Hansal Mehta and Pratik Gandhi’s collaboration in Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story turned out to be one of the most iconic Hindi web shows. The web series told the life story of the stock market scamster Harshad Mehta. The two also collaborated for the short film Baai in the anthology Modern Love: Mumbai.

Mehta and Gandhi’s next collaboration in the form of a web series on Mohandar Karamchand Gandhi aka Mahatma Gandhi is keenly awaited as it is the first show of the duo after Scam 1992. The web series is adapted from historian Ramachandra Guha’s books ‘Gandhi Before India’ and ‘Gandhi: The Years That Changed The World.’ The show will see Pratik play Gandhi while it will be produced by Applause Entertainment, which had also produced Scam 1992.

In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Hungama, Hansal Mehta revealed that the show is all set to commence shoot soon. “We are very heavily into pre-production. We will be commencing shoot within maximum of a month. We are preparing to begin shooting,” he said.

Interestingly, Pratik has played Gandhi before in Manoj Shah’s Gujarati play Mohan No Masalo. He also starred in the Hindi and English adaptations of the same play. Although Hansal has seen the play, he said that that wasn’t the reason why he cast Pratik to play Gandhi in his show. “Pratik was cast in the show by Applause (Entertainment). I came into the show a month after Pratik was cast. After Pratik was cast and after I came in, we all went together to watch the play,” said the filmmaker.

Hansal pointed out that the play is hugely different from the show they are set out to make, although both are based on Gandhi’s life. “They are two different interpretations,” he said. “One, it is theatre. And it’s an interpretation of his life through a monologue. It’s a one-man act. It’s incredibly well performed. It’s incredible! But what we are doing right now is something far beyond that. It’s a different interpretation and a different medium altogether. We are doing our best to do something that we have never seen before.”

Bollywood actors Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone will be paired opposite for the first time in Siddharth Anand’s Fighter. While this marks the third collaboration between Hrithik and Siddharth after Bang Bang and War, this is the second one for Deepika after Pathaan. The duo has been in Italy for two song shoots and several photos have surfaced online of the same.

Hrithik Roshan has been busy with his shoot schedule. Choreographer Alisha Behura shared two photos with Hrithik from their Italy shoot. She wrote, “With The Handsome Hunk @hrithikroshan sir. Thanku @boscomartis sir for everything love you always & ???? to our best team.” The actor wore a white shirt, blue sweatshirt and denims in the first picture.

For Fighter, Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone flew to Italy for a 15-day schedule to shoot two songs. One is a foot-tapping dance number, composed by Vishal and Shekhar, and choreographed by Bosco and Caeser. The second song is a quintessential romantic ballad that will showcase the chemistry between Hrithik and Deepika.

Fighter is reportedly being planned as a trilogy and is produced by Siddharth Anand and Mamta Anand under their banner, Marflix Entertainment, in association with Viacom 18. Bollywood actress Nushrratt Bharuccha is reportedly stranded in Israel amid the ongoing war between Israel and Palestine. In a recent update, reports suggest that the Bollywood actress is in Israel amid the ongoing war and her team has not been able to contact her since Saturday afternoon. The actress was in Israel for Akelli premiere which was officially selected at the 39th Haifa International Film Festival.

In a statement, a member of her team said, as per India Today, “Nushrratt has been unfortunately stranded in Israel. She had flown there to attend the Haifa International Film Festival. The last time that I managed to get in touch with her was around 12.30 pm earlier today when she was safe in a basement. For safety measures, further details cannot be disclosed. However, since then, we were not able to connect. We are trying to get Nushrratt back safely to India and hope she returns back in the best of health and unharmed.”

On Sunday morning, a statement from her team member to ANI read, "We have finally managed to get in touch with Actress Nushrratt Bharuccha and with the help of the Embassy, she is being safely brought back home. She is safe and on her way to India."

For unversed, Palestinian militant group Hamas fired more than 5,000 rockets towards Israel from Gaza strip on Saturday which has reportedly killed at least 250 people and wounded several others. This set off sirens across the country. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel “was at war” in a video statement on Saturday. “We are at war, not an operation. Hamas has launched a murderous surprise attack against the State of Israel and its citizens. I ordered first of all to cleanse the settlements of the terrorists who had infiltrated and ordered a large-scale mobilization of reserves. The enemy will pay a price they have never known,” he said.

Arjan Bajwa, a seasoned performer renowned in both pan-Indian and Southern cinema, has now secured a prominent role in an international production.  Expanding his horizons to the international stage, Arjan takes the lead in the South Asian international production titled Demon Hunters, an enchanting action-comedy produced by the global company Light House Productions.

This venture is helmed by director Mei-Juin Chen (known for Gangster’s Daughter and National Geographic's Kung Fu Secrets) and celebrated director-cinematographer Tony Cheung, renowned for his work in Jackie Chan's The Legends of Drunken Master, Dragon Blade, and the recent release Hidden Strike, featuring John Cena on Netflix.

When asked about his selection for this pivotal role, Arjan expresses, "It's an exhilarating character, and I'm thrilled to have been chosen to portray a computer geek seeking vengeance for his grandfather's death. The casting team reached out to me about six to eight months ago. They carefully reviewed my body of work, and after meticulous and detailed meetings, things fell into place. We engaged in workshops and training before the shoot, which was an amazing learning experience."

Demon Hunters is currently in production, featuring popular stars like JC Lin (known for series like What the Hell is Love and the film Some Day or One Day) and Regina Lei (known for Antikalpa on Netflix), along with the seasoned actor Jack Kao from the Assassin and Gatao series on Netflix.

Arjan has an intriguing lineup of diverse projects in both series and films, and he quips, "I am eagerly anticipating an exciting 2024." Demon Hunters is set to premiere globally in the autumn of 2024.

Akshay Kumar’s courtroom drama OMG 2 was released after suffering negativity due to the insane number of cuts imposed by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Despite the cuts, the film was awarded an ‘A’ certificate. Akshay Kumar, during the promotions of his latest release, Mission Raniganj, was asked about it and whether it upsets him that the under-18 youngsters couldn’t watch such an important film.

Akshay Kumar replied, “Well, rules are rules. They (Central Board of Film Certification) felt it was an adult film. But did you guys feel it was an adult film? It was a film that should be shown to youngsters because I made it for them. Thankfully, it’s going to come tomorrow on Netflix. The important thing is that people should know about it.”

He further discussed this topic while also opening up about whether he faces pressure when backing such unconventional films that might probably not score at the box office. Akshay opined, “When I made Toilet – Ek Prem Katha (2017), everybody told me, ‘Yeh koi title hua? Are you mad? Are you telling me that you are making a film on shauchalaya?’. I went ahead and made it. Don't discourage me by making me think how much business my films will do. Give me courage that I should think at least, these kinds of films are made so that we can enlighten the audience that it’s time to change the society.”

He further said, “I made a film on sanitary pads (Pad Man; 2018). Kisi ke baap mein dum nahin tha ki sanitary pad pe film banaye. Koi haath bhi nahin lagata tha pad ko. I won’t name the person but I was standing with someone. We all stood with pads. He also was handed one pad. His PA whispered in my ear, ‘Yeh inke haath mein mat dilao. Accha nahin lagta’.”

Akshay Kumar spoke to a group of journalists for the promotion of Mission Raniganj about the film and a lot more. He made an important comment about doing multi-city tours and how it can prove to be a futile exercise. He even gave the example of his film Selfiee (2023) which was promoted in several cities and yet, bombed at the box office.

Akshay Kumar said, “This (Mission Raniganj) is a word of mouth film. Aisa nahin hota hai ki mere kisi shehar mein jaane se meri film chalegi. Maine dekh liya Selfiee mein. Sab jagah ghoom liya. Aisa kuch nahin hota.”

Akshay continued, “It’s not like the audience will watch a film because I have paid their city a visit. Agar logon ke padosi ne bola ki acchi film hai, toh woh jaayenge film dekhne. Somebody asked me whether my family members liked the film. Unko toh acchi hi lagegi. Buri hongi toh bhi acchi lagegi. Unke bolne se thodi koi faayda hota hai. Public ke bolne se faayda hota hai. All the actors who promote their films would claim ‘Maine badi acchi film banayi hai. Yeh film zaroor jaake dekhna’. It is about 1 person telling the other and forwarding an appreciation message to 4 others. That is the tried and tested method.”

Akshay Kumar further said, “Promotion is important, but how you do it is more important. Today, you all are asking so many questions as you guys have seen the film. If we had met before the release and I would have tried explaining what the film, sach bolta hoon, aap log bahar jaa ke bolte ‘Yeh toh bolega hi aisa’!”

Lastly, he added, “I have done 150 films. I have understood one thing. Even the media knows that when an actor is giving gyaan, how much of it is true and how much of it is false. Unke saamne gyaani banne ki koshish mat karo. Let them decide. I am so happy that I am meeting you all after you guys have watched Mission Raniganj. Nahin toh mujhe itna zor lagana padta ki ‘film mein aisa hai, fir aisa hota hai’. You won’t feel the hardship faced by the miners in the film until you watch it.”

MUMBAI DIARIES SEASON 2 is the story of doctors in a government hospital struggling to save lives during a deluge. After the events of the first season, Dr Kaushik Oberoi (Mohit Raina) is accused of failing to save ATS Anant Kelkar’s life by his wife Savita Kelkar (Sonali Kulkarni). She files a case in the court. The matter gets complicated when Dr Diya Parekh’s (Natasha Bharadwaj) testimony over the death of her mother goes against Dr Kaushik. The verdict on the case is all set to be delivered on July 26, 2009. Dr Kaushik reaches the court along with his pregnant wife Ananya (Tina Desai). Due to extreme rainfall, the judge fails to reach the court and the hearing is postponed to July 31. Ananya leaves for Pune to deliver a lecture. Dr Kaushik resumes work at Bombay General Hospital. As the first round of flood survivors get admitted, Dr Kaushik finds it difficult to treat them as he’s tormented with media coverage on his case, especially by News Today where Mansi Hirani (Shreya Dhanwanthary) has started a campaign against him. Meanwhile, Dr Ahaan Mirza (Satyajeet Dubey) has feelings for Chitra Das (Konkona Sen Sharma) and wants to take her out for a movie. But he’s too scared to ask her out. Chitra, who’s still struggling with her traumatic past, gets a shock of her life when she sees her abusive ex-husband, Dr Saurav Chandra (Parambrata Chattopadhyay), as part of a delegation that has come from UK to visit Bombay General Hospital. Dr Diya is being judged for testifying against Dr Kaushik while Dr Sujata Ajawale (Mrunmayee Deshpande) gets in trouble after getting caught forging the signature of the hospital's CMO, Dr Madhusudan Subramaniam (Prakash Belawadi). And the madness has just begun and it increases as the rains wreck havoc in the city. What happens next forms the rest of the series.

The story is excellent and peppered with captivating moments. Yash Chhetija and Persis Sodawaterwalla’s screenplay is gripping. There are multiple tracks and chaos is happening in all of them. To bind them together and at the same time to ensure that the narrative seems sensible and engaging is no easy task. But the writers come out with flying colours. Sanyuktha Chawla Shaikh’s dialogues are simple and sharp.

Nikkhil Advani’s direction is exemplary. One of the strengths is the way he has used long takes where the focus shifts from one character to another and the emergency they are attending to. The flood angle further adds to the drama. And he has inserted tons of nail-biting moments. One can feel the pressure under which the doctors function in the hospital where there’s no chance to rest even for a second. On top of it, the tension levels go to another level in the last 2 episodes thanks to the tracks of Dr Kaushik-Ananya and that of Dr Saurav-Chitra-Dr Ahaan. The show ends on a justified note and will make you respect doctors even more. The comment on how news channels manipulate the aam junta is an eye-opener.

On the flipside, the initial episodes are dragging. One might even question the makers that why did they incorporate those tracks that have nothing to do with floods. Of course, later on, it makes sense but initially, one might get restless over the pace and the number of tracks. Secondly, it’s bewildering why the makers never showed the courtroom scene of Dr Diya; it would have given more weightage. Lastly, the scene of Dr Sujata blasting Dr Kaushik in the morgue in front of the deceased’s husband is plain silly.

Mohit Raina yet again scores a sixer. He displays his vulnerability with perfection. Konkona Sen Sharma is terrific and especially nails the scenes of the trauma. Parambrata Chattopadhyay is flawless as a manipulative, abusive person. Satyajeet Dubey, Natasha Bharadwaj and Mrunmayee Deshpande are too good as doctors who now have experience but are still new to this world. Prakash Belawadi is adorable and one can’t help but root for him. Tina Desai is a surprise. The way she has acted proves that she is a stupendous performer. Shreya Dhanwanthary is dependable as expected. Sonali Kulkarni shines in a cameo. Balaji Gauri (Cherian) is fine but to make her shout in all scenes gets on the nerves after a point. The others who deliver fabulous performances are Akshar Kothari (Inspector Mayank Bhat), Amit Jairath (Sachin; Mansi’s cameraman), Adithi K S (Vidya; nurse), Vasundhara Kaul (Mallika; Mansi’s boss), Pushkaraj Chirputkar (Samarth), Samaresh Das (Sandeep Raut), Jaimini Pathak (Prashant Raut; Sandeep’s father), Kalyanee Mulay (Shaalu; Sandeep’s mother), Sharad Ponkshe (Yogesh Kulkarni) and Milind Vijay Phatak (Jaywant; juvenile home in-charge). Sanjay Narvekar (Jadhav) is a bit over the top.

Ashutosh Pathak’s music is nothing special. ‘Rab Ne Sab Ke’ registers a bit due to the haunting feel. Ashutosh Pathak’s background score enhances the thrill. Malay Prakash’s cinematography is splendid. However, the scene where Ananya is being taken on an inflatable bed is bad. The camerawork could have taken better angles in what could have been the money shot of the series. Priya Suhass’ production design is rich and detailed. The VFX is also superb, especially the scenes of the city under water. Sheetal Iqbal Sharma’s costumes are non-glamorous, as per the requirement. Mohammed Amin Khatib’s action is limited. Maahir Zaveri’s editing could have been sharper in the initial episodes.

On the whole, MUMBAI DIARIES SEASON 2 is a nail-biting thriller that deserves a watch due to its script, execution, message and outstanding performances by the lead and secondary cast.

Following the summoning of Bollywood celebs Ranbir Kapoor, Huma Qureshi, Kapil Sharma and Hina Khan, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has now extended its probe into the Mahadev App case, summoning actress Shraddha Kapoor, as per a report in Hindustan Times.

As per the report, Shraddha Kapoor has received a summons from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) concerning her connection to the online betting case involving the Mahadev App. The actress is scheduled to make her appearance before the ED on Friday, October 6. It is alleged that she endorsed the app, and the ED is investigating whether the payment she received for this endorsement might have originated from illicit sources.

Earlier it was reported that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had taken this step as part of its ongoing investigation into the promotion and activities related to the Mahadev App. Huma Qureshi and Hina Khan had been summoned due to their alleged involvement in promoting the app, while Kapil Sharma was called in for attending the success party of Mahadev App held in Dubai last September.

This development came after Ranbir Kapoor was also issued a summons by the ED in connection with the same case. Ranbir has been asked to appear before the ED on October 6, 2023. It has been reported that the actor is alleged to have received cash payments for promotional activities related to the betting app.

The Enforcement Directorate's investigation into the Mahadev App case appears to be widening its scope, with prominent figures from the entertainment industry being called in for questioning regarding their roles in the promotion and association with the app.

As the probe continues, further details regarding the extent of involvement of these celebrities in the betting app case are expected to emerge

This Friday saw the release of Dono, which marks the directorial debut of Sooraj Barjatya’s son Avnish S Barjatya and the acting debut of Sunny Deol’s son Rajveer Deol and Poonam Dhillon’s daughter Paloma. It is backed by Rajshri Productions and as expected, it is a clean family entertainer. However, Dono is not the typical Rajshri film as it features kissing scenes. Interestingly, the kissing scenes form a crucial part of the story. It is not added for the heck of it. In fact, it takes the story forward. At the same time, it’s shown in an aesthetic and pleasing manner and is not explicit. Hence, families will still be able to sit through the kissing scenes without feeling uncomfortable.

At the trailer launch of the film, Sooraj Barjatya was also present and he revealed, “When Avnish narrated the concept (of Dono), I told him you are free to make what you want but I told him to remember that tumhari film dekhne Rajshri ki audience bhi aayegi.”

Dono is the story of a boy and a girl who meet at a destination wedding abroad and fall in love with each other. Sunny Deol spoke highly of Rajshri Productions at the trailer launch event. He stated, “You all know about Rajshri Productions. Like Disney, they make films for the whole family. That’s what they have been doing ever since. Kabhi behke nahin. This film is also on the same lines. You might say ‘Inn logon ne phir se shaadi ke upar film banayi’. Their films are about extended families coming together during a marriage. Dono is also about marriage, families and emotions. But the difference is that it’s today’s film. It’s a film about today’s generation. I can vouch for it as I have seen the film.”

Sooraj Barjatya then revealed that Sunny Deol asked him to launch Rajveer with Dono saying, “Then Sunny ji called me ki 'Suna hai ki aap bete ki picture bana rahe ho'. I don't know if Rajveer knows about this episode. Main ghabra gaya and the first thing I told Sunny is that ‘Lekin iss film mein action nahin hai’! He told me, ‘It’s ok. I want a subject which my son will love and it should be from the heart’.”

He also added, “Then Poonam ji spoke to my sister, Anuradha. The first pictures we saw of Paloma was where she was holding a gun! Yet, both Avnish and I realized that she’ll suit the part of Meghna.”

The Fukrey franchise has carved its niche as one of India's beloved and hilarious film series. With the third instalment, Fukrey 3, that hit the screens on September 28, 2023, the makers have decided to treat moviegoers with a special offer.

The film has had a very good Week 1 (first seven days) for the comedy Fukrey 3 as Rs. 62.90 crores have come in already. That has resulted in a healthy first week which has basically assured a hit status for it.

The film is now moving well towards the Rs. 100 crores mark. The movie with which it will have a competition is Dream Girl 2 which also managed to just about go past the Rs. 100 crores mark in its lifetime. By the look of things, Fukrey 3 will end up surpassing that by a couple of crores, which will make this the second consecutive comedy franchise to be successful in quick succession.

Suhana Khan, daughter of Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan, is gearing up for the release of her debut film The Archies in December. Helmed by Zoya Akhtar, the young actress is elated to be a part of an iconic project. At the India Today Conclave 2023 on Wednesday, she attended the panel titled ‘New Kids on the Block: Meet the Gen Z of Bollywood aka The Archies Gang'.

Suhana Khan reflected on her first day on set by saying, "I guess all of that is very different from being in a Netflix film and being on a real film set as a working actor, I think, from the number of people on set, from the number of lights on set and the hair and makeup and all the chaos. And in the middle of this, I felt extremely insignificant. And, I guess I kind of knew that everything that everyone was doing around me was felicitating the director’s vision, Zoya’s vision and I guess knowing that on my first day and realising that, I felt extremely nervous."

As she will play the role of Veronica Lodge in the movie, Suhana Khan added that her parents Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan are her biggest source of guidance. Popular Pakistani actress Mahira Khan tied the knot with her longtime businessman beau Salim Karim on September 30, 2023. The actress was in a relationship with Karim for a little over five years and kept it private. Salim Karim is the CEO of the Pakistani startup Simpaisa. Following her intimate wedding with families and close friends in attendance, the actress took to Instagram to share the first video from the wedding.

Swades actress Gayatri Joshi and her husband Vivek Oberoi met with a car accident in Italy which left an elderly couple dead. The actress was reportedly in multiple car collision in Sardinia when the Swiss couple travelling in a Ferrari died in collision after their vehicle caught fire. The actress and her husband are doing well.

As per a report in Free Press Journal, Gayatri Joshi said, “Vikas and I are in Italy. We met with an accident here. With god’s grace, we both are absolutely fine.”

The report revealed that multiple collisions took place when the Ferrari and a Lamborghini were trying to overtake a camper van at the same time, which led to the Ferrari catching fire and the van overturning. The accident is believed to have been recorded and surfaced online.

Gayatri Joshi tied the knot with businessman Vikas Oberoi in 2005 and the couple have two kids.

Following the new release dates announcements of Yodha and Merry Christmas, the makers of Shahid Kapoor – Kriti Sanon starrer sci-fi romantic comedy have postponed their movie to 2024. Slated to release on February 9 next year, the movie will arrive ahead of Valentine’s Day 2024. The film was set for a December 7, 2023 release earlier.

There have also been reports about the yet-untitled film that it will see Kriti Sanon as a robot and Shahid Kapoor as a scientist, who falls in love with the former. Dharmendra is also part of the project who plays Shahid’s grandfather.

Over a week, a source close to the film confirmed to Bollywood Hungama that the lead actors were shooting for a song. The source said, “A huge set has been put up in Mumbai where the song will be shot. It is obviously going to be a groovy dance track and we can’t wait to see Shahid’s dancing magic on the big screen soon.”

Yodha starring Sidharth Malhotra in the lead, which was scheduled for December 15, 2023, has now been preponed to December 8, 2023. The film is an action saga directed by Sagar Ambre and Pushkar Ojha. Earlier this morning, the makers of Katrina Kaif – Vijay Sethupathi starrer Merry Christmas also announced that their movie will release a week early too. Now, both films will clash at the box office, once again.

Last week, Bollywood Hungama learnt that Yodha, which is scheduled to release on December 15, will move to another date. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Yodha is produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. Karan realized that it’ll be difficult for Yodha to retain screens in the second week once Dunki and Salaar arrive in cinemas. Moreover, it’ll become challenging even for Dunki and Salaar’s distributors since theatres would not want to lose out on Yodha, especially if it does well.”

The source continued, “Karan Johar has a long association with Shah Rukh Khan, which is well known. Also, he’s close to Prabhas as well since KJo presented Baahubali series in Hindi. Hence, out of respect for Shah Rukh Khan and Prabhas, he has decided to bring Yodha on some other date.”

Salman Khan is excited to celebrate his 35 years in cinema with Tiger 3 which has been produced by Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films. Salman is elated with the response that the first video asset, Tiger Ka Message from Tiger 3, is getting from audiences worldwide. Yash Raj Films released Tiger Ka Message last week, a video that is a precursor to the trailer of Tiger 3, and it was an instant blockbuster on the internet!

The much-awaited film Merry Christmas, starring Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi, has got a new release date. The film, directed by Sriram Raghavan, was set to be released on December 15, 2023, in both Hindi and Tamil. Now, the film will be released a week prior on December 8, 2023.

The makers made the official announcement on October 3, 2023. However, the film will face competition with two movies releasing prior to that week on December 1 – Animal and Sam Bahadur – starring Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal, respectively.

Merry Christmas is produced by Ramesh Taurani, Jaya Taurani, Sanjay Routray, and Kewal Garg. The film has been shot in two languages, Hindi and Tamil, with different supporting actors.

The Hindi version features Sanjay Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Pratima Kannan, and Tinnu Anand, while the Tamil version stars Radhika Sarathkumar, Shanmugaraja, Kevin Jay Babu, and Rajesh Williams in the same roles. Ashwini Kalsekar and Radhika Apte will also be seen in cameos in the film. The makers of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s directorial Animal dropped the film's first teaser last week, igniting the screen with the untamed ferocity of Ranbir Kapoor. It was unveiled on Ranbir's birthday. The film also stars Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Rashmika Mandanna. Bobby's glimpse towards the end went viral on social media.

Following the buzz around the look, Bobby Deol dropped a behind-the-scenes photo of himself sporting his shirtless look. Flaunting his abtastic body, Bobby wrote, "Shoot life keeping me fit. #AnimalKaEnemy #BehindTheScenes #Animal #Grind." He is playing the antagonist in the movie.

Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan Part 1 celebrated its one-year anniversary since its release. This historical drama set in the 10th century is a cinematic adaptation of Kalki’s renowned novel of the same title. The film, curated by Ratnam and his talented team, stood as a visual spectacle. Costume designer Eka Lakhani, who has maintained a decade-long partnership with Mani Ratnam, shared the fascinating journey from initial sketches to the silver screen.

Lakhani and her team, along with historians and experts, did a costume recce at the Thanjavur temple, meticulously studying the dynasty's sculptures. Kalki’s novel and the sketches of Tamil visual artist Maniam served as pivotal reference materials. Mani Ratnam's vision for the film, along with extensive research, laid the foundation for the authentic and distinctive look of each character. Collaborating with jewellery partner Kishandas, the hair and makeup teams then crafted every look with Eka.

Eka shared, “The Chola dynasty represented a golden era of heritage, and this had to reflect through the entire kingdom's attire, not just that of the emperors. It was levels of designing from kings, queens, ministers, guards and so on.”

“Each character had their own distinct style, elements that reflected their personalities. Karthi’s Kans mama costume’s inspiration arose from a traditional Balinese outfit that Mani Sir and Rahman Sir got from a music recce for the film. Of course, the end result was completely different, but the idea of using tasks, beads and layering appliqué craft work was inspired from the sample shown to us.”

Costumes played a pivotal role in visual storytelling, setting the tone of a scene through colours and mood boards. Eka's most challenging and favourite look was the faceoff scene between Aishwarya Rai’s character (Nandini) and Trisha’s character (Kundavai), where both characters dress to outshine each other. The team's challenge was to make both characters and their armies look prominent while ensuring they complemented each other visually. This scene required a costume team of 120-130 people, including costume assistants, drapers, and dressmen. To achieve authenticity, the team meticulously studied the era's trade routes and employed natural dyeing techniques like Kumkum and haldi for the costumes.

Eka also shared how Sobhita Dhulipala would creatively contribute curating her costumes. She had a strong knowledge of textiles and fabrics and was always enthusiastic during look tests. Eka is also the stylist for Karan Johar and Ranveer Singh and worked on their recent project.

Rocky aur Rani ki Prem Kahaani as a designer. Eka and her team also styled all the promotional looks for the cast of Ponniyin Selvan. She continues to be the stylist for Trisha in her subsequent projects and event appearances. Trisha shared her experience, “The first time I met Eka at Madras Talkies' office, I had minimal knowledge about Kundavai's style, aside from past references. Eka had done extensive research and study on each character, and she had a whole book and laptop filled with looks. This was my first time working on a period film, and Eka, along with the hair, makeup, jewellery, and costume teams, made it effortless for me to transform into Kundavai. We did a 100 look tests for Kundavai, which was the most enjoyable part. She and her team had sourced materials for all the costumes from different parts of India. My favourite look, hands down, will be the coronation scene with Kundavai vs. Nandini (Aishwarya Rai). That look was Kundavai personified in every possible way.”

Karthi, one of the leads in the ensembles said, “Designing the costumes for the most iconic characters in PS was no doubt an enormous responsibility but dressing up the cast and entire chola dynasty everyday seemed like prepping for war. Eka, Malini and team handled the job with ease and their smiling faces were the first thing we encountered every morning.”

Eka Lakhani has three distinct releases as a Costume Designer this year, collaborating with renowned creative filmmakers, including Mani Ratnam for Ponniyin Selvan, Karan Johar for Rocky aur Rani ki Prem Kahaani, and Rajkumar Hirani for Dunki, starring Shah Rukh Khan.

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s latest advertisement with the platform Flipkart has landed the latter in trouble with mobile phone retailers. In their latest Hindi advertisement, which is a promotional campaign for the upcoming festive season, the actor is talking about the special mobile phone deals which are not available at the retail stores. The smartphone retailers are alleging that this is misleading the buyers.

The All India Mobile Retailers Association (AIMRA), which represents 150,000 mobile retailers, wrote a long letter to the smartphone brands to address the issue. “Our purpose in addressing you is to express our deep concern and disappointment regarding the recent wave of derogatory advertisements that have been proliferating across various online platforms, social media, and print media. These advertisements have been influencing the buying behaviour of customers through false and misleading statements, such as the one promoted by Flipkart with the endorsement of the mega star, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, stating, 'yeh Dukan per nahin milne wala' (This will not be found in stores),” AIMRA said in the letter, as reported by Economic Times.

The report also stated that the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), which represents 80 million retailers, has written a letter to Amitabh Bachchan condemning the advertisement. “We are highly disheartened to witness your recent advertisement for Flipkart, where you claimed that deals and offers are not available at shopkeepers, thereby misleading and influencing customers,” CAIT said.

This was his first time in Mumbai and he charmed the audience who wouldn't stop cheering at his hilarious jokes! This show took place a day after his Bengaluru show was cancelled. He walked onto the stage and said, “We made it! What a journey it has been!”

The crowd was a mix of all age groups enjoying a comedy show along with some celebrities and popular Mumbaikars. There is a reason this particular show was so well received. In typical Noah style, he joked about everyone. From talking about four Amani family members occupying a building to G20 posters splashed across the city he also addressed real and local problems that affect every Mumbaikar. From getting stuck in Ganpati traffic to the entire city being under construction, the jokes hit a chord with the audience. A comedian being aware of local issues and being well-read is something that charmed the Mumbai crowd.

His show comes at a time when almost anyone cracking a joke can go to an open mic and get instant fame by hurling foul language. The go-to formula for many desi comedians is just the use of one abusive word and that gets them the claps and the clicks. Noah kept his show clean and full of humour. He did not abuse or humiliate anyone in the crowd, which has become a regular sight at local comedy shows. He kept the language clean which impressed a large number of people who had come with families. "His jokes were clean and funny. He was well-prepared for the crowd with relatable jokes. Everyone in the crowd was enjoying the show." said Mumbai jeweller Devang Zaveri.

Another important thing that makes Trevor Noah instantly likeable is his reference to his South African roots. He didn't miss a chance to talk about where he comes from and also didn't hesitate before cracking jokes on politics and state of affairs. If he thinks it is funny, he says it as it is. He also made enough fun of his own show getting cancelled in Bengaluru and joked about people ordering food in Bengaluru traffic, which was the talk of the internet on that day. He did promise that he would like to visit Bengaluru soon.

There definitely is a big audience in India that enjoys good and clean comedy shows that don't get personal or pick an audience member and crack the rest of the jokes about them, almost humiliating them. Indian stand-up comic Vir Das has always managed that and that's the reason his upcoming shows in October are all sold out. And that's something Trevor Noah also achieved though he interacted with audience members but kept it funny and friendly.

Mumbai was the last leg of Trevor Noah’s ‘Off The Record’ India Tour and many B-Town stars were in attendance including Raveena Tandon, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Mandira Bedi and Milind Soman.

Disha Patani, who took to social media, to celebrate seven years of her debut film MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, shared another heartfelt post which she dedicated to her late co-star Sushant Singh Rajput. The film featured Disha in the role of Priyanka Jha and the actress shared her fond memory with the actor which was a beautiful and romantic scene from the cricket biopic based on the life of one of India’s most celebrated cricketers, Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

In the post, Disha Patani shared a scene where she confesses her love for Dhoni. For the unversed, her character was inspired by the first love of Dhoni’s life, who died in a road accident. Recalling the scene, the actress posted a heartwarming note for her co-star Sushant Singh Rajput saying, “Grateful for this beautiful journey and my first film in Hindi cinema???? Love wholeheartedly and cherish the ones who make you happy safe and heard?? life’s too short for regrets! We couldn’t say goodbye but i hope you’re happy and at peace????” Disha also took to her Instagram story to dedicate a post for the film wherein she had written, "7 years back where my journey started”.

MS Dhoni The Untold Story featured Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead role with Kiara Advani essaying the role of Sakshi Dhoni, the cricketer’s wife. The film traced the journey of the former Indian captain since his childhood until he managed to get India a win at the 2011 World Cup. It released in 2016 and turned out to be one of the most successful film of the year.

As for Disha, the actress is currently working on the Suriya starrer Kanguva as well as the Prabhas, Deepika Padukone starrer Kalki 2928 AD.

Being one of the most beloved comedy franchises, the Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Richa Chadha, Pankaj Tripathi starrer Fukrey returned on the big screen with its third installment a day ago. And ever since its release, Fukrey 3 has been receiving rave reviews from the audience. However, missing from this film is Ali Fazal, who has been a part of the other two installments, and will be marking his return in the fourth film. Explaining about how the film has been special, actress Richa Chadha took to social media to pen a heartwarming note, tracing her relationship’s journey with husband Ali Fazal through the film and expressing gratitude towards producers Excel Entertainment.

Along with a long note written by Richa Chadha, the actress posted an adorable video on Instagram wherein she and Ali Fazal are having fun and pulling each other’s leg on the sets of the film. The clip also featured montages from their wedding festivities. In the note, she made a reference to the production house’s popular web series Made In Heaven based on wedding planning, as she wrote, “Did you know, before the show @madeinheaventv, Excel productions actually got two people married, albeit inadvertently ????What a day! Can’t believe it’s been a year to this magical sangeet evening… and today, day after Fukrey 3 opens well, I can’t thank the film and providence enough for making me meet the man of my dreams @alifazal9 …”
