Abhijeet Bhattacharya sends witty text to Dua Lipa after she performs Levitating X Woh Ladki Jo in her concert

Renowned Bollywood playback singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya recently found himself in the spotlight after international pop star Dua Lipa performed a mashup of her hit ‘Levitating’ with the iconic Bollywood song ‘Woh Ladki Jo’ during her concert in Mumbai. The unexpected mashup, created by DJ Ruchir Kulkarni, sparked widespread excitement among fans while also raising questions about due credit to the creators of the original track.

Abhijeet’s Reaction to Dua Lipa’s Performance

In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Abhijeet Bhattacharya revealed that he was inundated with messages after Dua Lipa’s mashup went viral. He shared that several celebrities and corporate executives reached out to congratulate him, although he had not initially seen the performance.

Abhijeet admitted to sending a witty message to Dua Lipa, thanking her for bringing his "classic" to the masses. The singer humorously remarked on how a song, which was initially considered a flop, has found renewed life thanks to the mashup. Reflecting on the event, Abhijeet said: "Mere phone pe bhara hua hai jabse woh BKC mei programme chala. Mujhe maloom hi nai tha. Bade bade celebrities phone kar rahe hai… sab khush ho rahe hai. Maine toh ek baar bhi nai dekha phir maine ek thank you kia Dua Lipa ko ki ‘my classic meets masses’.”

The original song, ‘Woh Ladki Jo,’ featured in the 1999 Bollywood film Baadshah, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Twinkle Khanna. It was sung by Abhijeet Bhattacharya and composed by Anu Malik. Despite its initial lukewarm reception, the track has since gained cult status, much to the surprise of its creators.
