Emraan Hashmi is known not just for his supreme acting talent but also for his image of being a 'serial kisser'. Though it's been ages since he was last seen in a film with explicit intimate scenes, the 'serial kisser' tag continues to be associated with him. The actor played with this image smartly in The Ba***ds Of Bollywood, which dropped earlier today on Netflix.

The concept of an intimacy coach has become quite common in today's times. The Ba***ds Of Bollywood, which is based on the workings of the Hindi film industry, has touched upon this aspect. And funnily, it is none other than Emraan Hashmi playing the coveted part!

His entry is sudden and moreover, he plays himself. Hence, he suits the role completely. Moreover, his role has some interesting shades and it adds to the entertainment of the show. His scene with Raghav Juyal, especially, would be lapped up. Die-hard fans of Emraan Hashmi would surely be able to relate to it.

The Ba***ds Of Bollywood marks the debut of Aryan Khan. It is backed by Red Chillies Entertainment. Interestingly, this is the second time Emraan and Red Chillies have teamed up. The talented actor played the lead in Bard Of Blood. Incidentally, it was released exactly six years ago, and it also premiered on Netflix.

The Ba***ds Of Bollywood stars Lakshya, Bobby Deol, Sahher Bambba, Anya Singh, Raghav Juyal, Mona Singh, Vijayant Kohli, Manish Chaudhari, Rajat Bedi, Gautami Kapoor, etc. in crucial roles. As of now, it is said that the other actors to feature in cameos are Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, S S Rajamouli, Disha Patani, Karan Johar, Badshah, etc. Recently, a special number featuring Tamannaah Bhatia was unveiled by the makers. Yesterday, Bollywood Hungama exclusively broke the news that Arshad Warsi features in the show in a key role.

Actor Vidya Malavade, widely remembered for her role in Chak De! India, recently surprised her followers with an unusual revelation about her personal care routine. Taking to Instagram, Vidya shared that she has not used soap on her body for the past ten years. Instead, she follows a salt-and-water cleansing ritual, which she believes helps not just the skin but also in warding off negative energy.

In the video, Vidya explained her process in detail, saying, “I get a lot of nazar and this has helped me ward it off. I keep salt in my bathroom. Once you wet your skin take a spoonful of salt and add a few drops of water. Now apply this paste on your entire skin. Be aware of cuts and bruises. Step out of the shower for 30 seconds and say that affirmation mentioned in the caption. Now step into the shower and visualise the water washing the salt along with aches, pains, worries, anxiety, anger etc going down the drain. Salt is an energetic cleanser. It disintegrates heavy, low vibrational, negative, dirty energy. Do this every month for 10 days straight and then take a break. Because salt can dry your skin. Other days I use only water and it works perfectly okay. Read more details in the caption.”

Along with the video, she captioned her post as, “Shower Affirmation.. Step out of the shower for 30 seconds, and say Thank you for taking away any intentional and unintentional Nazar coming towards me and mine… And anything that doesn’t serve me! The visualisation is like a little meditation where you actually see & feel the dirty negative energy being cleared, going down the drain. You can also do this after a long tiring day, or when you met a lot of people, & want to clear that energy.”

Vidya further added that other days, one can simply use water with the same affirmation and visualization, since water itself carries high vibrational energy. She also pointed out that traditional cleansing practices like besan and ubtan with rose water were common in earlier times. While acknowledging the availability of several organic soaps today, Vidya candidly admitted, “Of course, there are lots of organic soaps available these days, but I don’t use them.”

Concluding her post, the actor engaged her followers by asking, “Have you tried this yet… and felt the difference? Or will you try it and let me know?”

Her unconventional wellness practice has now sparked conversations online, drawing curiosity from many who are intrigued by her decade-long soap-free lifestyle and her emphasis on energy cleansing through natural rituals.

Jolly LLB 2 (2017) opened at Rs. 13.20 crores and trade experts are hoping that the first day collections of the third part, set to release this week, go past this number.

Trade veteran Taran Adarsh said, “It should ideally open in double digits. Fingers crossed.” Girish Johar, producer and film business analyst, predicted, “I think Rs. 8-10 crore is achievable on the first day of release.”

On the other hand, trade analyst Atul Mohan said, “It should open around Rs. 15-16 crores. It’ll definitely open at Rs. 12 crores plus for sure. The marketing has been aggressive and smart. Also, it’s a film for both single-screen and multiplex audiences. The topic this time also seems to appeal to everyone and moreover, it looks like a family-friendly flick. The director, Subhash Kapoor, is also sensible.”

He further added what goes in favour of the film, “It’s a successful franchise; both the earlier films were hits. It's light-hearted; there hasn’t been such a film in a long time. Nothing has really worked in the last few weeks, and this would prove to be an advantage. And this is what the public wants. Moreover, the combo of Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi is zabardast.”

Distributor and exhibitor Raj Bansal also noted, “The strengths of the film are not just Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi but also Saurabh Shukla, who plays the judge. He’s very popular among the audience. The day before yesterday, I was sitting with 14-15 people in a restaurant. The topic veered towards Jolly LLB; many of them strongly recalled the first part. They were laughing loudly just thinking about the scenes of that film. It shows that the film is all set to have a good opening.”

He continued, “I am looking at an opening of around Rs. 12-15 crores. Whoever I am talking to wants to go and see this film. If the film opens well and word of mouth is positive, then the weekend collections can be very strong. Moreover, there’s no major release until October 2.”

All trade experts agreed that Jolly LLB has a shot at Rs. 100 crores. Jolly LLB 2 had managed to cross the coveted mark, collecting Rs. 117 crores in its lifetime. Atul Mohan said, “If the film opens well, half the battle is already won. So, yes, it can collect Rs. 100 crores in its lifetime.”

Girish Johar exulted, “Anything is possible in today’s times. Saturday can be double of Friday, while Sunday can be triple of Sunday. Monday earnings can be more than those of Friday. The recent Marathi release, Dashavatar, is performing on the same lines; its Monday collections are double that of Friday. The content has to click with people. Jolly LLB 3 can go on the same lines.”

Taran Adarsh stated, “The sky is the limit. In today’s times, Rs. 100 crore is not a barometer for success or failure. I am sure the cost of Jolly LLB 3 is on the higher side. I have immense trust in the brand and also in the director. I have seen his very first film, Say Salaam India (2007). It was a very well-made flick. He is a very talented storyteller. Hence, I feel this film should cement that status.”

He also made an important observation, “The box office is very different now. Saiyaara opens at Rs. 20 crores and War 2, a bigger film from the same production house, doesn’t really open that well. And then there’s a film like Mahavatar Narsimha that comes out of the syllabus and impacts the business of even Saiyaara. This week, the Japanese anime film opened bigger than all the other films of the week. Hence, the box office can catch you unawares at times.”

In a shocking development, PVR Inox, the largest multiplex chain of India, has put the advance booking of the big release this Friday, Jolly LLB 3, on hold. The exact reason is not yet known though sources claim that the makers are asking extensive programming and the multiplex chain hasn’t agreed to it. Nevertheless, it has sent shockwaves across the industry, trade and even a section of moviegoers.

The bookings started getting suspended from the evening of September 17. At the time of writing this article, at 8:00 am of September 18, the ticket sales of Jolly LLB 3 continue to be on hold. Barely a few screens of PVR Inox in India are still selling tickets but a majority of them have stopped. Many of them have opened plans for the weekend; however, Jolly LLB 3 can’t be seen in the schedule though it's clear that a screen or two have been kept blocked for the courtroom drama.

The good news for the fans is that the team of Star Studuo18 and PVR Inox are determined to get a solution to this matter. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “A meeting will be held between the two parties on Thursday at 10:00 am. We are all hoping that all the issues between them are resolved amicably. Once that happens, bookings in PVR Inox are expected to commence immediately.”

Jolly LLB 3 stars Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi, Saurabh Shukla, Huma Qureshi and Amrita Rao. Directed by Subhash Kapoor, it is a part of a very popular franchise and hence, it is highly awaited. A senior trade analyst summed up the industry’s mood, saying, “This is not just about one film. Disruptions like this shake audience confidence and impact overall footfalls. With a film like Jolly LLB 3, which has strong demand, a quick resolution is crucial.”

All eyes are now on Thursday’s 10:00 am meeting between StarStudios18 and PVR Inox. If negotiations go smoothly, ticket sales could resume in no time, giving fans the chance to secure their seats for one of the most anticipated courtroom dramas of the year.

The conscience of Indian cinema: Shabana at 75… Mahesh Bhatt reflects on a journey that began with Arth and celebrates the woman whose generosity and artistry remain unmatched. As told to Subhash K Jha

How do you begin to tell the story of a girl who became the heartbeat of India’s parallel cinema? Shyam Benegal, one of our greatest filmmakers, discovered her. She was born into the home of Kaifi Azmi and Shaukat Azmi, where poetry and theatre were daily bread, and where legends like Saeed Jaffrey often walked through the door. She was shaped further at the Film and Television Institute of India, where craft met conviction. From there, Shabana Azmi walked straight into history.

I do not think of age when I think of Shabana. I think of a young woman whose eyes could silence a hall full of people. I remember Metro Cinema in Bombay, with its 1100-plus seats, and that unforgettable song from Arth — Koi Yeh Kaise Bataye. My DOP, Pravin Bhatt, lit her in such a way that her gaze spoke louder than the lyrics. It pierced through the darkness of the theatre, and every heart in that hall heard it. That gaze still lingers in the consciousness of the nation.

But Arth was not just a film. It was a rebirth for me. Without Arth, where would I be? Without Shabana and me, where would Arth be? What sets Shabana apart is not only her staggering talent but her generosity. In an industry often consumed by rivalry, she went out of her way to lift others. She would bring clothes from her own wardrobe to dress Smita Patil — her so-called competitor — because she believed in the dignity of the scene above all else. Generosity is the hallmark of a great artist, and Shabana has it in abundance.

At 75, she remains a reservoir of untapped emotions, an ocean still roaring beneath the surface. It is not she who needs to prove herself anymore — it is we, as filmmakers, who must dare to tap into that vast pool of talent. Happy Birthday, Shabana. You are not just an actress. You are the conscience of Indian cinema. You are, and will always remain, a national treasure.

Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani's reunion on the Dadasaheb Phalke biopic created a stir like never before. And why not? Two stalwarts are teaming up for the third time after cults like 3 Idiots and PK. But we have some disappointing news for all the fans of this duo. According to very reliable sources close to the actor, the Dadasaheb Phalke Biopic has been put on hold.

A source informed Bollywood Hungama on anonymity, "Aamir Khan heard the script of Dadasaheb Phalke from Rajkumar Hirani and Abhijat Joshi. He felt that the script didn't have enough elements to make for a theatrical watch. He expected Raju and Abhijat to have a typical approach of mixing laughter with emotion and drama. But the script was devoid of comedy. This raised a doubt in the mind of Aamir, and he requested Raju to rewrite the script and come back."

The source tells us further, "Raju and Abhijat were shocked by Aamir's reaction, and are now figuring out what to do next. The film, which was to start in the month of October 2025, is no longer on track to go on floors next month. Things are on a standstill at the moment, and Aamir has already started to hunt for more scripts. He is hearing subjects from all across the industries."

His hunt for the next continues, as both Rajkumar Hirani and Lokesh Kanagaraj film seem to be on the back burner for now.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan is gearing up for his much-anticipated debut in the industry. Unlike his father, who won hearts with his charm and infectious smile, Aryan is making his entry not as an actor but as a director with his show The Ba**ds of Bollywood. Even before his official debut, Aryan has already become a sensation on social media, with fans often drawing comparisons between him and SRK. While admirers frequently gush over his good looks and striking resemblance to his father, many have noticed one peculiar thing Aryan rarely smiles in front of the camera.

Now, actor and dancer Raghav Juyal, who plays a pivotal role in Aryan’s directorial debut, has spilled the beans on this mystery. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Raghav said, “He has a phobia of smiling in front of the camera. He won’t smile in front of the camera, usko bahot pasand hai attitude mein rehna. But, with us he makes faces as well. He has a very childlike energy in him. But, camera ke saamne uski aadat hai, jo mujhe bahot achcha lagta hai aur ladkiyon ko bhi.”

Raghav went on to reveal how he often teases Aryan about breaking this habit. “Maine usko bola hai ke main ek din hasaunga zaroor camera ke aage, he said ‘no no bro don’t do that’. Toh jab bhi mujhse milta hai, main usko bolta hu hasunga main tujhe pakka.”

Interestingly, while Aryan is hardly ever spotted smiling in his public appearances, a recent video shared by Shah Rukh Khan showed a rare glimpse of his cheerful side. In the clip, Aryan was seen smiling wide while collaborating with Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh for the song ‘Tenu Ki Pata.’ The track also marked Aryan’s singing debut, surprising fans with yet another talent from the young Khan.

Meanwhile, in The Ba**ds of Bollywood, Raghav Juyal essays the role of the main lead, Lakshya’s best friend. With Aryan stepping behind the camera for his first major project, fans are eagerly waiting to see how the young filmmaker carves his niche in the world of cinema, carrying forward the legacy of Bollywood’s biggest superstar.

Helmed by Aryan Khan as writer and director, the series is produced by Gauri Khan under the Red Chillies Entertainment banner. A satirical take on Bollywood, it features Lakshya and Sahher Bambba alongside Bobby Deol, Raghav Juyal, Anya Singh, Mona Singh, Gautami Kapoor, Manoj Pahwa, Rajat Bedi, and Manish Chaudhari in prominent roles. The show also includes cameo appearances by Badshah, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Karan Johar, and Ranveer Singh.

When Paul Thomas Anderson calls, you don’t ask questions—you just show up. That’s exactly how Benicio Del Toro describes his decision to join the director’s latest film, One Battle After Another. “Three letters. P T A,” Del Toro said in an exclusive conversation. “When Paul Thomas Anderson calls and says, ‘I got a script, and I got a part that I want you to play.’ Before I read it, I was in. Simple as that.”

Del Toro takes on the role of Sensei Sergio St. Carlos, a karate instructor whose life becomes entangled with that of Bob (Leonardo DiCaprio), a desperate father searching for his missing daughter, Willa. For Del Toro, the role offered the chance to play a character with both grit and grace.

“Sensei is a karate instructor of Willa, who is the daughter of Bob,” he explained. “And when the shit hits the fan and Willa disappears, Leo’s character comes to get help from Sensei to try and help him find her. Basically, Sensei helps Bob to get from point A to point C in his journey to reunite with his daughter. Sensei provides protection and transportation for Bob while at the same time juggling with his own situation. Allowing Bob and us to peep into Sensei’s world. One could say that for a moment, Sensei becomes Bob’s guardian angel. He sacrifices himself to allow Bob to continue his journey to find his daughter.”

Del Toro hinted that Sensei’s role in the narrative carries an almost spiritual weight, balancing between guide and protector. It’s a turn that’s bound to resonate with audiences, particularly because it shows the layers beneath the action-thriller surface.

For Del Toro, saying yes to Anderson wasn’t just about reuniting with an old friend in cinema but about joining a project that combines action, emotion, and moral complexity. “Sometimes a role isn’t just about fighting or surviving—it’s about what you’re willing to give up so someone else can,” Del Toro said. “That’s where the heart of Sensei lies.”

One Battle After Another releases on September 26, 2025.

Bollywood actor, model, and fitness icon Malaika Arora has opened up about the many judgments she has faced throughout her life for her work, her appearance, and her personal life. In a candid conversation with Hindustan Times, she revealed how labels like “too bold” or “too outspoken” followed her career until she decided to refuse to live by others’ expectations.

Malaika said, “It was tough because people love to tell you what you should or shouldn’t be. I was judged for my career, my clothes, my relationships you name it. But the day I stopped explaining myself was the day I felt free. My biggest takeaway? The only narrative that matters is the one you write for yourself.”

She described how, for years, societal norms attempted to confine her from what she wore to who she associated with. But now, she claims, she wears those criticisms “like a crown.” As she puts it: “I’ve been called too bold, too outspoken, too everything. And honestly? I wear it like a crown now. If I’m “too much” for someone, they’re probably not enough for me.”

Malaika has translated her journey into her professional work as well. In her latest campaign with cosmetics brand HYUE, titled Own It, she said, “Whether in fashion, fitness, or just the choices I’ve made, I’ve never followed a formula. I’ve always believed that real confidence comes when you stop performing for the world and start living for yourself.”

She added, “It (the association) felt like they were telling my story through beauty. I’ve had to fight labels, opinions, and expectations all my life. So Own It isn’t just a tagline to me – it’s my lived reality.”

Yet, despite her public confidence, she admits she also faces periods of uncertainty. “Self-doubt is human—it never really disappears. There are days when I question myself, just like anyone else. But over the years, I’ve learned to meet those moments with kindness rather than criticism,” Malaika confesses. And she added, “Confidence, for me, isn’t about never doubting—it’s about moving forward with grace despite it.”

Over the years, Bigg Boss has become one of the most talked-about reality shows on Indian television, with celebrities often revealing that they were approached to participate. Actress Tanushree Dutta is the latest to make such a revelation, stating that she has been approached for the show repeatedly over the last 11 years.

In an interview with Bollywood Thikana, Tanushree confirmed that she declined the offer this year as well, despite being offered a substantial amount. “Do you really think I would go to a show like that? I can’t stay in a place like that; I don’t even stay with my own family. I was never interested in Bigg Boss and will never be. They have offered me Rs 1.65 crore to be a part of the show. There’s another Bollywood celebrity at my same level who was paid the same amount. I’ve received a call from the Bigg Boss stylist too, who requested me and said she would take care of my diet. I said even if they give me a piece of the moon, I wouldn’t go,” she said.

Explaining her reasons, Tanushree spoke about her need for privacy and comfort. “Men and women sleeping in the same hall, they sleep there, fight there… I can’t do that. I am very specific about my diet depending on my energy. Do I seem like the kind of woman who will sleep on the same bed with a man for a reality show? I’m not that cheap. My privacy is valuable to me. I know I can earn more than that if they let me work in peace,” she added.

Meanwhile, Bigg Boss 19, hosted by Salman Khan, is currently streaming on JioCinema and airs on Colors TV with a slight delay. After two weeks without eliminations, the third weekend special episode witnessed a double elimination, adding fresh twists to the season.

Filmmaker Ajay Bahl’s Section 375 recently completed six years. The film starred Rahul Bhat in the role of a filmmaker accused of a sexual crime. On the film’s anniversary, he got talking to us about his experience of doing the film in an interview.

Ajay Bahl’s rare film on the MenToo movement in which you played a victim of a false sex offence case, is now 6

It’s hard to believe Section 375 completes six years. That film changed me, it made me dig deep into a very layered character and confront difficult truths about consent and power. Even today, people come up to me and say the film made them think, argue, even fight about right and wrong. That’s exactly what we wanted to do - start a conversation.

It is hard to believe the film actually got made

I will always be grateful to producer Kumar Mangat and director Ajay Bahl and the team for trusting me with such a bold story. For me, Section 375 wasn’t just a role, it was a responsibility, and I’m proud it continues to stay relevant.

Do you feel the MenToo movement got smothered by the MeToo movement?

I do feel that the #MenToo conversation never got the space it deserved. The moment anyone spoke about false accusations or misuse of laws, it was seen as undermining the larger cause of women’s safety, which was never the intention. For me, #MenToo was never about discrediting genuine survivors of assault. It was about acknowledging that justice should be fair to everyone, regardless of gender. There are real victims on both sides, women who face harassment, and men whose lives are destroyed by false accusations. Section 375 tried to show exactly that that the law can be misused, and that we must talk about both justice for survivors and safeguards for the innocent.

Where would you place Section 375 among your films?

If I had to place Section 375 in my career, I’d put it somewhere in the top. Rohan Khurana made me fearless. It taught me to embrace the grey and never shy away from uncomfortable stories.

Why are more such films not made?

Because we’re scared, scared of offending, scared of backlash, scared of losing box office numbers. Films like Section 375 are rare because they make people uncomfortable, and discomfort isn’t always good for business. But that’s exactly why such films matter. Cinema’s job, at its best, is to hold up a mirror and make us reflect. Good cinema should do more than just entertain; it should make us think. Section 375 proved that audiences are ready for uncomfortable truths. It’s the film industry that needs to catch up.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued summonses to former Trinamool MP and actor Mimi Chakraborty and Urvashi Rautela in connection with its investigation into the alleged illegal operations of the online betting platform 1xBet, as per a report by NDTV.

Chakraborty has been asked to appear at the ED’s Delhi headquarters on Monday, while Rautela is to report a day later on Tuesday.

This development forms part of an ongoing probe into several betting apps accused of defrauding large numbers of people and investors of crores of rupees, and allegedly evading substantial taxes.

Specifically, Chakraborty is expected to be questioned about her alleged connections with 1xBet, which is under scrutiny for possible money laundering and tax evasion. ED investigators have already questioned several actors and cricketers in relation to the case, including cricketer Suresh Raina.

Meanwhile, government sources say the market for real money online gaming and betting has been subject to increasing regulatory pressure. The Union government has recently introduced legislation banning such gaming, while it disclosed to Parliament that between 2022 and June 2025, it issued 1,524 orders to block online gambling and betting platforms.

Analysts estimate there are about 22 crores Indian users of various online betting apps, of which roughly half 11 crores are regular users. They say the sector is valued at over USD 100 billion, growing at a rate of about 30% annually.

Bobby Deol has openly reflected on a period in his career when he felt that his choices had taken a toll on his progress and revealed he resorted to acting classes during the times when “he did not have any work”.

The actor, who received widespread acclaim for his performance in Animal, discussed these setbacks during an interview at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). He said, “Today, I have become more brave and fearless. I have moved away from what my image used to be. The web shows I acted in were very helpful in this regard. In between when I did not have any work, I took acting classes. I asked myself why did my career have a good start? That’s because people saw something in me. However, because of my wrong choices, my career suffered. I worked on regaining faith in myself as well as being disciplined. If you are disciplined, you can put more effort into your work without feeling the pressure.”

Deol also addressed typecasting: “In this industry, one tends to get typecast. It is tough to break that mould. OTT gave me that chance to come out of it. Playing an antagonist character and getting appreciation is something I had not imagined. However, every antagonist has to be different, be it my character in Aashram or Animal.”

Following Animal, Bobby has been active. He is set to feature in The B***ds of Bollywood, the directorial debut of Aryan Khan (son of Shah Rukh Khan), and in Bandar, an Anurag Kashyap film that had its world premiere at TIFF.

Originally launching his career as a lead in the 1995 romantic film Barsaat, Bobby Deol has since appeared in films like Soldier, Badal, Gupt, Race 3, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, and Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyo, among others.

Filmmaker Danish Renzu’s Songs Of Paradise recently started streaming on Prime Video. The film is inspired from the life of Kashmir’s celebrated singer Raj Begum. Veteran actress Soni Razdan plays the elderly version of the character in the movie. She spoke about the film and her experience of shooting it in an interview with us.

It is good to see you back on screen in Songs Of Paradise. How did the director Danish Renzu convince you? Thank you. Danish discussed this film with me I think before he even wrote the script. Like most people who don’t live in Kashmir, I had not heard of Raj Begum the singer. I said I have to do this role even before I read a script. It just sounded very fascinating.

Did the film live up to your expectations? It has been an honour for me to be a part of this film and to hopefully bring Kashmiri music out of the closet and into the world.

Was it a responsibility portraying Kashmir’s first recorded female singer? Yes, I felt a huge sense of responsibility. As I had never met Raj Begum I had to imagine her character, but at the same time, make sure that I somehow remain true to the iconic figure that she was. Well, I hope I’ve done some small justice to her character.

This is not the first time you play a Kashmiri woman I have never lived in Kashmir, and I have no family there but somehow I have always felt a strong connection to Kashmir and the problems people face there. Strangely, it is work that has taken me back there time and again since I did Raazi in 2018. Danish Renzu has been hugely instrumental in that. We’ve done some beautiful music videos together, shot in Kashmir, about Kashmir.

How will Paradise Lost be Paradise Regained in Kashmir? There is only one way the lost paradise can be regained and that is that some agreement needs to be reached, so that terrorism comes to an end. Things had improved so much, but it’s a constant battle to keep the peace and to keep things humming along in the valley. I am not a politician or an expert on the subject, so I can’t really comment further. But when I visited recently and spoke to people, they were all heartbroken about that terrible incident (Pahalgam attacks). Tourism has come to a grinding halt. It is extremely sad.

Why are you not seen more often on screen? Honestly, it’s not like I am rejecting roles left right and centre. If you want to see me more often, then I guess people will have to offer me more work!

After a successful 50-day theatrical run, Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara, starring debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, arrived on Netflix on September 12, 2025. Just a day later, filmmaker Hansal Mehta took to social media to share his thoughts on the film, calling it a reminder of why Bollywood love stories once worked so beautifully.

In a candid note, Mehta wrote, “I don’t necessarily watch the kind of films I make. Or only the kind of films that people presume I would like. I am no cinema snob. That would make life so boring. So here go my thoughts on a film I watched really late last night — thanks to jet lag.”

Praising the film’s emotional depth, Mehta highlighted how Saiyaara struck the right balance with its storytelling elements: “Get the emotions right. Get the music right. Get the timing, the quantity. Get the lead pair right. Ahaan Pandey and Aneet Padda are just that — young, fresh, utterly watchable. You simply cannot look away. The real ‘a star is born’ unfolds here as you watch the young man stride gracefully and the lovely girl emote so effortlessly.”

Mehta also appreciated Suri’s treatment of Alzheimer’s in the narrative, describing it as more of a metaphor than a medical condition: “A device for conflict, drama, and memory. Suspension of disbelief at its best. The dialogues, the cinematography, the well-directed scenes are all cloaked in a rare emotional maturity. You care about these leads, you want them to find their way back.”

While he pointed out some shortcomings — including unconvincing secondary roles and an underdeveloped father–son track — Mehta emphasized that the heartfelt love story and Mohit Suri’s signature music lifted the film: “Yes, the secondary parts are unconvincing, the father–son relationship undercooked. But the heartfelt love story overwhelms it all. And the music! Mohit pours his soul into every note. You can feel it.”

A post shared by Hansal Mehta (@hansalmehta)

Concluding his review, Mehta lauded the film’s ability to evoke classic Bollywood emotions: “Love here comes with the spectacle, the fanfare, the teary eyes, the energy and yet, the hold, the pause. Nobody does it better than Mohit Suri. By the end, you’re not sure what exactly worked. But it did. Big time. You smile, you hum, you get misty-eyed, you relive young, vulnerable love. And really, what more does a love story need?”

For the unversed, Saiyaara was released in theatres on July 18, 2025, and turned out to be the second-highest-grossing Hindi film of 2025.

Divya Khossla plays a pivotal role in producer Prerna Arora’s upcoming saga Jatadhara. Before that film hits the theatres, Divya’s Ek Chatur Naar released yesterday. Prerna spoke highly about Divya as an artist and a person in an interview with us.

You are very close to Divya Khossla Divya is both a friend and a force. And now I’m thrilled to cheer her on as she headlines Ek Chatur Naar—a bold and defining step that reflects her fearless instinct as an actor. Divya is playing a long-time player, and I’m proud to be part of this chapter and the next.

She makes very unconventional choices as an actor She’s that rare mix—director-producer turned leading lady—who keeps raising the bar with every choice. From the mainstream josh of Satyameva Jayate 2 to the emotional graph in Yaariyan 2, and most recently the grit she brought to Savi, her evolution is undeniable.

She is the heroine in your supernatural thriller Jatadhara When I saw the prep she did—right down to immersing herself in real locations for character work—I knew I had to bring that fire into Jatadhara. As Sitara in our film, she adds scale and soul.

The two of you represent girl power in the Hindi film industry There should be many more Divya Khosslas in our industry, a wife, a mother, a successful director and an actor. As for me, I am slowly getting there.

Rana Daggubati is one of the producers of the upcoming Tamil period film Kaantha along with Dulquer Salmaan, who also plays the lead. The movie, currently in the post-production stage, is set to release later this year.

In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Hungama, Daggubati, while speaking about the film, was all praise for Dulquer. He said, “Dulquer and I have been friends for, maybe, two decades now. It’s amazing that we got to get together on Kaantha. It’s because of Selva (Selvamani Selvaraj), the filmmaker, that we found a story that was very honest and truthful. It captures the milieu of the 1950s very beautifully in a human story.”

Raggubati believes the film couldn’t have been made without Dulquer. “Still early on to tell but I think if it wasn’t Dulquer, I don’t know who else would have pulled this off,” he said.

Rana Daggubati is also excited as his SS Rajamouli directed magnum opus Baahubali will be releasing in theatres as a five-hour version of both the movies in the series on October 31. It is titled Baahubali: The Epic. “I think the beauty of Baahubali is the fact that it hasn’t dated even now,” he said. “It’s so relevant and cool. From the time we put out the teaser and trailers out, people got very excited, like it was a (new) release itself.”

On what one can expect from Baahubali: The Epic, Daggubati added, “This time in the theatres you will get to see a version that the audience has never seen before. It has two parts together, re-cut and re-mastered by Rajamouli. We got to see it, we were very excited for the audience to get a glimpse of it.”

Ever since the release and the subsequent success of both the Baabubali movies, Rana Daggubati and Prabhas have acquired the tag of ‘Baahubali actors’. When asked whether he is happy with such a tag, Daggubati said, “Well, anybody who is associated with Baahubali will be happy about it. I think Baahubali is something that even the audiences are happy if they are associated with watching it. So yes, it’s always a great honour.”

Debut filmmaker Anuparna Roy, winner of the Orizzonti Award for Best Director at the 82nd Venice Film Festival for her film Songs of Forgotten Trees, has defended her remarks on Palestine amid growing controversy, and revealed that noted filmmaker Anurag Kashyap had advised her against speaking on the subject.

Speaking to ANI, Roy said, “I meant whatever I said at the festival. It was said with the intention of pointing out the injustice around the world. If I support Palestine, if I am standing against injustice, it doesn't make me less Indian. People are thinking that I have spoken about it for the first time, but it's not that. I mentioned Palestine while receiving an award in Russia. This doesn't mean that I will not talk about the genocides or the violence in Nepal.”

She added, “I request everyone to celebrate the achievement and not 'politicise' it in such a manner. I don't represent anything.”

Roy also described being discouraged from making such remarks. “People are claiming that I made the comments under the influence of Anurag Kashyap, but I was strictly advised by my producers, my mentor, and Anurag Kashyap himself that I don't need to talk about it. I went beyond their advice and said it all. Now I understand why they asked me to avoid it. Things have been going completely against me. People are even calling me a traitor. But I am not angry at all. I made one film and I will make another one,” she said.

She added, “I will continue to speak against injustice. I believe such things should come into discussion, whether it is Kashmir, Murshidabad, or Gujarat.”

Regarding her acceptance speech at Venice, Roy stood firmly by her stance: “Every child deserves peace, freedom, liberation and Palestinians are no exception... It's a responsibility at the moment to stand by Palestine.... I might upset my country, but it doesn't matter to me anymore.”

Songs of Forgotten Trees was the only Indian film in Venice’s Orizzonti section, exploring the lives of two migrant women in Mumbai as they deal with loneliness, survival, and fleeting connections.

When two fashion-forward stars step out in the same designer outfit, comparisons are inevitable. This time, Malavika Mohanan and Alia Bhatt found themselves in a friendly fashion face-off, both opting for a striking Gucci look that blends structure with understated glamour.

Malavika Mohanan’s Take Malavika made a confident statement in the all-Gucci ensemble. She styled the brown fitted jersey shirt with wide-leg trousers in a slightly lighter shade, cinched neatly with a leather belt. What set her look apart was the choice of accessories—golden earrings, an oxidized choker, a chunky bracelet, and a maroon purse that added depth to the earthy palette. With her hair pulled back into a messy low ponytail, she struck a fine balance between polished elegance and effortless ease.

Alia Bhatt’s Interpretation Alia, on the other hand, wore the same outfit for a magazine shoot and gave it a fresh editorial spin. She paired the brown shirt and linen trousers with a standout golden chain choker cascading down to her waist. A pop of contrast came through her yellow Gucci purse, complemented by maroon-brown stilettos. With her hair styled in soft, tousled waves and a nude, dewy makeup look, Alia’s version leaned into youthful charm and magazine-ready appeal.

Style Showdown Both actresses stayed true to their personal style while honoring the outfit’s sophistication. Malavika’s approach felt more event-ready and grounded, while Alia’s leaned into high-fashion drama with playful touches. Neither look outshines the other completely—they simply highlight the versatility of the ensemble.

During his recent stay in India, global pop icon Ed Sheeran made headlines with a striking comparison between Shah Rukh Khan’s blockbuster Om Shanti Om and the cult classic Star Wars. Speaking with Zane Lowe on his YouTube channel, Sheeran said that encountering Om Shanti Om for the first time was like “introducing Star Wars to someone… They just go like, ‘What the f*** is this?’”

Sheeran’s visit to India was in connection with the filming of his track ‘Sapphire’ alongside Bollywood singer Arijit Singh. Reflecting on his travels, he remarked: “What was interesting about doing the whole India tour was that the only reason we were there was to shoot the music video. We thought that we needed to go all over the country and shoot a little bit everywhere. I love that every hundred miles, the culture, language, food, fashion, rhythms, and all of it changed.”

On the subject of Indian cinema, Sheeran recalled being introduced to Om Shanti Om. He said, “It's a wealth of discovery of movies, and someone going like, ‘Oh, have you seen this movie? Have you seen Om Shanti Om?’ It's like a really big Shah Rukh Khan movie, and it has amazing songs and dances in it. This is a weird analogy, but it is almost like introducing Star Wars to someone for the first time, and they just go like, ‘What the f*** is this?’ There are superstars in the same country singing in different languages.”

He called his stay in India and his work with Arijit Singh “the most incredible days of my musical journey,” as he was seen wandering through local streets, riding in autos, and even giving surprise performances in Hyderabad.

Om Shanti Om, directed by Farah Khan and released in 2007, was a major milestone in Bollywood: it marked Deepika Padukone’s debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan and is celebrated for its spectacle, music, and dance.

The Pan-India mythological-fantasy film Mirai has been released today worldwide. The excitement for it is there due to the subject, casting, exciting trailer and also the association of Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions for the Hindi version. Bollywood Hungama has learned that Mirai is not just a one-part saga. The makers have intended it to be a multi-part series and the hint about it is given towards the end of the film.

Mirai ends with the promise of a sequel. The title of the second part is mentioned in the end slate - Mirai: Jaithraya. That’s not all. A mid-credit scene is shown to the audience and it introduces the new villain of the series – Rana Daggubati!

Further, Rana’s character is shown to possess a mysterious power. It is quite intriguing and with this scene, the makers make it clear that Veda, the protagonist, is up for a bigger threat in the sequel. Rana Daggubati looks apt for the casting and moreover, his role will surely remind one of his legendary villainous act as Bhallaladeva in Baahubali.

Mirai stars Teja Sajja, Manchu Manoj, Ritika Nayak, Shriya Saran and others. Written and directed by Karthik Gattamneni, it is the story of an orphan who realizes that he is in the world for the greater good and to stop an evil force. Teja plays the protagonist Veda while Manchu Manoj is the villain, Mahabhir Lama.

At the trailer launch of Mirai’s Hindi version in Mumbai, Teja Sajja remarked, “Why does nobody question when the same love story is made again and again, but the moment we try to tell a story inspired by our ‘dharma’, people start raising doubts? We should feel proud—this is our land, these are our morals. In the 3 minutes 10 seconds of the trailer, only 10 seconds show a glimpse of Lord Rama, and for that alone, questions of religion are being raised. This film is not just about that—it’s a mix of fantasy, action, adventure, superhero storytelling, and deep emotions. We’re bringing all of this together through the lens of our Indian itihasa, in a fresh and cool way, so that the younger generation can connect with it and embrace it.”

Actor-turned-presenter Mandira Bedi has opened up about the difficult beginning to her stint as a host during the 2003 Cricket World Cup, saying that despite a rocky first week, she managed to turn public opinion around by changing her approach on live TV. The account appeared in an Indian Express report summarising Bedi’s conversation on Sanjeev Datta’s Personality School YouTube channel.

Mandira said, “Cricket was career changing for me,” revealed she was spotted after screen tests and selected from among many hopefuls. “My first reaction was yes when they asked me to host the World Cup, but a lot came after that. They were screen-testing 1000 other women.” She remembered how intimidating it was to sit beside legendary ex-cricketers and face live television for the first time.

She reflected on her first experience of hosting the World Cup, describing it as highly challenging. Sharing the stage with legendary former cricketers, she admitted, “No matter how much you prepare for that moment, you’re never truly prepared for it.”

Reflecting on that opening week, Bedi admitted, “The beginning was disastrous. I had a lot of baggage in my head, thinking this is cricket, it is the highest rated content on Indian television. And words once spoken on live TV cannot be taken back. I had a lot of nervous energy and I messed up a few times. After every show, I would put my head down and would cry.”

She said channel executives intervened to calm her and reshape expectations. “Eventually, they had a little intervention, and they told me that you have what it takes, but there is something that is holding you back, just go and have fun. They told me you are not a commentator or an analyst, so just go and ask whatever you want, nothing is off the table,” she revealed.

After that talk, Bedi changed tack on air. “Post that intervention with tears streaking on my face, I went on air and I smiled through it all. That was half the job done. I smiled and asked cheeky questions. I made people laugh and everything changed after that.”

She added, “The first week was a disaster, but it was a long tournament, so I took time to change people’s minds. All the talk that was coming about ‘how dumb she is, not one word that she speaks is sensible’, it changed to ‘what a delight it is to have her on the panel, she makes the panel more fun.’ A lot of people’s minds got changed during that period of a few weeks.”

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta’s web series Gandhi was recently screened at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) to a standing ovation. The show, which is produced by Applause Entertainment, sees Pratik Gandhi play Mahatma Gandhi. The actor spoke about the experience in an interview with us.

Your series Gandhi was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival to a standing ovation which is not a common occurrence at this festival Well it’s a lifetime experience for me. My heart is full of gratitude and satisfaction. It’s the biggest project of my career till now. Lots of firsts attached to this one. My wife Bhamini and I are working on screen together for the first time. That’s a long awaited dream come true for us.

It is also the first series to be shown at the TIFF. Normally they screen feature films It is a first ever made in India, made by Indians on Gandhi. I am sure the world has not seen this Gandhi ever before. It’s about Mohan we don’t know much about. We screened only the first two episodes at TIFF. We got a standing ovation and that was extremely overwhelming. I am happy that the world will explore Bhamini’s talent through her impactful and compelling performance as Kasturba. Can’t wait to show the series to my audience in India.

Do you see this as your international launch? Yes, I would like to believe so. Going by the response we have got in Toronto, I can only see the impact of the series spreading.

Komal Nahta is back with a new season of his podcast, Game Changers: The Producer Series. This edition will feature producers sharing insights about their journeys.

The next guest on the series is actor Aamir Khan. In his conversation with Komal Nahta, he shared that he never planned on becoming a producer, as his father’s struggles in the field had once discouraged him from pursuing it.

Aamir revealed how he was happy being an actor and never wanted to become a producer, “Mujhe lagta hai jab maine apne father ka career dekha first-hand jab main chhota tha, toh mujhe realise hua mujhe producer kabhi nahi banna hai. Kyunki sabse zyada mehnat aapki hoti hai, risk aap le rahe ho, paise aap laga rahe ho aur sirf aap gaaliyaan kha rahe ho. Plus, a lot of times aapke saath team kabhi cooperate nahi karti, toh meri father ki film 8 saal lagi thi locket banane mein. Toh yeh sab dekhke mujhe laga yaar hum ab actor ban gaye hai, gaadi bhi chal gayi hai, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak hit hogyi hai. Mujhe producer banne ki kya zaroorat hai. Mein jab film karunga mujhe paise mil jaayenge, I'll be happy. Aur mein apne producer ko tang bhi nahi karta hoon, toh I am happy.”

He further added, “Aur maine interviews bhi diye, agar aap mere early interviews padhenge, toh log mujhe puchte the, ki aap kabhi produce karenge toh mein kehta tha kabhi nahi, aur kuch bhi kar lunga, mein direct toh definitely karunga, act toh kar hi raha hoon par produce mein kabhi life mein nahi karunga. Yeh, mere categorical statements hai, aise categorical statements kabhi nahi karne chahiye.”

With Game Changers Podcast: The Producer Series, Komal Nahta brings insightful conversations with some of Indian cinema’s most notable producers. Episodes are available on the YouTube channel, Game Changer: The Series.

Prajakta Koli is deeply affected by the growing violence and unrest in Nepal, with the disturbing visuals and reports leaving her saddened. She has chosen to cancel her planned trip to the country and expressed solidarity with those suffering from the crisis.

On Tuesday, Prajakta shared her concern and sorrow over the ongoing unrest in Nepal through an Instagram Story. In her note, she conveyed her thoughts and extended solidarity with those impacted by the situation.

Prajakta wrote, “What happened in Nepal yesterday is truly heartbreaking. Any form of celebration at such a time feels inappropriate. My heart goes out to the families of those who have suffered. I was really looking forward to being there and meeting everyone, but now isn’t the right time. Hopefully, I’ll get to see you all very soon.”

The upheaval in Nepal stems from protests led by Generation Z sparked by the government’s decision to shut down popular social media platforms for failing to register with the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology. This move ignited widespread anger rooted in long-standing issues of corruption, nepotism, and economic marginalization of youth.

Despite the government's efforts to reverse the social media ban, protestors remain undeterred. Several sites of authority including Parliament, the President’s Office, the Prime Minister’s residence, Supreme Court, and party headquarters have been set ablaze. A particularly tragic incident led to the death of Rajyalaxmi Chitrakar, wife of former Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal. In the midst of the crisis, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has resigned, and the Nepali Army has assumed control of security operations.

In solidarity with those affected, Prajakta’s decision underscores the gravity of the situation on the ground. Her message stands as a poignant expression of empathy and restraint during a time when “any form of celebration feels inappropriate.”

AR Rahman created the soundtrack for the Oscar-winning 2008 film Slumdog Millionaire. Its iconic song ‘Jai Ho’ brought him two Academy Awards—for Best Original Score and Best Original Song—along with several other accolades. Surprisingly, Rahman nearly turned down the project after his agent advised against it. In a recent interview, the composer shared that his then-manager worried he might lose his job, as director Danny Boyle was known for rejecting people’s work. Despite the concern, Rahman chose to follow his instincts, and the songs ultimately gained global recognition and acclaim.

Speaking with Suchitra Tyagi at TIFF 2025, Rahman shared that his agent feared he might be fired due to director Danny Boyle’s reputation for discarding contributors. “Actually, what happened was my agent at that time said, ‘Don’t do this because you might get fired’. I said, ‘Okay, nobody will know that I got fired if I don’t tell it out’. So, I scored the movie and Danny was amazing. You have all the system around which confuses you. So, I went ahead with it and the result was great. It was actually a leap of faith and courage. Sometimes, people confuse you but you have to think what you have to do, what is right.’”

In a move that highlights both caution and creativity, the composer kept his work under wraps from his own team. “I did it in secret. The team thought it was a documentary or something like that.” Rahman said, noting how the project ultimately catapulted him onto the international stage. “It brought in a bigger international audience for me. In life, you get certain projects which are very blessed.”

When asked if he is difficult to satisfy, the music composer responded, “To please myself? Yes. I torture myself. I am not seeking validation. My validation which I seek is within myself. If I do something under my level, I feel guilty. I don’t sleep for many nights.”

He added, “Sometimes, I have sleepless nights for a month, thinking about why I did something and how I should have done better. Even with mixing or anything else. I have trained a lot of people now, so that even if I miss anything, they do the last checkup. The problem with life is that the more you evolve, the more guilty you feel, the more you want to go deep in within your work.”

Slumdog Millionaire went on to become a defining milestone in Rahman’s career, with its iconic track ‘Jai Ho’ earning him Academy Awards for both Best Original Score and Best Original Song. The episode stands as a powerful testament to the importance of trusting one’s creative judgment, even in the face of doubt.

You were so much fun to watch in Ram Gopal Varma’s Darling. It’s one of the films where I had the most fun playing a negative role — especially taking revenge, but in a slightly humorous way.

How did you and Ramu get together? Working with Ram Gopal Varmaji back then was an absolute treat. He observed me very closely in our first meeting and, surprisingly, picked up on certain mannerisms of mine. He then made me use those in the character. He let me be, and that helped bring out a powerful performance. I remember one particularly tough monologue — it just flowed naturally, without feeling forced.

It couldn’t be easy playing a ghost. Ramuji allowed me to be completely free in front of the camera — no body language coaching, no workshops, just pure spontaneity. That’s exactly how I like to work. Thank God there were no workshops back then, because for some of us, they can kill that spark of spontaneity.

How did Fardeen Khan and you get along? (Laughs) Poor Fardeen got a lot of whacks from me in this film! I remember apologising to him after every shot because my character had to be so mean to him. In reality, though, he’s one of my closest buddies. We had a great time shooting together. And I loved the song Tadap Tadap. Though Isha [Koppikar] and I had very little screen time together, she was an absolute sweetheart on set. Honestly, I just had a blast doing such a role. I also remember your review from back then, where you praised me a lot — it’s still special.

Do you believe in ghosts? Hahaha… I believe in angels!

This September, Star Gold will present the World TV Premiere of Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh on Saturday, September 13, at 8 PM. Inspired by true events and based on the book The Case That Shook the Empire by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat, the film revisits a pivotal yet lesser-known chapter of India’s freedom movement. It highlights the courtroom battle led by barrister C. Sankaran Nair, who boldly challenged the British Crown to reveal the truth behind the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre.

Directed by debutant Karan Singh Tyagi, who himself has been a lawyer by profession and produced by Dharma Productions, the film combines gripping drama with historical depth. Akshay Kumar leads the cast as C. Sankaran Nair, a man whose moral reckoning led him to challenge the might of the British Empire. He is joined by R. Madhavan and Ananya Panday in pivotal roles that add intensity and emotional depth to this courtroom battle.

Commenting on the World TV Premiere, a JioStar Spokesperson said, “Star Gold has consistently been at the forefront of bringing landmark premieres to TV, and Kesari Chapter 2 is another proud addition to this slate. With stirring performances and a gripping narrative, this premiere is a doorway to an extraordinary tale of courage and sacrifice, inspired by the events of Jallianwala Bagh.”

Talking about the premiere Akshay Kumar shared, “Playing C. Sankaran Nair has been one of the most fulfilling roles of my career. His story is a testament to the fact that courage isn't just on the battlefield it's also found in the fight for truth and justice. I'm very happy that this Untold story of Jallianwala Bagh will now reach homes across the country and millions of people will know the truth behind the massacre when Kesari Chapter 2 premieres on Star Gold on 13th September at 8 PM.”

Madhavan commented, “Neville McKinley was a complex and challenging character to portray. His story is one of internal conflict, and it was a privilege to be a part of this powerful narrative. I’m excited for audience across the country to witness this courtroom battle and to know the truth of Jallianwala Bagh that most of us were unaware of. Watch it all unfold in the World TV Premiere of Kesari Chapter 2 on September 13, at 8 PM, only on Star Gold.”

Being part of a film that captures such an important moment in our country’s history has been truly special, and I hope viewers, especially the youth, feel the same pride and inspiration I did while bringing Dilreet’s character to life. I’m really looking forward to audiences across the country joining us for the World TV Premiere on Star Gold on September 13 at 8 PM.”

Karan Johar stated, “Producing Kesari Chapter 2 has been a journey of immense pride for Dharma Productions. The story of C. This year has been significant for the Roshan family in more ways than one. 2025 began with them dominating the limelight, first for the release of The Roshans on Netflix, followed by the re-release of Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai (2000). It also means that Hrithik Roshan also completed 25 years as an actor and this feat was also celebrated in a grand fashion. 2 months later, it was announced that Hrithik would take the baton from his father, Rakesh Roshan, and direct Krrish 4. Bollywood Hungama exclusively spoke to Rakesh Roshan on his 76th birthday recently and during this conversation, he shared a major update about Krrish 4.

Rakesh Roshan is known to meticulously plan his projects and sketch out a detailed production plan and schedule before going on floors. Krrish 4 is no exception. He explained, “The script didn’t take a lot of time. The pressure was the budgeting. Now that we have an idea of the definite budget required for this film, we’ll be starting the film.”

With the Roshans’ trademark discipline ensuring the project is firmly structured before execution, Rakesh Roshan further elaborated on the timelines, “The work is going on all in full swing. We are going to start the shoot of the film by the middle of next year. This is because the pre-production is much more extensive in this film. Hence, we have to be well-prepared before we go on floors.”

When asked if the shoot would go on until the end of 2026, the legendary filmmaker replied in the affirmative. Will Krrish 4 then be released in 2027 or 2028? Rakesh Roshan replied, “We plan to release it in 2027.”

Krrish 4 is the fourth part of the blockbuster superhero franchise, the first three being Koi Mil Gaya (2003), Krrish (2006) and Krrish 3 (2013). All these three movies were directed by Rakesh Roshan. Interestingly, Krrish 4 is co-produced by Yash Raj Films (YRF). It marks the first collaboration between YRF and the esteemed production house of the Senior Roshan, Filmkraft.

Ananya Panday revealed that choosing celebrated designer Gauri Khan to style her new Mumbai home was driven by heartfelt sentiment. In an interview with NIF Global, recalling their long-standing bond, Ananya described Gauri as “almost been a second mother to me,” explaining, “Honestly, for me, it was a sentimental decision to have Gauri Khan do my house because I have grown up around her and she has almost been a second mother to me. She knew me, really me. She was like, if I was doing this for Suhana [Khan, her daughter], then I would have done something very similar.”

She further emphasized how Gauri balanced familiarity with respect. “What I liked about Gauri ma'am was that even though she had known me since I was a kid, she still took me seriously. She saw that this is my first house and I would want to do it in a way… so she never put too many of her opinions or decisions… she left it open to me. Everything was like a question or conversation… ‘Is this something you would like?’ ‘Do you want to try this?’  Interior design is such a personal thing... it is also someone's home where they will be spending every single day. So understanding the person's personality is very important.”

The anime market in India is niche but also significant and this has been proved yet again by the bookings of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle. It is all set to release on Friday, September 13 and many shows are already sold out or about to get house full, astonishing the trade and industry.

The advance booking opened on Friday, September 5 and in no time, the tickets started getting sold like hot cakes. The demand is especially high for the Japanese 2D IMAX version. Looking at the response, shows as early as 5 am have been added. In the IMAX screen at Cinepolis Seawoods, Navi Mumbai, a 5:20 am show of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle will be played on the release day. Such early morning shows have become common in the post-pandemic for biggies, but this is the first time that a Japanese film has achieved this feat in India.

The IMAX at PVR Vegas Dwarka and Inox Vishal Mall in Delhi will each have a 6:40 am show while PVR Ambience Gurugram and PVR Select City Walk will play shows at 7:30 am. In Bengaluru, 6:30 am shows have been incorporated in the IMAX screens at PVR Nexus, Inox Mantri Square and Inox Galleria Mall. The earliest show in India, as of now, is at Inox Megaplex, Pune. It'll play the 5:15 am show, that is, 5 minutes before the show at Cinepolis Seawoods. With demand for tickets increasing with each passing day, many more such early morning shows are expected to be added not just in IMAX properties but also in non-IMAX theatres.

As for Friday night, PVR sold 25,000 tickets of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle, while Cinepolis had a sale of 6,000 tickets. However, in the last 24 hours, more than 65,000 tickets have been sold on the ticketing app BookMyShow. Hence, expect the Japanese anime film to take a surprising start on September 12.

Boney Kapoor’s much-awaited film Maidaan (2024), starring Ajay Devgn, was finally released after years of delay due to Covid-19. Despite getting unanimous acclaim, it failed to work at the box office. Boney Kapoor, in an interview to Komal Nahta, said that he has paid money to all the vendors, though he suffered a huge loss.

Boney said, “If the film didn’t work, how are the vendors to blame? They patiently waited. For instance, a vendor charged Rs. 100 for his services. I paid him Rs. 60 while the film was in production. I owed him Rs. 40. For those Rs. 40, he waited for 4 years. Will it be fair after I tell such vendors after all these years, ‘My film has flopped and hence, I can’t pay’? I borrowed money to pay them.”

He continued, “A few of them met me with their father. This is because their father had also worked with me earlier. They got mithai ka dabba aur woh mujhe aashirwad deke gaye hai. Then there were some who voluntarily cut down on 10-15% of the amount that I owed them. They would tell me, ‘Pados ke office ki film super-hit hui hai. Uske paise aaj tak nahin mile hai’, ‘yeh producer ke itne paise balance hai’. I would tell them, ‘Mujhe kuch nahin sunna hai. What I owe you (I’ll pay you)’.”

Boney Kapoor further stated, “This has happened even before the release of No Entry. If I assure someone that they’ll be paid in a month and before he would call me, I would phone him and tell him, ‘Yaar, 15 din aur late ho jaayenge’. Also, I never changed my number. Isse yeh hota hai ki jisko paise lene hai, uska hausla rehta hai. Iske liye himmat chahiye. I could look into the eyes of every person I owe money because I know I’ll pay him back. I believe this goodwill has kept me relevant even today (smiles).”

Boney Kapoor then opened up on the difficulties he faced in making Maidaan, “I suffered losses as the film was stranded for 4-4 ½ years because of Covid. 70% of the shoot was completed in January 2020. We were all set to shoot the matches from March 22. 250 actors playing foreign team players had arrived in Mumbai. Who had imagined that it would go on for so long? I kept the unit here until the last flight of the actors' origin country. This happened many times. Moreover, my set got washed out during the cyclone.”

Boney was asked about the rising cost and he confessed, “The original budget was Rs. 120 crores. But due to delays and Covid, the cost went up to Rs. 210 crores.”

He also said, “We had a unit of 600-800 people during the shoot of the matches. Because of Covid, there were restrictions. I used to order food from Taj Flight Kitchens. There were 4 ambulances. No one was allowed to eat together. They were given food packets and if they needed a refill of the meal, tents were set up for it. We didn’t give them local water. We signed a deal with a particular brand to supply water. Uska accha khaasa bill tha. We had to give the foreign actors the assurance that the water is safe for them to consume. All this added to the cost, more so when you did it over a period of 3 years.”

He revealed, “During the shoot of match scenes, there were hardly any foreigners in Mumbai. Even if we had to do multiplication during VFX, we needed 1000-2000 junior artists to show a crowd of 40,000 people. Hence, we had to fly to Bangkok for those sequences. For the stadium exterior, we shot outside different universities in Bangkok.”
