The wait is finally over for Naagin fans! On the latest episode of Weekend Ka Vaar, television czarina Ektaa R Kapoor made a special appearance on Bigg Boss 19, joining host Salman Khan on stage — and with her came a major revelation that set the internet buzzing. Kapoor officially announced Naagin 7 and introduced the show’s new lead — Priyanka Chahar Choudhary.

The announcement came as a delightful surprise for fans who had long been speculating about the next face of the fantasy franchise. Dressed in her Naagin avatar, Priyanka made a stunning entry on the Bigg Boss stage, performing a captivating act that marked her grand return to television. The actress, who rose to fame with Udaariyaan and became one of the most loved contestants on Bigg Boss 16, is now ready to embrace her most powerful role yet.

Expressing her excitement, Priyanka shared that the role of Naagin has been a dream come true. She revealed that this opportunity was first hinted at during her stint in the Bigg Boss 16 house when Ektaa R Kapoor had entered as a guest. “She had promised me that day that she would give me a big project, and today she has kept her word,” Priyanka said, expressing gratitude towards the producer for her faith and support.

Ektaa R Kapoor, known for shaping some of Indian television’s biggest franchises, said that Priyanka embodies everything she envisioned for the next Naagin — grace, strength, and charisma. The producer also teased that Naagin 7 will mark a new era for the supernatural series that will take the saga to new heights.

The Naagin universe has, over the years, featured some of television’s most iconic leading ladies, including Mouni Roy, Tejasswi Prakash, Nia Sharma, Surbhi Jyoti, and Surbhi Chandna. Mouni Roy remains the only actress to have led two consecutive seasons. With Priyanka Chahar Choudhary now stepping into the mystical world, anticipation for Naagin 7 is higher than ever.

Fans are already flooding social media with excitement, calling Priyanka “the perfect Naagin” and praising Ektaa R Kapoor for her casting choice. If the grand reveal on Bigg Boss 19 is anything to go by, Naagin 7 is all set to cast its spell once again on Indian television.

November 2, 2025, was a day of celebration as Shah Rukh Khan celebrated his 60th birthday. It was also the day when India’s women's cricket team won the World Cup. It immediately brought memories of SRK’s 2007 classic, Chak De India, where the women's hockey team similarly became world champions. Incidentally, a fan event was held yesterday at an auditorium in Mumbai, where Shah Rukh Khan remembered Chak De India.

The host presented SRK with stills from his memorable films and he talked about them. When he was shown a glimpse of Chak De India, Shah Rukh Khan began by saying, “This sport (hockey) is very important to me. My father (Meer Taj Mohammed Khan) used to play; I really wanted to be a hockey player and try to play for India. Then I suffered (an injury) and I couldn’t (pursue the sport). In a way, it was good as I became an actor.”

He continued, “When this film came to me, I realized that it could be a tribute to my father. I don’t like to give films more meaning than necessary. Films entertainment ke liye hai. But I remember I told Adi (Aditya Chopra) that ‘Yeh picture main karunga because I want to do it for my father’.”

He added, “I can play a little bit of hockey and hence, it was very interesting. I think all the people were quite impressed (with the film). The girls were very good. The girls were fantastic. It was very good to play hockey with them.”

SRK revealed, “Then I played football in Australia with the Australian team girls. They were so strong that they beat us boys 7-0 or something! They were fantastically strong ladies. So yeah, it’s a very special film and we didn’t expect it to become such a big hit. We expected that it would be a bit offbeat, but it ended up becoming such a defining sports film.”

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan celebrates his birthday today. This year, the day is even more special as he has turned 60. On his special day, here’s what some of the directors he worked with had to say about him.

Hema Malini: I was fortunate to have directed Shah Rukh Khan in Dil Aashna Hai. I needed a young actor who was unexposed, handsome and talented. Shah Rukh fitted the bill. He insisted on being in my directorial debut. Dil Aashna Hai was meant to be Shah Rukh’s debut film. Eventually though, Deewana got released first. When he came to ask for a role, I immediately knew he was going to be a big star. My film was about a young girl Divya Bharti looking for her father. There was no role for Shah Rukh except that of the girl’s boyfriend, which he wanted. When I protested that the role would do no justice to his presence he told me, ‘You leave it to the public.’ He had the confidence, even back then when he was just starting out, that the public would support him.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali: Working with Shah Rukh in Devdas was a completely new experience. I wanted my Devdas to be a simple, volatile, boy –man who’s angry and mean and yet has a sad streak that shimmers in his eyes. Shah Rukh as Devdas could convey shades of anger and self-destruction. I feel any human being who can’t control his anger ultimately destroys his creative energy. Being a good human being Devdas would rather destroy himself than others who love him. “I can’t destroy Paro or Chandramukhi, so I’ll destroy myself,” is what my Devdas feels. Shah Rukh seemed just right. And I was right. I fell in love with his performance. Shah Rukh understood the character without losing his spontaneity. Obviously, the pressures of matching up to K L Saigal Saab and Dilip Saab, who played Devdas earlier, were there. But he never allowed them to bog him down. I don’t know what to say about him. He has left me speechless. I had my doubts before working with him. But it’s his most endearing and honest performance. The performance came amidst all his personal problems. He was able to project the personal turmoil on screen.

If I were to make Devdas again, I’d still cast only Shah Rukh. He couldn’t match up to Dilip Kumar’s Devdas. He didn’t try to. Shah Rukh played him so differently. Devdas was a very restless man like Shah Rukh. But Devdas is a man who does very little. The challenge of having Shah Rukh express implosive rage was what got me. If I let Devdas behave like Shah Rukh, he’d be a lot more mobile on screen. Unlike the Shah Rukh Khan in Darr, Baazigar, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, there’s an amazing childlike vulnerability and honesty in Shah Rukh of Devdas. When my Devdas looks at his mother he looks as a child not a man. To me, Devdas is as honest a child in his emotions. Unlike the character in the novel, he never disguises his emotions. He doesn’t calculate his emotional expressions. He’s uncorrupted. That’s the most endearing part of his personality. He’ll always be the archetypal lover because he’s innocent. And we crave that innocence in our life.

Ashutosh Gowariker: For Swades, I needed someone who isn’t cynical and yet when he thinks the West is where the action is…. contrasting qualities rolled into one. I needed an actor with an unpredictable quality about him. Shah Rukh has it. That Shah Rukh Khan could ride a train, bus or boat as he did in Swades, is unheard of. People said, how could I make him do all this. But Shah Rukh is basically from the grassroots. Thanks to his screen image, he could look an outsider in the situations given in my film. I needed that look. Shah Rukh could be the outsider looking into social issues with a sense of dismay and wonderment. And I had hoped his angst would affect the audience. All this wasn’t done to be smart or clever as a filmmaker. Shah Rukh and I bonded so well, we never realized when the film started. We had done 3 films together as actors. In Swades, we had a ball together. Neither of us was trying to impress the other. I had a script reading with him before shooting. He had never done that before in a movie. But because of the preparation, no actor looked in awe of Shah Rukh in screen.

Aziz Mirza: Shah Rukh is like my own child. I can never move away from him. The only reason why Shah Rukh was not in my last film Kismat Konnection was because the role required a young boy, just out of college. In fact, the minute Juhi Chawla heard the role she said she could see a younger Shah Rukh in it. That's how Shahid Kapoor came in. Shah Rukh was like my bachcha from the time he started. We did Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman and Yes Boss together. Both were important films in the early part of Shah Rukh’s career. It's wrong to say I helped his career. Everyone has his destiny.

Shah Rukh became an overnight star with Deewana. I remember they had shot half the film with another actor (Armaan Kohli). Shah Rukh came into the project at that late stage. If that isn't destiny, then what is? I've done four films with Shah Rukh. One doesn't have to continue working constantly with the ones whom one loves. Some relationships go beyond the professional. Shah Rukh is certainly one of them.

Anurag Kashyap had a fascinating conversation with Komal Nahta where he spoke about his several films, including the ones at Phantom Films, a production house which had Anurag as one of the founders. One of the finest films made by this banner was Queen (2014), starring Kangana Ranaut in the lead. It had unanimous acclaim and was a sleeper super-hit. However, Anurag revealed that pre-release, no one had any confidence in the film’s potential.

Anurag said, “The studio partner had no faith in Queen at all. No one had any faith. It got greenlit as it was a low-cost film. Later, they were like ‘Yeh kya hai?’. It was lying in the cans for 1 ½ years. But when I saw the footage for the first time, I enjoyed it a lot. I couldn’t stop laughing. I said, ‘Yeh toh kamaal ki picture hai’. I was asked, ‘Why are you so happy?’. I said, ‘Because this is a very good film’.”

He added, “Queen was the only film where I sat on the edit and I even got the Filmfare Award for Best Editing (laughs). I wondered, ‘Mujhe jo iss film mein dikh raha hai, woh koi aur dekh kyun nahin paa raha?’. That’s why I came on board as the editor. Also, the entire film was built on the performance of Kangana and her improvisations. I could clearly see the great performance of this actor and the arc in her character but others didn’t see it. I don’t know what others were trying to find in that film.”

He further said, “When the film was released, the studio executives went on a holiday. No one had any confidence. Ranjan Singh and Kangana Ranaut together marketed the film. They also had maximum confidence. I was (not in Mumbai as I was) busy shooting Bombay Velvet (2015). Even director Vikas Bahl was with me in Sri Lanka on the sets of Bombay Velvet.”

He stated, “I still remember that Queen’s first day collection was Rs. 85 lakhs. The next day, it collected more than Rs. 1 crore. Slowly, it grew.”

One of the greatest stars not just of India but of the world, Shah Rukh Khan turned 60 on November 2, marking six glorious decades of charm, intelligence, and inspiration. His fan following transcends borders, drawn not only to his unforgettable on-screen performances but also to his wit, wisdom, and warmth off-screen. It’s no surprise that when you scroll through Instagram, you’re likely to stumble upon one of his old interviews; moments that still entertain, enlighten, and inspire in equal measure. Even in this sphere, SRK has been a trendsetter, effortlessly blending intellect with charisma.

In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama during the promotions of Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, producer Gaurav Verma, who has worked with SRK’s Red Chillies Entertainment for nearly a decade, reflected on this unique aspect of the superstar’s enduring appeal.

Gaurav Verma went back to the pre-digital era when TV was the dominant medium and news channels especially enjoyed high viewership. There was no way a film campaign could afford that much airtime. This is when Shah Rukh Khan came with a genius idea – he used the integration and interviews to seamlessly stitch the film campaign with prime-time viewership.

Gaurav Verma said, “Khan Saab has always been the sharpest mind in the business. He has the ability to make news exciting. He can eventify anything. Until the time news was the medium and digital had not risen, it was a great thing to do, as one could not afford that much airtime. It was a cost-based requirement.”

Aman Gill, who also distributed and marketed Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, along with Gaurav Verma, explained, “What he did for Om Shanti Om (2007) set the template for the future. It was the first film that blasted on interviews, events, advertising and co-sponsorship. It had the first 360-degree campaign. He started this strategy with Main Hoon Na (2004) and it peaked in Om Shanti Om. That became a template for everybody to follow. Ghajini (2008) also followed the Om Shanti Om model with Aamir Khan taking it to another level.”

Gaurav Verma continued, “He has extreme command over this model. He can make his interviews so humorous and entertaining that everyone would be enticed to watch it.”

Aman then said, “Everyone assumed that this was a template that one could copy-paste. But that’s not how it is.”

Gaurav continued, “Soon, the digital era took over. Earlier, you were communicating with your audience through television, that is, news channels. Now, you have a direct channel to communicate in the digital world – on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Now if you start doing interviews on social media only, you are losing its value. That is the reason Khan Saab realized that it’s not something he wanted to do and he moved away. He chose to talk to his audience directly through Twitter and Instagram. That person has always had the foresight.”

Shah Rukh Khan talking directly on Twitter has a separate fan base. An ‘Ask SRK’ session recently happened, where the superstar was asked why he stopped giving interviews. SRK, in his trademark style, replied, “Have nothing new to say….and old interviews have aged well so….ha ha.”

Bollywood legend Dharmendra, fondly known as the 'OG He-Man,' has been admitted to Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital after complaining of breathlessness. The news sparked immediate concern among his millions of fans and the wider film fraternity.

The 89-year-old veteran actor is currently under observation in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), but latest updates from the hospital indicate his condition is stable. Journalist Vickey Lalwani shared an update on social media after reportedly contacting the hospital, providing reassuring details directly from a staff member.

“Dharmendra came in complaining of breathlessness. He is in the ICU and he is sleeping now. Nothing to worry, I asked? No, right now nothing to worry. He is stable. His parameters are okay—the heart rate is 70, the blood pressure is 140 by 80. His urine output is also good,” he stated in a social media post.

While initial reports had suggested the visit was for a routine check-up, the hospital’s confirmation that the actor was admitted due to difficulty in breathing has clarified the severity of the episode. Actor Ranbir Kapoor is embarking on a heartfelt mission to revive the iconic RK Studios, originally established by his legendary grandfather Raj Kapoor, according to a report by Mid-Day. The revival is not just a business move but a tribute to the Kapoor family legacy, with Ranbir focusing on producing films that carry the spirit of RK Studios while infusing a modern voice to resonate with today’s audience. The report mentions that plans are well underway, with several scripts shortlisted and production anticipated to begin soon.

As part of the revival, Ranbir aims to re-establish the studio as a prominent creative hub in Mumbai, possibly including an office space and screening theater to foster collaboration in the industry. The initiative also marks a continuation of his late father Rishi Kapoor’s dream to carry forward the family’s cinematic heritage. Alongside Ranbir’s directorial debut, the revived studio will back projects featuring some of Bollywood’s top talents, including collaborations with Deepika Padukone and director Ayan Mukerji.

The reopening of RK Studios is expected to be a grand affair, paying homage to its golden era under Raj Kapoor, and serves as a symbolic passing of the torch to the next generation of filmmakers. This significant move further cements Ranbir Kapoor’s role not only as a leading actor but also as a custodian of one of Indian cinema’s most treasured legacies.

RK Studios, established by the legendary Raj Kapoor in 1948, produced some of the most iconic films in Indian cinema including Awaara (1951), Barsaat (1949), Mera Naam Joker (1970), Bobby (1973), Satyam Shivam Sundaram (1978), Prem Rog (1982), and Ram Teri Ganga Maili (1985), which was Kapoor's last film before his death.

The last film produced under the RK Films banner was Aa Ab Laut Chalen (1999), directed by Rishi Kapoor. Over time, RK Studios faced a decline as the film industry shifted locations to Mumbai’s northern suburbs. The 2017 fire that gutted the studio during a reality show shoot was the final blow, destroying invaluable memorabilia, costumes, and the physical studio space. Due to the increasing maintenance costs and the impracticality of rebuilding, the Kapoor family decided to sell RK Studios, marking the end of an era for the historic studio,

Red Chillies Entertainment has filed its official reply to Sameer Wankhede’s defamation suit against The Ba***ds of Bollywood, the Netflix show he claims was designed to tarnish his reputation. Wankhede, the former NCB officer who led the 2021 drugs case involving Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan, had approached the court alleging that the makers had portrayed a character resembling him in both appearance and mannerisms.

In its response, Red Chillies Entertainment maintained that the series is a Bollywood satire, and all characters in it are depicted with deliberately exaggerated traits to heighten the humour. The production house argued that the complaint was an attempt to curtail artistic and creative freedom and described Wankhede’s stance as an instance of “hypersensitivity.”

The reply further pointed out that Wankhede’s image had already been subject to widespread public scrutiny long before the show’s release. According to the filing, the former officer’s involvement in the Aryan Khan case had drawn considerable criticism and ridicule, as reflected in news coverage, social media discussions, and public commentary at the time. Red Chillies stated that these materials clearly demonstrated that his reputation had been affected earlier, and that the lawsuit was an attempt to silence satirical portrayals that fall under creative expression.

Represented by senior advocates Neeraj Kishan Kaul and Shyel Trehan, the production company also requested the court to allow the show to remain intact, asserting that removing the contested scene would disrupt the series’ narrative flow. The makers clarified that the show does not directly name or reference Wankhede, and that the police officer character is merely depicted as an “overzealous” cop — a common trope in dark comedies and satires.

The case, which came up before Justice Purushindra Kumar on Thursday, has now been adjourned to November 10 for further proceedings.

The Ba***ds of Bollywood, streaming on Netflix, has drawn attention for its unapologetically sharp commentary on celebrity culture, media frenzy, and the moral ambiguity within the film industry — themes that continue to spark debate about where the line between satire and defamation should be drawn.

When two powerhouse performers like Arshad Warsi and Jitendra Kumar come together, even the most serious film gets its share of laughter behind the scenes. Despite their film, Bhagwat Chapter One: Raakshas, exploring a serious theme like the investigation of a prostitution racket, it was Arshad and his pranks that kept the humour alive on the sets.

In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Hungama, Jitendra revealed that the film’s intense subject matter didn’t stop the cast from having fun on set. “Sir ke saath kaam karna – main bahut excited tha (I was excited to work with Sir),” he shared. “He’s a very good co-actor, very helpful.”

Arshad was quick to return the praise. “Jitendra bahut achha actor hai, bahut natural,” he said warmly. “For me, it was very easy to work with him.”

What truly defined their bond, however, was the unplanned humour that unfolded while shooting. Jitendra laughed as he recalled, “Sir bahut baar shararat karte the (Sir would prank a lot). Kabhi achanak dialogue badal dete the— Sir would suddenly change the dialogues, and the whole team would burst out laughing!”

Arshad admitted to his playful antics, saying, “And set pe bahut masti hoti thi (it was real fun on the sets). The environment was positive and full of laughter — that’s when you get the best performances.”

Further it was being said that the actors built their rhythm naturally, with minimal rehearsals but maximum chemistry. By the end of the shoot, their coordination had become effortless. “When you’re working with someone who listens and responds naturally,” Arshad said, “the scene takes on a life of its own.”

Their off-screen camaraderie is clearly reflected in their on-screen performances, making Bhagwat Chapter One: Raakshas a collaboration that showcased both intensity and heart. Coming to the film, produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Pammi Baweja, Harman Baweja, Kanishk Gangwal, and Vipin Agnihotri under Jio Studios, Baweja Studios, and Dog 'n' Bone Pictures, it stars Arshad as Inspector Vishwas Bhagwat and Jitendra as Sameer, a professor drawn into the case.

This Friday will see the release of Baahubali: The Epic. It combines two Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017) into one part, as part of the tenth anniversary celebrations of the former. This is a novel experiment and has probably never been done before in the world. Some moviegoers and industry personalities doubted if viewers would rewatch a film that they have consumed repeatedly and that too in this unique form. However, the risk seems to have paid off. The advance booking down South and Overseas for the original Telugu audience is outstanding.

It is common knowledge that Baahubali: The Epic has a run time of 3 hours and 45 minutes. Bollywood Hungama has now learned about the duration of the first half and second half of the film. A trade source told Bollywood Hungama, “The pre-interval portion of Baahubali: The Epic is 1 hours 42 minutes and 33 seconds long. The second half is longer than 2 hours. The exact length of the second half is 2 hours, 3 minutes and 11 seconds. The total duration of the film, thus, is 3 hours 45 minutes and 44 seconds.”

Just 1 interval

In the past, such lengthy films have had not one, but two intermission points. Old-timers recollect that Raj Kapoor-starrer Sangam (1964), which was 238 minutes long, that is, 3 hours and 58 minutes long, had two intervals. Mera Naam Joker (1970) was 255 minutes long, that is, 4 hours and 15 minutes, and it also had two interval points. In recent times, Hum Aapke Hain Koun (1994) had an interval twice after the longer cut was released in cinemas. Over the years, the twin interval system was dropped. Films like Mohabbatein (2000; 215 minutes), Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001; 210 minutes), Animal (2023; 203 minutes), The Bengal Files (2025; 204 minutes) etc. have been released with just one intermission point.

Coming back to Baahubali: The Epic, Baahubali: The Beginning had a runtime of 159 minutes, while Baahubali 2: The Conclusion clocked 167 minutes. This means that together, the two parts originally ran for a total of 326 minutes, or 5 hours and 26 minutes. In contrast, Baahubali: The Epic is just 225 minutes long, making it shorter by 101 minutes. It remains to be seen how the makers have condensed the two monumental chapters of the saga into one cohesive narrative without compromising on the grandeur, emotion, and continuity that made Baahubali a cultural phenomenon.

An upcoming film of Isha Koppikar titled Rocketship, has achieved a significant milestone, being officially selected for two prominent international film festivals — the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival (DPIFF) 2026 and the Mokkho International Film Festival 2025.

The Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival is regarded as one of India’s most respected platforms for recognizing cinematic talent, both domestic and global. The inclusion of Rocketship in its lineup marks an important achievement for the team, especially since the film was made in collaboration with students from Whistling Woods International, the film school founded by Subhash Ghai.

Koppikar’s decision to work with the academy’s students stemmed from her desire to support emerging voices in cinema. The collaboration allowed young filmmakers to gain hands-on experience while working on a professional feature film — an initiative that reflects her intent to contribute to the growth of new talent in the industry.

Sharing her reaction to the selection, Isha Koppikar said, “This is such an honour not just for myself, but for the entire team behind Rocketship, who relentlessly worked towards making it. Dreams indeed take flight, and I am so happy for all the recognition that Rocketship and the team are getting. I am especially happy for the students, who literally began their careers from scratch, working hard on the film, and are about to get their due recognition. Being selected for the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival is a huge accomplishment, and I couldn't be prouder of what they have achieved. I am convinced these kids will be going places in the future.”

The film’s trailer, released earlier this month, has already drawn attention for its emotional depth and compelling premise. Rocketship tells the story of the unbreakable bond between a mother and daughter — exploring themes of strength, resilience, and aspiration through a heartfelt narrative.

Produced by Harmanraai Singh Sehgal and directed by Arjun Menon, with a screenplay also penned by Menon, Rocketship features Isha Koppikar alongside child actor Amayira Sharma in pivotal roles. The dual festival selection marks a key step forward for the project, signalling growing recognition for the team’s effort to blend heartfelt storytelling with new creative talent.

Parvathy says, "Don Palathara’s movies hold up a mirror to how we live and love, often without judgment or noise. To step into that kind of world as an actor is very liberating. His films have a powerfully meditative. He invites us to actively engage in reflecting on how we live. As an actor, I find that kind of space exhilarating because it demands that you unlearn performance and simply be. This is also incredibly challenging. Working with him has been on my wishlist for a while and I'm thrilled that this project came my way. Actor Salman Khan is at the center of a major international controversy after reportedly being declared a terrorist by the Balochistan government. The development follows his comments during an address at the Riyadh Forum, where he appeared to refer to Pakistan and Balochistan as separate countries—a statement that quickly went viral and sparked intense debate online.

According to widely shared posts on social media platform X, it is alleged that the Balochistan government has added Salman Khan’s name to Pakistan’s ‘Fourth Schedule’ under the country’s Anti-Terrorism Act (1997). This schedule is used to monitor individuals suspected of connections to extremist or banned organizations. If Salman Khan’s name is indeed on the list, it would subject him to strict legal scrutiny, travel restrictions, and ongoing government vigilance.

A notification dated October 16, 2025, attributed to social media user Nasir Azeem, has been circulated as evidence of the declaration. The document names Salman as an “Azad Balochistan Facilitator”; however, as of now, no credible Pakistani media outlet or official government channel has confirmed the document’s authenticity, raising questions about the veracity of the claims.

The uproar began after a video clip from the Riyadh Forum showed Salman Khan, while discussing the influence of Indian films in the Middle East, remarking that there are people in Saudi Arabia from “Balochistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan,” appearing to mention Balochistan separately. Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan were also present on stage at that moment.

Salman’s statement was, “Right now, if you make a Hindi film and release it in Saudi Arabia, it will be a superhit. If you make a Tamil, Telugu, or Malayali film, it will do hundreds of crores in business because so many people from other countries have come here. There are people from Balochistan, there are people from Afghanistan, there are people from Pakistan, everyone is working here”.

As it stands, Salman Khan has not commented publicly on the controversy, and the Balochistan government has not released any official statement confirming his inclusion on the Fourth Schedule of Pakistan’s Anti-Terrorism Act. The situation continues to develop, with observers awaiting authoritative clarification.

In today's times, it is rare for a significant film to be released in cinemas without an OTT deal in place. Earlier this year, Aamir Khan chose this unconventional path with Sitaare Zameen Par. And now Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat is a rare film where the makers haven't given away the rights to any OTT platform. Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat's writer-director Milap Zaveri spoke about this aspect in an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama.

Milap Zaveri said, "There's a reason why I call my producer Anshul Garg as 'Sher Garg'. He was wooed by OTT platforms. But he made it clear that he didn't want to sell the film's digital and satellite rights before release. This is because he had immense faith in the film. He made it clear that he had made the film for cinemas and only after the theatrical release will he decide which platform the film should be premiered on."

Milap Zaveri also said, "It needs jigra to have such confidence."

The price for a film's OTT premiere is often related to its box office performance. Hence, now with Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat succeeding at the box office, it is sure to fetch a better price. Milap Zaveri excitedly agreed, "For sure!"

The grand Diwali release Thamma is a part of the much-loved Maddock Horror Comedy Universe and hence, it was expected that characters from the earlier films will make it in the Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer. Way back in July, Bollywood Hungama had revealed that Varun Dhawan appears in the film, reprising the role of Bhediya. We also stated that the actor shot for 6 days and the scene in question would be a visual spectacle. Bollywood Hungama has now stumbled upon some fascinating details.

A source told us, “The makers decided to go all out with the scene of Betaal vs Bhediya. Hence, a mind-boggling amount of Rs. 20 crores was spent just on that sequence. Producer Dinesh Vijan was clear – the fight scene should have top-class VFX that should stun the viewers. After all, the scene is very crucial for the future of the universe.”

The source further said, “Amar Kaushik, the founder and mentor of the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, serves as the producer of Thamma. But for the crucial scene of Bhediya, he was present on the set to supervise. A lot was at stake; so, Amar decided to be present when the scene was being filmed. Thamma’s director, Aditya Sarpotdar, was informed about it in advance and he understood Amar’s point of view. He was more than happy to have Amar on the set and was also more than happy to take his valuable inputs.”

Thamma starred Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Paresh Rawal.

The breathtaking Betaal vs Bhediya showdown left the audience in awe, blending cutting-edge VFX with Amar Kaushik’s trademark storytelling flair. With Thamma now cementing the foundation for the next chapter in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, fans can expect even grander crossovers and deeper connections in the films to come.

Veteran actor and filmmaker Govardhan Asrani, fondly known as Asrani, passed away in Mumbai on October 20 after a prolonged illness. He was 84. Remembered for his impeccable comic timing and a career spanning over five decades, Asrani’s passing has left the Indian film fraternity mourning the loss of a true legend.

Among the many who paid their respects was actor Boman Irani, who took to social media to share a heartfelt note about his recent experience of working with the late actor. Reflecting on their time together, Irani revealed that they had collaborated just ten days before Asrani’s passing.

In his post, Irani wrote, “Around ten days ago, I had the privilege of working with Asrani ji for the first time. For the shot, I was meant to be injured and on the floor. He, the doctor, had to rush in and help me. While he needed a little help in the dark walking around the crowded set, the magical word ‘action’ had another meaning for him.”

The actor went on to describe how Asrani, despite his frail health, transformed into a burst of energy once the cameras started rolling. “Like a live wire, he rushed into the room and instinctively landed on the floor on hands and knees, attending with urgency to the sprawled me. On ‘cut,’ he needed a little help off the floor. But his commitment to the whirring camera will remain with me forever.”

Irani concluded his note with a poignant remark about Asrani’s lifelong dedication to his craft: “Till the very end, there was nothing else in the world that he was meant to do. He will be in his onward place doing nothing else but responding to ‘Action’ and doing what made him and others happy.”

Aditya Chopra’s classic Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge completed 30 years earlier this week. Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Amrish Puri and Farida Jalal in pivotal roles, the film redefined romance in Hindi cinema. It continues to warm the audience’s hearts even after three decades.

One of the major reasons for the film’s success were the dialogues penned by the veteran writer and literary figure Javed Siddiqi, along with Aditya Chopra. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Siddiqi said that it’s a moment of happiness not just for him but everyone associated with the film to see the love pouring in even after these many years.

Didn’t expect the film to become a classic hit

Siddiqi said that they never expected the film to become so big while they were working on it. “When a film is being made for which writers, director and all come together, they always think that they are making a major and successful film,” he said. “Now, whether it happens depends on different factors. I always say that while cooking if you add the right ingredients in the right manner, the dish becomes tasty, else it turns out to be bland. The same is the case in films, if all the things are present as per requirements.”

He elaborated, “Now, the likes and dislikes of the audience change after every 10 years. It is important to write or make something while keeping in mind what people in the current era would like. There is surely a risk factor in it. It is important for the maker to be farsighted. When we were making this film, nobody had an idea that it would become such a big hit.”

Aditya Chopra showed immense maturity in his first film itself

Siddiqi noticed various fine qualities in Aditya Chopra while working on the film despite it being the latter’s debut. “Adi is a sincere and intelligent man,” he said. “Most importantly, his dedication is remarkable. He is so involved in his work that he doesn’t think of anything else in the world. If he is convinced about what he is doing is right, he won’t listen to anyone. This is a very good quality. If a person doesn’t believe in himself, he easily believes in what others tell him. Self-confidence is very necessary for a filmmaker, which Adi possesses.”

The writer added, “Whatever he thought at that time, was right as per that era. The credit of adding all the ingredients in the film goes to him. As a seasoned writer, I can say that the field that he chose for his film was such that its chances of failure are generally low if done well.”

What a senior Yash Raj Film official said about the film

Siddiqi narrated a funny incident of a person working in Yash Raj Films at that time having no confidence in the film while it was being made. “Someone working at a high post at Yash Raj Films told me to ask Yash ji (Yash Chopra) why is he making such a film. I asked him why is he saying that. He said, ‘Is this a film? It’s a travelogue’ (laughs). Woh sahab pata nahin ab zinda hai ki mar gaye, but I always remember this jumla of his. I feel it became a memorable travelogue,” said the veteran writer.

Love vs traditional values have always worked in Indian cinema

Siddiqi pointed out that the conflict in DDLJ was something that has always worked in our movies. “If you look back at the history of Indian cinema, whenever we have shown a clash between love and traditional values, those films have become classics,” he said. “For example, Mughal-e-Azam, Pakeezah, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Ek Duuje Ke Liye, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, etc. Similarly, Dilwale Dulhania Ke Jayenge had a new sort of romance and the centuries’ old traditions and values of Punjab. It had a no-go situation and a question as to how these lovers will come out of it.”

The reason behind Kajol being called ‘Senorita’ in the film

During the initial phase of the bond between SRK and Kajol in the film, the former addresses the latter as ‘Senorita’. Revealing the reason behind this, Siddiqi said, “A lot of people, including Yash ji, asked me, ‘What is Senorita, Javed sahab?’ I said, ‘What else can he call her?’ He can’t call her ‘devi’, ‘lady’, ‘madam’ or even ‘behen ji’. Plus, I always see a Spanish girl when I look at Kajol. Her features are very Spanish. This is what I feel. I had said this to Kajol as well. Hence, we went ahead with Senorita and it worked.”

Lines like “Bade bade deshon mein aisi…” and “Jaa Simran jaa” becoming iconic

DDLJ has a few lines that have become memorable over the decades. One such dialogue mouthed by Shah Rukh’s character is, ‘Bade bade deshon mein aisi chhoti chhoti baatein hoti rehti hain, Senorita’. “It’s a cheesy line,” Siddiqi said, “which he repeatedly says to control a particular situation. Even when we talk, we say things like, ‘Jaane do yaar, yeh sab toh hota rehta hai’. It is the same thing; just the wordings got changed.”

Coming to ‘Jaa Simran Ja’, the veteran writer added, “When Simran asks for permission from her father (Amrish Puri) for the Euro trip at the start, he says the same dialogue. So, they also used it in the end by keeping the earlier situation in mind and used it very well.”

Thoughts and expectations while writing such dialogues

Siddiqi said that one doesn’t think that a particular line will receive claps or become hit or iconic while writing. “I have written several dialogues that have been popular for years,” he said. “Around 40 years ago, I had written, ‘Teri jaat ka baida maaroon’, which is remembered even today. As a dialogue writer, I am giving information and fulfilling my needs through words. So, you don’t think how one particular line will be perceived.”

Citing an example of another classic Hindi film, he said, “People have been repeating the lines from Sholay, which are actually meaningless. Where is the dialogue-baazi in a line like, ‘Kitne aadmi the?’? Similarly, how did ‘Arre O Sambha’ become popular? There is no magic of dialogue baazi in this dialogue. But because people like the film, they like its characters and once they like the characters, they like everything about them.”

Ayushmann Khurrana is all set to reunite with director Amar Kaushik after their 2019 blockbuster Bala. The duo, known for their slice-of-life storytelling that blends humour with heart, are returning with a film that promises to take their signature “common man” universe into an unexpected, larger-than-life direction.

Speaking about working with Kaushik again, but this time with him as a producer, Ayushmann shared, “With Amar, I actually have a 100% record through Bala. This is my second film with Amar.” The actor, who has built his career on portraying relatable, everyman characters, revealed that this project marks a distinct evolution for both him and the director-producer. “This time around, of course, the common man element is there in this film,” Ayushmann explained to Bollywood Hungama. “It is a transition of the common man to somebody who’s got superpowers. So that transition is happening for the first time.”

The actor hinted that while the soul of the story remains grounded, the world around it expands in scale and ambition. “It’s based in Delhi — the same story, the same middle class. But there is a huge jump from a common man story — a beta guy — to somebody who becomes an alpha. He doesn’t know how to deal with superpowers,” Ayushmann said. “So that arc I haven’t lived in any film yet, and that’s why I’m very excited about it.”

With Kaushik, known for his sharp direction in films like Stree, Bala, and Bhediya, joining Thamma as the co-producer expectations are high that the film will balance its fantasy elements with the director’s trademark humour and social resonance.

Ayushmann’s comment about navigating the transformation from “beta to alpha” suggests a fresh twist on his familiar screen persona — that of an underdog navigating extraordinary circumstances. If Bala explored insecurities and identity, this new outing seems poised to explore empowerment and self-discovery — albeit with a fantastical edge.

As for Thamma, the film, also starring Rashmika Mandanna and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, which hit screens on October 21, 2025, has opened to an encouraging start with Rs. 25.11 crores coming in. With positive reviews, strong word of mouth, and of course good content lead by a stellar cast the business prospects of Thamma that enjoys a six-day extended weekend are high. In fact, trade predicts that the collections of the film could go past the Rs. 60-70 cr mark by the end of its first weekend.

Dayanand Shetty, known for playing the cult character of Inspector Daya in the long running crime TV show ‘CID’, is all set to release his first Hindi film as a producer, Hello Knock Knock Kaun Hai. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Dayanand Shetty talked about his production, casting and a lot more.

Is Hello Knock Knock Kaun Hai your first film as a producer? What made you take the plunge? I have produced a Tulu film (Yaan Superstar; 2023) before and this is our first Hindi film. Our director, Prabal Baruah sir, had a concept. When he narrated the concept to me and Aditya Srivastava sir, we realized that it was a story that deserves to be told on celluloid. The first thought that TV actors have is that we should make it into a TV show. However, the content was so well-suited that we felt that it would be ideal for a film format. Then we wondered about the finances and who would produce the film. This was around 2023, when we had just come out of Covid. We spoke to a few producers. But we feared that a producer would constantly tell us ‘Yahan paisa kaato, yahaan paisa bachao’ (smiles). We were clear that we wanted to shoot uninterruptedly. That’s when we took the onus of producing it ourselves.

Was casting yourself and Aditya Srivastava a natural decision? Yes, as the director was clear while narrating the concept that he wanted both of us in the lead cast. However, he also made it clear that our equation would be unlike the one we have in ‘CID’. He realized that even for the audience, it would be novel to see that the thick friends of ‘CID’ are sworn enemies of each other in the film. Also, we are not playing cops.

As for female characters, Sonali Kulkarni was his original choice. For the other character, we considered a few actors and finally, we zeroed in on Barkha Bisht.

Aditya Srivastava’s French beard look is quite interesting... Yes, it was intentional as all the characters have shades of grey. Until the end, the audience won’t be able to guess who is positive and who is negative. The audience would also be surprised to know about the motives.

How was the process of cutting the trailer? Was it a challenge to ensure you don’t give out important plot points while also enhancing the film’s hype? Again, the credit goes to Prabal Barua ji. He cut the promo and was clear that we have to show important plot points but also conceal the secret. There’s also a hint of eeriness. The feedback that I got from some people is that it looks like a supernatural or horror film. But it is basically a thriller mystery.

So, can we conclude that the suspense is not out yet and that we’ll be shocked with the climax? Yes, for sure (smiles).

How many days did it take the shoot the film? Prabal sir and the whole team had planned it very well. The dates were taken care of and the set was put up at the bungalow. Then the film went on floors and the shoot was wrapped up in just 17 days. We shot in the bungalow, in South Mumbai and the outskirts of the city. Everything went off smoothly and perfectly, just the way we had planned.

Since the team of ‘CID’ is a part of the cast, can we expect Shivaji Satam as ACP Pradyuman’s cameo? (Laughs) No. We did think of it, though. But then we realized that his character is so strong that we wouldn’t have been able to do justice. But apart from us, there’s also Zarina Wahab ji, Sahil Uppal and Liliput ji.

It's important for an independent film to get the right distributor. Who’ll be releasing Hello Knock Knock Kaun Hai? The film is being presented by Girish Wankhede. UFO Moviez is distributing it.

Do you have an OTT partner on board for the post-release digital premiere? As of now, we haven’t planned it. Once the film gets released, we’ll take a call.

Bollywood Hungama was among the first ones to confirm that Aneet Padda, who became a nationwide sensation with Saiyaara (2025), has replaced Kiara Advani in Shakti Shalini. On October 19, we also brought to you the news that Shakti Shalini’s announcement video is attached with Thamma, the grand Diwali release. And now, we bring to you another exciting update from the film. It has come to light that Shakti Shalini will release in cinemas on December 24, 2026.

Just like Thamma, Shakti Shalini also belongs to the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe. The blockbuster franchise began with Stree (2018) followed by Bhediya (2022). Munjya (2024) came next and it was a sleeper super-hit. Stree 2 (2024) emerged as the highest Bollywood grosser of all time. Thamma is the fifth film of the universe.

When Shakti Shalini starred Kiara Advani, the plan was to release it on December 31, 2025. With the Aneet Padda-starrer having moved to 2026, it means that three films of the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe will arrive next year – Shakti Shalini, Chamunda and Bhediya 2. Stree 3 will arrive in 2027. In 2028, the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe will end with a bang with three exciting movies, namely Maha Munjya, Pehla Mahayudh and Doosara Mahayudh.

Until now, prominent names are a part of this world like Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Sharvari, Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Varun Dhawan, Aneet Padda and above all, Akshay Kumar. Many more famous actors are expected to join the series in these upcoming films.

The Maddock Horror Comedy Universe has turned into India’s own Marvel-style saga — and Shakti Shalini could be the next major chapter tying all the worlds together. With each film introducing new characters and mythologies, the stage is now set for a multi-film crossover event that fans have long awaited.

With the Diwali releases of 2025, namely the horror comedy Thamma and the intense romantic saga Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, just a few days away, trade experts predicted about how they’ll fare in cinemas.

Film exhibitor and distributor Akshaye Rathi predicted, “Thamma is tuned to open at Rs. 20 crores possibly. As for Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, there’s a serious undercurrent to it which is courtesy the music of the film. Day 1 of Deewaniyat can prove to be a head-turning surprise.”

Girish Johar, producer and film business analyst, said, “The box office has a huge capacity of Rs. 50-75 crores. How much the films would collect will depend on their capability. I’ll be happy if Thamma opens near the Rs. 20 crore mark. And if Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat opens near double digits, that would be great.”

Distributor and exhibitor Raj Bansal stated, “I expect Thamma to open at Rs. 15-18 crores. Ek

Deewane Ki Deewaniyat will open at Rs. 4 to 6 crores.”

But all of them agreed that the lead actors of Thamma and Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat – Ayushmann Khurrana and Harshvardhan Rane – are all set to deliver the biggest openers of their respective careers. Ayushmann’s biggest opener was Dream Girl 2 (2023), which opened at Rs. 10.69 crores. As for Harshvardhan, his biggest opener was Sanam Teri Kasam (2016) which earned Rs. 4 crores on the first day of its re-release.

Akshaye Rathi said, “Both these films should open significantly higher than anything that the two actors have opened in the past.”

Trade veteran Taran Adarsh agreed, “Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat would be Harshvardhan’s biggest opener. Thamma will also be Ayushmann’s highest opener because, firstly, it belongs to the horror comedy universe. Secondly, it’s a Diwali release and the film is backed by Dinesh Vijan. It can’t get bigger than that.”

Girish Johar also stated, “They are poised to have their biggest openers ever, unless the films are very bad and crash heavily in the evening.” Raj Bansal exulted, “Thamma will go beyond the Dream Girl 2 number as it’s a big holiday and it's the festive season. Hence, it is beyond any doubt that it would be Ayushmann’s biggest opener and the same goes for Harshvardhan.”

While it's heartening that both films will collect a maximum of Rs. 30 crores on their release day, a section of the trade and exhibitors is disheartened. After all, Diwali 2024 saw Singham Again earning Rs. 43.70 crores while Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 accumulating Rs. 36.60 crores. In other words, both films collectively earned Rs. 80.35 crores in a day! Even other Diwali films in recent times like Tiger 3 (2023) and Sooryavanshi (2021) opened with a bang.

Taran Adarsh explained why the comparison with Diwali 2024 is unfair, “Both films don’t have such star power. Hence, we can’t compare. Singham Again had half the industry and was a big franchise. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, too, was a part of the brand.”

Lifetime predictions

The last film of the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, Stree 2 (2024), collected Rs. 600 crores plus and is an all-time Bollywood grosser. Hence, can Thamma cross the Rs. 250 crore or Rs. 300 crore club and can Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat enter the Rs. 100 crore club?

Raj Bansal said, “It would be difficult to say unless I see the film or get to know the reports.” Girish Johar replied, “I feel this is a tall ask as of now. If they open up quite well and are fantastic, then obviously the capability is there, along with the festival period. If the content is strong, then anything can happen.”

Akshaye Rathi opined, “It depends on the merit of the film. Stree 2 collected more than Rs. 500 crores, but despite being in the same universe, Bhediya didn’t manage to cross the Rs. 100 crores mark. Interestingly, Munjya, which didn’t have any actor of this grade, managed to enter the Rs. 100 Crore Club. The universe has given Thamma the awareness and visibility, but ultimately, it’s the content of the film and the promotional material that generates buzz around it, thereby determining its fate.”

He continued, “The same goes for Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat. Munjya did the numbers purely on the basis of its content. Aashiqui 2 managed to over-perform back in the day purely on the basis of its music. A more recent example is Saiyaara, where the music drove the numbers rather than the actors. Even here, the music has caught on. It’s difficult to say where it’ll eventually reach, as that is determined by the film’s content. But in terms of music, we all may be in for a surprise due to the traction that the music has got so far.”

After the debacle of War 2, director Ayan Mukerji has decided to take a backseat as the director of Dhoom 4. Sources close to the development confirm that Ayan has backed off from Dhoom 4 and, in a closed-door conversation with Aditya Chopra, conveyed his reservation. "Ayan believes that films like War 2 and Dhoom 4 were never meant for him, and he wants to do something a lot wider with scope for romance, drama with spectacle vibes and storytelling," an insider told Bollywood Hungama.

The insider informed Bollywood Hungama, "Ayan was just executing what was written on paper by Shridhar Raghavan, and had little say on the script and screenplay. He does not want to be on another journey of just execution, as he is a passionate filmmaker who prefers to exclusively work on the written material and bring more to the screen than what's written."

The source also confirms that the decision to step back from Dhoom 4 has been taken after a series of conversations with Aditya Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor. "Both Chopra and Kapoor understood Ayan's point of view and have parted ways on the right note. Ayan is now working on Brahmastra 2 and will take the film on floors in 2026. The writing work is concluded, and some polishing is going on during his stay in the Himalayas."

Aditya Chopra is meanwhile exploring more direction options. "Insiders at YRF have also suggested that the boss direct the new Dhoom film himself, as Ranbir has already allotted his dates for the new Dhoom film." A lot more drama will unfold in the days to come.
