Aamir Khan and his family had a gala time at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) launch in Mumbai. The Ambani family hosted a two-day event which saw the presence of big names in Bollywood and Hollywood. Amongst them was Nick Jonas, who arrived in India with his wife Priyanka Chopra Jonas and daughter Malti Marie. Aamir's daughter Ira Khan really lived her teenage and young-adult fantasies by meeting Nick and actress Kat Graham. Nick Jonas has been a part of the famous band Jonas Brothers since his childhood and recently reunited in 2019. Kat Graham played the pivotal role of the witch Bonnie Bennett in the supernatural series The Vampire Diaries. In the caption of her post, she tagged her fiance Nupur Shikhare and wrote, “My teenage fantasies, my young-adult fantasies and then my real-life fantasy. Nupur, you're it. Like Sanjeev Kumar and Jaya Bhaduri (Bachchan) in the bygone era, nothing stops another pair of real-life friends, Ajay Devgn and Tabu, from being cast with, but not necessarily opposite, each other. The two older actors were also very fond of each other. Sanjeev and Jaya started out playing father and daughter in Parichay and went on to do hits or successes like Koshish, Anamika and Naya Din Nayi Raat as a lead pair. They then went on to be father-in-law and widowed bahu in Sholay. And after a romantic outing in Nauker, they again came together to play the traumatized spouses to a straying wife and husband respectively in Silsila. A similar unusual ethos is seen in the Ajay and Tabu trajectory. Speaking to a popular magazine recently, Ajay said, “I have known Tabu since we were 13-14 years old. Our equation is friendly to the extent that we use gaali-galoch on each other. There is a certain comfort zone. I think that equation has never changed over the years.” As Ajay is almost 54, their friendship is now about four decades old, and their mutual comfort zone shows clearly on screen. Incidentally, though Tabu had signed Prem first as the leading lady, her first film with Ajay, Vijaypath, really made her a star and the ‘Ruk Ruk Ruk’ girl. And that film went on floors 30 years ago! As the time spent together increased, their friendship got a further boost. Haqeeqat and Thakshak, which came in the next few years, however, nosedived commercially, and while Tabu went on to experiment with mid-stream, arty and even regional and international cinema, Ajay stayed the course as a mainstream hero and was paired with all the other major heroines. And so it took all of 16 years before they came together again, and began breaking new ground. The first such film was Drishyam (2015), with Tabu as a ruthless and also bereaved cop, investigating the case of her missing son, with Ajay Devgn as the family man who is suspected of murdering him. While there were several sequences of confrontation between them, the scene that stood out was the climax, wherein Ajay as good as informs the mother that her son is no more and Tabu breaks down. At that time, Tabu had told me, “I have always known him as Vishal (Ajay’s real name) and I wish I was friends with him on-screen, but this time I am not! Yet, Ajay has not changed one bit. He is the same good friend and fun-loving person, except that he has become a father! But working with him was such a relaxing experience. See, he has seen so much, is in such a strong position today, comes from a film family and has directed films—so he is never too serious, and shooting becomes like a picnic or a party. In fact, I would sometimes wonder if I was working or was on a holiday.” The 2022 super-hit sequel, Drishyam 2, however, saw the fiery cop back in action to prove Ajay’s guilt, with the latter even more determined to protect his family and himself. In-between these two movies came Fitoor (2016), in which both made cameos. Ajay played hero Aditya Roy Kapur’s godfather, and Tabu was Aditya’s ladylove Katrina Kaif’s mother in this messed-up adaptation of the classic British novel, Great Expectations. After this came Golmaal Again (2017), a bumper hit that saw Ajay in his now cult character as Gopal, one of the Golmaal gang, who was in love with a young girl, while Tabu essayed a psychic librarian! Romance again, but with a twist, marked their 2019 hit, De De Pyaar De. Ajay now played a middle-aged man who falls for a young girl and Tabu was his wife and homemaker, who finally lets him marry the girl. About this film, Tabu had told me, “For us, it was like taking off from the Vijaypath days! Both of us felt we are still in that era. He has not changed, neither have I, and he even looks the same, and I am told so do I!” Recently, Ajay quipped that Tabu was in so many films of his simply because her dates were available, but their roles too did deserve their powerhouse talents. The just-released Bholaa marks Tabu’s first experience with Ajay as producer and director. Tabu plays a feisty cop again, but Ajay essays a man just released from jail and wanting to meet his daughter, of whose existence he never knew, but is living in an orphanage. The cop emotionally blackmails him, however, into completing her own mission against a drug mafia before meeting his kid. The actress calls him an amazing director, who looked at everything from an actor’s perspective as he was himself one. “He is very clear, but also very serious and barely talks! But he is not the same man I know as an actor at all!” Their crackling chemistry will continue with their just-signed new film, billed by director Neeraj Pandey as a romantic musical thriller, Auron Mein Kahaan Dum Tha. Unwilling to reveal details about their pairing, Neeraj, however, lets on that it will be “very different”. And we expect nothing less from this peerless pair. Zayed Khan recently completed 20 years in the film industry. His thriller, Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne was released on March 21, 2003, and on this special occasion, the actor put up a dashing picture on his Instagram handle and promised his followers that his next release is around the corner. A few days after this post, which got loads of appreciation, Bollywood Hungama exclusively spoke to Zayed Khan. The actor looked quite dashing and seemed excited as he opened up about his comeback film, TFTNW, where, in his own words, the butt of jokes is him. The film’s idea and concept came from actor Aseem Merchant, who also produced the film. Aseem, Zayed and Mohit Srivastava and Kavin Dave have penned the script while Mohit has also directed this mockumentary film. As per reports, the film stars 15-20 prominent Bollywood personalities in cameos like Riteish Deshmukh, Farah Khan, Suzanne Khan, Jackie Shroff etc. Zayed Khan remained tightlipped about this aspect, the meaning of the title and on which digital platform it’ll premiere. However, Zayed was more than happy to share how he became a part of the film. Zayed Khan began by saying, “For the first 10 years, I gave it my all. I lived out of the suitcase as I went for shoots, events, performances, shows etc. I also had children at a really early age. I read the biography of a very famous gentleman who stated how he missed out on the growing years of his children. It just struck me that my kids are growing up and I want to spend time with them. I consciously decided to step back. That’s the worst thing to do! On one level, it was really nice as I got to experience a lot of things I wanted, as a father. I took them on holidays. I am a sportsman myself and introduced them to sports like diving. But when you completely disappear from the radar, people forget easily.” Zayed Khan continued, “When I wanted to come back into the industry, I realized that it was very hard. Of course, you have friends and people who can help you out. They are, however, not the ones who take the call. The audience is the one who makes the call. The studios represent what the audience demands. Also, things had changed a lot. People don’t have the time and patience to watch a 2 ½ hour-long film. Many will of course ask, ‘Who the hell is Zayed Khan?’.” He added, “Also, my kids had never really seen me in action, on a film set. Everytime I go out with family and friends, there’ll be people taking pictures with me. They didn’t really get why this frenzy was there around me.” It’s Zayed Khan’s children, Zidaan and Aariz Khan, who gave him the much needed push, “One day, my kids came up to me and said, ‘Why don’t you resume acting?’. I replied, ‘If that happens, I won’t get time to see you guys’. They were fine with it and insisted that they would want to see me work in movies. They helped germinate the idea.” Zayed stated, “Then, I met a lot of people and tried to produce. But the warmth that was given to me when I was a star was very different. It dawned on me that this is a star-based system. One can believe that writing is now paramount and things are streamlined. But at the end of the day, everyone wants to know who’s starring in your film or show. You can write a work as great as that of Shakespeare but nobody will give a damn if a star is not mouthing your lines.” Things, however, changed for the better for Zayed. He narrated, “One day, I was a little low. A friend, Aseem Merchant, walked in. He looked at me and asked, ‘You are such a lovely, good-looking guy. Why the hell are you not doing anything?’. It’s an easy question to ask but very difficult for me to answer! How do I tell him that I tried, went to a lot of places and irrespective of where I come from, it didn’t work out? I didn’t say that. I replied, ‘I don’t know, man. Let’s see what happens’. This is when he said that he has an idea and wants to cast me. I looked at him with dodgy eyes and asked, ‘Why do you want to do a film with me?’! Aseem simply said, ‘The best is yet to come from you’! It was nice to see somebody having some faith in me.” Zayed further said, “Aseem then narrated the idea of TFTNW. On the face of it, it sounded promising. But I was apprehensive. I mean I was already down and then I do a film where the butt of the jokes is on me. What if things get messed up at the execution level? However, I have been brought up with the attitude that ‘No risk, no reward’. I also asked, ‘What do I have to lose?’” Zayed described the writing process and said, “When I read the first script, I could see that the writers (Aseem Merchant, Mohit Srivastava and Kavin Dave) had a lot of reservations about not trying to hurt me too much! I told them to push the envelope. I was ready to be the butt of all jokes. I told them, ‘If you feel some jokes are going to hurt my sentiments, make it f*****g funny while you do so’! That’s when they cleared their feathers out and came back with another draft. From here on, the writing went to another crazy level.” Zayed is all praises for Aseem Merchant, “I’d like to make a special mention of Aseem and his daughter Sasha. They both are an incredible team. They made a blind bet by signing me. I want to also specially mention Mohit Srivastava, the director. He is very sound technically and never bogged down under pressure. The whole unit was like one big happy family. So overall, it was a great journey. I discovered so much about myself all over again.” Zayed then explains why he’s so confident about TFTNW, “We had a focus group screening. It had 100 people from the ages of 10 to 90 years old and different walks of life. My kids also attended the screening. Their response blew us! My kids watched it 7 times. They have never seen any of my films 7 times besides probably Main Hoon Na (2004)! Every time we’ll have a focus screening, they’ll ask me, ‘Papa, can we watch it again?’. I asked, ‘Do you really want to watch it or are you saying it to make me feel good?’. But they assured me that they loved the film.” Zayed Khan signed off by saying, “It was so heartening to see not just children but even teenagers, the elderly, and middle-aged people - all loving TFTNW. It’s very hard to achieve this feat. The mega star Ajay Devgn, also called ‘Mass Maharaja’ by his fans, turns 54 today. It’ll be a special birthday for him today as his much-awaited biggie, Bholaa, was released just a few days ago. Thankfully, it is doing quite well and has given him a reason for a double celebration. Interestingly, if Bholaa sustains well, it’ll be his second consecutive success after the mega-blockbuster, Drishyam 2 (2022). This will be a rare instance for an actor in the post-pandemic era, where even the biggest of films are falling like nine pins. Also, it was said that remakes won’t work in Bollywood. Ajay Devgn proved this notion wrong not once but twice as both Drishyam 2 and Bholaa have been adapted from South films. Ajay Devgn’s box office achievements are known and a lot has been written about it. This article, however, will focus on the lesser-known aspect of how he has always given back to the industry, like no other actor. Not many know that Ajay Devgn is also an exhibitor and runs a chain of cinemas called NY Cinemas. In a thoughtful gesture, this cinema chain has acquired theatres that were shut down and have refurbished them. The ticket rates in these theatres are reasonable and some of them are located in towns which had no cinema hall. It has been said time and again that India is heavily under-screened and if there are more theatres, the business can expand. In this regard, Ajay has done a great service to the industry. In a Bollywood Hungama exclusive interview after the release of Golmaal Again (2017), Ajay Devgn said, “I have started taking theatres that have been shut down in Uttar Pradesh. Till now, I already have 4 theatres running. I intend to take the number to 150 or 200. 80 theatres in UP have shut down and these are in cities which have a population of around 10 lakhs. If you add the total population of such towns, imagine the number of people who are not getting to see a film due to the lack of theatres in their towns. The locals have to travel 80 km to catch a film. They’ll do it for a film like Golmaal but why would they (take so much effort) for a film that they are not excited about or doesn’t have the cinematic experience?” Then, in 2015, Ajay Devgn established NY VFXWaala and has constantly attempted to provide top-class CGI in films. This studio has worked on films like Dilwale (2015), Bajirao Mastani (2015), Dangal (2016), Shivaay (2016), Baahubali 2 (2017), Jagga Jasoos (2017), Golmaal Again (2017), Padmaavat (2018), Simmba (2018), Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior (2020) etc. It has won a National Award for Shivaay. It has been majorly instrumental in having a setup where films can be shot in controlled environments against green screens and not in challenging outdoor locations. Saif Ali Khan, in an interview in 2020, drew an interesting parallel between acting in Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior and Laal Kaptaan (2019), “Everything you see on screen (in Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior) is Filmistan Studios. Director Siddharth Anand has delivered two monstrous hits back to back with War and now Pathaan, which has also become the all-time highest-grossing Hindi film worldwide in the history of cinema. There is a viewing pattern that has changed. And those films were unfortunately victims of that change. Even when I was making War, there was a sense of parallel cinema is the new commercial cinema in 2018-2019. You had small independent films and big ideas doing much better than tentpole films till War happened. Bottega Veneta's creative director Matthieu Blazy welcomed BTS star RM as their new global ambassador via social media. ARMY had suspected that RM is all set to become the brand ambassador for the Italian luxury brand when he was spotted at the Bottega Veneta show during the Milan Fashion Week 2023. Karan Johar is getting ready for the new season of his smash-hit talk show Koffee With Karan. Preparations are on to lock in the dates for Season 8. Filmmaker Om Raut and producer Bhushan Kumar recently visited the holy Vaishno Devi temple on the occasion of Navratri and to seek blessings for their upcoming keenly awaited film Adipurush, which stars Prabhas and Kriti Sanon in lead roles. For the unversed, Vaishno Devi is one of the foremost pilgrimage sites in India, situated in Jammu and Kashmir. Sharing more about the visit, a statement from the makers said, “Remarking the creation of universe and beginning of the world by Maa Shri Durga, Chaitra Navratri holds immense significance in the Hindu culture! With this belief and Shri Gulshan Kumar’s immense faith in Maa Vaishno Devi, the makers seek divine blessings for Adipurush.” Adipurush is the retelling of the great Indian epic Ramayana. The film will see Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Sunny Singh and Saif Ali Khan essay the roles of Lord Ram, Sita, Lakshman and Raavan respectively. Sharing more about the film, Kriti had told the agency PTI (Press Trust of India) earlier this year, “It is a film that the entire team is extremely proud of. I hope and pray that people will also equally be proud of it. It is something that is so important to all of us. It is just not a film for us, it is way more than that. I hope it gets its due. I have a feeling it will. It is important to make these stories. It is educational for kids. Prime Video recently announced the fictional drama Jubilee which has left the audience excited ever since the first look of the series. The Amazon Original series which is set parallel to the evolution of both India and the Hindi film industry is a layered drama, interwoven with multiple characters - a studio boss, his movie-star wife, a trusted aide, a rising star, a nautch girl, and a refugee - and their dreams and ambitions. It features the Bumba Da aka Bengal cinema’s superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee as studio head, Srikant Roy, of the illustrious Roy Talkies. Ever since the announcement of Jubilee, which is also the superstar’s first OTT series, his fans have been excited about the series premiere. Speaking of this character, the legendary actor shares, “I was living Srikant Roy’s character for 7 months before shooting (due to lockdown), there were just minor changes when I got back on the sets. In the series, you will see me in a very nice hairstyle. This is dedicated to my father Biswajeet Chatterjee, they used to have that kind of styling back in the days.” Directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, Jubilee is created by Soumik Sen along with Motwane and is produced by Andolan Films in association with Reliance Entertainment and Phantom Studios. The choices that we make, the things that we say, we can create our own path. I am quite kicked with the diversity of parts but I tend to resonate more with positive parts. Also, human beings even while they are positive, they can also be flawed. I find that interesting. Nawazuddin Siddiqui has moved the court for defaming and maligning his image and has filed a defamation suit against Shamas Nawab Siddiqui and former wife Aaliya Siddiqui seeking damages of Rs. 100 crores. As per current reports, the hearing will be held on March 30 by Justice RI Chagla. The suit has come after several allegations were thrown against the Kick actor after his wife accused the Siddiqui family of harassment and torture. In his suit, the actor has alleged that the allegations thrown towards him has affected his public image. In the suit that has been filed through advocate Sunil Kumar, Nawazuddin Siddiqui has alleged that he is unable to make any kind of appearances or attend social gatherings owing to the many accusations thrown towards him. He has alleged that these ‘misleading claims’ have impacted his career and hence, he has also requested the court to pass an order of injunction to restrict his brother and estranged wife Anjana Pandey alias Aaliya Siddiqui from making any more defamatory comments against him, along with a request added for taking down the already existing remarks and statements against him. Furthermore, in the same suit, Nawazuddin Siddiqui has also alleged that his brother has committed several fraudulent transactions which has resulted in major monetary loss for the actor. The actor has further alleged that due to misappropriation of funds, the actor currently owes a whopping amount of Rs. 37 crores to the government, after his brother failed to make some major payments. Furthermore, he has also accused his wife Aaliya Siddiqui of being an accomplice to his brother and misappropriating Rs. 21 crores. As per the given report, when Nawazuddin confronted his brother regarding the missing funds, the latter is claimed to have ‘instigated’ Nawaz’s estranged wife against the Siddiqui family, which led to her alleging that how her in-laws tortured and harassed her. With the hearing to be held on March 30, it is yet to be seen how the case proceeds. The process of healing after Amitabh Bachchan’s recent injury on the sets of Nag Ashwin’s Project K in Hyderabad, is taking longer than expected. “Even when the ribs are repaired, he won’t be allowed to shoot for a while,” says a close family friend. Mr Bachchan who will turn 81 in October, is raring to get back on his feet. “He is getting extremely restless. It’s been three weeks since he has been advised complete bedrest. He’s done with his quota of binge-watching and reading. He wants to get back to shooting ASAP, which doctors have advised him against,” the family friend reveals. It is likely that the mega-star, known to have suffered near-fatal accidents and illnesses in the past, would get back on his feet and resume shooting against doctors’ advice. In an interview in the past Mr Bachchan had said this writer, “It is only when I am at work shooting that I feel a complete sense of being alive. Over a week ago, Bollywood actor Salman Khan's security was beefed up by the Mumbai Police after one of his associates, Jordy Patel, received a threat via an email. His close friend Prashant Gunjalkar filed a complaint regarding the same and a case was registered at the Bandra Police Station in Mumbai against gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, Goldy Brar and a person named Rohit Garg under IPC sections 506(2),120(b) & 34. Now, Mumbai Police has arrested a man named Dhakad Ram Bishnoi in Jodhpur in connection with the email threatening case. As per reports, Dhakad Ram Bishnoi (21) is a resident of Siyagon ki Dhani in Rohicha Kalan village in Jodhpur. He was reportedly out on bail under the Arms Act. Gaurav Yadav, Jodhpur’s DCP (West), said that a team from Mumbai’s Bandra Police had arrived to arrest him. “They asked us to assist them in detaining Bishnoi. We provided them with the support and handed Bishnoi over to the Mumbai PoliceYadav said, as reported by PTI on Sunday. "After a detailed technical investigation into the case, police got information about the accused person's whereabouts, following which a team was sent to Rajasthan and the man was apprehended," a police official said. According to a previous report in PTI, a police official said that “two Assistant Police Inspector (API)-rank officers and eight to ten constables will be part of Khan's security detail round the clock.” The official also added that fans won’t be allowed to assemble outside Salman’s Galaxy Apartments residence in Bandra. It was earlier reported that Y-plus security has been provided to Salman Khan by the police. He will also travel in bullet-proof car with his personal security detail. Additional security measures have also been given to the actor. As per reports, a person named Rohit Garg allegedly issued the threat and mentioned Goldy Brar, Canadian gangster's name, saying the latter wants to meet the actor in person. Recently, Lawrence Bishnoi also allegedly said that killing Salman is his life's goal. In a recent report shared by ABP News, Bishnoi was quoted saying, “There is anger in our society for Salman Khan. He humiliated my society. A case was filed against him but he did not apologize. If he does not tender an apology, be ready to face the consequences. I will not depend on anyone else.” He went on to add that he has been harboring the feeling of hatred ever since childhood. Bishnoi continued, “Will break his ego sooner or later. He should come to our deity’s temple and apologize.
