The Bombay High Court rejected filmmaker Ramesh Sippy's request for a court-appointed receiver in an ongoing property dispute. The dispute centres on the inheritance of assets belonging to Sippy's late parents [Ramesh Sippy v. Sunhil Sippy & Ors.].

According to a report by Bar and Bench, the Sholay director had filed an interim plea seeking the appointment of a court receiver. This receiver would have taken temporary control of a flat and 27 cinematograph films, which Sippy claimed fell intestate (without a will) upon his parents' passing.

The filmmaker further contended that Sippy Films Pvt. Ltd. and its directors were illegally utilising these assets. However, Justice Manish Pitale, presiding over the case, found insufficient evidence from Sippy to support his concerns about the defendant disposing of the flat. Additionally, the court noted that the legal heirs of Sippy's siblings, along with the company itself, had been asserting ownership rights over the 27 films for a substantial period.

The judge further stated, "Apart from this, the stand taken (by Sippy) in the present suit, appears to be different from the assertions made in the earlier proceedings initiated by Sippy. Therefore, he has failed to make out a prima facie case in his favour.”

The veteran filmmaker’s request for a court receiver stemmed from a larger lawsuit seeking a declaration of his share in his deceased parents' estate among the surviving legal heirs. He claimed to be the sole surviving child.

Filed in 2023, the lawsuit argues that the properties of his parents should be distributed between him and the legal heirs of his siblings. Sippy seeks a one-fifth share of the estate, including a flat in south Mumbai, 500 shares of Sippy Films Pvt. Ltd., and rights to 27 films produced by the company.

Advocate Shanay Shah, representing Ramesh Sippy, was briefed by Bachubhai Munim & Co. Advocates Archit Jayakar, Pooja Yadav, and Parita Mashruwala, representing the Sippy Films company and directors, were briefed by Jayakar & Partners.

The case is ongoing, and further developments are expected.

The Mumbai Crime Branch has apprehended two individuals allegedly involved in the Sunday morning firing incident outside actor Salman Khan's Bandra West residence. Confirming the arrests, Mumbai Police officials revealed that the accused were apprehended late Monday night in Bhuj, Gujarat. 

"Both the accused, who fled Mumbai after the firing, have been arrested from Gujarat's Bhuj," the officials told to ANI. The accused will be brought back to Mumbai for further investigation. 

The incident, which unfolded early Sunday morning, witnessed two unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants open fire outside Galaxy Apartments, Salman Khan's residence. The assailants fled the scene after discharging a total of four rounds. One live cartridge was recovered from the site. 

The incident sparked immediate action from law enforcement agencies, with the Mumbai Crime Branch initiating an investigation. Preliminary investigation suggests a well-planned attack, as the suspects wore helmets to conceal their identities. Following the incident, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde contacted Salman Khan and Mumbai Police Commissioner. Discussions focused on the actor's safety, and the Chief Minister recommended enhanced security measures.

Post the incident Anmol Bishnoi, the brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, took responsibility for firing outside Salman’s house. In the Facebook post, Anmol said that it was a trailer to show Salman their might and that ‘don’t consider us less. Consider this as “the last warning.”

For the unversed, Salman Khan has been under Y-Plus security cover since November 2022 due to threats received from gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar. He is also authorized to carry a personal firearm and has recently acquired an armored vehicle for additional protection.

Bade Miyan Chote Miyan stars Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff in the lead role of agents whereas Manushi Chhillar as the agent and Alaya F as a hacker play the leading ladies. Salman Khan, who stays in Bandra, with his parents and family, received another major threat on April 14 as gunshots were fired at his residence on Sunday morning. The police is currently investigating the matter after onlookers revealed that two unidentified bikers were seen firing shots at his residence in Galaxy apartment in Bandra. For the unversed, ever since the past two years, the threats against the actor have seen an increase with Khan even demanding for permission to hold personal weapon for self-defense.

Reports suggest that a bullet was also fired on the first floor where Salman Khan resides in his humble one BHK apartment. Videos from the news portal ANI have found its way on social media where the Mumbai Crime Branch team along with forensics team are seen investigating the bullets and bullet marks. This is not the first time where Khan has been directly attacked. Last year, his father Salim Khan too received death threats where unidentified letters were left on the bench he often crosses while jogging, which further prompted Salman to request security for his family too.

For the unversed, gangster Lawrence Bishnoi had openly threatened to kill Salman Khan over the actor’s involvement in the blackbuck hunting case since the animal is considered to be auspicious by Bishnoi’s community. While Bishnoi is in jail, reports suggest that his henchman Sampat Nehra was stationed to keep an eye on Khan and his family, but Nehra too was arrested by the Haryana police. Another name that surfaced was that of Goldy Brar, who is set to be a Canada-based gangster who allegedly sent threatening emails to Khan and his family.

As for the recent shooting, the police is currently probing into the investigation and no details about the attack has been revealed.

Mr. and Mrs. Mahi, which is said to be a sports drama revolving around cricket, has finally received a release date. While audiences are eagerly waiting to see the duo of Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor, who previously featured in a horror comedy, in a rather different avatar this time, the makers have locked a release date for the film, which is May 31.

With the latest announcement, Rajkummar Rao, who is already gearing up for the release of another film Srikanth: Aa Raha Hai Sabki Aankhein Kholne in the same month, will have another release to look forward in May. Speaking of the film, there were many dates which were reported last year including the one announced by Karan Johar wherein it was revealed that the makers are aiming at an April release. However, on April 13, the makers decided to unveil this release date on social media.

Speaking of Mr. and Mrs. Mahi, the film marks Janhvi’s first sports film and it is being said that the actress will be essaying the role of a cricketer in the movie. Although most of the details are kept under wraps, we hear that the actress has undergone extensive prep including a physical transformation to essay the role with authenticity. From attending workshops to learning the sport, Janhvi had also revealed that she even sustained shoulder injuries during the shoot of the movie.

Zee Studios and Dharma Productions present, A Dharma Productions film Mr. and Mrs. Mahi, and is produced by Karan Johar, Zee Studios, Hiroo Yash Johar, and Apoorva Mehta. The ravishing and quick-witted Tanishaa Mukerji spoke exclusively with Bollywood Hungama about her upcoming release, Luv You Shankar. She also opened up on why we don’t make a lot of kid-friendly films and goes down memory lane as well.

How was your experience of playing a de-glam, rustic character in Luv You Shankar? It was actually amazing because firstly, it was very easy. You had to get ready quickly (due to) no make-up (laughs)! You just have to cover your under-eye and you are ready. Honestly, I don’t look at roles as glamorous or de-glamorous. I was excited to play a mother on screen to a fairly grown-up kid. I guess the de-glamorous bit is appealing to people as they see something that they have not seen before. I don’t plan to shock people. But I like that my choices are such that people get surprised by everything that I do. Because that’s what this world is about – shock, awe and reinventing yourself again and again. And I think with every character, I want to do more of it.

How was it to share screen space with child actor Mann Gandhi? Were you able to form a bond with him? Yes, because I loved the relationship that the director had created between the mother and the child. It was like a friendship. Also, I like kids and I get along with them. I also believe that when you have to interact with a child, you have to become a child (smiles). And who better to become the child than the mother? Hence, it turned out to be a beautiful experience.

I believe Shreyas Talpade and you did a film together, Chemistry, directed by Sai Kabir or Revolver Rani (2014) fame… True. It was never released. I have no idea what happened. We were shooting one day and then the next day, we weren’t! It was not even completed.

But it must have been easier since you knew Shreyas Talpade already… Yes, definitely. Thanks to that film, we have known each other for almost 10-15 years now. I think we shot for it just a few years after Neal N Nikki (2005). In that film, I had a glamorous avatar. Hence, he was very surprised to see me in a saree-clad character! Moreover, good actors always make you feel very comfortable and that’s what he did.

Hollywood makes a lot of films aimed at kids. In India, very few such attempts are made. Ajay Devgn did it twice – with Raju Chacha (2000) and Toonpur Ka Superhero (2010). Why do you think we don’t make more of such films? That’s one of the reasons we agreed to do this film. The director, Rajiv S Ruia, had made successful hit films. He, obviously, knows what kids will like. I loved his earlier film, My Friend Ganesha (2007). Hence, when he offered me Luv You Shankar, I got very excited. Hollywood has that understanding – they know what kids want to see and that’s how their kid films do so well. Not everybody in our country has that knowledge. Hence, since the director has got it right in the past, I am hoping that he knows what he’s doing with this film as well. The reason people don’t make a lot of kid films (in India) is because they don’t know how to make a successful one. Rajiv ji, meanwhile, is capable of making another hit film in this space.

Also, there’s a craze for superheroes like Iron Man, Superman etc. But we have had superheroes even before them, like Lord Shiva and Lord Ganesh. Hence, in a way, Luv You Shankar is a superhero film!

Making kid-friendly films can also prove to be an advantage because most kids won’t go alone to cinemas. The parents will have to tag along with them, leading to more ticket sales… We want the audience to watch Luv You Shankar with their family as the film is meant for a family experience. Hence, we are also releasing it in multiple languages. It gives a chance to people to bond with their families again. Many argue that OTT has killed cinema. That’s not possible. OTT is mainly meant for an individual experience. Hence, it has so much content as it’s about catering to your individual needs. On the other hand, when we make a film, it has everything that one looks for – it has action, drama, comedy etc. as the idea is to appeal to the whole family. Unfortunately, we have forgotten this culture of the film industry to make a film catering to everyone. We have gone too western with our subjects. Luv You Shankar has a very Indian story. It even shows India like you have never seen before. Hence, I am praying that people come in because firstly, we have taken an Indian superhero – Lord Shankar, and secondly, we have made a film that represents India.

On the day of release, do you check for feedback on social media? (Smiles) Honestly, I don’t. Once the film releases, we cannot control what happens. Hence, there’s no point in reading (what people have to say). However, I love to see how people react in cinemas. But that won’t be possible this time as I will be travelling when the film releases.

Your debut film Sssshhh... (2003) completed 20 years last year. Did you celebrate your 20th anniversary as an actor? No, because I don’t acknowledge time and I don’t believe in celebrating time. Hence, I keep moving forward and doing amazing things. I actually don’t believe in the Roman Calendar! Who decided that 1 year has to be 365 days or that 1 hour should comprise 60 minutes? For me, Neal N Nikki feels like yesterday.

Speaking of Neal N Nikki, you once said that it’s your most-watched film to date online. Surprisingly, at that point, it didn’t work in cinemas And you know, now people tell me about (how much they enjoyed it). Shreyas admitted that his friends were excited that he was working with me because they were all crazy about Neal N Nikki. I didn’t know that I got so many people so excited about my character and that they found me so amazing on screen. I was completely unaware of the impact that Neil N Nikki had on people.

Maybe, in today’s times, the film could have done better. At that time, it was too new or radical for moviegoers… The makers should re-release it. I think a lot of guys would enjoy the film as the world has now opened up a lot.

19 years ago, actors rarely did such bold roles on screen. Did you take time to get convinced? No. I loved the idea of the film and the character. I felt she was quite badass. Here’s a girl who was searching for a guy so that she could take him to her ex-boyfriend, make him jealous, get him back and then dump him! Her point was ‘How dare he dump me’! I was like, ‘Wow! This is a really twisted mind’. And I was on to play this twisted mind (laughs).

Another underrated film that you were a part of was Tango Charlie (2005). It was an anti-war film and is a must-watch, especially in today’s times. It also had a catchy song, ‘Bekaraar Kar Ke’… It was a film that Ajay Devgn chose for me. I was offered the film and my character was paired with Bobby Deol’s character. I was unsure but Ajay told me, ‘Keep quiet and do it’! And I was like, ‘Okay, fine’!

Do you have any plans to direct or produce? All my plans are hidden (smiles). It’s not for the media to know so that I can shock and surprise people with my every move. That’s the idea.

What next? I have a Marathi film coming up. It’ll also be a multilingual release.

As the tradition continues, a sea of fans were stationed outside Salman Khan’s Galaxy Apartments in Mumbai awaiting to witness one glimpse of their star on their special festival. At night, Salman arrived at the balcony of his house to greet the crowd.

Following the screening of Amar Singh Chamkila on Thursday evening which saw the presence of Diljit Dosanjh, Parineeti Chopra and Imtiaz Ali, the film is all set to arrive on Netflix in just a few hours. The music has been the talk of the town and the early reviews from the screening have been positive. However, the release has seen its fair share of drama. Additional District Judge Shatin Goyal, presiding over the case in Ludhiana, delivered a verdict late on Wednesday, April 10, refusing to halt the impending release of the film on Netflix, scheduled for Friday.

According to a report in Indian Express, the legal battle began when Patiala-based Ishdeep Singh Randhawa filed a petition on April 8, seeking a ‘perpetual injunction’ and urging the court to restrain the film's release. Randhawa's claim hinges on the assertion that Gurmail Kaur, Chamkila's first wife, had purportedly sold exclusive rights for the biopic to his late father, Gurdev Singh, a prominent figure in the Punjabi film industry.

According to Randhawa, Gurmail Kaur allegedly accepted Rs. 5 lakh from his father in exchange for granting the rights, formalized through a written agreement dated October 12, 2012. With his father's demise in November 2022, Randhawa contends that as the legal heir, the rights to produce the film on Chamkila's life now belong to him and his family.

This legal saga isn't entirely new. Randhawa had previously lodged a similar suit in a Ludhiana court, albeit with a different outcome. Last year, the case was ultimately "dismissed as withdrawn.”

As per the same report, counsel for Window Seat Films and Reliance Entertainment, Advocate Siddharth Sharma Tejas, along with Advocate Ravinder Kumar Sharma, said, “Refusing to pass any injunction orders on the film’s release, the court has adjourned the application and has granted due time to the filmmakers to file their written response.”

He added, “We argued that the movie’s release cannot be injuncted as the matter does not amount to any copyright infringement and the agreement on which the plaintiff is relying is barred by law of limitation and provisions of Copyright Act. The order refusing the injunction was pronounced in the open court. The court said ‘No injunction, no urgency’.” The next date of the hearing is May 6.

The film charts the untold true story of Punjab’s original rockstar of the masses, the highest record-selling artist of his time, who emerged from the shadows of poverty and rose to the heights of popularity in the 80s due to the sheer power of his music, angering many on the way, which finally led to his assassination at a young age of 27.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan greeted a sea of fans on Thursday evening on the occasion of Eid 2024 as the holy month concluded. As the tradition continues, a huge crowd of fans gathered outside his residence Mannat in Mumbai where they wait for hours every year to catch a glimpse of their favourite star. And as usual, the actor made an appearance to greet the fans.

Dressed in a white Pathani, Shah Rukh Khan was sporting long hair tied in a half ponytail. He was on the balcony of his sea-view-facing bungalow as fans cheered and chanted his name. Sharing the video, he wrote, “Eid Mubarak everyone… and thank you for making my day so special. May Allah bless us all with love, happiness and prosperity.”

Another video saw little AbRam Khan arrive on the balcony who was also dressed in all-white. Shah Rukh Khan asked him to wave at the fans. After which, he kissed his forehead as the little one left the balcony.

More than 20 years ago, Mumbai residents got a taste of the IMAX experience with the giant dome screen at Wadala, Mumbai. As years passed, the number of IMAX films increased, leading to healthy footfalls in the iconic giant theatre. Last year, the theatre shut and it dealt a huge blow to the moviegoers in the city. But now, it has come to light that the IMAX screen will soon reopen under Miraj Cinemas.

At the ComicCon 2024 exhibition conference in Las Vegas, IMAX Corporation and Miraj Entertainment Limited today announced their new partnership, agreeing to install three new IMAX with Laser systems at key locations across India. This deal marks the first-ever collaboration between the two companies and IMAX’s largest expansion in India in five years. Apart from the one in Mumbai, the second property will be located in Jaipur, Rajasthan. This also means that the Pink City will get its first-ever IMAX. The third location hasn’t been announced yet.

Rich Gelfond, CEO of IMAX, said, “Last year, we delivered record-breaking results in India—driven by a mix of Hollywood and Indian blockbusters—and we’re excited to expand our footprint in the market as the appetite for premium experiences continues to surge. We look forward to building on our remarkable momentum in India with our new partner Miraj Cinemas as they expand The IMAX Experience in key locations and iconic venues across the country.”

Amit Sharma, Managing Director, Miraj Entertainment Limited, stated, “IMAX is the most immersive cinematic experience in the world, and we are thrilled to join forces with them to bring IMAX with Laser to our venues in India. At Miraj, we know our audiences want larger-than-life movie experiences, and we look forward to partnering with IMAX to bring The IMAX Experience to new locations in the country, including non-metro cities.”

The IMAX cinema in Wadala was earlier managed by Big Cinemas and was then taken over by Carnival Cinemas. Carnival went into a loss and it shut most of its screens across India, including the Wadala property. The news of Miraj taking it over and restarting the IMAX screen is sure to spread cheer among moviegoers and the industry.

Bollywood Hungama has also learned that along with the IMAX screen, the normal screens in the Wadala property will also restart operations.

Actor Anil Kapoor recently opened up about his wife Sunita Kapoor's unwavering support during his initial struggles in the film industry. In a candid interview alongside his daughter Sonam Kapoor, Anil revealed how Sunita played a pivotal role in their early life as a couple.

Anil spoke about his career journey that has seen him navigate both highs and lows over the past four decades. During a promotional event for Ariel's #sharetheload campaign, Anil, interviewed by Neha Dhupia, shared, "In my life, when I first met Sunita 50 years ago… When I met her, obviously, I was not doing very well financially. She would take care of a lot of things, and that’s how we shared the load. She stepped forward to share the load where money was concerned. It’s not only about doing household jobs.”

Anil further elaborated on Sunita's intuitive understanding of their financial situation during their dating years. "There were times when I couldn’t afford certain things, but I didn’t have to tell her. She would automatically… travelling, going out for meals, sometimes we’d go to a normal restaurant, sometimes we’d go to a slightly better restaurant when we were dating each other," he said. 

"Automatically, she knows that of course I don’t have the money to pay the bill. So, she quickly slips some money out of her bag, and before I can come to know, she’s already paid the bill," he added. 

For the unversed, Anil Kapoor and Sunita Kapoor have been married since 1984. Their daughter Sonam Kapoor, who was present during the interview, is an actress herself. The couple also has a younger daughter, Rhea Kapoor, a film producer, and their son Harshvardhan Kapoor, who is also an actor.

Recently, a man attempted a fraud worth Rs 6 lakh under the guise of offering a job at actor Akshay Kumar's production house. The accused, identified as Princekumar Rajan Anjanikumar Sinha (29), allegedly reached out to Pooja Anandani (28), a social media influencer, claiming to be a representative from Akshay Kumar's production house, Cape of Good Films.

Princekumar, posing as Rohan Mehra from Cape of Good Films, reportedly contacted Pooja and promised her a lucrative position within the production house. He further enticed her by offering to arrange for a professional photoshoot by a renowned photographer associated with film star Amitabh Bachchan. However, to facilitate this purported opportunity, the accused demanded a sum of Rs 6 lakh from the social media influencer.

Sensing something amiss, Pooja decided to verify the accused’s claims. She contacted Akshay Kumar's production house directly and discovered that there was no employee by the name of Rohan Mehra or any ongoing recruitment process matching his assertions. Realising the attempted fraud, she wasted no time in alerting the authorities.

Upon receiving the complaint, the Juhu police swiftly took action and apprehended Sinha. It was revealed that Princekumar had fabricated details about an upcoming film project, falsely claiming that Pooja had been selected for a role. His elaborate scheme included arranging multiple meetings with Pooja under the pretext of organising the photoshoot and finalising the job offer.

Fortunately, due to Pooja’s vigilance and prompt action, the fraud was thwarted, and Sinha was taken into custody before any financial harm could be inflicted.

In this series, Bobby Deol embodies a pivotal character crucial to the storyline's development. After months of work, Deol has successfully wrapped up shooting for Stardom. As per a report in India Today, a source said, "Bobby wrapped the shoot last month (March). The last schedule took place at YRF studio and Chitrakoot ground (Mumbai) where a set was built. He was a thorough professional and very dedicated to this project. The whole unit was very happy with his work.” With filming completed, he is now preparing for the next phase of production: dubbing.

The series, which began production in July last year, promises to be a star-studded affair with cameo appearances from some of Bollywood's biggest names, including Shah Rukh Khan himself, along with Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Karan Johar, and Bobby Deol. Headlining the series is Lakshya Lalwani, who is set to portray a central role in this fictionalized narrative offering viewers a glimpse into the inner workings of the Hindi film industry.

Netflix hosted the premiere of Amar Singh Chamkila, in association with the prestigious MAMI Mumbai Film Festival on April 8th 2024, in Mumbai at PVR Dynamix, Juhu. The event was graced by the director Imtiaz Ali and Ruchikaa Kapoor Sheikh, Director of Original Films, Netflix India and the screening was followed by an interactive session between Sucharita Tyagi, film critic, and Imtiaz Ali.

The premiere evening was attended by over 300 film enthusiasts including director of Amar Singh Chamkila, Imtiaz Ali along with Shabana Azmi, Mrunal Thakur, Sunny Kaushal, Daisy Shah, Mahima Makwana, Avneet Kaur, Pratik Sehejpal, Piyush Mishra, Sheeba Chaddha, Bhuvan Bam, Mrunal Thakur, Zanai Bhosle, Ajaz Khan, Moses Kaul, and Rohan Shah amongst others.

Imtiaz Ali was overjoyed to share his film with such a large audience. Speaking about the same he said, “It is an exhilarating experience to screen Amar Singh Chamkila for so many film enthusiasts at the screening today. We are overwhelmed by the love that the film has received so far and with the release of the film just around the corner, the team is extremely excited to share the film with Netflix audiences worldwide!”

The film charts the untold true story of Punjab’s original rockstar of the masses, the highest record-selling artist of his time, who emerged from the shadows of poverty and rose to the heights of popularity in the 80s due to the sheer power of his music, angering many on the way, which finally led to his assassination at a young age of 27.

Starring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra, Amar Singh Chamkila is Netflix’s ode to the vibrant life of the legendary Punjabi musician. Salman Khan grabbed attention this past weekend. The actor, who was last seen in Tiger 3, was seen spending time with politician Ashish Shelar along with his father, Salim Khan. The father-son duo grabbed lunch with the politician.

Ashish Shelar took to his Instagram account on Sunday to share a photo with Salman Khan and Salim Khan. The actor was seen wearing a grey t-shirt and brown pants whereas his father was donning a yellow shirt and pants. Shiva (1989):

Kaun (1999)

A psychological thriller, Kaun is a suspenseful tale set in a deserted house during a stormy night. Starring Urmila Matondkar and Manoj Bajpayee, the film keeps the audience on the edge of their seats with its suspenseful narrative and unexpected twists. Even after 25 years, Kaun continues to thrill and scare the audience.

Sarkar (2005):

Inspired by The Godfather, Sarkar is a political crime thriller that follows the journey of a powerful political figure called Subhash Nagre aka Sarkar and his family. Starring Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role, the film was well-received for its gripping storyline and strong performances. It is also considered one of the best works of Abhishek Bachchan, who played Sakar’s son Shankar.

The much-awaited film Maidaan is all set to release next week. Produced by Boney Kapoor, it stars Ajay Devgn in the lead and will clash in cinemas with the Akshay Kumar-Tiger Shroff starrer Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. Bollywood Hungama recently spoke exclusively with Boney Kapoor and asked him if he ever thought of releasing the period sports drama in April-end or May. This is a period which is devoid of any big releases. Hence, Maidaan could have enjoyed a solo release.

Boney Kapoor, however, explained why that was not feasible saying, “One more film of Ajay is ready – Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha. If I had scheduled Maidaan for a later date, even that film would have been shifted. This would have also affected his subsequent releases.” Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha is directed by Neeraj Pandey and as per reports, it is scheduled to be released on June 14.

He revealed, “Moreover, this is a good period. Eid has always been lucky for me. Mr India (1987) was released on Eid and so was Wanted (2009).”

In the past, two films have released peacefully on the same day like Gadar 2 and OMG 2 or Animal and Sam Bahadur. But in the case of Dunki and Salaar, there were fights over screen sharing. Does Boney Kapoor anticipate that happening next week? Or have the screen-sharing issues been sorted already? The producer coolly replied, “I am easy that way. That anyway is for the distribution head to handle.”

When asked about the screen count for Maidaan, he replied, “I have no idea and I am not concerned about it. I am happy with the product and I am sure whichever way it is released, it’ll show its true colours. Agar Bade Miyan Chote Miyan ko zyada shows jaate hai, toh jaane do. We’ll see what the final lifetime number comes up to. I am sure even that film is going to make good numbers and perhaps it’ll open even better. Hence, I am mentally prepared. Kuch farak nahin padta hai. Also, Vashu Bhagnani is a friend of mine. I want his film to do very, very well. And of course, I want my film to also excel.”

Disney most recently announced an original musical feature helmed by filmmaker Gurinder Chadha. The creative mind behind hits like Bend It Like Beckham and Bride & Prejudice, Chadha's latest project promises to bring an Indian princess from history to life on the big screen. Written by Chadha herself alongside screenwriter Paul Mayeda Berges, the project has captured widespread attention. Speculation about casting has been rife, particularly with Alia Bhatt as a strong contender for the lead role. These rumours gained momentum when Chadha made an appearance at Bhatt's Hope Gala in London recently.

Insiders have disclosed that Chadha and Bhatt first crossed paths in January this year during the wedding festivities of Ira, daughter of Bollywood star Aamir Khan. The meeting seemingly sparked further interest in a potential collaboration between the filmmaker and the young actor. As per a report in Mid-day, a source revealed, “The two have been in talks for a while. The final casting will happen only after the script is developed, but Alia is among the top casting choices.”

While Alia Bhatt made her Hollywood debut last year with Heart of Stone, the actress has three projects in hand currently – Jigra by Vasan Bala, YRF’s spy universe project with Shiv Rawail and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War. The source added, “After playing a singer in Bhansali’s period drama and an undercover agent in Rawail’s movie, a Disney princess will be a great addition to Alia’s repertoire. Leading the big-budget international project will also be a step forward towards making her presence felt in Hollywood after Heart of Stone [2023]. If things fall in place, she will kick off work with Gurinder in the second half of 2025.”

Shah Rukh Khan's last release Dunki, directed by Rajkumar Hirani, captivated audiences with its grand visuals and immersive storytelling. But what many fans might not realize is the extensive use of visual effects (VFX) that brought the movie's world to life.

Red Chillies VFX, the in-house VFX studio of Shah Rukh Khan's production company, recently released a breakdown video showcasing the intricate work behind Dunki's visuals. The four-minute featurette offers a glimpse into the creation of some of the film's most stunning scenes.

The video delves into the invisible effects that elevated Dunki's cinematic experience. Remember the seamless camera movement showcasing Taapsee Pannu's character reminiscing in her village? That seemingly single shot was actually crafted with meticulous VFX work. Even seemingly simple scenes involved VFX wizardry. The scene where Vicky Kaushal's character sets himself ablaze was enhanced with computer-generated fire for added impact.

The breakdown video sheds light on how Dunki's expansive landscapes and thrilling journeys were achieved. Many of the environments the characters traverse, from trains to boats and even trucks, were computer-generated. The actors filmed these scenes against blue screen backdrops, with Red Chillies VFX crafting the realistic backgrounds we see in the final film.

The VFX breakdown offers some surprising details as well. Remember Shah Rukh Khan's daring underwater escape scene, where the characters dodge gunfire? Believe it or not, it wasn't filmed underwater at all! The scene was shot in a studio environment, and Shah Rukh Khan's hair was replaced with CGI to create the illusion of being wet. Similarly, close-up shots of wrinkled feet weren't achieved by actors dipping their feet in water - the wrinkles were meticulously added through visual effects.

Despite mixed reviews, Dunki earned decent at the box office, becoming the third-highest-grossing film of Shah Rukh Khan's career. His other two releases of last year, Pathaan and Jawan, exceeded Rs 1000 crores global box office collections.

Veteran playback singer Shaan recently opened up about a missed opportunity in director Rajkumar Hirani's film Dunki, starring Shah Rukh Khan. In an interview with Galatta India, Shaan expressed his disappointment saying, "At this point in my career that song would have meant the sun and the moon for me.”

He further added, “To get to sing again for Shah Rukh Khan after Om Shanti Om, it would have been brilliant. The song was a beautiful duet with Shreya Ghoshal, it had great potential. It worked not just as a film song but had that ‘Hawayein Hawayein’  wala feeling. I was really counting on that but that’s life, it is okay.”

For the unversed, Shaan had recorded a duet titled ‘Durr Kahi Durr’  with singer Shreya Ghoshal for the film. However, during the editing process, director Hirani decided to remove the song. Shaan acknowledged the director's call, stating, "He was very transparent about it with me.. and I really appreciate that.. and I fully understand that the film is top priority,” on his X (formerly known as Twitter).

Despite the setback with Dunki, Shaan received a new opportunity from none other than A.R. Rahman. He lent his voice to a challenging song in Mani Ratnam's historical epic Ponniyin Selvan: II.

Shaan described the song as a "shouty rap song" portraying a fight scene. He initially questioned his suitability for the role, but Rahman encouraged him to take it on. Shaan considers this a significant challenge in his career.

Rubina Dilaik and Abhinav Shukla are on the moon as they have been enjoying parenthood with Edha and Jeeva and are thrilled to experience the joys of being a mom and dad. However, Rubina has decided to resume work and it is her mother who has been standing in support of them to help them with their infants. Recently, the Punar Vivah actress opened up about striking a balance between work and motherhood and even recalled the experience of dancing for her Punjabi film when she was pregnant.

In an interview with ETimes, Rubina Dilaik expressed gratitude towards the entire team of her Punjabi film who were not only supportive but also helped her prep for all kinds of medical emergencies. The actress revealed that her dance was a memory she made with her daughters and she would like to show them when they grow up. Speaking about the same, Rubina shared, “That time set pe kisi ko nahi pata tha (no one on the sets knew). I remember (my sister) Jyotika coming down taking care of me, mom coming down specially taking care of me during the schedule and I was really very careful. Doctors 24-7 on call rehte the. Bahut garmi thi, bahut zyada challenging tha but now when I look back, I have made a piece of memory for my daughters. And once they grow up, I'll proudly say that you were there with me dancing in the film. And this is what three of us, we did on screen.”

Apart from that, Rubina also opened up about how her mother has been supportive to her and the kids while she is looking at resuming work. She continued, “We are constantly on our toes. My mother is fully dedicated. She's like a rock-solid support in the family and it's just because of her that I have been able to step out for film promotions. As far as the environment is concerned, every time I try to step out, they start crying. We are trying to manage.”

On the other hand, experiencing motherhood has been an experience beyond happiness for Rubina who couldn’t stop gushing about her little ones. “Our mom says the Edhaa has resemblance to me, Jeeva thodi thodi (may be a little).”

Followed by this, the actor is expected to be doing Ramayana in which he is said to be playing the role of Lord Ram. If reports are to be believed, the actor is currently prepping physically to play the role in the Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious movie which is also expected to star Sai Pallavi, Yash, Sunny Deol, among others.

KGF Star Yash has indeed agreed to play Ravan in the Rs. 360 crores budgeted adaptation of the Ramayan. But he will not be seen in Part 1 of the 3-part feature film omnibus.

Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayan has begun shooting, although none of the supposed stars of the show—Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash—are part of the inaugural shooting.

A source close to the project informed, “(Producer) Namit Malhotra wanted to start the shooting on his birthday (April 2). So, they kind of rushed the shooting. It is only minor scenes with junior artistes.”

About the stars joining the shooting, the source added, “There is no clarity as yet on that, except for the fact that Yash has finally consented after months of dilly dallying. He is playing Ravan. But he will make an appearance only in the second feature film. They plan to release three separate films, and Ravan will not be part of the first film. Yash will shoot for Ramayan after he finishes shooting for Geetu Mohandas’s film Toxic.”

As they broached this subject, the two actors were also asked to write a matrimony profile as a part of a fun activity during their interview with Indian Express. Erica commented about her co-star’s marriage plans adding, “Karan is never looking to get married.” However the latter was quick to respond and said, “Waqt badalte der nahi lagta (It doesn’t take long for times to change). My interviews are as misleading as the show’s trailer.”

In the same breath, he also addressed the breakup rumours that were doing the rounds last year when he and Tejasswi Prakash were not seen together a few times. Speaking about how as actors they deal with the paparazzi and media constantly scrutinizing them, Karan shared, “As a couple we have jobs, and some people don’t. It doesn’t affect me, because we are sitting together and people are saying we broke up, or she got married to someone else. Some people are just too free.”

In the past, Karan Kundrra has expressed his desire to marry Tejasswi Prakash but the couple as of now, are concentrating on their careers. So TejRan fans will possibly have to wait a bit longer before they make their big announcement.

He said, “While making Highway, I developed a spiritual bond with Alia. I don’t know if it’s the same for her. That’s up to her. I can only speak for myself. I have seen that she has always tried to do new things. I stood up for her genuinely because she was unfairly targeted. To target your fellow actors or your colleagues or your fraternity over things that you feel you did not get, even though I think you did got a lot from this industry, it’s just unbecoming. I felt that I should do it and I did it.”

For the unversed, Kangana Ranaut had called Alia Bhatt’s performance in Gully Boy as ‘mediocre’ and accused the media of ‘pampering’ star kids and praising even their basic performances. On the other hand, Alia had reacted to these statements by taking the criticism in her stride. Appreciating his Highway co-star’s reaction, Randeep Hooda had expressed his opinion on social media, wherein he had posted, “Dearest @aliaa08 I’m so glad you are not letting the opinions of very occasional actors and chronic victims affect you and your work .. kudos to you for your continued efforts to outdo yourself”.
