Sushmita Sen debunks misconceptions about single motherhood; says, “Fathers are important but…”

Actress Sushmita Sen takes immense pride in being a dedicated single mother to her daughters, Renee and Alisah. Over the years, she has been an inspiration to many, setting remarkable parenting standards. In a recent interview, Sushmita courageously addressed and debunked various misconceptions surrounding single parenting. One of the key misconceptions that Sushmita busted was the idea that the absence of a father figure might lead to incompleteness or imbalance in her daughters' lives. She revealed that she has been successful in creating a loving and nurturing environment for her children, and their lives are filled with happiness, growth, and fulfilment.

During her conversation with Etimes, Sushmita was prompted to discuss a misconception associated with single mothers, to which she responded, “That..there is an imbalance if they grow up without a father. Fathers are important but like everything else in life, you don’t miss what you never had. So, the concept is different.”

For the unversed, Sushmita Sen is the mother of Renee Sen and Alisah. Renee is Sushmita's elder daughter, whom she adopted in 2000. Sushmita has been a proud and loving mother to Renee and her younger daughter Alisah, whom she adopted in 2010. Throughout the years, Sushmita has openly expressed her affection for her daughters and has embraced her role as a single mother with great devotion and joy.

On the professional front, was last seen in the second instalment of Disney+Hotstar’s popular web series Aarya. The actress has already begun working on the third season. Besides this web show, she has another web series in her kitty, titled Taali. Sen will be seen essaying the transgender activist Gauri Sawant in an upcoming show. The actress made the official announcement of the same in October last year. The biopic will be created by Arjun Singgh Baran and Kartk D Nishandar, helmed by National award-winning director Ravi Jadhav, and produced by Arjun Singgh Baran, Kartk D Nishandar & Afeefa Nadiadwala.
