In a poignant and revealing interview with Filmfare YouTube, Shabana Azmi reflected on her experiences with the enigmatic yet troubled Parveen Babi, one of the most glamorous stars of her time. Azmi, known for her candid insights, recounted moments on film sets where Parveen’s declining mental health became alarmingly visible.

“I saw Parveen Babi going mad in front of my eyes. We were doing a Prakash Mehra film, Jwalamukhi, and we were on the set, and she suddenly looked to the chandelier and started screaming, ‘This chandelier is going to fall on me,’” Azmi recalled. The haunting memory painted a vivid picture of Parveen's distress. Azmi also mentioned incidents from the sets of Ashanti, where Babi's eating habits had drastically changed. “She used to eat two grapes and say that I am bursting,” she added, pointing toward possible symptoms of severe anxiety or an eating disorder.

The veteran actress also described a moment involving actress Zeenat Aman that left her with deep concern. “She went and stood behind her and looked at her in a very strange kind of manner,” Azmi said, underlining how erratic behavior had begun to emerge in Parveen's interactions.

These stories not only highlight the intensity of Parveen Babi’s inner turmoil but also reflect the silence that often surrounded such issues in the film industry during the '70s and '80s. “We never talked about this,” Azmi admitted. “She was always speaking about esoteric things, discussing books, and she was a big star, but she never played the star as such, but she was in quest of an intellect that didn’t really come easy to her, but she was struggling with something.”

Parveen Babi’s life continues to evoke conversations around fame, isolation, and mental health. In opening up, Azmi not only paid tribute to a complex co-star but also nudged forward the much-needed discourse on mental health in the entertainment world.

With the buzz around Don 3 building up, featuring Ranveer Singh stepping into the iconic role and Sharvari reportedly playing the female lead—an old interview of actor Alyy Khan has resurfaced, offering fans a nostalgic peek into the energy and spontaneity Shah Rukh Khan brought to the set of Don (2006).

Alyy Khan, who played Diwan in the stylish remake of the Amitabh Bachchan classic, appeared on Nadir Ali’s podcast some time ago and recalled an amusing and iconic behind-the-scenes moment involving SRK, director Farhan Akhtar, and a slight improvisation during a dramatic scene. “Usne (SRK) scene memorise kiya nahin tha, toh koi assistant ne usko script pakdaya (He hadn’t memorised the scene, so an assistant handed him the script),” Alyy shared. “Voh script dekhta hai, kehta, ‘Haan, okay boss. Let’s read.’ We read the scene… jab hum scene padh rahe the toh scene ke end pe Shah Rukh Khan ne ek line add ki (He looks at the script and says, ‘Yes, okay boss. Let’s read.’ While we were reading, Shah Rukh added a line at the end of the scene).”

This improvised moment caught director Farhan Akhtar's attention, and his subtle reaction didn’t go unnoticed. “Farhan, jo scene follow kar raha hai aur Shah Rukh ko dekh raha hai, mujhe mehsoos ho raha hai apne peripheral vision se (Farhan, who was following the scene and watching Shah Rukh, I noticed from my peripheral vision)… Farhan aise (shakes head) kar raha hai (he was slightly shaking his head).” Once the scene ended, SRK casually removed his glasses and said, “Chal yaar, bhookh lag rahi hai, khaane chalte hain (Come on, I’m hungry. Let’s go eat).”

Farhan then politely stepped in. “Farhan kehta hai, ‘Yaar, Shah, yaar ek request kar sakta hoon? Jo line tune add ki hai voh darasal script main hai nahin. Toh jis tarah script likhi gayi hai, ek baar ussi tarah padh sakte hain (Farhan said, ‘Shah, can I make a request? The line you added isn’t actually in the script. Can we try doing it the way it’s written just once)?”

To which SRK quipped in signature style, “Abe saale, Don bana raha hai lekin Don kaun hai? Shah Rukh Khan hai na? Public ko Shah Rukh Khan bhi toh dekhna hai na. Relax, don’t worry about it. Main karta hoon na (You’re making Don, but who is Don? Shah Rukh Khan, right? The audience wants to see Shah Rukh Khan too. Relax, don’t worry. I’ll handle it).”

This candid moment not only highlights SRK’s spontaneity but also the effortless confidence he brought to the role - a mix of swagger and star power. Eventually, we hear that even though Farhan was not convinced and even considered editing it, it seems that he eventually retained the improvised version and the film, which was also produced by co-produced by SRK, went on to become a box office success.

As Don 3 enters a new era with Ranveer Singh, such stories serve as a reminder of the magic that Khan brought to the franchise, making Don not just a character, but a cinematic persona.

For my time and money, Aamir is the most creative Khan in Filmistan. Anything he does sets the pulse racing.

At the moment, all eyes are on Aamir Khan’s no sequel to 2007’s stunning Taare Zameen Par, but a companion piece, so to speak, or the spiritual Sitaare Zameen Par, sibling. Like Taare Zameen Par, Sitaare Zameen Par is also about broken lives and unbroken hope.

For the first time, Aamir reveals the characters in Sitaare Zameen Par: “There are ten protagonists, some with Down Syndrome, some Autistic, some with multiple challenges. Along the spectrum.”

All the protagonists are played by the specially abled. That Aamir chooses to deep-dive into special lives time after time, says a whole lot about his commitment to using cinema as a tool of social exposition and even reform.

Though the release date has not been officially announced as yet, Sitaare Zameen Par opens on June 20.

Aamir Khan is officially returning to the big screen with Sitaare Zameen Par, his much-anticipated comeback film, which is now slated to release on June 20, 2025. Directed by RS Prasanna, the film is said to be a spiritual sequel to Taare Zameen Par and will once again delve into the theme of disability—this time with a fresh and heartwarming storyline.

According to a report by Pinkvilla, the makers have completed the film’s editing, and Aamir is now fully immersed in its promotional strategy. “Aamir is looking to capitalize on the open run in the month of June. Initially, he was contemplating to arrive on May 30, but a June 20 release is giving him a two-week clear run at the box office,” a source was quoted in these reports.

The source further added, “Aamir strongly believes in the content of Sitaare Zameen Par, as it rides on his formula of laughter-emotion-drama. He was looking for a good window and has found one with a June 20 release. The entire marketing plan of this social dramedy is locked.”

Fans can also look forward to the film’s trailer, which is expected to be unveiled in May. Aamir reportedly has a smart marketing move in place to ensure wide visibility. “The trailer is locked and Aamir is targeting to attach the trailer to Raid 2. The idea is to communicate the date directly to the cinema-going audience, and Raid 2 is a film which is expected to do well at the box office. This is his plan at the moment, but knowing Aamir, there could be last-minute changes too,” revealed the source.

Genelia Deshmukh will be returning to mainstream cinema, marking her first collaboration with Khan. With Sitaare Zameen Par, Aamir is aiming to once again strike an emotional chord with audiences while shedding light on important social themes—this time, through the lens of humor and heartfelt drama.

A decade ago, Mani Ratnam gave us a love story that didn’t shout — it whispered. And in that whisper, O Kadhal Kanmani (OK Kanmani) became a cultural moment. As Dulquer Salmaan celebrates 11 years since his Tamil debut, and 10 years since the release of OK Kanmani here’s why this film still holds a special place in our hearts:

1. Dulquer Salmaan wasn’t just a lead — he was a vibe

Before “pan-India star” became a buzzword, Dulquer was already winning hearts across industries. As Adi, the charming game designer with a soft heart and sharp ambition, Dulquer didn’t act — he was. His chemistry with Nithya Menen’s fiercely independent Tara felt natural, modern, and refreshingly unfilmy. Together, they made love feel real — not rehearsed.

2. Mani Ratnam painted modern love with a classic soul

Only Mani Ratnam could take a live-in relationship and make it feel like a timeless romance. With OK Kanmani, he updated love for the millennial era — no melodrama, no judgement. Just two dreamers navigating ambition, attraction, and everything in between. It was bold without being loud. Romantic without being unrealistic. Modern without losing its soul.

3. A.R. Rahman composed the soundtrack to our youth

Mental Manadhil. Naane Varugiren. Malargal Kaettaen. Enough said. From pulsating romance to delicate introspection, A.R. Rahman’s score didn’t just accompany the story — it told one of its own. Every track from OK Kanmani was a mood board of emotions, playing on car rides, study nights, heartbreaks, and beginnings. It still does.

4. So real, it inspired a remake

Only a handful of South films get remade in Bollywood within two years — OK Kanmani did. OK Jaanu (2017) tried to recreate the magic with Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor, staying loyal to the storyline. But fans knew: the soul of the original — that subtle, unspoken chemistry between Dulquer and Nithya — couldn’t quite be replicated.

5. A box office darling that defied the rules

No dramatic reveals. No over-the-top conflicts. Just an honest story, beautifully told. OK Kanmani was made on a modest budget, yet it earned over ₹40 crore worldwide — a reminder that sincerity in storytelling still sells. It wasn’t just a hit; it was a quiet revolution in Tamil romantic cinema.

Maddy, what’s with this newfound affinity for villainous roles? Yeah, yeah, I know. Maidaan, where I was quite a rogue...

Rogue is a mild description. You were red-hot evil, the devil reincarnated in Maidaan. (Laughs) Okay, I accept that. Then after Maidaan, I played quite an evil character in Test. And now, you’ll see me as the antagonist in Kesari 2.

So, is this a new career in villainy, even though you’re doing so well as a leading man? No, no, no. This was just a phase—and one that I quite enjoyed.

Like Shah Rukh Khan’s grey trilogy: Darr, Baazigar, and Anjaam? If you say so. But I’ll tell you one thing if you’ll listen to me...

I’m all ears. Playing a grey or black character was challenging. I like to think of myself as a good human being in real life. These three films gave me a chance to explore the darker sides of my personality. In real life, I would never dare to do the things that my characters did in Maidaan, Test, and Kesari 2.

How was the experience of working with Karan Johar for the first time? Oh, just amazing! Karan is one of the most passionate producers I’ve ever worked with. His dedication to getting his films to the screen with as few bumps as possible is exemplary. Kesari 2 has turned out to be a very special film. Working with Karan and Akshay Kumar was a dream.

So, are you done with being bad—for now? Yes, in my next film I’m back to being my usual sweet self.

Come to think of it, you were quite a rogue in your Hindi debut Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein. Yeah, a Prem Rogue! (laughs) Jokes aside, most people have shades of both black and white in them. So it is in the movies too. Even my character in my first big television series Banegi Apni Baat was no saint.

This is your 29th year in the acting business. How does that feel? I never treated it like a business. It’s always been a joyride for me. No matter what the language, I love being in front of the camera. I think I still have a lot more to give.

The transaction, registered in March 2025, is part of a larger 30-acre 17-guntha plot. Property registration documents confirm the deal, highlighting the duo's growing real estate interests. Ironically, your film is being excoriated for referring to the caste system during a time when we are celebrating Dr. Ambedkar’s birth anniversary. Yes, Babasaheb Ambedkar drew inspiration from Jyotiba's doctrine and even considered the couple his gurus. In fact, it was Savitribai who coined the term "Dalit" to replace “Shudra.” Yes, it’s a strange irony that all of this is happening at the same time.

Did you expect this backlash? I do not make films anticipating any backlash. I was making a film on the most fearless couple in India. How could I harbour doubts about the reactions? That would be doing them an injustice.

Why is the film stuck with the censors over its caste references? The film is not stuck at the censor board. We received a clear ‘U’ certificate after submitting the amendments they suggested. Direct references to caste names were probably deemed unsuitable, so they were softened.

We’ve had some notable films on the caste system, from Bimal Roy’s Sujata to Neeraj Ghaywan’s Masaan. Where does Phule fit in? Yes, we have had several films based on the caste system, but each came in different decades when sensibilities were perhaps mature enough to comprehend the subject. Today, we are in a different zone of thought—perhaps too sensitive. So, reactive forces are louder. Uncannily, that’s exactly the line in our trailer: “We are an emotionally charged people and need to guard against losing our understanding.”

Should censorship be abolished? Certification of cinema is not restricted to our country. There are censor boards in the UK, China, and elsewhere, and each sees a film through a different lens. Eventually, they’re all people, and opinions are personal. It’s up to creative individuals to exercise self-censorship, so we don’t cross the boundaries of artistic freedom.

Where would you place Phule in your body of work? Phule is probably my most challenging film project so far. It required reams of research, careful analysis, and deliberate execution. It’s a film about history that has lived for more than a hundred years—and is just as relevant today as it was then.

Arjun Kapoor openly admits that he admires director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s visual storytelling. Speaking on the Chalchitra Talks podcast, he shared that although he doesn’t always agree with the protagonists’ actions in films like Animal or Arjun Reddy, he appreciates the way Sandeep conveys the characters’ thought processes to the audience.

Arjun mentioned Sandeep in response to the podcaster's remark that most Indian films lack thoughtful visual language. He highlighted that Sandeep has a distinctive approach to editing, framing, visuals, and sound that sets him apart in mainstream cinema.

While discussing the interval sequence in Animal, where Ranbir Kapoor’s character Ranvijay Singh fights off a group of goons alone, Arjun said, “I remembered the corridor scene from Oldboy, and then I thought of what Sandeep did. By putting masks on the goons, he turned them into a single embodiment of evil instead of making them look cartoonish. Bobby Deol’s introduction, with the use of split screen opposite Ranbir, is unconventional—but the sound design elevates it. And when Anil Kapoor’s character sees Ranbir return, Sandeep allows a looser edit to bring out a stronger performance.”

Arjun also said that even if you don't agree with Ranvijay’s decision to take a gun to school, the film helps you understand his reasons. He then mentioned Sandeep’s debut film with Vijay Deverakonda and said, “Now see, Arjun Reddy is a tremendously crafted film. Main toh paagal ho gaya tha dekhke. I watched it alone. I got up on a chair and started clapping. I went mad wondering how this man’s brain works, how he brings out these performances and what is this writing?”

Arjun was last seen playing the antagonist in the 2024 film Singham Again, and in 2025, he appeared in the romantic comedy Mere Husband Ki Biwi. Sandeep’s most recent film, Animal, released in 2023, was a major hit. He is currently filming his next project, Spirit, starring Prabhas in the lead role.

Earlier that day, Khan received a threatening message from an individual claiming to be associated with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi's gang. The message, sent to the Mumbai Traffic Control Cell, demanded an apology or a payment of Rs 5 crore, warning that failure to comply would result in harm to the actor. This incident follows a series of similar threats, including one in October 2024, where a person from Jamshedpur was arrested for sending a WhatsApp message demanding Rs 5 crore from Khan.

In response to these threats, Mumbai Police have increased security measures around Khan's residence and have initiated investigations to identify and apprehend those responsible. The actor has also been provided with Y-Plus category security, reflecting the seriousness of the threats.

Despite the challenges, Khan's latest Instagram post serves as a testament to his resilience and unwavering focus on his fitness journey. His message resonates as a reminder to his followers to stay motivated and continue pursuing their goals, regardless of the obstacles they may face.

Sunny Singh, whose latest movie The Bhootnii is set to hit theatres on April 18, 2025, recently appeared in an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama on the Lights, Camera, Podcast with Rohit Khilnani.

In the conversation, the actor reflected on his career milestones, the ongoing pressures of social media, and how he navigates the evolving landscape of the entertainment industry.

Talking about his breakout roles, Sunny credited Pyaar Ka Punchnama and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety for establishing him as a recognised name. “Punchnama and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety gave me somewhere a benchmark as an actor. Every actor needs that, like, people should see my acting. So they saw it,” he shared. “Whenever I go, they talk about the acting part, ‘I love your acting!’ That’s what you need as an actor.”

When asked about the films that audiences still remember him for, Sunny pointed out, “I think three films, Punchnama, Ujda Chaman, and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety. Ujda Chaman because the character was different.” He also expressed his wish for wider viewership of Wild Wild Punjab. “I’ve got so many DMs because that was all about my range as an actor. It was very difficult, very different,” he added.

However, Sunny admitted that the off-screen demands of being an actor, especially maintaining a social media presence, don’t come naturally to him. “I am not good at social media posting… when I feel like it, I’ll post,” he confessed. “But there is a pressure, which is also correct, you know. You need to be there. This is what it is, 2025 is about.”

In the podcast, Sunny Singh also revealed that actor Sanjay Dutt often keeps a check on him and offers valuable guidance. Singh added that Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan always make it a point to reply to his messages, which he deeply appreciates. He regularly catches up with Vicky Kaushal and Sunny Kaushal for long conversations and shares a strong bond with their father, Shyam Kaushal, as well.

Director Meghna Gulzar and Junglee Pictures are set to reunite for their third film together, Daayra, a crime-drama thriller starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran in lead roles. The project follows their past collaborations on Raazi and Talvar and is currently in pre-production.

Described as a hard-hitting narrative that explores crime, justice, and the grey areas in between, Daayra brings together actors from different industries to depict the complexities of contemporary society. Marking her 25th year in Hindi cinema, Kareena Kapoor Khan shared her thoughts on the new project and said, “As I celebrate 25 incredible years in Hindi cinema, I'm thrilled to announce my next film, Daayra, with the incredible Meghna Gulzar in the director’s chair. I've long admired her work, from Talvar to Raazi, and to be directed by her is a dream come true. The opportunity to collaborate with the talented Prithviraj is also a highlight, and I'm drawn to the film's bold, thought-provoking narrative. Daayra promises to be a cinematic experience that challenges and inspires, and I look forward to working with Meghna, Prithviraj, and the team at Junglee Pictures on this powerful, timely film.”

Prithviraj Sukumaran, who recently helmed the Malayalam hit L2: Empuraan, takes on another major Hindi-language role with Daayra. “When the script was narrated to me, I knew I had to do this. I was thoroughly absorbed by my character and what he brings to the table as the story progresses. It is layered and will definitely connect with the masses. Working with Meghna Gulzar's vision, Junglee Pictures and an actor like Kareena Kapoor will be a great collaborative experience. Daayra is story that is one of a kind and digs deep into the societal norms, world of crime and punishment that unfolds," the actor-filmmaker stated.

Director Meghna Gulzar elaborated on the film’s theme and narrative focus. “Daayra is a story that compels you to reflect on the society we live in and its institutions that pilot us. With co-writers Sima and Yash, unravelling the greys within the black and white, was both challenging and exciting. And as Kareena and Prithviraj bring the lead characters to life, the narrative dynamics are all set to elevate further! It’s always creatively gratifying to collaborate with Junglee Pictures, known for backing stories that are compelling and demand telling,” she shared

Speaking on behalf of the production house, Amrita Pandey, CEO of Junglee Pictures added, “We are so very proud to be making Daayra. This story couldn’t be in better hands than Meghna's. Her exceptional craft, deep sensitivity, and knack for blending entertainment and substance make her the ideal collaborator to bring this vision to life. We are fortunate to have a dream casting with Kareena and Prithviraj taking on the lead roles. Yash and Sima who have co-written the film along with Meghna, have created such a cinematic screenplay that adeptly tackles the complexities of our time. We can't wait to embark on this journey.”

Daayra is co-written by Meghna Gulzar, Yash, and Sima, and marks Meghna’s next directorial venture after the 2023 biopic Sam Bahadur. The film is expected to delve into layered themes surrounding law, societal norms, and the shifting nature of justice, positioning it as a contemporary crime-drama that reflects current issues.

Randeep Hooda has opened up about a long-standing grievance from his past — being excluded from the promotions of Imtiaz Ali’s 2014 film Highway. In a candid chat on journalist Shubhankar Mishra’s YouTube podcast, the actor reflected on how his absence from the marketing campaign might have cost him significant career momentum at the time.

“Maine bhi voh dekha aur mujhe bhi samajh nahi aaya Ranbir Kapoor ka iss picture se kya lena dena hai,” Randeep said, referring to the curious presence of Ranbir Kapoor at the film’s promotional events. (“I saw it too, and I also didn’t understand what Ranbir Kapoor had to do with this film.”)

While Ranbir had no role in Highway, his presence during the film’s promotions drew attention. While the Kapoor boy and Alia Bhatt had started dating eventually, Hooda wasn’t sure if the actor’s involvement during the film, played any role in their love story. Randeep added thoughtfully, “Maybe that’s when their love story began, and if that moment brought them together, then I’m happy for them. I wish them all the best.”

The actor, who played the intense and pivotal role of Mahabir Bhati, shared that he was only called in for the promotional rounds towards the very end. “Last ke 1-2 din shayad traction nahi pakad rahi thi, toh mujhe leke gaye the. Shayad unki strategy shuru se thi ki Alia ke around karenge — waise bhi woh film female exploitation pe thi. Par jab film logon tak pohochhi, unko laga ki agar Mahabir Bhati nahi hota uss picture mein, toh picture waise nahi pakad paati.” (“In the last 1–2 days, maybe it wasn’t gaining traction, so they brought me in. Maybe their strategy from the beginning was to center it around Alia — after all, the film was about female exploitation. But when it reached the audience, they felt that if Mahabir Bhati wasn’t in the film, it wouldn’t have landed the same way.”)

Randeep’s performance in Highway was widely praised, but his absence from the spotlight during its promotional phase has clearly left a mark. On the work front, the actor was recently seen in Jaat, where he played the menacing antagonist Ranatunga opposite Sunny Deol. As always, Randeep delivered a powerful performance, and fans continue to root for his deserving place in the mainstream limelight.

The late filmmaker Yash Chopra was instrumental in resolving a heated dispute between Shah Rukh Khan and veteran actor Manoj Kumar, according to Kumar’s brother, Manish Goswami. The conflict arose over a scene in the 2007 blockbuster Om Shanti Om, directed by Farah Khan, which Manoj Kumar felt mocked his legacy. Following Kumar’s passing on April 4, 2025, Goswami shared details of the reconciliation in an interview with Vickey Lalwani on YouTube, shedding light on how Chopra’s diplomacy restored harmony.

Yash Chopra played an instrumental role in resolving Om Shanti Om controversy Manish recalled, “He did not pursue it. He said, ‘I don’t want any money. I want a defamation only for one rupee. But then, good sense prevailed among everybody and they all came and they met him. It was all sorted out.” He was further asked if Farah and Shah Rukh apologised. Manish said yes and added, “Yash Chopra saab played an instrumental role in that.” He also revealed that the late filmmaker was present when Farah and Shah Rukh came over and resolved the situation.

Speaking of Manoj Kumar’s reaction after the release of Om Shanti Om, Manish added, “He was quite disturbed by all these things. His stand was clear in his way. He knows best what he did, and the entire nation also agreed with that. It was very nice for all of them to come and apologise. Things have been sorted out.”

For the unversed, the issue stemmed from a comedic scene in Om Shanti Om, where Shah Rukh Khan’s character, Om Prakash Makhija, mimics Manoj Kumar’s signature style, including his iconic hand-on-face gesture, to sneak into a film premiere. The sequence, intended as a lighthearted tribute, offended Kumar. Feeling disrespected, Kumar initially considered legal action. Shah Rukh Khan’s Tribute to Manoj Kumar Following Manoj Kumar’s death at age 87, Shah Rukh Khan paid a heartfelt tribute on X, reflecting on the late actor’s contributions to Indian cinema. “Manoj Kumar ji made films that uplifted our country, our cinema, and focused on unity with unmatched sincerity. A legend in every sense,” Shah Rukh wrote, underscoring the respect he held for Kumar despite their past disagreement.

TV actress Chahatt Khanna, widely recognized for playing Ayesha Sharma in the hit show Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, recently shared a disturbing memory from her childhood—something she only understood clearly much later. In a heartfelt conversation with Hauterrfly, Chahatt recounted an incident with an older man from her neighbourhood, which she now recognizes as an instance of molestation.

Chahatt said, “This happened when I was quite young. There was an uncle in my neighbourhood—everyone knew him as a kind and gentle Bengali man. He would make me sit on his lap and offer me chocolates. At the time, I didn’t really think anything of it.”

It was only two years ago that Chahatt began to truly understand what had happened. “I met my childhood friend, and she told me about how she had filed a molestation case against the same uncle. That’s when it hit me—he used to do the same things to me. She was a little older, so she understood it back then. I didn’t.”

In the same interview, the actress also spoke about the persistent problem of exploitation within the entertainment industry, particularly highlighting the troubling use of the term “compromise” in film contracts—a word that often masks unsettling expectations placed on aspiring female actors.

Chahatt revealed, “When you’re a newcomer, people try to take advantage because they know you’re naive. “They’d say things like ‘Madam, compromise’—and you’d be left figuring out what that even means. It’s prevalent in both the South and Bollywood industries. The only difference is, in the South, they are more direct about it.”

She also revealed the disturbing truth about contracts that blatantly included exploitative clauses. She said, “I’ve seen contracts where it was written clearly—you have to compromise with the hero, the director, the producer… basically everyone except the spot boy. I’ve heard these stories, seen them unfold. Thankfully, no one ever crossed that line with me personally.”

Despite the darker side of the industry, Chahatt has managed to carve out a successful career over the years. She began her television journey with Hero: Bhakti Hi Shakti Hai and went on to appear in popular shows like Kumkum – Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan, Kaajjal and Qubool Hai. Her big breakthrough came with the role of Ayesha Sharma Kapoor in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain.

On the film front, she has featured in titles like Thank You, 7½ Phere: More Than a Wedding, Prassthanam, and more recently, Yaatris in 2023.

A video showing a poorly animated avatar of Kareena Kapoor Khan dancing at a rave party in Pakistan has stirred a mix of outrage and amusement among fans. Shared by a DJ, the clip features the animated version of the actor grooving on a screen with loud music playing in the background.

Hamza Haris, who describes himself as a “Quintessential Karachi Boi” in his bio, posted the video on Instagram along with a note explaining his creative process. “Been working on this track for a minute, and I finally wrapped it up just in time for the show,” he wrote. Haris said the idea struck while he was watching Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and decided to sample the iconic line by Pooh. “So I thought, why not have Kareena Kapoor dancing? It’s iconic. It’s chaotic. And honestly, no one’s done that at a rave before,” he added.

He added, “We pulled it off—and it was a hit. The crowd went wild. Just hoping Karan Johar and Kareena Kapoor Khan see this someday and get how funny, unexpected, and hype it was.”

The video begins with a text overlay that reads, “POV: You're at a rave in Karachi, Pakistan and Kareena Kapoor starts dancing in front of you.” It then cuts to the animated avatar of Kareena, dressed in what looks like a formal outfit, hair pulled back in a tight ponytail, dancing energetically on a screen.

One user commented, “This animation is sooooo bad, and why is she looking like she is going to work?” Another chimed in with, “Stop working on the track and animation both.”

A third person remarked, “Hell nah this is NOT Kareena Kapoor.” Another reacted with disbelief, saying, “What? How? Is this for real? No ways. Hahahaha.” Several others responded with just laughing out loud emojis, capturing the absurdity of the video.

Maddock Films is enjoying a winning streak with its recent productions. Following the success of last year's Stree 2 and the blockbuster performance of Chhaava, the production house continues to deliver box office hits. Their upcoming release is the romantic comedy Bhool Chuk Maaf, featuring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi. During a press conference held before the trailer launch, the head of Maddock Films shared insights on the current landscape of Bollywood and the kind of stories that deserve to be highlighted.

At the press conference, Dinesh Vijan, as reported by News18, emphasized the importance of collective success in the industry. He said, “It’s very important to wish for everyone to do well. Just us doing well is not enough. I can’t tell you what I am doing, and others are not doing. We learn from whatever we are doing. We are trying to understand that right now, we are not aspirational to the West. We are very Indian in how we think. The common man wants stories about them. They are coming to the theatre on Friday, a slightly elitist crowd is coming 8-9 days later. The people we are with and surrounded by are very important because they are going to influence the decision you make.”

He further added, “I am fortunate that my writers and directors are grounded and real people and are connected to the new Bharat. It is very important to know who we are because the new Bharat is proud of who they are.”

Bhool Chuk Maaf will be Maddock Films’ third release this year, following the success of Sky Force featuring Akshay Kumar and last week’s Chhaava starring Vicky Kaushal. The rom-com is scheduled to hit theatres on May 9.

Bollywood actors Shah Rukh Khan and Sanjay Dutt have recently ventured into the alcohol business, and now Ajay Devgn has joined the league with an impressive debut in the global alcobev space. He has introduced a premium 21-year-old single malt named GlenJourneys, priced at Rs. 50,000. Known for his diverse roles over the years, Ajay is now also an investor in Cartel Bros—the company behind the globally acclaimed Glenwalk, launched last year in collaboration with Sanjay Dutt.

In an open chat with CNBC-TV18, the Bollywood star discussed his personal journey with alcohol, the rising international acclaim for Indian single malts, and his latest move into the whisky industry.

Ajay Devgn has come on board Cartel Bros as both an investor and a partner for GlenJourneys. Best known for iconic roles like Vijay Salgaonkar in Drishyam, Devgn candidly shared that he once had a reputation for being a heavy drinker. “I’ve enjoyed drinking good alcohol ever since I was legally qualified to drink,” he admitted.

Devgn experienced a turning point when he chose to give up alcohol completely. “I went to a wellness spa, and since then, I didn’t feel like drinking at all,” he recalled. After staying sober for a year, he gradually began exploring more refined spirits and developed an appreciation for single malts. “Now, I only have two small drinks a day. The bold flavour of the malt is something I love,” he said.

The first release of the brand includes only 1,200 bottles, which will be rolled out in two phases and sold exclusively through travel retail in India and internationally. Devgn highlighted that the emphasis isn’t on pricing but on delivering a niche, high-quality product for those who appreciate craftsmanship. With a price tag of Rs. 50,000–60,000 in India and around Rs. 30,000 globally, GlenJourneys is aimed at connoisseurs as a premium, limited-edition whisky.

Indian single malts have been steadily gaining global acclaim, winning honours at renowned international awards. This growing demand provided the perfect opportunity for Devgn to enter the whisky space. Ajay recalled, “I’m more of a fashion guy, but when I met my partner in the form of Moksh Sani and tasted the whisky, I was hooked. That’s when we decided to create something together.” That moment sparked the idea for a collaboration, ultimately leading to the launch of GlenJourneys, a premium single malt whisky brand.

Looking ahead, Devgn has ambitious plans for GlenJourneys. “We want to take GlenJourneys worldwide,” he stated. The next release, expected in August, will showcase whisky aged in cask finishes, with older expressions planned for the future. The broader goal is to position GlenJourneys as a global brand, with travel retail serving as a key distribution channel.

Ajay added, “Brands are built in travel retail, and once you see our product on shelves at airports or duty-free shops, that’s when people really take notice.”

Purab, how do you look back at My Brother… Nikhil? Twenty years of My Brother… Nikhil—it's been a long time since the film was made, and yet it continues to hold a very strong place in my heart. I still remember reading the script; it was one of the most beautiful scripts I’ve ever come across. Beyond its important message, especially at a time when very few people in India were talking about such subjects, the film stood out for its storytelling and sensitivity.

So you had no trepidation about playing a gay man? Not at all. The subject was crucial, and I had no reservations whatsoever. The way Onir chose to tell the story, using a docudrama style, was quite innovative for that time. It felt like a new-age film, very ahead of its time. And then to have a banner like Yash Raj Films step in to release it—it all came together to mark My Brother… Nikhil as a landmark film.

It was very special? Absolutely. It holds incredibly special memories for me. At that point, I had done a couple of films, but this one really felt like something different. The experience of filming it felt like a family coming together. It was truly an independent film, made possible through the goodwill and vision of Sanjay Suri and Onir.

Onir told me it felt like a real family while shooting? Yes, Onir and Sanjay brought everyone together like a family. We shot in Goa, which in 2005 was still quite non-touristy. We went during the monsoon—late August through September—and that setting added a beautiful atmosphere to the film. I remember those days so vividly; it really was a collaborative and heartfelt process.

Have you watched My Brother… Nikhil recently? Yes, I revisit it often, especially when I want to remind myself of the kind of meaningful work I’ve done. It’s a film that continues to leave me with a very warm, fulfilling feeling. I have the DVD, and I also stream it online from time to time. Even now, living in the Western world, when people ask me to recommend one of my films, the first one that comes to mind is My Brother… Nikhil. It’s a film I’ll always cherish—20 years on, 25 years on, even 30 years from now.

Not too many fans of Lata Mangeshkar, Madan Mohan, and Manoj Kumar know that one of Lataji’s most iconic songs, Lag Ja Gale Se, was almost dropped from its parent film Woh Kaun Thi by director Raj Khosla. Recalling the experience of shooting for Woh Kaun Thi, Manoj Kumar once revealed, “I remember the music composer Madan Mohan Saab, a very sensitive artiste, was shattered. He came to complain, ‘Manoj Bhai, look at the composition that your director has rejected.’ I heard the song and immediately knew its potential. I took it back to Raj Khosla and made him hear it with me. At the end of the song, he got up quietly, went out of the room to get his chappals, came back inside, and began hitting himself with them. Madan Mohan and I were aghast. ‘Yeh aap kya kar rahe hain?’ Raj said he was hitting himself for being such a fool to reject a composition like Lag Ja Gale Se.”

Manoj Kumar was in an unusually confessional mood. He even revealed that the dialogues and scenes in Woh Kaun Thi were actually written by him. “Yes, I admit I wrote many of the scenes and dialogues. I’ll tell you how it happened. I had reached Shimla for the shoot. The song Shokh Nazar Ki Bijliyan was filmed on Helenji and me. I felt something was missing. After the shoot, I went to director Raj Khosla’s room. My leading lady Sadhanaji and the producer N. N. Sippy were also present. I told Raj, ‘Kuch jam nahin raha (something is off). The lines need to be changed.’ And I handed over some papers with the revised dialogues I had written. Raj Khosla read them, quietly tore up the original dialogues, and threw them into the fireplace, saying, ‘From tomorrow, we’ll be using Manoj’s lines.’ That’s how I ghost-wrote the scenes and dialogues in this ghost story.”

Why didn’t Manoj Kumar take credit for his contribution? “Arrey yaar, it didn’t matter. I didn’t do it for the name. I did it to improve the film. During those days, we worked on every film like a family. Sadhana, Raj Khosla, Madan Mohan, and I were one family during Woh Kaun Thi. We didn’t think about who should get credit. We worked like a team of cooks in a kitchen, putting together the best meal possible.”

Tamannaah Bhatia, Vasishta N Simha, writer Sampath Nandi, director Ashok Teja and others attended the trailer launch of the Pan-India film Odela 2 at Mumbai's iconic Gaiety-Galaxy aka G7 single screen complex in Mumbai. Hundreds of Tamannaah fans had assembled. The actress, who looked stunning in her red dress, was overwhelmed by the love for her and Odela 2.

Odela 2 is primarily a Telugu film, and the home market of Telangana was recently in the news when its state government fell nearly 400 trees in the Kancha Gachibowli area near the University of Hyderabad for IT and infrastructure projects. The students at the university staged a massive protest and the matter even reached the Supreme Court.

Tamannaah Bhatia was asked about this, and she said, “We are artists. We make cinema and are here to entertain you all. Whenever we have to raise a point, we have to do so in an entertaining format. Jo ho raha hai, na usse aap badal sakte hai aur naa main badal sakti hoon. But our attempt is that what we feel and the message that needs to be conveyed to people, we do so through cinema. Because someone, somewhere will get impacted by it.”

She added, “I don’t mean to say that things can change in a jiffy. But the idea is that we convey an impactful story and hope that it can influence you positively. Usse hum sab ka bhala hoga.”

At the end of the event, writer Sampath Nandi said, “Before signing off, I’d like to mention a few things about Tamannaah. We shot in peak summer and yet, she did not wear chappals. She never consumed non-veg food on sets. That is the kind of dedication she has put in for Odela 2. The film will give you a great, theatrical experience. Do go to cinemas on April 17 and have a blast!”

Kajol and Ajay Devgn are considered among the top actors in the Hindi film industry. Naturally, people assume their children would inherit both their talent and passion for acting, and eventually step into films. However, Kajol recently made a surprising statement regarding her daughter Nysa's potential Bollywood debut.

At a recent News18 event, Kajol was asked about her daughter Nysa’s possible Bollywood debut. The actor firmly denied any such plans, saying, “Definitely not. I think she is 22 now, or about to be, and she has decided that she’s not entering Bollywood at the moment.”

Kajol, known for Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, was also asked what advice she’d offer to aspiring actors. She said she prefers seeing new talent embrace their individuality instead of following everyone’s suggestions. She added that people often advise changes to one’s physical appearance, which can be quite disheartening.

Kajol said, “Pehle baat main yeh kehna chahungi ki please don’t take advise from everybody. Most importantly ki kyunki agar aap puchenge mujhe kya karna chahiye toh 100 log khare hoke bolenge tumhe yeh karna chahiye, tumhe apna naak badlo, tumhe apna haath badlo, baalon ka colour badlo, yeh karo vo karo.”

Kajol pointed out that it’s those who stand out from the crowd who are remembered, not those who simply blend in. She emphasized that the key to success—whether in acting or on social media—is the ability to create a unique identity and carve out your own space.

On the work front, Kajol’s next project is the mythological horror film Maa, directed by Vishal Furia, who is currently making headlines for Chhorii 2 starring Nushrratt Bharuccha. The first look of Maa presents Kajol as a fierce mother determined to protect her daughter, played by Kherin Sharma. The film also stars Ronit Roy and Indraneil Sengupta in key roles and is slated for release on June 27.

He’d cycle to the set, cycle back, work out at the gym, and then stand the whole day." He expressed admiration for Salman's vitality, stating, "I genuinely feel he’s only 5–10 years older than me. The buzz surrounding Sidharth Anand’s upcoming directorial King continues to intensify as fresh speculation arises about Deepika Padukone’s role in the much-anticipated action drama. With a stellar ensemble cast including Shah Rukh Khan and his daughter Suhana Khan, King—written by Sujoy Ghosh—has already sparked massive curiosity. Now, all eyes are on what character Deepika Padukone will portray in this cinematic spectacle.

While early reports suggested that Deepika might play Suhana’s on-screen mother, others hinted at a possible cameo. However, according to a Bollywood Hungama exclusive, one thing is certain—Deepika is part of the film. What remains unclear is the nature of her role, which is still under wraps.

A well-placed industry source revealed exclusively to Bollywood Hungama, “Yes, Deepika Padukone is definitely part of King. However, the details of her role are being kept extremely confidential at this point. There have been discussions about her playing Suhana’s mother, but there’s also talk of her having a more surprising and pivotal role that ties deeply into Shah Rukh Khan’s character arc. The makers want to keep the intrigue alive.”

Given Sidharth Anand and Deepika’s successful collaborations in the past—most notably Pathaan and Fighter—her presence in King is expected to be impactful, whether brief or central. The mother-daughter angle with Suhana Khan could lend emotional depth to the story, especially if the film explores themes of legacy, mentorship, or revenge. On the other hand, a stylish cameo could serve as a narrative twist or even set up a larger cinematic universe in Anand’s signature style.

Yet, knowing the creative minds behind the project, it's also entirely possible that Deepika plays a role that defies expectations—perhaps an intelligence officer, an antagonist, or a mysterious figure from Shah Rukh Khan's past. With Sujoy Ghosh’s knack for complex storytelling and Sidharth Anand’s flair for spectacle, nothing is off the table.

Whatever the case, Deepika’s involvement only raises the stakes for King, turning it into one of the most awaited releases on the Bollywood horizon.

Biplab Goswami, the screenwriter behind the acclaimed Bollywood film Laapataa Ladies, has firmly denied allegations of plagiarism that have recently cast a shadow over the movie’s reputation. Responding to claims that the film bears striking similarities to the 2019 Arabic short film Burqa City, Goswami presented documented proof of his script’s originality, asserting that the story was conceived and registered years before the controversy emerged.

The Kiran Rao-directed Laapataa Ladies, which was India’s official entry for the 2025 Oscars, has been under scrutiny after social media users pointed out parallels between its plot and that of Burqa City. Both stories revolve around mistaken identities due to veiled attire—ghunghats in the Indian film and burqas in the Arabic short—leading to accusations that the former borrowed heavily from the latter. The debate intensified earlier this week, with some netizens labeling the film as unoriginal and questioning its credibility as an Oscar contender.

In a detailed statement shared on social media, Goswami addressed the accusations head-on. “Our story, characters, and dialogues are 100% original,” he wrote. “The screenplay for Laapataa Ladies was developed over many years, with a detailed synopsis registered under the working title Two Brides with the Screenwriters Association on July 3, 2014—well before Burqa City was released in 2019.” To bolster his defense, he released registration documents as evidence, emphasizing that the narrative stemmed from extensive research into gender dynamics and rural Indian life.

Goswami argued that the concept of mistaken identities due to veils is a timeless storytelling trope, used by literary giants like Shakespeare and Tagore, and not exclusive to any single work. “The allegations of plagiarism are baseless,” he continued. “They undermine not just my efforts as a writer but the hard work of the entire team that brought this film to life.” He highlighted the unique characters, setting, and social commentary in Laapataa Ladies as distinct from any supposed inspiration.

The controversy has stirred mixed reactions online. While some fans have rallied behind Goswami, praising the film’s heartfelt execution and cultural resonance, others remain skeptical, pointing to specific scenes—like a police station sequence—that echo moments in Burqa City. This isn’t the first time Laapataa Ladies has faced such claims; last year, filmmaker Ananth Mahadevan suggested its premise resembled his 1999 telefilm Ghunghat Ke Pat Khol. However, no official response from director Kiran Rao or producer Aamir Khan has been issued regarding the latest allegations.

Released in March 2024, Laapataa Ladies earned widespread acclaim for its blend of humor and poignant social critique, securing 10 awards at the IIFA 2025. Despite failing to make the Oscar shortlist, the film—produced by Aamir Khan Productions, Kindling Pictures, and Jio Studios—continues to be celebrated for its performances by Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, and Sparsh Shrivastav.

Your memories of Detective Byomkesh Bakshy? I have very fond memories of Detective Byomkesh Bakshy — the way we constructed that era, the look and feel of it, the city of Calcutta. Even now, it's difficult for viewers to figure out which parts of the Calcutta shown in the film were actually Calcutta, and which were sets built in the suburbs of Bombay. That’s a challenge I often throw at people — especially those who’ve held on to Byomkesh Bakshy as something they'd love to see again. Many of those who watched it as teenagers in 2015 are now adults. A decade later, they’re looking for a more mature version of Byomkesh — something that picks up after his first adventure.

Are you often asked to make more Byomkesh films? All the time. Whether it’s at airports, screenings, or just walking around the city, people come up to me and ask, “When are you making the next Byomkesh?” I try to answer as honestly as I can. And every time, those fond memories come rushing back. The world of Byomkesh Bakshy, the creation of 1942 — it remains deeply dear to me. The way my team worked to bring that world to life is something I’ll always cherish.

Sushant Singh Rajput played such a key role in bringing that world alive. Sushant… There’s a deep sadness in all of us. He was one of those bright hopes — someone who came in from the outside. He wasn’t a star child, not part of the inner clique or Bollywood aristocracy. Yet he completely won the hearts and minds of the audience. His passing was a huge blow. We lost something precious. Bollywood lost part of its charm and innocence — and, with him, a wider spectrum of what leading men could be. That loss will never truly be filled. It’s a gap that will remain — for a long, long time.

When is the next Byomkesh coming? I'm still reading Byomkesh, still exploring the next adaptations that could be brought to life on screen. I'm writing, adapting, and imagining a Byomkesh who's a few years older and more mature than the one audience met in the first film. But honestly, I really miss Sushant.

To amp up the entertainment quotient of their upcoming comedy Bhool Chuk Maaf, the makers have decided to add two brand-new songs to the film’s soundtrack. Starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi, the time-loop wedding comedy is now set to hit theatres on May 9, instead of its original April 10 release date.

New Songs to Add Energy & Charm According to a report by Mid-Day, director Karan Sharma and producer Dinesh Vijan felt that adding two more songs would enhance the mass appeal and musical energy of the film, which follows Rajkummar Rao’s character reliving the same day—his wedding eve—over and over again.

A source close to the production revealed: “Of the two songs, Rajkummar and Wamiqa filmed one on March 29 at a studio in Mira Road. A set replicating a small-town street was constructed for this upbeat number.” This track is being described as a vibrant, peppy promotional song composed by Tanishk Bagchi, with choreography by Vijay Ganguly and styling by Sheetal Sharma. Romance in Varanasi: Second Song Set for Mid-April Shoot The team is currently prepping for the second song, which will be shot in Varanasi, the film’s primary setting. Slated to be filmed in mid-April, this track will have a “romantic bachelorette party” vibe, perfectly complementing the wedding theme of the story. The chemistry between Rajkummar and Wamiqa is expected to be a highlight of the sequence. Why the Release Was Postponed The update on these additional songs comes just days after the announcement that Bhool Chuk Maaf had been postponed to May 9. Initially scheduled for release on April 10, the makers decided to delay the film to avoid a clash with a crowded release calendar. As reported by Bollywood Hungama, the original release week featured films like Sunny Deol’s Jaat and Phule, Salman Khan’s Sikandar (March 30), Akshay Kumar’s Kesari Chapter 2 (April 18), and Emraan Hashmi’s Ground Zero (April 25).

Bollywood’s versatile heartthrob Vicky Kaushal steps into a magical new avatar in Shoojit Sircar’s upcoming fantasy drama, Ek Jaadugar. The first look poster dropped yesterday, and it's already casting a spell on fans and cinephiles alike.

A Magical Makeover for Vicky Kaushal The poster features Vicky Kaushal in an enchanting magician’s get-up — a rich green velvet suit adorned with intricate embroidery, a flamboyant emerald bowtie, and a tall top hat with a green feather. His dramatic curled mustache and mischievous glint evoke the classic illusionist charm, blending vintage flair with cinematic elegance.

He holds a glowing wand with a burst of blue light, seemingly conjuring a swirling green crystal orb that floats above his palm. Surrounding him are visual cues straight out of a magician’s playbook — a white dove mid-flight, a rabbit leaping from a hat, and playing cards soaring through the air. The entire scene is set against a vintage circus or theatre backdrop, complete with velvet curtains, heightening the fantastical tone of the film.
