Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar (2011) had a decent run in cinemas but over the years, it achieved cult status. It re-released this year and drew housefull crowds, surprising the industry and trade. During an interaction with Mayank Shekhar of Mid-Day, Imtiaz spoke about it and also confessed that John Abraham was the original choice for the role of Jordan played by Ranbir Kapoor.

Imtiaz Ali said, “There are certain things that don’t happen in life. So, you don’t know how it would be if it had happened. If John had done that film, would it have affected in some way as an actor or would he have taken a different route, we don’t know.”

Imtiaz Ali was slammed for casting Nargis Fakhri in Rockstar. Imtiaz Ali revealed, “Nargis’ mother is from Prague but settled in America. She had gotten married to a man who was from a different nationality. Nargis, strangely, had never been to Prague or the Czech Republic. But through her mother, she had the passport of the Czech Republic.”

He added, “She, for some reason, was in Amsterdam. I had gone for recce for Rockstar in Prague. She was one hour away by flight from me. I asked her if she could meet me in Prague. She replied, ‘Yes, I can as I have the Czech passport. Also, it’s my mother’s land’. We met in an exotic location in Prague.”

Imtiaz Ali explained his rationale behind casting her, “The reason I cast her is because I wanted a ‘dil todne ki machine’ look. She had to be unattainable, you can only aspire to have her. She was out of anybody’s league, even Ranbir Kapoor’s!”

He then said, “She gave a wonderful performance but the fact of the matter is we could not take out her real identity from her, which is that of an American girl. We didn’t factor in that aspect.”

Imtiaz added, “Now, Rockstar has had a re-release and had a tremendous run. When you go to see the film now, nobody complains about Nargis! This generation has accepted her because somehow, they are also aware of people like Nargis who are a bit more Westernized. And she’s from Jackson Heights and you see that her. You don’t see St Stephen’s in her. She’s not a Kashmiri girl. In scenes where she’s not talking or not just feeling, she’s outstanding in the film.”

Alia Bhatt had a decent debut with Student Of The Year (2012) but she got accepted as a fine performer with her second film Highway (2014), directed by Imtiaz Ali. During an interaction with Mayank Shekhar of Mid-Day, the acclaimed director revealed how Alia was not the first choice and that the character of Veera was of a different age.

Imtiaz said that he was looking to cast a woman in her 30s and that he was looking to cast “Aishwarya Rai, without the make-up, maybe. It was that kinda film.”

He explained how he changed his mind, “I met Alia at the screening of Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana (2012). Alia’s film had been released by then but I had not seen it. I started talking to her and realized that there’s a lot of warmth in her and her emotional quotient was high.”

He continued, “I stirred the conversation towards Highway. I started talking to her about home, society etc. I started to then hear her true voice. This is the voice that doesn’t change that much with age.”

He also said, “I wanted to cast a woman in her 30s who was more mature and who had had experiences in life that she was going to talk about in the film. But after meeting her, I realized that this is the emotional depth I was looking for.”

Imtiaz Ali added, “I gave her the 20-30 pager script. It was written like a novella. She didn’t call me for a day. Later, I realized that she was actually hesitant. I asked her if she liked it. She said, ‘I loved it’. The way she said ‘loved’ had a very hard feeling to it. When I asked her if she would do it, she replied, ‘Can we talk about it?’. This usually means that the actor doesn’t want to do it.”

But Imtiaz decided to speak to her, “I went to her house. Bhatt saab (father Mahesh Bhatt) told her, ‘You should do it. He’s a nice director (smiles)’!”

He also explained, “She was hesitant as she was not sure if she’d be able to do whatever was written in the script. She said, ‘There’s no scene in which I am not there’. I assured her not to worry.”

At the 70th National Film Awards, Brahmastra made a strong statement by winning numerous important awards, a landmark milestone for Indian film. The fantasy action adventure film, directed by Ayan Mukerji, won prizes for Best Music Direction, Best Male Playback Singer, and Best Film in the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics (AVGC) category. These victories solidify the film's influence in the business. Brahmastra, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Amitabh Bachchan, has received critical acclaim for its cutting-edge visual effects, creative narrative, and outstanding performances. Alia Bhatt resorted to social media to express her joy and happiness at her great achievement.

Alia Bhatt celebrated Brahmastra's National Film Awards victory by uploading the official winning poster on her Instagram stories, which was initially shared by Dharma Productions.

In her Instagram stories, she tagged all of the film's key stakeholders and wrote a touching remark, "Only love and light," expressing her excitement and admiration for the team's combined accomplishment.

Last year, in an interview with Zoom, Ranbir stated that Ayan Mukerji is now working on War 2, another highly anticipated movie, and that after the film is completed, he would begin Brahmastra 2. He said, “Brahmastra Part 2 is heavy into writing. We are working on it all the time. It’s just last week that Ayan narrated the film to me and he has gone 10 times bigger than Part 1 – his idea, his thought, the character. He is working on War 2 right now. So the plan is to finish War 2 by mid next year and we start shooting hopefully by the end of next year or the beginning of 2025. But definitely a lot of work is already been happening on the film. We understood the kind of criticism for the film, what worked for it and what didn’t. So we have put everything into consideration, the dialogue and comments on Shiva and Isha’s missing chemistry. A lot of criticism was constructive and we have taken that into our stride and we are trying to understand that and go beyond that.”

Talking about Brahmastra, the film's unique blend of mythology, fantasy, and contemporary storytelling has already earned it a following. Part one stars Shah Rukh Khan, Nagarjuna, Amitabh Bachchan, and Mouni Roy.

As Saif Ali Khan turned 54, he shared his earliest birthday memories. “My earliest birthday memories are in my Mum’s flat in Carmichael Road in town where I grew up. I remember my fifth birthday… magicians and balloons and cake … and cartoons on the screen … lots of people would come … I remember my father looking very lean and handsome … quietly smoking a cigarette in the background and then participating in some tricks … someone gave me a toy car with 007 on it,” he said.

Now it is his sons who get excited on Saif’s birthday. “They wake me up with cards that I’ve seen them making them but pretend I haven’t,” he said. “And they’ve told me my present: a batman action figure. I will never open the box. Then we have breakfast together and god willing a lovely day. My priorities in life have always been what they are. I am committed to work, and I want to make more money and invest it well to support my lifestyle and my ideas for celebration. I also love doing interesting work. And not missing out on too much precious family time is paramount to me. So it’s a balance… and I think we do it well.”

Saif has plans. “I now want to do some things … take my mum on the Orient Express to Venice. She wants to go to Florence …dinners and travels with good friends … wine and chats in lovely places … The mantra now is ‘Do good work and bounce! Take a fab holiday … travel to new places and eat well and laugh with friends’. I would like my sons Taimur and Jeh to be aware of things and exposed to the world. They have been swimming in cold waterholes abroad and been farming and hiking in their own country… We teach them that the most important thing is to be a good person ... and we value that quality. They have been presented a way of living and seeing things with us. Now they must choose,” he said.

Saif continued, “Tim says the idea of speaking lines to a crowd is petrifying. I will support that. He wants to be footballer! I think he can be a teacher … a photographer … whatever he wants. He is lucky. He can choose. The same for Jeh. After a good education, you must choose your own path. And it needn’t be the golden road to millions. It can be a peaceful quiet job! An art dealer, perhaps? There must be options beyond our own jobs. But our job is amazing. But you have to feel it, and you have to know how to be happy within the limits you set for yourself.”

That said Sif is happy with his life. “I’m in a place where I feel very happy,” he said. “I could be a bit more organised in what I read and how I learn. My French is still at basic level. I should have been fluent by now. The same with my guitar playing. I’m feeling good … a lot of people have faith in my work… I know what I want to do … how to live … where I want to travel… really good friends and good basic food in a lovely place with atmosphere is a heaven … So I’m excited about the year … pray it continues well, please. Because that’s the main thing. I’m incredibly lucky.”

The Kolkata rape case of a medical trainee has left the country question workspace safety measures for women, especially for the ones who are required to do late night shifts as a part of their jobs. As many celebrities have taken a stand for the victim and are batting for the improvement of safety measures for women, Alia Bhatt has shared a series of notes wherein she has not only taken a firm stand against rape but has shared data research on the increasing cases of sexual assault in the country.

In the first note she shared on social media, Alia Bhatt said, “Another brutal rape. Another day of realisation that women are not safe, anywhere. Another horrific atrocity to remind us that it's been over a decade since the Nirbhaya tragedy, but still nothing much has changed.” The second note spoke about the statistics and it read, “Let the statistics speak: 30% of India's doctors and 80% of our nursing staff are women. In an environment of growing violence against medical personnel, it's the women who are more vulnerable. Since 2022, there has been a 4% increase in crimes against women, over 20% of which involve rape and assault. Nearly 90 rapes a day were reported in India in 2022. Sources include the National Crime Records Bureau report 2022”.

She further went on to question the safety of women and asked, “How are all of us as women supposed to feel? How are we supposed to go to work or go about our daily lives with this playing on our minds. This horrific incident has once again reminded us that women disproportionately bear the weight of ensuring their own safety.”  “Despite the many crimes and all the women who have suffered, there is no real recourse or hope that things will change. We could not save this young woman, but we can try to prevent it from happening again. My request to the powers that be... - FOCUS on the safety of women. FOCUS on creating safe spaces and increase all avenues of protection. FOCUS on the why. The writing is on the wall, that there is something fundamentally wrong with the way our society currently functions. These repeated inhuman acts towards women prove that there is something wrong at a root level and unless we dig deep and uproot the cause, nothing is going to change!” she added.

She signed off with a concluding statement, “Don't tell women to change their path - change the terrain. Every woman deserves better.” Many of her fans and even industry insiders showcased support to the actress as well as expressed their concerns over the incident.

This Independence Day is going to be like a bonanza for film lovers as films of different genres and languages will be released in cinemas. In Hindi, there will be a three-way clash between Stree 2, Vedaa and Khel Khel Mein. In Telugu, two big films are going to release on August 15 – Ravi Teja-starrer Mr Bachchan and Ram Pothineni-Sanjay Dutt starrer Double iSmart. In this article, Bollywood Hungama will focus on the cuts given to Mr Bachchan by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

The CBFC passed the film with a U/A certificate. However, it asked for several modifications. To begin with, a disclaimer was added in the beginning that the film is fictional and doesn’t bear resemblance to any person or place. Then, a 2-minute-plus scene of a young child smoking a beedi was censored. The beedi was replaced with a pencil. A 1-second shot of blood on the floor was removed. Then, in four places, certain words and abuses were muted or replaced.

Lastly, the makers displayed a poster of Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha during the rolling titles for the entire duration. As per the CBFC’s directive, this poster was removed and replaced with a poster of Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan.

Once these changes were made, the CBFC passed the film on August 13, that is, two days before its release. The length of the film, as mentioned on the censor certificate, is 158 minutes. In other words, the run time of Mr Bachchan is 2 hours and 38 minutes.

Mr Bachchan is the official remake of the Ajay Devgn-starrer Raid (2018). While Ravi Teja plays the protagonist, Jagapathi Babu essays the role of the antagonist. Bhagyashri Borse, last seen in the Kartik Aaryan-starrer Chandu Champion as Nayantara, is the female lead. Mr Bachchan is directed by Harish Shankar.

On August 12, Vikram Bhatt presided over an event where he announced his association with Indira Entertainment, headed by Dr Ajay Murdia. Vikram was joined by Dr Ajay Murdia and also Mahesh Bhatt, who’ll be mentoring as well as writing some of the films that will be made by Indira. Actors Anupam Kher, Esha Deol, Adah Sharma and Ishwak Singh also graced the occasion. One of the most heartening moments of the event was when Anupam Kher gave ‘guru dakshina’ to Mahesh Bhatt in front of everyone. It was Mahesh Bhatt who gave the acting break to Anupam in Saaransh (1984). The actor was unanimously loved in this film and since then, has only grown as an actor.

Anupam Kher began by saying, “Bhatt saab told me that outside, I just paid him Rs. 1500. Since the past 40 years, I have been paying him after every film. I knew today he would ask for money. So, I paid him whatever I had in my pocket.”

At a later point, he remarked, “Guru dakshina ek janam mein dena possible nahin hai!” This led to applause at the venue. Anupam continued, “When I worked with Bhatt saab during Saaransh, we didn't meet in a five star. I thank Vikram Bhatt for bringing us together in a five-star hotel. I'll pay Bhatt saab Rs. 500 more!”

Saying this, Anupam Kher got up and so did Mahesh Bhatt. Anupam searched his pockets but failed to find sufficient money. He laughed as he said, “Sau rupaye hi nikal rahe hai!”

Anupam then finally got Rs. 300 which he handed over to Mahesh Bhatt. The veteran filmmaker proudly showed it to the media before keeping it safely in his pocket. Anupam Kher then stated, “If a biopic is made on my life, Bhatt saab would have a very important role!”

Earlier this year, it came to light that Adah Sharma had moved into the residence of the late Sushant Singh Rajput. The actor used to reside on the sixth floor of Mont Blanc building in Bandra West, Mumbai in a sea-facing duplex consisting of 4BHK and a terrace. At an event held on August 12 to announce the upcoming films of Vikram Bhatt, Adah spoke about this residence.

A journalist asked Adah Sharma whether she had bought the flat or would be staying there as a tenant. Adah replied, “I took that flat on rent. Rs. 378 crores earned by The Kerala Story(2023) are not mine! Not just me, even my grandmother contributes to it. She argued that since she also resides there, she'll also pay the rent. My mother doesn't work. Hence, she doesn't contribute. But she cooks great food for us.”

Adah then revealed, “That house belongs to a certain Mr Lalwani. I believe that he's settled in South Africa. Even Sushant used to stay in that house on rent.”

Vikram Bhatt, at this point, added, “And her house has no furniture. She doesn't believe in furniture!” Adah laughed and said, “Even my earlier house didn't have furniture.” Vikram wondered aloud, “I don't know what that means!”

Adah Sharma continued laughing and replied, “It means that I like space. I like dancing and when I dance, I don’t want ki mera haath kahin pe lag jaaye. In Mumbai, we pay for space and if I am staying in such a beautiful house, I’d like ki main uss ghar mein freely ghoomu! And hence, there’s no furniture in my house.”

Adah Sharma would be seen in Vikram Bhatt’s directorial Tumko Meri Kasam. It also stars Anupam Kher, Ishwak Singh and Esha Deol and is one of the four films produced by Ajay Murdia’s Indira Entertainment. Vikram Bhatt has also backed these ventures.

In December 2022, Bollywood Hungama broke the viral news that even 2 ½ years after Sushant Singh Rajput's demise, no one is ready to move in that flat. Rafique Merchant, a real-estate broker and a reputed influencer, told us, “People are scared to move into this flat. When prospective tenants would hear that this is the same apartment where he died, they would not even visit the flat. Nowadays, people are at least visiting the flat as the news of his death has become old. Yet, the deal is not getting finalized.”

The thrilling javelin showdown between India's Neeraj Chopra and Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem at the Paris Olympics 2024 has captivated the world. With Nadeem securing gold and Chopra claiming silver, the duo has etched their names in sporting history. As the dust settles on this epic rivalry, the two athletes have shared their dream casting for potential biopics.

In the previous edition of the Olympics held in Tokyo, Neeraj Chopra made history by winning the gold medal in javelin, while Arshad Nadeem finished fifth. However, the tables turned in Paris when the 27-year-old Pakistani athlete, Arshad Nadeem, launched his javelin to an astonishing 92.97 meters, breaking a 16-year-old Olympic record. Neeraj Chopra, with a second-best career throw of 89.45 meters, secured the silver medal, adding another prestigious accolade to his already impressive list of achievements. Bollywood Icons Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan Named for Potential Biopics Following their success at the Paris Olympics, Neeraj Chopra and Arshad Nadeem were interviewed by the official broadcaster, Sports18 network, and JioCinema. During the interview, the athletes were asked a rather intriguing question: Which Bollywood actor would they choose to portray each other in a biopic about their careers?

Neeraj Chopra suggested that the legendary Amitabh Bachchan from his younger days would be the perfect fit to portray Arshad Nadeem in a biopic. He explained that someone with a tall stature and commanding presence like Amitabh Bachchan would be ideal for the role.

On the other hand, Arshad Nadeem took a moment to reflect before naming Shah Rukh Khan as his choice to play Neeraj Chopra. “Shah Rukh Khan has that energy and charisma," he said.

Shah Rukh Khan has always been known for his versatility as an actor. However, not many know that he initially turned down the iconic role of Devdas in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s eponymous film. Speaking at the 77th Locarno Film Festival, the superstar revealed his reservations about the character. "Devdas was a guy who's an alcoholic, doesn't commit to a girl, and goes away. I could not find any essence in it at my age," Shah Rukh confessed.

Shah Rukh Khan’s Initial Reservations Reflecting on the role, Khan said, "Devdas was the movie that my mother loved watching, and my dad also used to talk about it. It's one of the greatest classic films with Dilip Kumar. But when Mr. Sanjay Leela Bhansali approached me, I initially said no. I thought Devdas was a loser, an alcoholic, and I was too cool to play him." However, Bhansali's persistence, coupled with the director's exceptional talent, eventually led Shah Rukh to agree to the project. A Character Study, Not an Idol During the discussion, Shah Rukh Khan made it clear that he never intended for audiences to admire Devdas. "I don't like to play characters that demean women. I'll be honest. I didn't want him to be liked for the reason in the film that he, you know, doesn't commit to a woman and essentially abandons her. I wanted him to come across as a spineless person, not someone you should look up to."

He further added, “It's enjoyable to watch, but it's not a character you take back home. Yes, the film was beautifully made, and the performances were strong, but Devdas as a person was not admirable. He was tragic, but that doesn't make him a hero.”

As part of the Locarno Film Festival tribute, Devdas was screened once again, reminding audiences of its unforgettable tragedy. The film’s tragic ending, where Devdas dies on the streets longing for one last glimpse of Paro, remains etched in the memories of those who have seen it.

Filmmaker Nikkhil Advani has shared candid insights into his relationship with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. Known for their collaborations on films like Salaam-e-Ishq and Hero, the duo shares a strong bond. However, the director has revealed the underlying reason for their limited collaborations. During a chat with Lallantop, Nikkhil Advani candidly admitted that the immense pressure to deliver box office hits exceeding Rs 300 crores is a significant factor in his decision to steer clear of directing Salman Khan films.

Nikkhil Advani Reveals Reason Behind Not Working With Salman Khan Nikkhil asserted, “Salman Khan films have to make more than Rs 300 crores. If his films do less than that, he feels really bad, and I don’t want that burden. I want to sleep peacefully at night and not carry the burden of making that Rs 300-400 crores (grossing) film. I want to make films that I want to. I love Salman, he is my messiah.

He further added, “There is that option of, ‘In case of emergency, please call’, that’s Salman for me on my phone. I know he will leave everything and come. Even if he is doing the biggest action scene, if someone calls him, he will say, ‘I will go, this one’s in trouble.’ He is the messiah of the industry. But I don’t want to have that stress of Rs 300-400 crores. If it happens, great, but I don’t want that stress,” he added.

Speaking of the professional front, Nikkhil Advani is currently awaiting the release of his next film, Vedaa. Starring John Abraham and Sharvari, the actioner will have a box office clash with Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2 and Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein. It is scheduled to release on August 15. Meanwhile, Salman, who was recently seen in AP Dhillon’s music video ‘Old Money,’ has started shooting for his next with Sajid Nadiadwala and AR Murugadoss, Sikandar.

Malayali actor Roshan Mathew is very happy to have shared screen space with Janhvi Kapoor in Sudhanshu Saria’s Ulajh.

In an exclusive chat, Roshan said, “Janhvi is very dedicated to her work, and is always striving to make the scene and her performance better. That’s good energy for an actor to carry on set, we had a very comfortable working equation and I enjoyed my scenes with her.”

About being part of Ulajh Roshan revealed, “It was fun. It’s unlike any other film I’ve done so far. And it was a young energetic cast and crew, we shot in London and India. It’s an espionage thriller, you could say. And I got a character who is ‘unshackled’ so there was a lot of scope to have fun with him. Janhvi and the rest of the team were also lovely to work with.

I enjoy finding their reasons. Why someone does something. Nobody with a sane mind wants to be a bad guy, or to do something wrong. Corrupted values, ego, flawed morals all are a result of circumstances in some way. I try figuring them out and making them real and relatable (to) people. We’re all made of the same things, after all.”

About his forthcoming projects, Roshan said, “I have Chera with Nimisha Sajayan, and Ithiri Neram with Zarin Shihab. (These) are two films I’ve completed in Malayalam. There’s also a series called KanKhajura in Hindi, with Mohit Raina we’ve completed for SonyLiv. Shooting a series in Tamil now, directed by Nishanth Kalidindi.”

Over the past 26 years, Karan Johar has crafted a legacy in Indian cinema, but amid the success, there is one regret that lingers—the absence of his late father, Yash Johar, to witness the pinnacle of his achievements. In a recent appearance on Zakir Khan’s new show, Aapka Apna Zakir, Karan Johar opened up about his father's impact on his life and career.

Yash Johar’s Influence on Karan’s Journey Yash Johar, a revered producer in the Indian film industry, embarked on his production journey with the 1980 film Dostana. Karan Johar recalls the hardships his father faced in the industry, especially during times of failure. "I've witnessed a lot of failures through my father’s journey, and that is when I realized that nothing is easy," he shared. Watching his father navigate the ups and downs of the industry, Karan learned resilience—a quality that would later become crucial in his own career. The Unwavering Support of Yash and Hiroo Johar Karan Johar fondly remembers the support he received from his parents, Yash Johar and Hiroo Johar. His father’s unwavering belief in him, even when the industry was harsh, left an indelible mark on Karan. Recalling a touching memory, Karan said, “My father used to say, ‘You’re so handsome, you should become a hero!’” This sentiment was often met with playful skepticism by his mother, Hiroo Johar, who would humorously dismiss the idea. A Legacy Left Unfulfilled As Karan Johar's career soared, with landmark films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) under his belt, Yash Johar’s pride in his son knew no bounds. Karan reminisces about how his father would introduce him as “the best director in all of India.” However, the joy of sharing his success with his father was cut short. Yash Johar passed away in 2004, just as Dharma Productions, the company he founded, was entering a phase of unprecedented success. "My biggest regret is that he wasn’t with me when Dharma Productions was going through its best phase," Karan revealed.

Speaking of the professional front, KJo’s last directorial was Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh. Reportedly, Karan is all set to direct another untitled film. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Sophie Choudry revealed her personal hair care and styling routine. The singer and actress opened up about how she maintains her locks, sharing insights into her hair care practices and favorite products.

Washing and Conditioning Routine

Sophie emphasized that she only washes her hair twice a week. “I can't wash it every day. Twice a week and condition it, and then I do a treatment at least once a month,” she said. Due to her fine hair texture, frequent washing can make her hair flat, which she tries to avoid.

Treatments and Care

She highlighted the importance of regular treatments and masks. “I do a lot of treatments, masks, all of that kind of stuff. I just brush it before I sleep, and I always use, like, a satin band to tie it up,” Sophie mentioned. She also shared that she began experimenting with colors and highlights at a young age, which necessitates extra care.

Diet and Vitamins

According to Sophie, a healthy diet and vitamins play a crucial role in hair health. “What you have on the inside reflects on the outside, on your skin and in your hair,” she explained, advocating for a nutritious diet to support overall hair and skin health.

Product Preferences

Sophie prefers using gentle, organic, and chemical-free products whenever possible. “I try and use very gentle products, even in my lotions and everything for my skin and my body. I try to use paraben-free,” she noted. Although she uses a lot of hairspray, she avoids wax and aims for products that are clean and organic.

Brushing Techniques

Discussing proper brushing techniques, Sophie stressed the importance of being careful with wet hair. “The one mistake people make a lot is they brush their hair a lot when it's completely wet, and that's when you can break your hair. You have to be so careful,” she advised. Sophie recommends using different brushes for wet and dry hair and brushing in sections to avoid damage.

Sophie Choudry’s hair care and styling tips offer valuable insights for those looking to maintain healthy and stylish hair. By combining regular treatments, a balanced diet, and careful product selection, she manages to keep her hair looking vibrant and strong.

Actor-comedian Cyrus Broacha recently shared some amusing stories about his interactions with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan during his podcast, Cyrus Says. These anecdotes shed light on the lighter side of Salman Khan.

Falling Asleep During Bigg Boss Cyrus Broacha recalled an incident from his time on Bigg Boss, where he inadvertently fell asleep while Salman Khan was addressing the contestants. “The first time Salman was on, I think it was the first eviction, and he was being very serious in his style where he is giving some lecture to somebody and I was passing out. And then he started laughing because he never met a contestant who has fallen asleep while he is talking. Usually, all the other contestants go berserk like ‘Salman Bhai’ and I was napping,” Broacha shared. The Egg Incident Broacha also discussed his dissatisfaction with the food in the Bigg Boss house and how Salman Khan sent him some eggs on the day he left the show. “He (Salman Khan) sent me eggs, the day I actually got out. So what happened, the eggs came and five minutes later, they asked me to leave. I had issue with my son. Long story. Anyway, I got out. After I left, Pooja Bhatt’s father (Mahesh Bhatt) called me to check on his daughter. And Pooja started to fight with them (contestants). Because, apparently, the moment I left, all the contestants went for the eggs. She was very hurt. Where’s the emotion?” Interviewing Salman Khan While Hungover In another humorous tale, Cyrus Broacha recounted an interview with Salman Khan during his MTV days when he was completely hungover. He said, “I was out until 3 in the morning. I was completely drunk. Salman Khan’s secretary, during the film Yuvvraaj, called and said you can do the interview today. They woke me up and made me leave at 9 in the morning. I was so hungover, I stopped at Lucky Biryani. I remember there were Irani boys there. I had to vomit there. The only person who understood what I was going through was Salman Khan. No judgement.” The Arm-Touching Incident Cyrus Broacha’s podcast co-host, Cyrus Sahukar, chimed in with another memorable moment, highlighting the only time Salman Khan got slightly irritated with Broacha. “He has always been super nice to you. I think the only time he got slightly irritated with you was when in an interview you kept saying ‘Can I touch your arm?’ and he was like, ‘Hey, take it easy’.”

The John Abraham-Sharvari starrer Vedaa has been in the news after its makers two weeks back announced that they are yet to get a censor certificate though they applied their film to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) well in advance. The CBFC’s Examining Committee (EC) saw the film in June-end and it was sent to the Revising Committee (RC). After the makers spoke up, the RC finally saw the film on July 29 and decided to clear the film. There were reports that not a single cut have been imposed in the film. Bollywood Hungama, however, has learned that Vedaa was subject to certain deletions and modifications by the CBFC’s RC.

To begin with, a 1-minute-16-second long modified disclaimer and voiceover were asked to be added. A dialogue with derogatory references towards women and social identity was asked to be modified. Then, a 2-minute-16-second long hanging scene was deleted. The word 'Jodhpur' was muted while referring to Jodhpur High Court and visuals of violence inside the court premises were asked to be reduced by 30%. By doing so, the makers had to chop off 6 minutes 15 seconds of the film.

That's not all, a character is seen listening to an audio track on a mobile phone with Sanskrit shlokas. This song was deleted by the CBFC. An abusive word 'behenkhor' was replaced with 'bana'. The CBFC also asked the makers to blur visuals of the tearing of currency notes and pieces of the currency notes. Moreover, the text information 'Brahmin son...Shudra's son' was asked to be deleted.

Lastly, the makers submitted authentic references, that is newspaper articles, court judgments, religious scriptures etc. to indicate the film is inspired by true events.

In all, the CBFC deleted 9 minutes and 14 seconds of the film. Once the changes were done, Vedaa was granted a U/A certificate on August 6. The length of the film, as mentioned on the certificate, is 150 minutes. In other words, Vedaa is 2 hours and 30 minutes long. Directed by Nikkhil Advani, it releases in cinemas on August 15.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “The Presiding Officer of the RC was Padma Shri Ramesh Patange. He is known to clear those films for which the EC has had reservations. In recent times, he also cleared the controversial film Hamare Baraah and it’s no surprise that he also passed Vedaa, subject to certain modifications.”

Veteran Bollywood actress and Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan recently stirred controversy in Parliament by objecting to being addressed by her husband's name, actor Amitabh Bachchan. The issue was highlighted during Monday's session when Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar addressed her as 'Smt Jaya Amitabh Bachchan,' as listed on her nomination papers.

Rajya Sabha Chairman Schools Jaya Bachchan  In a video that has since gone viral, Dhankhar can be seen addressing the SP MP by her official name. Jaya Bachchan, however, objected, asking, "Sir, aapko Amitabh ka matlab pata hai na?" (Sir, do you know what Amitabh means?). In response, Dhankhar stated, "Ma'am aap badal dijiye, main badalwa dunga. There is a procedure to change the name that you have submitted for your election certificate. I had made use of the provision myself in 1989, and it is available for all the members. Please change it officially then."

This response evoked cheers and claps from the other members of Parliament.

What’s wrong with Jaya Bachchan? On one hand, she says she is very proud of her husband; on the other hand, she has a problem with the Speaker calling her by her full name—the name she provided herself. Glad that Jagdeep Dhankhar ji taught her a lesson. pic.twitter.com/SCwRSAvH4N

Jaya Bachchan's Clarification Despite the exchange, Jaya Bachchan clarified that she is proud of her husband's achievements and has no shame in being associated with him. However, she maintains that she has her own identity, separate from her husband's. Why Jaya Bachchan Objected Being Called Amitabh Bachchan’s Wife?  The controversy first arose on July 29 when Jaya Bachchan objected to the Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, Harivansh Narayan Singh, introducing her as Jaya Amitabh Bachchan. She asserted that she has an identity of her own, independent of her husband's name. In a subsequent session, she introduced herself as "Main Jaya Amitabh Bachchan," prompting laughter from Dhankhar and reactions from netizens, some of whom labeled her a "hypocrite."

Sunidhi Chauhan is one of the most popular Bollywood vocalists. In a recent interview, the actress discussed her path and highlighted times where she was not paid for her work, as well as lobbying.

Sunidhi Chauhan revealed on Raj Shamani's podcast that she was not reimbursed for some of her most memorable and lauded performances, despite being one of the industry's most sought-after and highest-paid singers.

Raj Shamani shed light on a horrifying Bollywood practice in which vocalists are forced to record many versions of a song, with just the chosen one receiving compensation while the others are left unpaid. He questioned Sunidhi Chauhan if there are any money concerns in the profession, to which she replied that unpaid work is a common occurrence for vocalists.

However, Sunidhi Chauhan stressed that renowned singers like herself have the right to seek recompense for their labour. She emphasised that, in general, singers have the option of requesting upfront payment or negotiating a post-recording settlement, resulting in a mutual understanding that absolves either party of culpability.

Sunidhi then said, “I haven’t got money for many movies, even today they don’t give me. They ask and I choose not to take it because I feel for this song I don’t need money. At some places I would like to help so I say my price and I sing the song. You don’t want to hurt anybody’s ego because everyone does not think like you. They might also not understand how you feel.”

When asked about Sonu Nigam's controversial remark about Bollywood's supposed mafia rule, he replied, "Kuch hi log hain, kuch hi logo ko aage badhayenge?" Chauhan confessed to this, claiming that lobbying existed everywhere, including award ceremonies, music, films, and reality shows. “It’s something you cannot avoid. You do your work, and if you want to get involved, do it to fix things,” she said.
