There was a time, not too long ago, when it was considered that films should not be too lengthy; or else, it might put off a section of the audience. But in 2023, the myth was broken by Animal (2023). It had a runtime of 3 hours and 23 minutes. Pushpa 2 (2025), meanwhile, was also long – 3 hours 20 minutes. Dhurandhar, the biggest hit of 2025 and Hindi cinema, went one step further as it was 3 hours and 34 minutes long. Incidentally, all three were major blockbusters. And joining this elite list is Border 2. Bollywood Hungama has learned that the period war drama’s run time has exceeded 3 hours.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Border 2 is around 200 minutes long. In other words, its duration is around 3 hours and 20 minutes. The exact run time might change by a few minutes after the final touches are given. It will be locked in a few days and will be known once the film secures a censor certificate.”

The source further added, “The makers feel that it was necessary for the film to have such a lengthy run time as they want viewers to get a proper idea of the war being depicted in the film. Moreover, there are 4 major actors (Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty) and their tracks; justice needs to be done to them. This is the reason for its run time. At the same time, the makers have ensured that the film has enough dramatic, massy and patriotic moments to keep the viewers gripped and also compel them to break into claps or whistles.”

Border 2 releases on January 23 to take advantage of the Republic Day holiday, on Monday, January 26, and also the extended four-day weekend. While the first part, Border (1997), was directed by J P Dutta, the sequel is directed by Anurag Singh of Kesari (2019) fame. J P Dutta, this time, has produced the film along with Nidhi Dutta and also Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar of T-Series.

January – a month of lengthy films

Border 2 is not the only film this month to be 3 hours plus long. This week’s The Raja Saab has a run time of 3 hours and 9 minutes, while Jana Nayagan is expected to be 3 hours and 3 minutes long.

The roadmap includes 20-30 new wellness spas in metros and Tier-1 cities, 4-6 destination wellness retreats, 2-3 boutique wellness resorts in nature-led or coastal locations, and 1-2 luxury wellness residential or vacation home projects.

Backed by this robust expansion pipeline, the EBG-Carlton platform is projecting revenues of Rs 80-120 crores in FY 2025-26, scaling to Rs 180-250 crores in FY 2026-27. Revenue streams will be driven by spa operations and memberships, retreat and resort bookings, licensing and revenue-share models, managed wellness vacation homes, and curated brand collaborations and wellness programs.

Over the next 5 years, the alliance aims to establish flagship assets and urban spa leadership by 2025-26, expand to over 50 wellness touchpoints nationwide by 2027-28, and emerge by 2029-30 as India’s largest regulated wellness network, with plans for international expansion into GCC and Southeast Asian markets.

Salman Khan, who is currently occupied with the upcoming war drama Battle of Galwan, is reportedly in discussions with filmmaker duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK for a potential new project. While details remain tightly under wraps, industry buzz suggests that the film being discussed is an action-comedy — a genre Salman is expected to revisit after several years.

According to a report by Pinkvilla, the collaboration is still in its early stages, but the prospect itself has generated significant interest. Raj and DK, known for blending sharp humour with stylised action, are said to be keen on mounting a large-scale entertainer if the alignment works out. If finalised, the project would mark Salman Khan’s first-ever association with the director duo, making it a notable collaboration in Bollywood’s commercial space.

A source was quoted telling in these reports, “Salman Khan has heard the basic idea and has shown interest in it. It’s an action-comedy, but it will also present Khan in a slightly different space. However, he is yet to give his final nod to the project.” The source also added, “If everything falls into place and Salman comes on board, the makers are looking to take the film on floors by the end of 2026. At the moment, it’s all about aligning creatively and locking the script.”

Given that discussions are still preliminary, no official announcement is expected until the script and creative vision are fully locked. Both parties are reportedly focused on ensuring the material offers something fresh while staying true to the mass appeal associated with Salman Khan.

On the work front, Salman is gearing up for the release of Battle of Galwan, which is based on the real-life events that unfolded on June 15, 2020, in the Galwan Valley. The film chronicles the clash between Indian and Chinese troops, where around 200 Indian soldiers defended their territory against a force of 1200 Chinese Liberation Army soldiers. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film also stars Chitrangda Singh in a key role and is slated for an April release this year.

Meanwhile, Raj and DK continue to ride high on the success of The Family Man Season 3. The duo is expected to return with the next season soon, which will serve as a continuation of the third instalment, retaining the same characters while amplifying the action and drama quotient.

While fans await official confirmation, the possibility of Salman Khan teaming up with Raj and DK for an action-comedy has already sparked curiosity, promising a blend of mass entertainment and contemporary storytelling if it materialises.

Bollywood actor Shraddha Kapoor is gearing up for a packed and varied year in her film career, with back-to-back projects lined up for 2026. After completing work on the biographical drama Eetha, she is set to begin shooting the much-anticipated fantasy film Naagin in April.

Final Stretch of Eetha Production

Kapoor is currently in the final phase of filming Eetha, directed by Laxman Utekar, in which she portrays legendary Tamasha and Lavani performer Vithabai Narayangaonkar. The role has demanded intense physical preparation and emotional depth, with the actress undergoing months of training.

A production source told Mid-Day: “Shraddha has been deeply invested in Eetha. The role is physically gruelling and emotionally intense, but she is keen to finish the film within the schedule. The makers are confident of wrapping by March.”

The shoot experienced a brief pause after Kapoor sustained an injury during a dance sequence, but insiders say this did not significantly derail the schedule.

Shraddha Kapoor’s Transition to Naagin

Immediately after completing Eetha, Kapoor will switch genres and begin work on Naagin, a high-concept fantasy film slated to go on floors in April 2026. According to the report, the project has been in development for some time, with efforts focused on finalising visual design and casting ahead of principal photography.

The report quoted a production insider saying: “Naagin has been in development for a long time, and the team wanted to get everything right — from the VFX design to the casting. With Shraddha locked in, the rest of the cast has fallen into place. The plan is to start shooting by April.”

The film is expected to explore supernatural and mythological themes, marking a distinct shift from Kapoor’s recent performance-driven role in Eetha.

Farhad Samji is known for directing mass-appealing and often comical films like Bachchhan Paandey (2022), Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (2023), Housefull 4 (2019), etc. and writing (along with brother Sajid) memorable films like Singham (2011), Bol Bachchan (2012), Housefull 2 (2012), Chennai Express (2013), etc. However, with his next project, he is all set to switch genres. It has come to light that Farhad has written a film on Senior Inspector Subhash Shinde who contributed to cricket.

The film in question is an adaptation of the book 'Safed Khaki' written by Atharwa Shinde, daughter of Subhash Shinde. In an interview to Mid-Day in November 2025, she revealed that Nishikant Kamat of Mumbai Meri Jaan (2008) and Drishyam (2015) fame was impressed by the story and wanted to make a film at one point. But the project was stalled after his demise in 2020.

But later, Farhad Samji came on board and he, along with Piyush Singh, has now written the screenplay and dialogues. Atharwa told Mid-Day, “I feel immense joy and deep gratitude that Farhad Samji is writing the screenplay and dialogues for my story.”

Moreover, Nitin Ramesh Tendulkar, elder brother of Sachin Tendulkar and a respected lyricist in Marathi cinema, will pen the songs of the film.

About Subhash Shinde

As per the Mid-Day article, Subhash Shinde spent over four decades with the Maharashtra Police, mostly in the Crime Branch. In his younger days, he also trained under the Bombay Cricket Association–Mafatlal Bowling Scheme, which began in 1990. On November 11, 2011, he built a police cricket team from scratch in Navi Mumbai Rural. Few expected much from it, but the team went on to win several tournaments on the MCA (Mumbai Cricket Association) and state circuits, including the Times Shield, Government Shield, DY Patil Tournament, Kanga League, Kurla Bapat Tournament, Thane Vaibhav Tournament, and many other MCA-affiliated office and corporate events.

Anil Kapoor has had an illustrious career and has delivered several memorable films. One film that stands out in his filmography is Nayak (2001). The political drama didn’t work in cinemas but became a cult film later on. Fans have long demanded a sequel to Nayak and Bollywood Hungama has learned that the plan might finally materialize.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Producer Deepak Mukut of Sanam Teri Kasam (2016) fame held the rights to Nayak. It is said that Anil Kapoor has bought the rights from him. He plans to hold the rights as it’s a film close to his heart. Also, he aspires to make a sequel to it. He is fully aware of the love he has garnered for the film over the years and he also is of the belief that the subject of Nayak has tremendous potential for a second part.”

We contacted Deepak Mukut to find out if he has sold the rights of Nayak to Anil Kapoor but he was unavailable for comment.

In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama in March 2024, Deepak Mukut told Bollywood Hungama, “I got the rights from Nayak’s producer, Mr A S Rathnam. I also have the negative rights to his other films like Tejasvini (1994), Dil Hi Dil Mein (1999), etc. It was 10 years ago that I procured these rights.”

Besides Anil Kapoor, Nayak also starred Rani Mukerji, the late Amrish Puri, Paresh Rawal, Saurabh Shukla, Johny Lever, Shivaji Satam, Neena Kulkarni and others. Pooja Batra appeared in a cameo while Sushmita Sen was seen in a song. Written and directed by Shankar, it told the story of a fearless reporter who becomes the Chief Minister of Maharashtra for a day. Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s production powerhouse Excel Entertainment has entered into a strategic partnership with Hollywood giant Universal Studios, signalling a new phase of global collaboration and scale-up for Indian content. Universal Studios has acquired a minority stake in Excel, while the larger share remains with the Indian banner, according to a report by Mid-Day.

What the Partnership Means

Insiders tell Mid-Day that Universal’s minority acquisition is aimed at scaling up Excel’s production capabilities and bringing “big ideas” to life with broader global reach. “Excel wants to expand the scale of its productions going ahead,” shared a source. “There are big ideas in the pipeline.”

Excel Entertainment’s 2025 slate included a diverse mix of films such as 120 Bahadur, Ground Zero, Superboys of Malegaon, and the digital release Songs of Paradise. While these projects garnered critical acclaim, several did not see major box-office success — prompting strategic reassessment and expansion efforts via partnerships like this one.

This collaboration follows a trend of major studios investing in Indian entertainment. Earlier, Adar Poonawalla’s acquisition of a 50% stake in Dharma Productions demonstrated international interest in India’s film powerhouses.

For Akhtar and Sidhwani — whose banner has backed films like Dil Chahta Hai, Don, and acclaimed web series (Inside Edge, Mirzapur) — the Universal tie-up underscores a forward-looking approach to storytelling that blends Indian narratives with global ambitions. The collaboration may also unlock new opportunities for cross-border co-productions and innovative cinematic ventures that appeal to both domestic and international audiences.

A political storm is brewing around Shah Rukh Khan’s IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) after the franchise signed Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season. The controversial decision has drawn sharp criticism not only from political leaders but also from the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction) — which warned that the player’s IPL earnings could potentially be diverted to fund terrorism.

The issue erupted after KKR selected Mustafizur Rahman, the only Bangladeshi cricketer picked in the 2026 IPL auction for Rs 9.2 crores. While some commentators have framed the move as a purely sporting decision, it quickly became a political flashpoint, with critics linking the signing to broader concerns about national security and religious sentiments.

Mumbai, Maharashtra: On KKR buying a Bangladeshi player, Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Anand Dubey says, "...If Shah Rukh Khan removes him from his team, we will all respect him, honor him, and give him due recognition. But if Shah Rukh Khan plays him and earns money, that money… pic.twitter.com/o5s1bAhyYV — IANS (@ians_india) January 1, 2026

On January 1, 2026, Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Anand Dubey issued a warning aimed at Khan — who co-owns KKR — saying that if the club allows Mustafizur Rahman to participate, the earnings he receives in the IPL might be used “to fund terrorism.” Dubey suggested that removing the player from the team could earn respect, but alleged that permitting him to play would pose potential risks.

This is not the first politically charged reaction to KKR’s signing. Earlier, BJP leaders and other figures voiced opposition over Mustafizur’s inclusion, linking it to minority persecution in Bangladesh and broader national sentiments. Some have even called Shah Rukh Khan a “traitor” for supporting foreign players after the killing of Deepu Chandra Das in Bangladesh.

While calling Shahrukh Khan a traitor, UP BJP leader Sangeet Som in a statement said," If a player like Rahman come to India, he will not be able to step out of the airport." pic.twitter.com/4RuhsGYWzJ — Piyush Rai (@Benarasiyaa) December 31, 2025

As the IPL 2026 season approaches, KKR’s roster choice remains a talking point, and reactions from both critics and supporters indicate that discussions will continue on and off the field.

PVR INOX, in association with Yash Raj Films, will re-release Band Baaja Baaraat on January 16, 2026—15 years after its original release on December 10, 2010. Directed by Maneesh Sharma, the film marked the debut of Ranveer Singh and starred Anushka Sharma in a sparkling story of ambition, love, and friendship, set against the vibrant world of Delhi weddings. Produced by Yash Raj Films, Band Baaja Baaraat went on to become a cultural phenomenon, earning both critical acclaim and immense audience love for its youthful, infectious energy, memorable music, and refreshingly new storytelling.

Band Baaja Baaraat reimagined both romance and friendship by situating its protagonists within the frenetic, lived-in world of Delhi weddings. Deeply rooted in local culture and everyday reality, the film had quietly reset the rules of the modern Bollywood love story. It captured an aspirational, entrepreneurial India—young, ambitious, and unapologetically middle-class—with rare warmth and authenticity. Its cultural impact lay in normalising the idea that love could grow out of partnership, equality, and conflict rather than grand destiny alone, while also turning the Indian wedding from a glossy backdrop into a lived-in social ecosystem. Cinematically, it ushered in a new wave of rom-coms grounded in rooted settings, colloquial dialogue, and flawed characters.

Speaking about the re-release, Niharika Bijli, Lead Strategist, PVR INOX, said, “Band Baaja Baaraat is one of those rare films that never loses its charm. It remains fun and immensely relatable, no matter when—or with whom—you watch it. Re-releasing the film is our way of celebrating modern storytelling that continues to resonate across generations. With its timeless music, sharp humour, and deeply lived-in performances, the film captures the spirit of friendship, love, ambition, and life just as it is. We’re excited to bring it back for a new generation to discover its magic on the big screen."

Director of the film, Maneesh Sharma, said, “Band Baaja Baaraat was born from a very simple idea. I had read a magazine piece about young Indian entrepreneurs, and something stayed with me—people with limited resources still stepping out, taking risks, and trying to build something of their own, even on a small scale. That became the seed of the story. It eventually grew into a film about love, friendship, and ambition—authentic, messy, and deeply rooted in the streets we know. Over the years, the film has found a life of its own with audiences across generations, geographies, and different moments in their lives. I am really looking forward to see people loving our film that was made with a lot of heart again on the big screen.”

The re-release of Band Baaja Baaraat is part of PVR INOX’s ongoing initiative to honour exceptional talents and landmark films from India and around the world. By bringing timeless films back to the big screen, PVR INOX not only revives the magic of great cinema but also creates a rare opportunity—for a new generation to discover these cinematic masterpieces and for the generation that grew up with them to relive their nostalgia and charm.

Audiences can experience the joy, music, romance, and celebration of Band Baaja Baaraat once again at PVR INOX cinemas starting January 16, 2026. Booking details and theatre listings will be available soon on the official PVR INOX app and website.

The year 2026 will begin on a thrilling and erotic note for Indian cinegoers, thanks to the release of The Housemaid. The film released in the West on December 19 and has been appreciated for its subject, twists and turns and performances, especially that of Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried. However, Indian audiences may be disappointed to learn that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has edited out a significant portion of the film’s intimate scenes.

The CBFC awarded The Housemaid an ‘A’ certificate on December 4 after asking for some modifications. The words ‘b***h’, ‘c**t’ and ‘motherf****r’ were muted, as per the recommendations of the Examining Committee. Secondly, the studio partner was asked to delete ‘nudity visuals of women's breasts…whenever it occurs’. As a result, a whopping 8 minutes of screen time have been axed, the longest cut due to censor diktats in recent times.

Bollywood Hungama has learned that a long, intense lovemaking scene involving Sydney Sweeney won’t be available in India. Another similar sequence has also faced cuts. A scene of Amanda Seyfried using a breast pump was also asked to be removed. However, a brief shot showing the buttocks of the male lead, Brandon Sklenar, has been retained.

Despite the cuts, the film’s narrative and erotic nature remain largely unaffected, according to those who saw the censored version. The original run time of The Housemaid was 131.46 minutes, that is, 2 hours, 11 minutes and 46 seconds. After the cuts and inclusion of the anti-smoking ad in the beginning and after the interval, the revised duration of the film in India is 125.46 minutes. In other words, The Housemaid is now 2 hours, 5 minutes and 46 seconds long.

The Housemaid tells the story of a woman on parole who’s desperate to find work. She lands a job as a housemaid at the palatial residence of a wealthy family. All seems well at first, but she slowly realizes that her life could be in danger while working for them.

The much-anticipated Pan-India film Spirit, bringing together director Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Prabhas for the first time, has officially kicked off 2026 with a major reveal. As the clock struck midnight welcoming the New Year, the makers unveiled the first look of the film, instantly sending fans into a frenzy and reaffirming the project’s status as one of the most talked-about upcoming releases.

Spirit has been under the spotlight ever since its announcement, largely due to the powerful combination of Prabhas and Vanga, both known for delivering intense, high-impact cinema. The first-look reveal at the turn of the year was a calculated promotional move, and one that Vanga has successfully employed in the past. Ahead of the reveal, the filmmaker teased audiences on social media on December 31 by writing, “People… A few hours more for SPIRIT – First Poster,” sparking widespread excitement and speculation.

Interestingly, this strategy mirrors the promotional approach Vanga used years ago while announcing Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor. That midnight tease had gone on to create significant online chatter, and with Spirit, the director appears to have recreated the same sense of anticipation—this time on an even bigger, pan-India scale.

The film had already made headlines earlier this year following a casting change that drew considerable attention. Deepika Padukone, who was initially associated with the project, exited the film citing work-hour concerns. Subsequently, Triptii Dimri was brought on board, a move that further intensified curiosity around the film. Spirit marks Triptii’s first collaboration with Prabhas and her second association with Sandeep Reddy Vanga after Animal, making her casting particularly noteworthy.

Apart from Prabhas and Triptii Dimri, the film also stars Vivek Oberoi and Kanchana, among others, adding to its ensemble appeal. Backed by T-Series, Spirit is being mounted on a grand scale, aligning with Vanga’s signature storytelling style and Prabhas’ Pan-India stardom.

Comedian and television star Kapil Sharma is expanding his brand beyond the screen with the opening of Kap’s Cafe in Dubai, bringing a slice of his signature humour and hospitality to the UAE just in time for New Year’s Eve. The eatery — inspired by the set and vibe of his popular Netflix series — is scheduled to welcome customers on December 31, 2025, offering fans and food lovers a chance to experience a themed space linked to Sharma’s entertainment empire.

Announcing the Kap’s Cafe launch on Instagram, Sharma shared a brief video that opens with the Dubai skyline before zooming in on the café’s inviting facade, where he is seen greeting a customer with a cup of coffee in hand. The eatery’s décor is expected to follow a cosy and visually engaging style similar to its counterpart in Surrey, Canada.

Reportedly, Kap’s Cafe will operate from 4 pm to 12 am on its opening day, and while its full menu for the Dubai branch remains under wraps, the Canadian location offers a mix of Indian and Western favourites — from vada pav and pasta to various coffees, teas and matchas — suggesting a diverse culinary experience ahead.

The Dhurandhar wave refuses to slow down and it has affected the collections as well as showcasing of other films as well like Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2, Avatar: Fire And Ash and the recently-released romcom, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri. Bollywood Hungama has reported how fights and disagreements arose over screen-sharing as Dhurandhar had an upper hand from the distributor and also the exhibitors. Ikkis, starring Agastya Nanda and the late Dharmendra, releases tomorrow and is the first release of 2026; however, it won’t have gone through such an ordeal, Bollywood Hungama has learned.

An exhibition source told us, “Ikkis is distributed by Jio Studios, which is also the distributor as well as the producer of Dhurandhar. Hence, they have no qualms now if Dhurandhar’s shows reduce since the Ranveer Singh-starrer has already done huge business. Moreover, it will enter into its fifth week on Friday, January 2. Accordingly, they have asked for around 30-40% showcasing for Ikkis.”

The source explained, “In cinemas with 2 screens, they have asked for 4 shows. In three-screen cinemas, they have requested for 6 shows and 8 shows in 4-screen multiplexes. In cinemas with 5 screens and more, they have made a request for 10+ shows. And that’s not all. In single-screens and 2-screen and 3-screen cinemas, they have instructed exhibitors not to have shows very early in the morning, possibly because Ikkis is a film that will not attract the audience early morning and would grow gradually by word of mouth.”

The source also said, “Lastly, the theatres have been instructed to sell tickets at regular weekend rates. Hence, the tickets of Ikkis will be available at reasonable prices.”

A trade expert commented, “Ikkis probably has more shows in a city like Mumbai than Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, though the latter had wider appeal as it was a romcom. The biggest advantage for Ikkis is that it has secured shows in those single screens where it can attract an audience. Until last week, such cinemas were only screening Dhurandhar.”

Bollywood Hungama went through the listings and observed that Dhurandhar’s shows have been halved from tomorrow – from 4 shows to 2 shows – in most single screens like Gold Cinema Santacruz, Chitra, Plaza, Roxy, Citylight, Star City, MovieTime Dahisar, Inox Nakshatra Dadar, PVR Le Reve, MovieTime Suburbia, Gold Cinema Dadar etc. Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri didn’t get shows in Gaiety and Galaxy, the biggest theatres of G7 Multiplex. It had to settle for shows in 228-seater Gemini and 105-seater Gossip. On the other hand, Ikkis will be played with 4-shows a day in the sprawling 819-seater Galaxy.

Several single-sceren theatres will play 2 shows of Dhurandhar, 2 shows of Ikkis and 1 show of the Marathi flick, Krantijyoti Vidyalay Marathi Madhyam. It stars Sachin Khedekar and marks the Marathi debut of Prajakta Koli.

Some single-screens across the country are expected to skip Ikkis as the distributors have gone for limited release. Also, theatres in certain mass-appealing pockets will continue to play Dhurandhar. Meanwhile, in a few single-screen theatres of Mumbai like Anand, Kasturba, Gold Cinema Borivali, Gold Cinema Thane, shows have been divided only berween Dhurandhar and Krantijyoti Vidyalay Marathi Madhyam, as per the tastes of their target audience.

The release of Mere Raho, the upcoming romantic drama starring Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi, has been postponed from its originally scheduled December 12, 2025, debut. The film — produced by Aamir Khan Productions — is now being earmarked for a summer 2026 release, with movers and shakers in the industry pointing to a July window as a preferred launch period.

Filming and post-production for Mere Raho wrapped earlier this year, completing principal photography by April 2025. The marketing responsibilities for the project were entrusted to Aamir Khan himself, who, according to trade sources, was instrumental in re-evaluating the release strategy.

A source told Mid-Day that the decision to shift the date was rooted in commercial pragmatism: “December is a high-pressure corridor.” The insider noted that the end-of-year calendar was dominated by heavyweight productions, including Dhurandhar and a major romantic comedy starring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, making it difficult for a content-driven romance like Mere Raho to secure a strong foothold at the box office.

“July offers better leg room for a film like Mere Raho. It needs time, repeat value, and controlled screen density,” the source explained, suggesting that the comparatively quieter summer corridor would allow the film to grow through word of mouth and sustained audience engagement.

The genre and cast — combining Sai Pallavi’s heartfelt screen presence with Junaid Khan’s rising star profile — make Mere Raho a sought-after summer option for urban audiences. The film, a Hindi remake of the 2016 Thai romance One Day, is directed by Sunil Pandey and marks a key milestone for Sai Pallavi, who is also generating buzz for her role in the 2026 mythological epic Ramayana.

An official release date for Mere Raho has not yet been announced, but close observers expect a formal announcement in the coming months as pre-release marketing ramps up.

Fresh developments are emerging around Farhan Akhtar’s highly anticipated action thriller Don 3 as Bollywood buzz intensifies regarding a change in the film’s lead casting. After widespread media reports suggested Ranveer Singh might be stepping away from the project, industry sources now indicate that Hrithik Roshan is being considered to take on the iconic role — though discussions are at an early stage.

Reportedly, the producers behind Don 3 have begun exploring possible replacements after the reported departure of Ranveer Singh from the film. While neither the makers nor the actors involved have issued official statements, an insider told Filmfare that Hrithik Roshan has emerged as a strong contender to headline the third instalment of the franchise.

The speculation follows recent industry chatter linking Ranveer’s possible exit from Don 3 to his career trajectory after the success of Dhurandhar. Initial reports suggested that Ranveer — who has been enjoying significant box office acclaim — might choose to focus on different creative avenues. However, the latest updates clarify that the situation around Singh’s association with Don 3 is less straightforward than early rumours indicated.

A Pinkvilla report highlights that Ranveer Singh did not quit Don 3 because of Dhurandhar’s success, debunking an often-repeated narrative in some corners of social media and entertainment press. Instead, the actor’s absence is being attributed to creative differences with the project’s team.

While the details surrounding negotiations and any potential disagreements remain unclear — and no official confirmation has come from Ranveer or the Don 3 team — industry observers note that creative divergences are a common occurrence in large-scale projects where multiple artistic visions must align.

The idea of Hrithik Roshan stepping into the Don universe carries its own resonance. Fans will recall that Hrithik appeared briefly in Don 2, when Shah Rukh Khan’s character adopted a disguise based on Roshan’s persona. That cameo has reportedly made him an attractive option for the franchise’s next chapter.

Moreover, Filmfare’s report points out that discussions involving Hrithik are still in early stages, and nothing has been finalised. The makers are being mindful that the lead actor stepping into Don 3 not only fills the shoes of past icons like Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan but also sustains the franchise’s legacy with a well-established star.

Don 3 — the third instalment in the iconic Don series originally launched by Farhan Akhtar — continues to be one of Bollywood’s most anticipated projects. While past reports earlier in 2025 confirmed Ranveer Singh’s casting alongside co-star Kiara Advani, production has faced hurdles, including casting changes and schedule adjustments.

As discussions evolve, industry watchers will be closely watching whether Hrithik Roshan’s name gains traction or if the Don 3 team settles in a different direction. With reports suggesting that Don 3 is still targeting an early 2026 start to production, any final casting decisions are expected to emerge in the coming weeks.

Ananya Panday has once again found herself at the centre of industry chatter, this time for a mysterious new shoot that has set fashion and luxury circles abuzz. While no official announcement has been made, sources close to the actress suggest that something significant may be brewing behind the scenes.

“There's growing intrigue around Ananya Panday's latest hush-hush shoot, with industry insiders hinting that she may be fronting a major new collaboration with a leading jewellery brand. Those close to the production describe the mood as distinctly ‘elevated and modern,’ featuring sleek lighting, reflective surfaces, and intimate, beauty-led close-ups—an aesthetic departure from Ananya's recent brand outings,” a source revealed.

The visual language of the shoot, coupled with tight confidentiality around the project, has only fuelled curiosity. According to insiders, the styling and overall mood appear to signal a more luxe, contemporary direction, sparking conversations about whether this could mark a defining moment in Ananya’s brand journey.

“While the team involved has remained tight-lipped, subtle styling cues and early behind-the-scenes whispers have sparked speculation within fashion and luxury circles. Some believe this could be her biggest jewellery partnership yet, possibly tied to a new-age collection aimed at younger audiences or maybe miss Pandey is launching her own brand!!?? Is this AP's latest bait to attract the Gen Z audience and jewellery divas. Well only time can tell!” the source added.

Though speculation is rife, those close to the development stress that nothing has been formally confirmed. However, the buzz surrounding the project has already ensured that all eyes are firmly on Ananya, with many keen to see whether this mystery shoot translates into a major luxury association or an entrepreneurial leap.

On the film front, Ananya Panday was recently seen reuniting with Kartik Aaryan in Tu Mera Main Teri Main Teri Tu Mera, which hit theatres on December 25. Looking ahead, the actress has Chand Mera Dil lined up alongside Lakshya and is also set to return as Bella in Call Me Bae 2. In addition, she is reportedly juggling a few unannounced projects, further underlining her busy slate.

Whether it’s a high-profile jewellery collaboration or something entirely unexpected, Ananya Panday’s latest move has undeniably captured industry attention, making it one of the most closely watched developments in the fashion and entertainment space right now.

2026 will begin on a patriotic and emotional note, thanks to Ikkis. It tells the story of Arun Khetarpal, who, at 21, became the youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra for the bravery he showed during the 1971 India-Pakistan war. It was originally scheduled for a release on December 25 and was pushed to January 1. With the Christmas release in mind, the makers of Ikkis completed the censor process on time. In this article, Bollywood Hungama will exclusively focus on this aspect.

To begin with, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) asked the makers to suitably modify the opening disclaimer and include the acknowledgement for Poona Horse Regiment, Colonel Hanuth Singh and the tank crew. The same was also to be communicated in a voiceover. This was followed by photographs of warriors and an introductory voiceover about Arun’s tank crew.

In the end credits, the makers were also asked to add a text with a voiceover. They also suitably modified the credits and added a full iconic image of a Lt. General as per the suggestion of a defence expert.

Due to the genre and realism of the subject, the makers submitted a consent letter from a member of the Khetarpal family and also proper documents for scenes based on true events.

Now, coming to the cuts. In the second half of the film, the name of a tank was asked to be deleted. Lastly, a 15-second dialogue about India-Pakistan relations was asked to be deleted. The CBFC members also asked the makers to blur the alcohol brand name and add anti-smoking static.

Once these changes were made, Ikkis was passed with a U/A 13+ certificate on December 15. The length of the film, as mentioned on the censor certificate, is 147.15 minutes. In other words, Ikkis is 2 hours, 27 minutes and 15 seconds long.

Ikkis stars Agastya Nanda, Jaideep Ahlawat, newcomer Simar Bhatia and the late Dharmendra.

The much‑anticipated fifth instalment of the Golmaal franchise is shaping up to be a fresh and bold entry in the popular comedy series, with new elements including a fantasy‑inspired tone and a female antagonist. Directed by Rohit Shetty, the upcoming film marks a new creative direction for the long‑running ensemble franchise that began with Golmaal: Fun Unlimited in 2006.

According to a report by PTI, Golmaal 5 will bring back the familiar team of mischief‑prone characters led by Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade and Kunal Khemu, with Sharman Joshi rejoining the cast this time — reviving a connection to the original film.

An insider told the news agency that the new chapter is more than just another comedic romp: “The fifth part is going to be a fantasy comedy.” This suggests that the film will blend the franchise’s signature humour with elements of fantasy or surreal storytelling, potentially raising the stakes beyond the prank‑filled situational comedy of earlier editions.

One of the biggest twists in Golmaal 5 is the plan to introduce the franchise’s first female villain. While casting discussions are reportedly still underway, makers have chosen to write the story in a way that places a woman in the negative role — breaking new ground for the series. “This story was written in a manner that the negative character is (played by) a woman,” the insider explained.

Alongside the core cast, familiar supporting actors such as Johnny Lever, Ashwini Kaleshkar, Mukesh Tiwari and Sanjay Mishra are also expected to return, ensuring that the distinctive comic flavour of the series is preserved.

Over nearly two decades, the Golmaal franchise has built a reputation for chaotic humour and quirky characters who find themselves in absurd situations. With Golmaal 5, the shift toward fantasy could broaden the film’s visual and narrative palette while keeping its heart in the same mischief‑driven comedy that audiences have enjoyed.

Saif Ali Khan has never shied away from speaking about his love for literature, and in a recent conversation with Esquire India, the actor offered rare insight into the books that have left a lasting impact on him—stories that are poetic, emotional, and deeply reflective of society and history.

Speaking about a novel that struck a particularly strong chord, Saif revealed that Black River by Nilanjana Roy is among his most cherished reads. Describing it as far more than a conventional crime novel, he said, “It’s kind of a police procedural murder mystery, but it’s also really emotional and kind of moving about the murder of a very young little girl.” The actor added that the story resonated with him so deeply that he went on to acquire the rights to the book.

“I love the story so much that I bought the rights to the book and we're trying to make a movie out of it,” Saif shared, while acknowledging that the adaptation process is taking time. He described the novel as “lyrical,” “dramatic,” and “really poetic, beautiful,” noting that its emotional weight extends beyond the mystery. Quoting the book’s description, he added, “It’s kind of like an ode to an India that might not exist anymore… quite an emotional piece as well.”

Saif also spoke about his fondness for ghost stories, particularly those rooted in strong literary tradition. One of his favourites is Japanese Ghost Stories by Lafcadio Hearn. Reflecting on the author’s life and writing, Saif said, “I love very well-written ghost stories,” before elaborating on Hearn’s journey from Ireland to Japan and his deep immersion in Japanese culture.

“He would retell famous Japanese ghost stories, but in this amazing, amazing poetic prose,” Saif noted, calling the collection one of his favourite books. For him, the appeal lies not just in the supernatural elements but in the emotional depth and literary elegance with which these stories are told.

Another book that left a strong impression on the actor is Pandora’s Jar by Natalie Haynes, which offers a feminist reinterpretation of women in Greek mythology. Saif described it as “a kind of feminist take on all the famous women in Greek myth and history,” including figures like Medusa, who have long been portrayed as monstrous through a male-centric lens.

Discussing Medusa in particular, Saif said, “She was a beautiful girl, and she was raped in this temple. And then she was punished for being raped in the temple… And she's viewed as a monster.” He added that this reframing of mythological narratives made a deep impact on him, concluding, “I've always felt something for her.”

Through these choices, Saif Ali Khan’s reading list reveals a clear pattern—stories that challenge dominant narratives, explore emotional truths, and offer layered perspectives on culture, history, and humanity.

Of late, the internet is afire with reports on Rajlumar Hirani’s 3 Idiots acquiring a sequel. When this writer approached the two principal players in 3 Idiots Aamir Khan and R Madhavan they individually declared they had no clue of this development.

Said Madhavan, “A sequel to 3 Idiots sounds great. But it also sounds far-fetched. All three of us Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi and I are much older now. Where do we go in the sequel? What are our lives like now? It is an interesting thought. But hardly conducive to a proper sequel. I would love to work with Raju Hirani again. But 3 Idiots again? I think that would be idiotic.”

Aamir Khan said that he is delighted by the thought of sequel to 3 Idiots. “We had so much fun making that film! My character Rancho is the most popular character I’ve played. People still talk about Rancho. So yeah, I’d love to do a sequel. But no one has approached me.”

One hopes this puts an end to the endless speculation on a sequel to a beloved film.

Anil Sharma went on a high with Gadar 2 (2023). A sequel to the all-time blockbuster Gadar – Ek Prem Katha (2001), the sequel, starring Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma, was also a record grosser. The filmmaker then followed it up with a family entertainer, Vanvaas (2024), starring Nana Patekar and Utkarsh Sharma. It didn’t work at the box office as expected, though it managed to touch the hearts of the viewers due to its subject and mass-appealing treatment. Exactly a year after Vanvaas, Anil Sharma is now all set to take his next film on floors, Bollywood Hungama has learned.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Anil Sharma’s next is titled Arjun Naga. It stars his son Utkarsh Sharma in the leading role. This would be Anil and Utkarsh’s fifth film together after Gadar – Ek Prem Katha, Genius (2018), Gadar 2 and Vanvaas.”

The source further said, “Just like other films of Anil Sharma, Arjun Naga will be a wholesome entertainer and will have action, emotion, comedy and drama in ample doses. And of course, it would also have a soulful and catchy soundtrack. Utkarsh will be presented in his massiest avatar to date and like never before. That’s not all. There are multiple antagonists in the film and Utkarsh will be shown fighting them.”

The source also said, “Anil Sharma’s biggest strength is that he knows the pulse of the audience. His films appeal not just to the multiplex audience but also to the masses and the lowest common denominator. Hence, his films are well-received across the country. Arjun Naga is on the same lines.”

The source said, “Besides Utkarsh, the rest of the casting is underway. Once things fall in place, Anil Sharma is expected to make an official announcement. The film is expected to go on floors in early 2026.”

Bollywood actor Harshvardhan Rane is being linked with the next chapter of the popular Shootout franchise, with multiple reports suggesting he may headline a new project titled Shootout in Dubai. While neither the makers nor Rane have officially confirmed the film, reports say plans are moving forward for the franchise’s first international instalment.

According to a Mid-Day report, Shootout in Dubai is envisioned as a fresh entry that takes the gritty crime series beyond Mumbai’s underworld and into a fictional crime narrative set against Dubai’s cosmopolitan backdrop. The film is said to be produced by Ektaa R. Kapoor in collaboration with veteran filmmaker Sanjay Gupta, who co-created the original Shootout films.

The Shootout franchise began with Shootout at Lokhandwala in 2007, a dramatized retelling of one of Mumbai’s most notorious police encounters, followed by Shootout at Wadala in 2013. Both films were produced by Kapoor and Gupta and built a reputation for stylized action rooted in real-life events.

The report indicates that multiple drafts of the script for Shootout in Dubai have been developed since 2021, with creators ensuring the screenplay retains the tense atmosphere and visceral impact that fans expect from the series. Unlike its predecessors, this edition is expected to be entirely fictional while still embracing the franchise’s signature action and dramatic intensity.

Rane’s association with such a project could mark a shift in his filmography. In recent years, he has become one of Bollywood’s more visible young leads, particularly after the re-release of Sanam Teri Kasam and the 2025 romantic drama Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat found commercial success.

At this stage, details such as the full cast, crew, and release timeline remain unverified. Neither the production house nor Harshvardhan Rane has released an official statement either confirming his role or the project’s progress. Fans and industry watchers will likely watch closely for future announcements or confirmations as the story develops.

2026 will kick off on a massy note for Akshay Kumar, as he’s all set to begin shooting for Anees Bazmee’s next entertainer. It has now emerged that the film will go on floors in the second half of January.

As per an Instagram post by Vickey Lalwani, the shooting will commence in Mumbai on January 19. Around two weeks ago, Anees Bazmee confirmed to Mid-Day that he is indeed reuniting with Akshay Kumar after Thank You (2011). He also said, “There is mutual love and respect between us. When I told him about this film, he was more than happy.”

A few days after this interview, it was reported that Vidya Balan will be paired opposite Akshay Kumar. Vickey Lalwani, in his post, revealed that he spoke to producer Dil Raju, who confirmed that Akshay and Vidya are indeed signed for the film.

It has been reported that the project is a remake of Sankranthiki Vasthunam (2025). Dil Raju told Vickey Lalwani that the Akshay-Anees film is not a remake per se and only the basic concept has been taken from the Venkatesh-starrer.

This project also marks Akshay and Vidya’s first on-screen collaboration in six years, following their successful work in Mission Mangal (2019).

Earlier, Bollywood Hungama reported that Anees Bazmee's next is expected to feature two prominent female characters, with Vidya playing one of the leads. While details about the second female role and storyline are still under wraps, insiders suggest it will balance humour, emotion, and strong character arcs, elements Bazmee and Akshay are both known for.

This film will be produced by Dil Raju’s banner, Sri Venkateswara Creations. Producer Sirish of this production house told Gulte at the recently concluded 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) that they plan to make a film with superstar Salman Khan and that it would be directed by Vamshi Paidipally, known for directing popular films such as Munna (2007), Brindavanam (2010), Yevadu (2014), Oopiri (2016), Maharshi (2019) and Varisu (2023).

Lastly, Sirish also confirmed that their esteemed production house will produce a film starring superstar Pawan Kalyan.

Sometime back, Bollywood Hungama broke the internet as it exclusively spoke to Kumar Mangat Pathak over Drishyam 3’s casting. The reputed producer complained of Akshaye’s unprofessionalism and also revealed that he plans to sue the Dhurandhar actor. He also confirmed that Jaideep Ahlawat has replaced Akshaye.

Kumar Mangat Pathak told Bollywood Hungama, “Drishyam is a very big brand. It doesn’t matter whether he is in the film or not. Now, Jaideep Ahlawat has replaced him. By the grace of God, we have got a better actor than Akshaye and most importantly, we have got a better person than Akshaye as well. I had produced one of the first films of Jaideep's career, Aakrosh (2010).”

The producer then said, “I have suffered losses because of Akshaye Khanna’s behaviour. I am going to take legal action. I have already sent him a legal notice; he’s yet to reply to it.”

Kumar Mangat Pathak revealed, “When Akshaye heard the script in his Alibaug farmhouse, he liked it so much that he told us, ‘Yeh Rs. 500 crore ki film hai. Maine life mein aisi script nahin suni hai’. He even hugged director Abhishek Pathak and the writer. Then, we had negotiations, after which we agreed on the fees. We even signed the agreement. He even got an advance while we paid the designer for his clothes. And then 10 days before his shoot, he declined to work on the film.”

The producer further stated, “He insisted that he would like to wear a wig. But Abhishek convinced him that it wouldn’t be practical, as it would result in continuity issues since Drishyam 3 is a sequel. He understood his point and agreed to let go of that demand. However, the chamchas around him advised him that he would look smarter if he donned a wig. So, he again requested the same. Abhishek relented and was even ready to discuss this point with him. But then, he informed us that he doesn’t want to be a part of the film at all.”

Kumar Mangat Pathak expressed astonishment over Akshaye’s demand for a wig. He said, “I was shocked. Drishyam 3 begins where Drishyam 2 ended. How can his character suddenly get hair? Is there any technology in the world that can grow hair within minutes?”

Since a few days, there have been reports that Akshaye Khanna is not a part of Drishyam 3. Bollywood Hungama also reported on the same on December 26, creating a stir online. Now, Drishyam 3’s producer Kumar Mangat Pathak has spoken exclusively to Bollywood Hungama to set the record straight. The reputed producer complained of Akshaye’s unprofessionalism and also revealed that he plans to sue the Dhurandhar actor. He also confirmed that Jaideep Ahlawat has replaced Akshaye.

Kumar Mangat Pathak began by saying, “We had signed an agreement with Akshaye Khanna. His fees also got locked after a lot of renegotiations from his side. He insisted that he would like to wear a wig. But (director) Abhishek Pathak convinced him that it wouldn’t be practical, as it would result in continuity issues since Drishyam 3 is a sequel.

Kumar Mangat Pathak added, “There was a time when Akshaye was nothing. That’s when I made Section 375 (2019) with him. Even then, so many people told us not to work with him because of his unprofessional behaviour. His energy on set is absolutely toxic. Section 375 got him recognition. Later, I signed him in Drishyam 2 (2022).  He has got all the big offers only after Drishyam 2. Uske pehle woh 3-4 saal tak ghar pe baitha hua tha.”

He remarked, “Also, it’s important to note that the Drishyam franchise is fronted by Ajay Devgn. Chhaava is a Vicky Kaushal film along with Akshaye. The same goes for Dhurandhar – it's Ranveer Singh’s film. If Akshaye does a solo film, it won’t even collect Rs. 50 crores in India. Forget the lifetime, if he thinks he has become a superstar, then he should try mounting a superstar budget film with some studio and see who greenlights his film with that kind of budget. Some actors do ensemble cast films and after those movies become big hits, they start thinking that they are the star. That’s exactly what has happened with him. He thinks he’s a superstar now. Success has gone into his head. He told us, ‘Dhurandhar is working because of me’. He needs to understand that multiple factors worked in favour of Dhurandhar.”

Kumar Mangat Pathak then revealed, “When he heard the script in his Alibaug farmhouse, he liked it so much that he told us, ‘Yeh Rs. 500 crore ki film hai. Maine life mein aisi script nahin suni hai’. He even hugged Abhishek and the writer. Then, we had negotiations, after which we agreed on the fees. We even signed the agreement. He even got an advance while we paid the designer for his clothes. And then 10 days before his shoot, he declined to work on the film.”

Kumar Mangat Pathak stated, “Drishyam is a very big brand.

The producer then said, “I have suffered losses because of his behaviour. I am going to take legal action. I have already sent him a legal notice; he’s yet to reply to it.”

Finally, Kumar Mangat Pathak expressed astonishment over Akshaye’s demand for a wig. He said, “I was shocked. Drishyam 3 begins where Drishyam 2 ended. How can his character suddenly get hair? Is there any technology in the world that can grow hair within minutes?”

The much-anticipated third instalment of the Drishyam franchise appears to be undergoing a significant casting shake-up. If industry buzz is to be believed, Akshaye Khanna has exited Drishyam 3, and the makers have roped in Jaideep Ahlawat as his replacement in the Ajay Devgn-led thriller.

Not too long ago, reports had hinted at possible issues between Akshaye Khanna and the makers of Drishyam 3. While there was no official confirmation at the time, the latest developments suggest that the actor has indeed stepped away from the project. Reports now claim that Jaideep Ahlawat, who has been receiving widespread appreciation for his performances in Pataal Lok Season 2 and The Family Man Season 3, has been finalised to take his place.

Akshaye Khanna has been enjoying a strong resurgence at the box office, thanks to back-to-back projects where he portrayed layered, grey characters. He was recently seen as Aurangzeb in Chhaava and followed it up with a pivotal role in the recently released Dhurandhar. The latter, in particular, has reportedly performed exceptionally well at the box office, drawing both critical acclaim and audience appreciation for Khanna’s performance. According to industry sources, this renewed success may have prompted the actor to revise his remuneration.

Insiders suggest that the differences between Akshaye Khanna and the Drishyam 3 team were primarily related to fees, along with certain creative disagreements. However, it is worth noting that neither the actor nor the filmmakers have issued any official statement addressing these claims so far.

With Jaideep Ahlawat now said to be on board, the makers seem keen on maintaining the franchise’s tradition of introducing formidable new characters. Akshaye Khanna had joined Drishyam 2 as IG Tarun Ahlawat, a character that was not part of the original film and played a crucial role in elevating the narrative stakes. Now it is believed that Jaideep’s character in Drishyam 3 is also likely to be introduced afresh, rather than being a direct continuation of Khanna’s role.

Given Jaideep Ahlawat’s track record of portraying intense, morally complex characters, expectations are high regarding how his presence could add a new dimension to the suspense drama. While an official announcement is awaited, this casting change has already sparked considerable curiosity around Drishyam 3, which remains one of the most awaited Bollywood sequels in the pipeline.

Mumbai doesn’t hand out its biggest “respect signals” casually. And when the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, one of the city’s most iconic, most visible landmarks, glows with a tribute, it instantly becomes more than just a birthday wish. It becomes a statement.

On the eve of Salman Khan turning 60 tomorrow (December 27), Being Human has put up a striking, larger-than-life salute at the Sea Link, turning the nightly skyline into a celebration of a man who has remained a constant in India’s pop culture for decades. In a city where stars come and go with Friday box office swings, Salman has built something rarer: longevity that feels personal to generations, across single screens, multiplexes, and now the social-media age.

What makes this moment especially notable is the venue itself. The Sea Link isn’t just a bridge—it’s Mumbai’s postcard, a symbol of the city’s pace and pride. Very few initiatives or messages get honoured in this manner at this location, and that scarcity is precisely what elevates the gesture. When a tribute appears here, it’s because it’s meant to be seen, remembered, and talked about by commuters, by fans, and by the city at large.

For Salman Khan, the tribute also fits the larger picture. Being Human has long been associated with philanthropy and public impact, and this Sea Link moment blends stardom with that identity: a reminder that beyond the superstar image is a brand and a presence that has extended into social work, youth aspiration, and cultural influence.

At 60, Salman Khan isn’t just being wished. He’s being showcased on Mumbai’s biggest canvas. And that, in itself, is an achievement very few ever receive.

Also, all eyes are now on Salman Khan’s next big-screen move. The superstar is set to headline Battle Of Galwan, and going by the buzz, the teaser is expected to drop on his birthday, making December 27 not just a landmark personal milestone, but also a date that could double up as the next major announcement moment for fans. If that teaser arrives as expected, it will be the perfect one-two punch: Mumbai’s skyline celebrating the man, and the man returning the love by unveiling a glimpse of what’s next.

The comic caper Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2, starring Kapil Sharma, managed to get a near-unanimous positive reaction from the audience. The film was appreciated for Kapil's performances and also for its jokes that landed well, a rarity in today's times. A few hours ago, the makers of the film announced that ‘its theatrical run was impacted by limited screen availability due to ongoing multiplex takeovers by other releases’. Hence, it’ll be withdrawn from cinemas and will be re-released in January 2026.

Bollywood Hungama spoke exclusively with Ratan Jain of Venus Worldwide Entertainment. He also categorically made it clear, “I am not blaming anybody. If the other film is working well, they would obviously not want to reduce their shows. Yeh unka haq hai. I am not blaming the multiplexes either, as they were justified in their stand. They will always support a big film or one that is excelling successfully.”

When asked about the exact date for the re-release in January 2026, Ratan Jain said, “By Monday or Tuesday, I’ll announce the date.”

Besides Kapil Sharma, Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 starred Manjot Singh, Hira Warina, Tridha Choudhary, Parul Gulati, Ayesha Khan, Akhilendra Mishra, Vipin Sharma, Sushant Singh, Jamie Lever, Smita Jaykar, Supriya Shukla and the late Asrani. Written and directed by Anukalp Goswami, it tells the story of a man who dreams of marrying his girlfriend. But he ends up marrying three women three times, while his girlfriend disappears.

Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 is presented by Star Studio18 and Venus Worldwide Entertainment in association with Abbas Mustan Films Production, and is produced by Ratan Jain, Ganesh Jain and Abbas-Mustan.

The original film, Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon (2015), was directed by Abbas-Mustan. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Anukalp Goswami said, “I expressed the desire to direct the film. They supported me fully…When the film went on floors, Abbas-Mustan and their brother and editor Hussain bhai (Hussain A Burmawala) were present. The trio told me, ‘Tujhe kisi cheez ki tension lene ki zaroorat nahin hai’. They also provided me with a great team. Thanks to these efforts, we were able to deliver a fine product.”

Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty has set social media abuzz with remarks hinting that Shah Rukh Khan could appear alongside Rajinikanth in the upcoming Tamil film Jailer 2, slated for a June 2026 release. In a recent interview, Chakraborty not only confirmed parts of the star-studded cast but also described his own role in the film, a sequel to Rajinikanth’s 2023 blockbuster Jailer.

While speaking with Siti Cinema, Chakraborty remarked that his next project was Jailer 2, “where everybody is against me.” He went on to list several prominent actors, saying, “Rajinikanth, Mohanlal, Shah Rukh Khan, Ramya Krishnan, Shiva Rajkumar, all their characters are against me.”

If true, this would mark the first time Shah Rukh Khan and Rajinikanth share screen space in a theatrical film. Though both superstars appeared in the 2011 movie Ra.One — in which Rajinikanth’s character Chitti from Enthiran was featured — they never directly acted opposite each other. Fans have been eagerly awaiting an official collaboration between the two icons, and Chakraborty’s comments have reignited excitement.

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures, Jailer 2 reunites Rajinikanth with his 2023 co-star Ramya Krishnan. Earlier reports and actor statements have also hinted at the involvement of other celebrated artists, including Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Vidya Balan and additional supporting cast members, suggesting a multi-layered narrative with several key characters.

Jailer 2 is expected to expand on the action and dramatic elements that made the first instalment popular. At the time of writing, there has been no official announcement from the Jailer 2 production regarding Shah Rukh Khan’s role.

A few days ago, the makers of Drishyam 3 announced that their highly anticipated film will be released on October 2, 2026. The press note mentioned the name of the leading actors of the film – Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Shriya Saran and Rajat Kapoor. Akshaye Khanna’s name was missing and it raised eyebrows. The actor is on a high after Dhurandhar and hence, fans were looking forward to seeing him in the next part of Drishyam, especially when he rocked the show in Drishyam 2 (2022). Meanwhile, reports emerged that he had walked out of the third part due to remuneration differences. Bollywood Hungama has now found more information about what led to his exit.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Akshaye was menacing as the villain in Chhaava, while he stole the show, and how, in Dhurandhar. He has become the next big thing. Realizing the same, he decided to revise his fees. Accordingly, he asked for Rs. 21 crores from the makers of Drishyam 3.”

The source continued, “The makers of Drishyam 3 were taken aback. They tried to reason with him that if he’s paid a bomb, the film would go over-budget. But Akshaye Khanna felt that he was justified in his demand. He knew that his presence now significantly enhanced the excitement for a film.”

Meanwhile, another source said, “We also heard that there were a few more fronts where Akshaye Khanna and the makers had a disagreement as well. One of them was that Akshaye suggested that he'd like to wear a wig. The makers were not comfortable with the idea, probably because he was without a wig in the second part.”

The earlier source then said, “Since Akshaye Khanna’s demands were not met, he decided to walk out of Drishyam 3. Of course, he wished the makers well. The parting happened on a good note and the makers hope to collaborate with Akshaye in future when they’ll be on the same page.”

Tiger Shroff and Lakshya are gearing up to shoot a major dance-off sequence for their upcoming film Lag Jaa Gale, with a large production number scheduled to be shot at Mukesh Mills in Colaba starting December 24, 2025. The sequence is being described by insiders, quoted by a Mid-Day report, as a full-scale dance battle designed to showcase contrasting performance styles between the two actors.

The report stated that choreographer Ganesh Acharya has crafted the routine, which involves over 100 professional dancers and is expected to be wrapped up by December 29. The beat-driven number is reportedly structured to highlight Tiger’s explosive, athletic dance approach alongside Lakshya’s more fluid and relaxed style, with rehearsals underway for the past three weeks.

The dance face-off adds a new layer of excitement to Lag Jaa Gale, a revenge action-drama produced by Dharma Productions and directed by Raj Mehta. The film also stars Janhvi Kapoor, with whom Tiger Shroff shares screen space for the first time in this project. Lag Jaa Gale is among the high-profile Hindi cinema releases lined up for 2026. Tiger’s commitment to intense choreography and physical performance has been a defining feature of his career.

Reportedly, the creative team is aiming for the dance-off sequence to stand out as one of the year’s most talked-about musical moments.

Ranbir Kapoor and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal is returning to theatres in a new market two years after its original release, with a Japanese release date now confirmed. The makers announced that the action drama will open in cinemas across Japan on February 13, 2026.

Production house Bhadrakali Films shared a specially designed poster for the Japanese audience on X (formerly Twitter), featuring Ranbir Kapoor’s intense portrayal of Ranvijay Singh, alongside a Japanese tagline that translates to “This man cannot be stopped.” The announcement highlighted the film as a memorable cinematic experience beyond its initial home market.

— Bhadrakali Pictures (@VangaPictures) December 24, 2025

Animal was originally released in India in December 2023 and became a significant commercial success. It earned around Rs 553 crores net domestically and approximately Rs 915 crores worldwide, finishing its initial run among the top-grossing Indian films of all time.

With the Japanese release, the film now has an opportunity to push its worldwide total closer to, or beyond, the Rs 1000 crores mark. This benchmark has taken on added significance as Dhurandhar—the Ranveer Singh–led thriller directed by Aditya Dhar—has overtaken Animal’s global tally and is expected to finish its run between Rs 1000 crores and Rs 1100 crores globally.

Indian films have shown promising returns in Japan in recent years. RRR reportedly grossed over ¥2.4 billion (about Rs 150 crores) there, while KGF: Chapter 2 also delivered strong box office returns. If Animal replicates similar performance, it could significantly bolster its global revenue.

Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Animal features Ranbir Kapoor alongside Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Triptii Dimri in pivotal roles. Though commercially successful, the film drew debate for its depiction of violence and themes critics labeled as problematic. Supporters, including the director, maintained that those elements were intentional aspects of creative expression.

Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, starring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, is all set to release tomorrow. The advance booking has picked up since Monday night and the romcom is all set to take a decent start at the box office. Interestingly, an interesting development has happened, probably for the first time ever, with Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri.

It’s generally understood that in most multiplexes, the front-row seats are priced the lowest, and the ticket rates steadily rise as you move towards the middle and back rows. But in the case of PVR Oberoi Mall Goregaon East, the unthinkable has happened. Here, you’ll have to shell out a higher price if you want to see the musical entertainer in the first three rows. But your ticket will be cheaper if you select the middle or the back rows!

For the 8:00 am and 10:45 am show of Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri on December 25, the first three rows, which come under the Classic category, are available for Rs. 370. But the Prime Class tickets are sold for Rs. 290.

For the 1:50 pm show of the film, Classic seats are sold for Rs. 430 while Prime Class tickets are available for Rs. 350. For the shows at 4:55 pm, 8:00 pm and 11:05 pm, one will have to shell out Rs. 540 for Classic seats and Rs. 460 for Prime Seats.

Interestingly, despite the tickets being in the front row and despite the higher rates, most of them are sold out or almost full. An exhibition source explained to Bollywood Hungama, “Since the tickets of the front row were fast-filling, the dynamic pricing came into play, and its rates went up.”

However, the exhibition source agreed, “This is unusual and probably happened for the first time ever as far as I remember.”

Chiranjeevi and director Bobby Kolli, who earlier collaborated on Waltair Veerayya, are all set to reunite for their second project together. Multiple sources reveal that Mohanlal will join Chiranjeevi for the first time in his career. The two legends have long expressed deep admiration for each other’s work and often meet socially whenever they are in the same city.

Surprisingly, no one has previously attempted to bring Mohanlal and Chiranjeevi together on screen, making this collaboration a historic first for Indian cinema.

Shedding more light on the project, a source reveals, “Chiranjeevi plays the lead, while Mohanlal makes a powerful entry midway through the film—much like Amitabh Bachchan’s iconic appearance in Andha Kanoon.”

Akshaye Khanna is currently enjoying a strong career resurgence, thanks to his power-packed performance in Dhurandhar. The actor has been widely praised for his restrained yet impactful screen presence, and the success of the recently released Ranveer Singh–starrer spy drama has firmly placed him back in the spotlight. Adding to this momentum, Khanna was also part of another blockbuster of 2025 — Chhaava as the lead antagonist— further consolidating his standing as one of the most reliable performers in the industry today.

With this renewed demand, it comes as little surprise that Akshaye Khanna has reportedly revised his remuneration. However, this fee hike may have had a ripple effect on one of the most anticipated films currently in production — Drishyam 3. For the unversed, Akshaye played a crucial role in Drishyam 2, the Hindi adaptation of the popular Malayalam thriller franchise led by Ajay Devgn and Tabu. His character added a significant narrative layer to the sequel, with audiences eagerly anticipating his return in the third installment.

However, according to a report by Bollywood Machine, the makers of Drishyam 3 were reportedly not prepared to meet Akshaye Khanna’s revised fee expectations. The report further claims that apart from financial negotiations, there may also be creative differences between the actor and the makers, which could have contributed to his reported decision to step away from the project.

That said, the situation may still be fluid. The same report suggests that this may not be a final call, as Akshaye Khanna is said to be in ongoing discussions with the makers to arrive at a mutually agreeable solution. Whether the actor ultimately continues with the franchise remains to be seen, but his involvement would undoubtedly add to the further intrigue surrounding the film.

Meanwhile, Drishyam 3 has already generated considerable buzz. Recently, the makers unveiled an announcement video featuring Ajay Devgn’s voiceover, teasing audiences about what lies ahead in the next chapter of the much-loved thriller. The film is being made simultaneously in Malayalam, with the original version expected to release first. The Hindi adaptation is slated to hit cinemas on October 2, 2026 — a date that holds special significance for the Drishyam franchise.

In addition to Ajay Devgn, Drishyam 3 will also star Tabu, Shriya Saran and Ishita Dutta in key roles. As fans await further updates, all eyes are now on whether Akshaye Khanna will return to the franchise that played a pivotal role in his recent cinematic journey.

Two days are left for the release of Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, starring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, and the excitement is slowly building up thanks to its fresh look, youthful appeal, music and casting. The advance booking of the film commenced over the weekend and in this article, Bollywood Hungama will inform readers about the demand put forward by Dharma Productions’ in-house distribution team in front of the single-screen theatres and multiplexes.

A trade source told Bollywood Hungama, “The team of Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri are aware that Dhurandhar is still unstoppable and will continue to find a huge audience on Christmas, when their film will arrive in cinemas. They also know that Avatar: Fire And Ash has taken up several shows and screens. Hence, they have asked for fair and modest showcasing, keeping in mind the realities.”

The source continued, “The distribution team of Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri has asked for a minimum of 2 shows in theatres with 1 screen. In 2-screen plexes, they have asked for 5 shows. Multiplexes with 3, 4, 5 and 6 screens need to play 6, 8, 12 and 14 shows a day, respectively. Lastly, for multiplexes with 7 screens and more, the team of the film have asked for 16 shows. This is the minimum number of shows that they have requested.”

The source then said, “Despite these fair demands, the team of the film is struggling to get the desired number of shows. As of 9:00 am on December 23, only theatres with 4 more screens and more have opened bookings, that too in just one screen. Single-screens and 2 and 3-screen cinemas are yet to commence ticket sales as negotiations are still going on. Thankfully, Avatar: Fire And Ash didn’t get a release in single screens and hence, these theatres need to divide shows only between Dhurandhar and the romcom. But even that is proving to be a challenge as the demand for Dhurandhar is just not subsiding even after 18 days. Moreover, both Dhurandhar and Avatar: Fire And Ash are more than 3 hour films. So in multiplexes, dividing shows between the three films will also prove to be a challenge.”

An industry insider commented, “We have seen distributors being unreasonable and forcing cinemas to give 100% showcasing to their films. Keeping that in mind, kudos to Karan Johar and his team for being reasonable and practical and not asking for too many shows. Also, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri features a rising star like Kartik Aaryan and it belongs to a genre that has a lot of takers. Hence, we hope that cinemas give this film a chance.”
