Bollywood actor Anupam Kher got married in 1985, and Kirron Kher’s son from her previous marriage, Sikander, became a part of his life. Despite this, the actor recently expressed that he feels a certain emptiness from not experiencing a child’s upbringing firsthand. In a recent conversation with Raj Shamani, Anupam explained the reason why he and Kirron chose not to have children together.

Reflecting on his previous remark about missing the experience of watching a child grow up, Anupam shared that he only began to feel this absence after turning 60. “I do a lot of work with children. My foundation does a lot of work. I am fond of children. I used to do a show called Say Na Something to Anupam Uncle, which was a children’s show. So when somebody asked me, ‘Do you feel this?’ I said yes—and it’s the truth.”

He went on to elaborate why they never had children together, saying, “It didn’t happen initially. Kirron couldn’t conceive, and when she did, the pregnancy wasn’t developing properly. I was too busy trying to make it big. I was too busy… and Sikander—he’s still enough for me. He was four years old when he came into my life, when I married Kirron, so I never felt anything missing. Just because I feel something now doesn’t mean I felt it then—there’s no definitive answer to it.”

Kirron and Anupam had a strong friendship well before their marriage in 1985. During that period, Kirron was going through a difficult phase in her marriage with her then-husband Gautam Berry, while Anupam was dealing with the aftermath of a breakup. Over time, their connection deepened into love, leading them to get married and start a new journey together.

Meanwhile, Anupam is preparing for the release of his upcoming film Tanvi The Great. The movie, which features Shubhangi Dutt, Boman Irani, Jackie Shroff, and Pallavi Joshi in prominent roles, is set to hit theatres on July 18.

Filmmaker Kabir Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan is considered an iconic film. It is also believed to be one of Salman Khan’s finest performances. But along with him, the star of the film was also Harshaali Malhotra, who won countless hearts with her adorable act as Munni. As Bajrangi Bhaijaan completed 10 years today, Harshaali spoke exclusively with Bollywood Hungama on her experience of playing an important character at such a young age, bonding with Salman and the highly emotional climax.

You are an important part of Bajrangi Bhaijaan. The film moves around your character. How does that make you feel to be involved in such a classic?

I was blessed to have been given the opportunity to play that kind of role a very early age. It felt like a dream come true to see myself on silver screen so soon. It’s always overwhelming when people still re-watch the movie and they come to me to say that they loved the movie, my acting and say that I was so cute. It’s so overwhelming that they still love me.

How did the makers or the casting directors audition you for the role? Do you remember the casting process?

There were a few rounds of auditions at Mukesh Chhabra sir’s office and in the end there were only five girls left, who used to perform different activities. Kabir sir used to watch secretly to judge us. There they used to give few activities to us to act and always I used to be the first one to perform that immediately with my style and understanding. On the last day, I was told that I am being finalised and they did my look test. We all went to meet Salman sir at Galaxy Apartment.

Did you interact or spend time with Salman Khan before the shoot or during rehearsals?

We never used to do rehearsal before shoot. But, of course, when we used to get time in between shots, we used to play table tennis or go for ATV (All Terrain Vehicle) rides.

The most obvious question. How was your experience with Salman Khan, not just while shooting but also when you were not shooting?

It was a very nice experience working with him. He guided me through many things. Like once he told me when I was unwell, “If an actor is not well, it should not come on his face while shooting.”

How was it being directed by Kabir Khan? How did he handle you?

The bond between us was very strong and we used to understand each other very well. Because of this, it was very easy for me to understand each and every scene and perform. He used to explain the scene in detail. I used to ask a few questions as well.

You played a mute character in the film. You didn’t have any dialogues. How challenging was it to convey your feelings through expressions and gestures at such a young age?

It was quite difficult and challenging. But with the help of Kabir sir’s guidance as well as my hard work and dedication, I was able to do all the scenes perfectly. I am glad that I fulfilled his expectations.

How did you find other co-actors like Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Kareena Kapoor Khan?

They were all very sweet and caring towards me but I didn’t get too much time to spend with them as majorly my scenes were with Salman sir only.

The film’s climax was very emotional and overwhelming. How was the experience of shooting it? Do you remember what was conveyed to you by the director?

When Kabir sir explained the scene to me, I got the slightest idea that it was going to be an emotional scene. But I didn’t know it was going to be that emotional, till the extent that people are going to leave crying out of the theatre. People still to this date come and tell me that they cried a lot during the climax. Even I did.

What do you feel when you see Bajrangi Bhaijaan today after 10 years on TV or OTT?

When I watch BB now, I feel like, wow was that really me? How did I manage to pull that off? But yes, it was me and I can do it all over again. Because I have that much confidence in myself and believe that I will work hard to achieve my goals. Because I love doing this, I love acting, it’s my passion. I will work hard and pour my soul into all the projects. The current one I’m working on (Akhanda 2) and as well as in the future ones.

And I hope that I will be loved the same way for my next project and in future the way I was loved in BB.

Sara Ali Khan, who made a striking debut with Kedarnath in 2018, continues to be remembered for her raw and convincing performance in the film. The success of her first role set high expectations among audiences. Since then, Sara has explored a variety of characters—some well-received, others less so—but Kedarnath has remained a standout in her filmography.

Now, nearly seven years later, the actress has once again impressed audiences with her performance in Anurag Basu’s Metro… In Dino. Reflecting on the experience, Sara revealed that she finds a striking similarity between the two films—one that has clearly resonated with viewers, sparking comparisons to her debut.

In an interview with ETimes, Sara Ali Khan expressed that she feels proud of herself today, just as she did when Kedarnath was released. The young actress shared, “I'm about to say something that I haven't said in a long time, which is that I am really proud of myself. And the last time I probably felt this way was Kedarnath. And I'm being honest. Like, it is the kind of film that I don't have the crutch of glamour, I don't have the crutch of abs, I don't have ‘Chaka Chak’ to break into, I don't have any of that, I'm not using my bubbly personality, I'm not using my loud voice, I'm not using a rhyming session, there are no knock-knocks happening. The only knock-knock that you're hoping doesn't happen is from the British, because then you're hung.”

Besides her remarkable debut, a major reason Kedarnath touched hearts was Sara’s adorable chemistry with the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The film showcased one of his most emotional performances and remains unforgettable for fans. Following her romantic pairing with Aditya Roy Kapur in Metro… In Dino, Sara is now gearing up to star alongside Ayushmann Khurrana in a spy comedy.
