Tim Cook’s visit has been the headline-maker of the past week. While many dignitaries have been meeting the Apple CEO, he has been in awe of the Ali Fazal starrer short sci-fi film The Astronaut and His Parrot, directed by Arati Kadav. The film was shown to the head honcho by Arati Kadav who was invited to deliver a special talk on the film, and he appreciated the filmmaker touting her as one of India's best sci-fi filmmakers who shot the entire award-winning film on her iPhone. 

Tim Cook said on his social media, "The Astronaut and His Parrot is a story of hope and connection. I met Arati Kadav, who created this beautiful award-winning short film using only her iPhone and Macbook Pro".

Ali reacted saying, “ It was nice to finally show the movie to Tim Cook. Since the whole movie has been shot with Apple products, getting these kinds of compliments from the Apple CEO is quite encouraging. Since it’s a Sci-fi movie, most of the shots were done with a green background, but it was plain Arati’s vision that made this movie what it is today. I hope we continue making more such movies which represent India.”

The film is about a space explorer who, due to an accident, has been adrift in the void with a low supply of oxygen. In his final moments in space, he tries to desperately send messages to his daughter via signals but is received by a gaudy parrot in a fortune teller's stall.

Ananya Panday will complete 4 years in the film industry on May 10 this year as her debut film, Student Of The Year 2, was released on May 10, 2019. Since then, she has been a part of 8 films and 1 web series and has worked with prominent filmmakers. Earlier this year, she announced that she has signed talented filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane’s film. Nearly a month later, it came to light that the shoot was wrapped up. Vikramaditya Motwane even put up a lovely picture of him hugging Ananya and stating that he’s her big fan. Until now, nothing much was known about the film apart from the fact that it’s a cyber thriller.

Recently, in an in-depth interview with Mid-Day editor Mayank Shekhar, Vikramaditya Motwane unveiled the title of this film. It turns out that his film with Ananya Panday is named Control. He also shared some interesting details about the film, “It’s a ‘computer-generated’ movie, flitting between screens, centred on an Instagram influencer.”

Interestingly, one of Ananya Panday’s forthcoming films, Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, is also about social media. Co-starring Siddhanth Chaturvedi and Adarsh Gourav, it is produced by Zoya Akhtar and directed by Arjun Varain Singh. Apart from Control and Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, Ananya Panday will also be seen in the much-awaited comic caper, Dream Girl 2, co-starring Ayushmann Khurrana. It was supposed to release on July 7 and a few days ago, the makers announced that it will now release on August 25. Ananya also has a web series, Call Me Bae, in her pipeline.

Coming back to Control, it is jointly produced by Vikramaditya Motwane and Nikhil Dwivedi. As per reports, it also stars Vihaan Samat.

Meanwhile, Vikramaditya Motwane’s ambitious web series, Jubilee, was recently released on Amazon Prime Video, on April 7. It is about the actors, actresses and filmmakers who ruled Hindi cinema in the 1940s and 50s. It had an ensemble cast comprising Prosenjit Chatterjee, Aditi Rao Hydari, Aparshakti Khurana, Sidhant Gupta, Wamiqa Gabbi, Ram Kapoor and others.

Alia Bhatt was spotted there showcasing her extraordinary sense of style while attending the Most Influential Young Indians Awards hosted by GQ. Alia adopted the androgynous trend, choosing a gorgeous check pantsuit that gives formal power dressing a contemporary edge. The fashionista accessorised her gorgeous check pantsuit with a blue shirt and satin tie that had a similar shade of blue. Flared check trousers were part of Alia's look, which she accessorised with a pair of black heels. She wore studs as simple yet beautiful accessories. Alia's boss-lady appearance was well complemented by her free-flowing mane, bare lips, and well-contoured cheeks.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Alia is set to make her Met Gala debut in 2023. She will next be seen in Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani opposite Ranveer Singh. The film is directed by Karan Johar and will release on 28 July 2023. She is also set to make her Hollywood debut in Heart of Stone opposite Gal Gadot and Jamie Scott.

Yash Chopra’s Daag starring late Rajesh Khanna, Sharmila Tagore & Rakhee is considered one of the most landmark romantic films of Indian cinema. As the film completes 50 years of its release, Sharmila Tagore speaks about her collaboration with Yash Chopra and what made her pairing with Rajesh Khanna so iconic! The film also saw the birth of Yash Raj Films, the biggest and the only studio in India, today.

She says, “I think it's wonderful that it's now 50 years since we made Daag, yet the movie and the songs remain so popular. In fact, recently Manoj Bajpayee (I made Gulmohar with him) was constantly singing 'Ek Chehre Pe Dusre Chehre Laga Dete Hai Log'. I had to tell him please don’t sing it. My reaction when I was offered Daag was an unparalleled joy, really. I saw it as a great compliment and honour to be a part of Yash’s first venture, his debut as a producer. I was absolutely thrilled.”

Sharmila adds, “Working in Daag was a wonderful experience. Actually working with Yash - even when I worked with him in Waqt was a wonderful experience. He was always so much fun. As a director, he energised everyone on the set. Ask anybody who has worked with him, with his Punjabi endearments and just generally he was like a live wire. We shot in such beautiful locations when we were working for Daag. We were shooting in Shimla one day and I woke up to a landscape covered in snow; a stunning view from my hotel window but that also meant that I had to walk to work as no car could come to us through the snow; I remember that I would get ready in make up-hair and everything and barely walk 5 steps when something had hit me really really hard and it was a snowball.”

She further adds, “I turned around to protest, I found a bunch of giggly girls and they said ‘Yeh toh hamara khel hai, hum toh khelenge’. I tried to explain to them but they wouldn’t listen (laughs). And I had to walk the distance to the location which was thankfully not too far being constantly hit with snowballs; I think I also threw some at them but my aim was not half as good as theirs! But anyway, I think I quite enjoyed that by the end of it; it's another matter that I had to change at the location because I was drenched; so they made a sort of a make-shift room where I changed my sari! Anyway, it was a great experience playing their game ‘Yeh toh hamara khel hai, hum toh khelenge'.”

Speaking about her pairing with Rajesh Khanna she says, “I think Kaka gave a memorable performance in Daag and he looked really really gorgeous in his later avatar as Rakhee’s husband with that moustache and that dashing look ..so you know he played 2 different stages in his life and he already was the heartthrob of the nation and he was very good. I am really very grateful and happy that the audience liked Kaka and I working together and we became a hit pair and I think we made some great films together - Daag of course being one of them and even today they talk about our pair! I'm very grateful.”

Yash Chopra has had an incredible impact on Indian cinema, shaping pop culture for generations. His contribution towards sculpting India’s identity to the West through his cinema is immeasurable as shown by Netflix in the hit global docu-series The Romantics which focuses on his life and career.

For Sharmila, Yash Chopra’s biggest contribution as a filmmaker was “to take our Hindi films to the western audience and popularise Switzerland as the most sought after location. Their government also appreciated this. He was inundated with awards and compliments from them and when we went to Interlaken, we saw this cafe which was called Bollywood Cafe which made us so happy it was wonderful but I feel it should have been called Yash Raj Cafe as he was a regular in that area capturing the beauty of the place.” ALSO READ: Yash Raj Films’ debut film Daag-A Poem of Love hits 50!

Earlier this year we saw the release of the much talked about Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan. The film which featured the actor returning to the big screen after a hiatus of over four years was the talk of the town. Directed by Siddharth Anand the Yash Raj Films production also featured John Abraham and Deepika Padukone in pivotal roles alongside Neetu Kapoor. Not surprisingly, in the run up to its release, Pathaan was being touted to be one of the biggest money spinners post the pandemic. And living up to expectations the film which saw a wide release opened with a bang, with positive reviews and highly encouraging audience feedback the business of the film witnessed growth by leaps and bounds.

Interestingly, Pathaan has managed to fare well in both the domestic and overseas markets as well. While back home the film saw a staggering Rs. 534.05 cr. coming in at the box office, overseas the Shah Rukh Khan starrer drew in a whopping Rs. 396.02 cr. gross during its theatrical run. In fact, the film became a global phenomenon as audiences thronged to theatres, again and again, to make this a monstrous hit like no other, collecting over Rs. 1050.30 crores worldwide gross! In a media interaction around the release and subsequent success of Pathaan, Siddharth Anand had said, “I'm happy that Pathaan has become a game-changer for the industry. We were said to have been boycotted by people. I'm happy that Pathaan has become the answer to all that talk. The industry has heard enough. I'm happy that we have let our work do the talking.”

Looking closer at the box office collections, with the stupendous success of Pathaan, Siddharth Anand is ranked second among the all-time Top directors in terms of domestic box office business. While Rohit Shetty leads the chart with a cumulative collection of Rs. 1656.86 cr. from 15 releases, Anand clinches the second spot with collections of Rs. 1183.12 cr. from just 7 releases. If that was not enough, between the two directors, Anand emerges as the one with the highest solo-grossing film with Pathaan clocking Rs. 543.05 cr. alone, with the only other director in comparison being SS Rajamouli whose Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion (Hindi) had raked in Rs. 510.99 cr.

Now, with Pathaan, following the success of his previous release War that released in 2019, not mentioning other hits like Salaam Namaste, and Bang Bang, Anand has proved his mettle in delivering content that resonates with the audience even years after its release.

The 2023 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival became a huge platform for South Asian artists to take over the stage and enthral music-goers. Punjabi actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh’s enthralling performances on two weekends took over the internet by storm. However, the singer had to fire back at trolls who were spreading edited video of his to allege that he disrespected the Indian flag.

A video of Diljit Dosanjh surfaced online in which he was speaking about a woman waving the Indian flag in the crowd. At the concert, the singer said, “Eh mere Punjabi bhain bhraawan layi, mere desh da jhanda laike khadi aa kudi, eh mere desh layi, negativity ton bacho, music saareyan da saanjha (This is for my Punjabi brothers and sisters, this girl is holding my country's flag. Stay away from negativity. Music is for everyone).”

The video was seemingly edited online and presented online in a way that looked like he disrespected the Indian flag. “So @diljitdosanjh objects when someone waves Indian tricolour during one of his concert in US. Which passport he’s carrying? Republic of KhaIistan? Shame one those Indians who listen to such 2rs artists,” read a comment with the video.

Diljit fired back at the fake news spreading and wrote on Twitter, “DON’T SPREAD FAKE NEWS and NEGATIVITY. Mai Kiha Eh Mere Desh Da Jhanda Hai. Eh Mere Desh Lai.. Means MERI Eh Performance Mere desh Lai. For the past two weekends, Diljit Dosanjh took the Coachella stage in California. The singer became the first Punjabi artist ever to perform at Coachella 2023. Donning a traditional black kurta on one Saturday and white kurta with lungi and turban on second Saturday, he obliterated the stage with many of his hit tracks including ‘Patiala Peg’, ‘GOAT’, ‘Ni Mein LA Nu’ and ‘Vibe’ among others. Diljit Dosanjh addressed the crowd in Punjabi and said “Punjabis have taken over Coachella.”

Diljit Dosanjh is known for his Punjabi music and movies, including the albums Smile, Back 2 Basics, Con.Fi.Den.Tial, G.O.A.T and Moonchild. He has also contributed as a singer to several Bollywood movies.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Diljit Dosanjh recently unveiled the first trailer of his upcoming Punjabi movie, Jodi. Set for May 5 release, the film stars him opposite Saunkan Saunkne actress Nimrat Khaira. He will also be seen in Imtiaz Ali's directorial Chamkila with Parineeti Chopra. The actor has also signed The Crew alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan, Kriti Sanon and Tabu. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan recently discussed her experience playing Nandini in two different movies: the 1999 hit Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and the 2022 Tamil film Ponniyin Selvan I, where she played Queen Nandini. She expressed gratitude for being able to portray powerful female characters. She will reprise her role as Nandini in Ponniyin Selvan II, which is set to be released in theaters on April 28th.

During a promotional press conference in Mumbai on Tuesday, Aishwarya was questioned about portraying her role as Nandini in the upcoming film. To which Aishwarya responded, “Beautiful coincidence na. It's amazing na ki aisa hua bhi hai (it's amazing to know that such a thing actually happened). In fact, yes even Nandini in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam was very, very memorable. She has lived on people's hearts and I am so, so thankful that I got to play Nandini then too and she has remained special for the audience and of course to me. And that was with Sanjay Bhansali ji and today of course with my Mani garu I got to play Nandini in Ponniyin Selvan. I mean that's just tremendously a blessing that I got to play such strong women, such layered women and women with character that touches the lives of so many women out there. There is a relatability, so I'm very very very grateful.”

Aishwarya's portrayal of Nandini was praised by critics and audiences alike, earning her the Filmfare Award for Best Actress. Her chemistry with co-star Salman Khan was also widely appreciated.

Prime Video, India’s most loved entertainment destination, today unveiled the intriguing teaser of the upcoming crime drama, Amazon Original series, Dahaad. The series is created by Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar and is directed by Kagti along with Ruchika Oberoi. Produced by Excel Media & Entertainment and Tiger Baby and Executive Produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar along with Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar, Dahaad features Sonakshi Sinha, Vijay Varma, Gulshan Devaiah, and Sohum Shah in the lead. 

Dahaad is an 8-part crime drama that follows sub-inspector Anjali Bhaati and her colleagues in a small town police station. It all starts when a series of women are mysteriously found dead in public bathrooms, Sub-Inspector Anjali Bhaati is tasked with the investigation. At first, the deaths appear to be clear-cut suicides but as the cases unravel, Anjali begins to suspect that a serial killer is on the loose. What follows is a riveting game of cat and mouse between a seasoned criminal and an underdog cop as she pieces together evidence before another innocent woman loses her life.

Dahaad marks the digital debut of Sonakshi Sinha in which she plays a fierce lady cop, who strives to solve a gruesome murder case. The teaser dives deeper into the case unveiling the suspected murders of 27 women, with no complaints or witnesses, as one woman – sub-inspector Anjali Bhaati, rises against the crime and brings justice.

The words, “Yash Raj Films” were first seen on screen in the credit titles in Daag: A Poem of Love, which released on April 27, 1973—that is exactly 50 years ago. The film became the third-highest grosser of that plentiful year for Hindi cinema, next only to the record-smashing Bobby and the trendsetting Zanjeer and ahead of other blockbusters like Yaadon Ki Baraat and Jugnu.

This was the first film of Yash Chopra as producer. His sixth film as director and fifth success after his 1959 directorial debut, Dhool Ka Phool, it also had Yash Chopra writing the screenplay along with the then-top writer, novelist Gulshan Nanda, who also penned the story.

Few then, including Yash Chopra himself, could have foretold that in the next half-century, despite some setbacks off and on, the banner would become the Numero Uno film production company in the country.

Yash Chopra had merely decided to break away and become independent without remaining as a shadow to elder brother, B.R. Chopra at BR Films, a legend and a legendary institution, respectively. He had been assisting his elder brother since Ek Hi Rasta (1956) besides also directing Waqt (the biggest hit of 1965), Ittefaq and Aadmi Aur Insaan.

The new company, named Yash Raj Films, was launched in 1971 with this maiden production, when Yash was working with B.R. Chopra in his Dastaan. The muhurat shot for Daag: A Poem of Love was given by its hero, Dilip Kumar, who later went on to do Mashaal (1984) for Yash Raj Films. The woman who motivated Yash Chopra to launch their banner was wife Pamela, who passed away just a week before the 50th release anniversary of the film.

Though young Yash launched his own company, he also took key team members from the BR Films fold for his first film—dialogues writer Akhtar-Ul-Iman (later known as Amjad Khan’s father-in-law), editor Pran Mehra, lyricist Sahir Ludhianvi and M.A. Shaikh, audiographer on a number of B.R. Chopra films.

Kaygee, assistant cameraman on several BR projects and independent cinematographer in the experimental super-hit, Ittefaq directed by Yash Chopra, was the DOP. Gaekwad, also assistant art director in several of the elder Chopra’s movies, who had started off independently with Ittefaq too, was signed as art director.

At that time, Yash also took on three key members from the Dastaan team: leading lady Sharmila Tagore and composers Laxmikant-Pyarelal on board his maiden outing. Prem Chopra (in a crucial guest appearance), Manmohan Krishna and Iftekhar were others from Dastaan also cast in the film.

Rajesh Khanna, hero of Ittefaq and then the nation’s new heartthrob, billed as a Superstar, and Raakhee, the new heroine who was also going places, were the other lead players. The casting coup of two top Bengali actresses, Sharmila and Raakhee, also made news, especially as Sharmila and Rajesh Khanna were already a popular star-pair.

But when the film was released, the superstar was beleaguered by flops in a row—Shehzada, Mere Jeevan Saathi, Dil Daulat Duniya, Bawarchi, Joroo Ka Gulam, Maalik and Raja Rani.  However, the title Daag once again proved lucky for a huge star—in 1952, a film with the same title had rescued Dilip Kumar after several failures! And after this film, Rajesh Khanna once again had a successful streak until late 1974, even as Amitabh Bachchan was evolving as the new challenger, changing trends.

The music of Daag was a huge hit, and thus for the first time, in a Yash Raj film, the heroine (and hero) were filmed romancing in snow. Simultaneously, the other heroine, Raakhee, was given chiffon sarees, and her name was ‘Chandni’. All these were forerunners of the YRF leitmotif later of glamorous heroines in chiffon sarees against the backdrop of snow, including the name (and film title) given to Sridevi in Chandni. The song ‘Ni Main Yaar Manana Ni’ also is the forerunner of the Punjabi folk number that became a must-have ingredient in several Yash Chopra films to follow.

With the release of Pathaan in January 2023, Shah Rukh Khan gave a much-needed boost to cinemas. The actor is soaring high on the success of the film. With that being said, he has two more releases this year – Jawan and Dunki. In recent times, many clips of the Atlee Kumar directorial have surfaced online in which Shah Rukh Khan was shooting a song with Nayanthara and Deepika Padukone, respectively. Even leaked clips of alleged teaser have also surfaced online. Following a string of leaked content, Delhi High Court on Tuesday ordered social media platforms, Cable TV platforms, rogue websites, direct-to-home services and ‘John Doe’ defendants to take down the leaked content and refrain from committing copyright infringement of Jawan.

Red Chillies Entertainment had reached High Court claiming two of the leaked clips from the film ad surfaced online. The first clip was of SRK doing an action sequence and the second one was him shooting a song with Nayanthara. “It is the plaintiff’s (Red Chillies) case that these Leaked video clips are nothing but a clear violation of copyright/intellectual property rights of the plaintiff which are causing damage and loss to the plaintiff. The leaked video clips together give away the look of the actors in the said film, as well as the music, both of which are typically disclosed at strategic points in time as part of the carefully curated marketing strategy of a film,” the Delhi HC was informed, as reported by Bar and Bench.

The suit further said that certain photos and stills were leaked from the sets of the movie, which was shot behind closed doors. The suit also expressed apprehension towards rogue websites further copying, reproducing and distributing the copyrighted content. “The plaintiff reasonably apprehends that such publication and unauthorized circulation of the leaked video clips and said the film will jeopardize the promotion and exploitation rights of the plaintiff in the said film and as and when the said film is released in theatres, similar acts of piracy relating to the entire Film would also commence and intermediaries/websites as described would again be utilized to illegally copy, record, download, reproduce, transmit and communicate the said copyright protected work to the general public,” the Court was told.

As per the report, Justice C Hari Shankar passed the order on Tuesday. The order was directed to social media platforms like YouTube, Google, Twitter, Reddit and others to take steps to stop the spread of copyrighted content of Jawan. Justice Shanker further ordered, “various internet service providers to block access to the websites displaying or making available for viewing or downloading the content of the movie.”

While Atlee Kumar and his team are working on post-production simultaneously, some bits of the Jawan shoot is left which will be wrapped by March 2023. The plan is to shoot in various cities. The commercial action entertainer also stars Nayanthara, Yogi Babu, Ridhi Dogra, and Sunil Grover.

Red Chillies Entertainment presents Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan in the lead and produced by Gauri Khan. Jawan will be released on June 2, 2023, in five languages making it Shah Rukh Khan’s first pan-India film.

Meanwhile, with Pathaan, Yash Raj Films kicks off the YRF Spy Universe. Shah Rukh Khan has obliterated the box office with his massive release. The film has already broken several opening day collection records of Hrithik Roshan starrer War (Rs. 53.35 crore) and Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2’s Hindi (Rs. 53.95 crore).

Pathaan stars Shah Rukh Khan alongside Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. Helmed by Siddharth Anand of War fame, the film has arrived in theatres in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Vijay Varma and Tamannaah Bhatia have yet again grabbed eyeballs as the paparazzi spotted them together in Mumbai earlier this week. Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan rang in his 36th birthday with his wife Natasha Dalal in Phuket. The couple flew to the beautiful location to enjoy some downtime with their friends. The actor also shared some photos on his social media. The couple is set to return to Mumbai today after spending quality time in Phuket.

On Monday, the Bhediya actor took to his Instagram account to share a few glimpses from his birthday celebration in Phuket. Shah Rukh Khan gave a lot of happiness to the trade, industry and also moviegoers thanks to the super-success of Pathaan (2023). Directed by Siddharth Anand, it emerged as the biggest Hindi grosser of all time, surpassing even Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion (2017). Hence, it’s no surprise that his next film, Jawan, is eagerly awaited. That it looks quite massy and commercial has upped the buzz and excitement to significant levels.

For a few months, there have been reports that Jawan might not release on its scheduled release date, that is, June 2, 2023. However, a source told Bollywood Hungama, “The film is mostly confirmed for a release on June 2. The team of Red Chillies Entertainment and director Atlee are working round the clock and ensuring that the film makes it to cinemas on the said date.”

The source further added, “The team of Jawan is also gearing up to begin the promotions of the film. It is expected to start next week, that is, the first week of May. It’ll be a tight 4-5-week promotional campaign. The trailer is expected to be out soon followed by the songs. The excitement for Jawan is already there and these assets will further heighten the hype.”

Another source, however, added, “A teaser might be released first and it’ll be followed by the theatrical trailer. The teaser, which was released last year, was more of an introduction for the viewers to the world of Jawan. The new teaser and trailer will give a better idea of the characters and plot.”

Besides Shah Rukh Khan, Jawan also stars Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi and Sanya Malhotra. Deepika Padukone will be seen in a cameo. As per reports, SRK has a double role in this action entertainer.

After Jawan, Shah Rukh Khan’s next release will be Dunki. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, it is expected to hit theatres on Christmas 2023. At present, Shah Rukh is shooting for it in Kashmir. The leaked images from the sets are doing the rounds on the internet.

Rapper Badshah on Sunday took to Instagram to release a statement after his latest hit track ‘Sanak’ began to receive backlash from certain sections of society for its questionable lyrics. The rapper said that he would never knowingly and willingly hurt anyone’s sentiments and apologized for it.

“It has been brought to my attention that one of my recent releases, Sanak, sadly seems to have hurt the sentiments of some people. I would never willingly or unknowingly cause offence to anyone’s sentiments. I bring my artistic creations and musical compositions to you, my fans, with the utmost sincerity and passion. In light of this recent development, I have taken proactive measures to change some parts of the song and actioned the replacement with this new version on all digital platforms to further avoid hurting anyone,” he wrote on Instagram.

“The replacement process takes a few days before the changes will reflect on all platforms, I request everyone to be patient during this period. I humbly offer my sincerest apologies to those whom I may have unknowingly hurt. My fans remain my bedrock, and I shall always hold them in the highest esteem and with boundless affection. Love Badshah,” he added.

As per several reports, Mahakaleshwar Temple’s senior priest in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain district had slammed Bashshah for using the name of Lord Shiva in the lyrics. He asked the rapper to remove the objective bits and also apologise for hurting the sentiments.

I would listen to the songs of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge on the way to Anjali’s house and Wankhede Stadium. My family is a big fan of this movie as well.”

But unlike the way stars generally travel by business class and private jets, this time around Kriti decided to travel in a rather simple way left onlookers surprised by it. Kriti opted to travel by economy class this time and passengers were left surprised, and we hear, some of them weren’t even aware of the actress being in the flight.

A paparazzo account recently uploaded videos of Kriti Sanon travelling in an economy class and she was also seen interacting with people around her. Another video featured the actress playing with a child on board as she was seen teaching to give a flying kiss. On the work front, Kriti Sanon is expected to feature alongside Shahid Kapoor in a Dinesh Vijan production. It is being said that the film is expected to feature the actress in the role of a robot. On the other hand, the actress is gearing up for the release of Adipurush, co-starring Prabhas and Saif Ali Khan this year. Palak Tiwari, who is the daughter of television actress Shweta Tiwari and her ex-husband Raja Chaudhary, made her acting debut in Salman Khan’s Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. Among many others, Palak’s stepfather Abhinav Kohli has also praised her performance. Abhinav wrote an appreciation note for Palak on his Instagram account after watching her on the big screen.

While talking to the comedian Zakir Khan in the latest episode of his show Kyun Ki Kyon Nahi, Zeenat said, “Woh ek zamana tha jahan yeh digital media tha hi nahi. Ek waqt main shopping karne gayi thi, khabar mil gayi logon ko. (That wasn’t the era of digital media. Once I went for shopping and people got a whiff about it) Thousands and thousands of people gathered outside the store. At the end, the store owner had to call the police, so that I could get into the van and leave the store.”

She added, “Back then, artists dikhte nahin the. (Back then, artists were not seen) Aaj kal aap har jagah dekho, TV pe hai, kuchh promote kar rahe hai, Instagram pe kahani dikha rahen hai. (These days wherever you see actors are promoting something on TV or showing stories on Instagram). Stars are much more readily available nowadays. Back then they were real stars.”

Bollywood Hungama was the first one to break the viral news in June 2022 that the third part of Hera Pheri is in the offing, as confirmed by producer Firoz Nadiadwala. It led to a lot of excitement among fans as it’s a highly awaited sequel, especially since the first two parts have been loved and have a cult following. In February this year, reports came in that the announcement video of the film has been shot. It broke the internet but the very next day, there was massive criticism when it came to light that Farhad Samji is directing the film. In March, ‘Remove Farhad Samji From Hera Pheri’ trended on Twitter for several days. Some days later, T-Series issued a public notice claiming that the production house is the “sole and exclusive right holder of all copyright of all Music and Audio Visual Song Rights” of the franchise in all mediums.

And now, Eros International, too, has jumped into the fray. As per a notice published in Komal Nahta’s Film Information Magazine, Eros has claimed that it holds the Intellectual Property Rights as well as the rights to the title, digital rights and music rights on a ‘sole and exclusive basis’. And that's not all. Eros also claimed that it has the exclusive rights to Welcome Back (2015).

Further, the notice stated that Firoz Nadiadwala's Base Industries Group owes Rs. 60,07,75,236, inclusive of interest, to Eros International as on April 17, 2023. The notice then claimed that Base Industries Group had agreed that until it doesn't make this payment, Eros International will possess the sole rights to Hera Pheri 3. It also claimed that Nadiadwala had made it clear that it would not create third-party rights or try to release Hera Pheri 3 in India or any part of the world without the consent of Eros International.

Towards the end, the notice emphasized that they have similar rights to all the forthcoming films of Firoz Nadiadwala, including Awara Paagal Deewana 2.

Finally, it requested everyone to refrain from doing any deal with Base Industries Group with regards to Hera Pheri 3.

Climate Warrior Bhumi Pednekar is setting herself on a massive mission to clean The Himalayas! On the occasion of World Earth Day, Bhumi announced that she is partnering with a non-profit, Healing Himalayas, that does extensive and exemplary work towards the preservation of ecology in the mountain range. Bhumi, who is also the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) ambassador, will now become the Goodwill Ambassador of Healing Himalayas! Bhumi’s work with Healing Himalayas will see her travelling to these mountainous regions and participating in cleanliness drives aimed at keeping The Himalayas clean.

Healing Himalayas Foundation is a seven-year-old organization formed to address the problem of garbage in a rather unique way - they are committed to restoring the pristine natural environment of the Himalayas. The organization has taken over the onerous task of cleaning out trash from the picturesque Himalayas. Their primary mission being - to dissolve the problem of waste management by collecting tons of non-biodegradable items discarded by the trekkers or pilgrims and disposing it properly at the base town/city where it can also be recycled.

To handle the collected waste through their cleanup campaigns & multiple panchayats which are a part of our Zero waste villages, they have built five material recovery facilities at locations (Mansari- Kullu district, Rakcham & Pooh village in Kinnaur, Tabo in Spiti & Narkanda in Shimla district) where tourist footfall is quite substantial. All the five facilities are operational and since last year they have collect 4-5 tonnes of non-biodegradable waste daily which is approximately 550 tonnes.

Speaking about this association Bhumi Pednekar said, “The motto of Healing Himalayas ‘Don't Wait for Change, Be the Change’ truly resonated with me. I believe that each one of us must realise our responsibility towards the planet and actively strive to reduce the impact of pollution and global warming. The time to act is now! Border not only remains one of Suniel Shetty’s best films but also one of his best performances. But it might come as a major surprise to his fans that the actor was hell-bent on not doing the film and was avoiding the film’s director JP Dutta for a long time. He revealed this in the latest episode of the podcast The Ranveer Show.

Shetty essayed the real life character Bhairon Singh Rathore, a BSF (Border Security Force) officer who played a major role in the 1971 Indo-Pak war, in the movie. The actor revealed on the podcast that he didn’t want to work with Dutta as he had heard about his short temper. “I had heard a lot of stories about JP Dutta, that he gets angry and abuses his actors,” said Shetty.

Dutta didn’t give up even after Shetty’s plain refusal. In fact, the filmmaker approached Shetty’s mother-in-law in order to persuade him to do the film. “When he came to me with Border, I refused to sign it. He made me hear the subject. I respected him but then I said no. He couldn’t understand why I had said no to that character. That struggle went on for 2-3 months and he was hell-bent on me doing that character. He got to (producer) Bharat Shah, who lived in my mother-in-law’s building, and he then went to my mother-in-law. It was her who convinced me to do Border,” revealed Shetty.

Although Shetty signed the film, he feared he might “beat up” Dutta. “I told mom that he is hot-headed and he might say things. I am hot-headed too. I might use my arm for certain things. So, I don’t want to bash up with JP Dutta and beat him up on the set. She told him that and JP said, ‘I only get upset when people don’t give their 100 per cent.’”

But Shetty’s experience was the opposite of what he feared and he was left in awe of Dutta. “After working with him in Border, I realised he is in love with the Indian forces, otherwise he would have been a commercial director. He would have done 100 films because there were 100 producers chasing him. But he only did what he believed in. So it was a life lesson from a man like that. For me, he is my guru today, master craftsman, and phenomenal human being,” he said.

Border also starred Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff, Akshaye Khanna, Pooja Bhatt, Puneet Issar and Kulbhushan Kharbanda, among others.

In a shocking turn of events, a complaint has been filed against popular singer-rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh and his team members for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting the owner of an event management agency. The complaint was lodged by the victim himself on Wednesday. Reportedly, a dispute arose between the event management agency and Honey Singh's team over the cancellation of an event. However, Honey Singh has denied the allegations and issued a statement through an Instagram post.

On Thursday evening, a day after the complaint was lodged, the rapper-singer took to his verified social media handle and stated that the allegations against him are "false" and "baseless." “The complaint and the allegations are false and baseless. There is no connection or agreement between my company or the complainant which the media is showing since morning,” read his note post.

Explaining it further, Singh wrote, “I was engaged for the Mumbai Show through a company named Tribevibe which is a reputed company and a sister concern of Bookmyshow. I did my performance for whatever time the permission was there for.” He signed off by stating, “Rest all such allegations are false and an attempt to tarnish my image. My Legal Team is already working to file a defamation case against such miscreants.”

For the unversed, according to the complaint filed with the BKC police, Vivek Ravi Raman, the organiser of a music festival called Yo Yo Honey Singh 3.0, alleged that Honey Singh and his associates were displeased with the event's cancellation. The complainant claimed that the singer-rapper and his associates subsequently kidnapped him, held him captive at a Mumbai hotel, and assaulted him. The music festival was scheduled to take place on April 15 at the MMRDA Grounds in BKC.

Diljit Dosanjh recently received a lot of rave reviews, not only from the audiences but also from many industry insiders, who were proud of his successful concert in the USA. Diljit became the first Punjabi musician to perform at the prestigious music festival of Coachella in California. And it seems audiences were not just cheering for the songs but many popular American celebs and viewers were also seen dancing to his tunes at the event. On the other hand, excited fans of Dosanjh shared excitement as they believed it to be a hint of a collaboration in the making. “Diplo (×) Diljit loading,” commented a user. “Ok ok here we go a new song is coming!,” asserted one. Another fan added, “The collab we never knew we needed.” One of them also dropped a comment in the quintessential Punjabi style adding, “Hun ta Collab pakki aa”. “Collab time,” said one of them whereas another one was quite sure about a song on the cards as they added, “truly looking forward for this collab”.

The much-awaited film, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, starring Salman Khan has finally released today in cinemas. Starring Salman Khan, this action entertainer has got a wide release in more than 4000 screens across the country. However, certain single screens in Delhi had no choice but to skip playing this film.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Theatres like Liberty, Delite and Amba are not playing Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. This is because Zee Studios, the distributors of the Salman Khan-starrer, asked them to sign a contract whereby they’ll have to compulsorily play the Ajay Devgn-starrer Maidaan and Sunny Deol-Ameesha Patel starrer Gadar 2.”

The source continued, “This was not acceptable to these theatres as Gadar 2 clashes with the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Animal on August 11. They didn’t want to lose out on it as it can also work big time. On the other hand, Maidaan releases on June 23, a week after Adipurush. The Prabhas-starrer can surprise and the exhibitors felt that it was not a good idea to discontinue playing it and replace it with Maidaan, especially if it’s doing well.”

With no other option, these theatres have decided to play Chengiz, a Bengali film dubbed in Hindi. Amba and Delite have even decided to re-release Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Pathaan. Liberty, on the other hand, is playing two shows of Chengiz and three shows of the Punjabi film Annhi Dea Mazaak Ae. It has released today and stars Ammy Virk.

However, another source said, “The discussions are going on and the issue will be resolved soon. Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan will release in Delite. The other cinemas are also expected to follow suit.”

Meanwhile, there were reports that a similar issue had cropped up in other circuits as well, over revenue-sharing terms. But the problem was resolved yesterday.
