After the first two instalments turning out to be successful, there is keen interest for the third part of Rohit Shetty’s cop drama Singham Again. The franchise revolves around the adventures of the super cop Bajirao Singham, played by Ajay Devgn. The makers yesterday revealed that the film will be going on floors in July 2023 and release during Diwali 2024. By opting for this release date, Singham Again will now be clashing with the Kartik Aaryan starrer Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. The makers of the third film in the horror comedy franchise revealed the release date for the film earlier this month. Kartik shared an announcement video of the film on social media where he appeared as his character Rooh Baba. Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan recently wrapped the schedule of his next project, Fighter, which is India’s first aerial action film. It marks his reunion with Bang Bang and War director Siddharth Anand and it sees him star opposite Deepika Padukone for the first time. The actor says it is a huge-scale project and sees it as a good opportunity. Speaking about Hrithik Roshan’s role to India Today, Siddharth Anand said, “With Hrithik, this is my third film — Bang Bang and War had really different characters. Rajveer and Kabir are two different people and personalities, completely opposite. And Patty, the character he’s playing in Fighter, he’s made it his own. He’s like a chameleon, he just adapts and becomes that character for that one year (when he’s shooting the film). So he can bring a certain genuineness to it that can last over a franchise, it’s not just made up for that moment, he becomes that person. So Patty is really something Hrithik has really worked hard on, different from Kabir and Rajveer. It is really exciting to see him transform like that. It is like a dream for a director to have an actor who just submits himself to that film for so long. He is a joy.” Talking about Deepika Padukone’s role, he added, “Like I said, my female parts are really strong, and very exciting. Deepika is also playing an Air Force officer (in Fighter). She’s a part of the elite unit of the Air Force, and it’s based on a lot of reality and authenticity. Something that Deepika has also bitten into. It is something that she’s not played before. And honestly, it’s a lot like her in real life, the character that she’s playing. She’s so much fun on set and she’s translating that character to be a real good takkar to Hrithik’s character, so it is very exciting. The Oscar-winning director of film Elizabeth, Shekhar Kapur, believes that SS Rajamouli demonstrated that we don't necessarily need to wait for external reinforcement in the form of accolades. Shekhar Kapur shares his views on winning Oscars this year. He told Hindustan Times, “I was waiting for this! After Elizabeth, which was nominated in seven categories at the Oscars, I was waiting for other filmmakers to take it up, and thank God for that. It’s been years. And you shouldn’t discount the fact that All That Breathes from India didn’t win- a nomination is as good as a win. It’s a beautiful film. So two heartfelt documentaries from India, and a feature film like RRR that has kind of taken the West by storm. It won Best Original song. It was a hardcore Indian, melodramatic celebration of what we do best.” He also emphasises how important it was for the Oscars to accommodate public demand. “It cannot just remain art cinema, then it will fall by the wayside. Rajamouli won in other awards, over directors like Steven Spielberg. Internationally they have opened their arms,” Kapur stated. When asked if we (Indians) wait for international validation before recognising our own talent back home or whether awards like the Oscars wake us up to the fact that we have such great content being made, to which he replied, “I think we do, and we shouldn’t. I remember, when Elizabeth was nominated for so many Oscars, everybody said ‘wow look at this director’ I said ‘wait a minute, I am the same guy who made Bandit Queen, Masoom, Mr India. Why am I suddenly this amazing director because the West has come up and said he is amazing?’ I have constantly said this, that we don’t need validation. It’s great to get an Oscar, suddenly the world knows about you, you get opportunities to work internationally. But I don’t think we need validation, and nobody has proven it better than Rajamouli. He has proved it so well through such an Indian way of making movies and made it so celebratory that the whole of West is saying ‘look at this’.” Expressing his grief over the demise of late actor-director Satish Kaushik, Kapur stated, “My relationship with Satish Kaushik... because he was from National School of Drama, and because he was an amazing actor, he understood acting. People used to say ‘Oh My God, if Shekhar Kapur is on a honeymoon, Satish will go with him’! That’s how people saw us. He used to live in my house for some time, we lived together. His greatest asset was his deep understanding of people, and you could see that in his performances. It came from staying at NSD, where Ebrahim Alkazi was the teacher that time. He trained them to look at the world and understand. Nobody knows that Satish was a brilliant mathematician as well. Actor-choreographer Salman Yusuff Khan, on Wednesday, took to his social media handle and dropped a video alleging that he was harassed and asked to speak in Kannada by an immigration officer at the Bengaluru international airport. Salman went on his Instagram Live to narrate the “disturbing” incident where he felt harassed by the officer. Along with the video, he shared the details of the incident in the caption as well. He tagged Kempegowda International Airport and wrote, “On my way to Dubai and I meet this immigration officer who speaks to me in Kannada .. and I in my broken Kannada try to tell him that I understand the language but can’t speak so well to which he continues to speak in Kannada and shows me my passport and points out my name and my birthplace and my father’s name and his birthplace and has the audacity to tell me that .. you and your father are born in Bangalore and u can’t speak Kannada.” The dancer-choreographer also added that when he tried to defend himself saying that he can speak Hindi instead, the officer still insisted that he could “suspect” Salman “for anything”. As he continued, Khan added, “I told him … TRY ME . Kapil Sharma is all set to return to movies with Zwigato in which he will be essaying the role of a common delivery man. Amidst promoting the same, the actor-comedian recalled the time when he was in depression and started missing out shoots, cancelling them, and how his work had suffered when he was undergoing a bad phase. In the same statement, the actor expressed his gratitude towards superstar Shah Rukh Khan who reached out to him and encouraged him to take the right path. In an interaction with Aaj Tak, Kapil Sharma recalled the times when he used to cancel shoots and the actor was asked if this behavior left any of the star angry. Responding to it, Kapil added, “Nobody got angry. The format of my show is such that I cannot be late even if I tried. We have to shoot multiple segments throughout the day… But yes, there were times when I backed out at the last moment because I didn’t think I could go through with it… “ Continuing further about the SRK incident, Kapil said, “When Shah Rukh Khan’s shoot got cancelled, he met me three or four days later. He had come to the same studio for something. Maybe, as an artist, he understood what was happening. He is a superstar, after all, and he has seen everything in this industry. He called me to his car, we sat for an hour, and talked. He asked me, ‘Drugs leta hai?‘. I told him I don’t take drugs, but I no longer feel like working. He told me some very nice things, counselled me. But this is one of those situations that you can’t improve unless you yourself want to.” Kapil Sharma, who continues to host the popular show The Kapil Sharma Show on Sony TV, was last seen in the film Firangi in 2017. Actor-comedian Kapil Sharma is well-known for his comic timing and has previously worked in comedic movies. For the past few years, he has experienced enormous growth in popularity. When questioned about Shahana's persona, Kapil (playing Shahana) responded, “I am playing the role of Pratima in the movie. As you know I was born and raised in Delhi, and this is my second movie with Nandita, I earlier worked with her in Firaaq, and we have a great relationship. Shah Rukh Khan and Atlee will be coming together for the first time in one-of-its-kind Indian film Jawan that will feature a mix of South and Bollywood celebrities. With the film featuring many firsts including the Bollywood debut of Nayanthara, yet another interesting piece of news has come to light regarding the film. Shah Rukh Khan and Sanjay Dutt will be coming together for this action entertainer, however, the latter will be doing a cameo. In a recent Peeping Moon report, a source has confirmed the developments and was quoted saying, "The casting for this brief but vital role has been quite difficult for Atlee, as it required an A-list star who had never appeared on screen alongside Shah Rukh. Allu Arjun was earlier offered this role, but he turned it down due to a scheduling conflict and his commitment to the highly anticipated Pushpa: The Rule. Shortly after Allu’s refusal, the makers went to Sanju Baba, and now he has agreed to do this role for SRK." This is not the first time where Sanjay will be doing a special appearance in a Shah Rukh Khan film. In the past, he has made a brief appearance in films like Ra One and Om Shanti Om. Talking about Jawan, not only has Sanjay Dutt agreed to do the role but he will also soon start shooting in Mumbai. As of now, the actor is in Kashmir shooting for a major schedule of Thalapathy Vijay starrer Leo. Soon he will be returning to the maximum city to shoot for this sequence in a studio. The industry woke up to the sad news that Satish Kaushik passed away suddenly. The actor-director had earned a place in the hearts of the viewers' thanks to his memorable roles in several films. He was also a director and handled memorable and successful films like Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain (1999), Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai (2000), Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai (2001), Tere Naam (2003) etc. He began his journey as a director with Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja (1993). A lot was expected from this Anil Kapoor-Sridevi starrer as it marked the reunion of the duo and producer Boney Kapoor after the very successful and acclaimed Mr India (1987). Sadly, the film bombed big time at the box office. In a few interactions, Satish Kaushik spoke about it in his trademark funny style. Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja was shot lavishly and boasted of a challenging action scene on a trip that took 21 days to be shot. In an interview with Mumbai Mirror seven years ago, Satish Kaushik revealed that nine premieres of the film were planned in nine cities. The third premiere was held in Hyderabad and Satish said that this is when news came in that the film was not doing well. He was in a hotel and he was so distraught by this news that he wanted to jump from the window. Satish Kaushik stated, “I got very upset and I wanted to jump out of the window of the hotel. I was newly married at that time and my wife got very worried. But of course, nothing much would have happened anyway if I had jumped — for, the window was on the first floor. And right below the window, there was a buffet laid out for dinner. Had I jumped I would have landed in some bhindi ki subzi!” In this same interview, he also noted that “the sheer ambition of the film took a toll”. Meanwhile, Satish Kaushik’s next directorial Prem (1995), which served as the debut of Sanjay Kapoor, also tanked. In another interview, given to Bombay Times in 2018, Satish Kaushik joked, “During the 80s, when Boney first signed me as an actor, he offered me Rs 201. Anil Kapoor told him that he’d seen how talented I was during Woh Saat Din (1983), so he told him to give me Rs 500 instead. Bollywood Ranbir Kapoor has been busy promoting Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar. The film, released in theatres today on the occasion of Holi, marks his return to the romantic comedy genre after Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. The film stars Shraddha Kapoor and is helmed by Luv Ranjan. However, he hasn't signed any project apart from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal and Brahmastra sequels by Ayan Mukerji. The actor says that Ayan is already writing the sequel and the project is expected to go on floors by year end. Speaking to Pinkvilla, Ranbir Kapoor shared, "We have to make Brahmastra 2 and 3. Ayan (Mukerji, director) is writing the film right now and hopefully, we will start it by the end of this year or next year." Last week, reports came in that two youths sneaked into Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic bungalow Mannat. They were later caught and handed over to the police. Now, reports have emerged that the teenagers had remained hidden in one of the rooms in the bungalow and had given Shah Rukh Khan the shock of his life. As per a report in The Times Of India, the names of these trespassers are Pathan Sahil Salim Khan, aged 18, and Ram Khushuva, aged 19. While the former is a labourer, the latter is a vegetable seller. Both belong to Bharuch, Gujarat and they came to Mumbai on March 1 to see Shah Rukh Khan. On March 2, at 3:00 am, they reached Mannat and taking advantage of the scaffolding erected for repairs, they jumped inside the bungalow. The report further states that they entered the make-up room and remained there till 10:30 am. This is when Shah Rukh Khan entered this room and saw the duo. As expected, the superstar was left shocked and he immediately called a staffperson from his housekeeping team. They were handed to the security team and later were taken away by the police. The police kept them in their custody for a day and realized that they were no evidence of malicious intent. On Saturday, March 4, their parents arrived in Mumbai and secured their bail. A payment of Rs. 20,000 was done to release them from police custody. The parents claimed that they had no idea about the plans of the duo to come to Mumbai. Meawhile, the report claimed that Pathan Sahil Salim Khan and Ram Khushuva suffered minor injuries on their nose while scaling the compound wall of Mannat. They encouraged me to be in the field that I was in and they really looked after me while I used to have those grilling schedules and was working day and night. Rani realized that by working, she would contribute to the improvement of her family's financial status, which was not excellent at the time. She said, “When I grew up, an offer came my way. Maybe I didn't realize at that time, the situation in my family was such that there was a need of financial help. But I didn't think of this much as this. No child thinks their parents aren't doing well.” She added, “The kind of lifestyle that my parents tried to give me and my brother, it was quite comfortable. His wish finally came true with Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, which is all set to release day after tomorrow in cinemas. The romantic comedy sees him cast opposite Shraddha Kapoor for the first time. But Bollywood Hungama has learnt that even before that film hits the screens, Luv has offered two more films to Ranbir. One of the two projects is the keenly looked forward biopic of the former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly. The film has been in the news ever since it was announced in 2021. Ranbir also recently said that he is keen to don the role of the cricketer who is nicknamed Dada. Luv, however, won’t be directing the film, which is in the developmental stage right now. He will produce the project as he has the rights. The second film also sounds equally exciting. This yet-untitled movie will see Luv venturing into the action genre for the first. Interestingly, he was keen to cast Ajay Devgn with Ranbir in the film, but it got dropped because of date issues. Both actors were cast as brothers in the film. Coming back to Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, the film is all set to release in cinemas during Holi on March 8. Sanjay Dutt is among those few Bollywood actors, who have also impressed the audience from the southern part of India. For the unversed, Dutt marked his debut in the Kannada film industry with K.G.F: Chapter 2. Recently, in a chat, Sanjay opened up on the Bollywood vs South debate and stated that segregating cinema is not right. It all happened when the Free Press Journal asked Sanju to comment on it. In his response, Dutt asserted, “I don't see this as South and Bollywood and North or East. Every movie made in this country is part of one cinema, which is Indian cinema. It should be like that and nothing else. We all are part of this one country, it's one team. Segregating cinema is not right. It's a whole industry and one big family, which is a good thing for Indian cinema. We represent the Indian film industry and everything is part of it. I don't believe in South, East, North, and West, it's all one family.” In the same interaction, Sanjay also spoke about cinema evolving over the decades, and said, “There used to be a time when we would have one paper and we would sign a film. There were so many insecurities and risks of finances, but that's not the case now. There are proper channels and you have everything documented. We would get the script and go in front of the camera right after that but now you have an entire script with you and you have practice sessions to prepare for your role.” He further added, “I am also very happy with the way we are using technology in films. We should never decline technology because that's the future. I am very happy to see films like Pathaan, and RRR doing well at the box office. These are fantastic films and movies like these should work. Last year turned out to be the most eventful year of Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor’s life with multiple happy news. Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor revealed her vulnerable side in the most emotionally open conversation she has ever had at We The Women, the flagship festival curated by journalist Barkha Dutt. At the forum’s sixth edition, held on the ground in Jaipur and live-streamed on the digital platform Mojo Story, Janhvi Kapoor spoke candidly about coping with the loss of her mother Sridevi, seeking validation from the audience, and dealing with hurtful comments about her privilege. The conversation took an especially emotional turn as she spoke about Sridevi’s death and how she turned to work as a distraction. "I don't think I coped with it for a very long time. I don't think I went about it in the way I should have gone about it…. When we had her my life was completely different and when we lost her, I was bang in the middle of the shoot of my first film. It was almost as if the life I was leading before her death was an idealistic and fictional life… It was during COVID when I was forced to spend time with myself that I realised how damaged I was. I was almost like a zombie.. on a hamster wheel doing things I didn't even need to do, in a race that I didn't need to be in with myself and seeking the company of people that I didn't really even want in my life just to fill a void”, she said, choking up. She told Barkha Dutt of “the strange guilt” she felt in the aftermath of her mother’s death. “When I lost Mom, of course, it was this huge tragedy and a hole in my heart but there was this horrible feeling that because of my privilege and being told my entire life that I have got things so easy .. there was this weird guilt that I deserve this horrible horrible thing that's happened to me… This feeling was such a weird thing to process as a young girl,” the actor said. Janhvi said that she later realised that seeking validation from her audience after her mother’s death was displaced grief. "I think the validation and approval that I sought from my mother, I started seeking that from them.. Not everyone in the world is going to love you like they are your mother." When Barkha Dutt asked Janhvi Kapoor what she remembers when she closes her eyes and thinks of her mother, she said, “I just remember her calling me Ladoo. Every time I am on set and I am in front of the camera. I feel like in front of the camera is the closest I'll ever be to her [my mother]. That film was an emotional saga as it was based on the life of Captain Vikram Batra, a martyr of the 1999 Indo-Pak war. Ranbir Kapoor has been busy promoting Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar. The film, which is releases in theatres in two days, marks his return to the romantic comedy genre. It also marks his third release within a year’s time. The actor misses his father, the late Rishi Kapoor, before his film’s release a lot. During the promotions, the actor admitted that he got emotional after seeing his father Rishi Kapoor in YRF’s docu-series The Romantics. Rishi Kapoor did his last interview for Netflix’s The Romantics, a docu-series celebrating filmmaker Yash Chopra, YRF’s legacy and its impact on Indian pop culture over the last 50 years! He had closely collaborated with Yash Chopra and then Aditya Chopra in cult hits like Kabhi Kabhie, Chandni, Jab Tak Hai Jaan (in which he was paired with his wife Neetu Kapoor), Fanaa, Hum Tum, etc. It marked his last on-screen camera interview after which he was admitted to the hospital and within a month’s time, he had passed away fighting the battle of leukemia. Post-pandemic, cinema halls are finally witnessing audiences heading to the theatres. While the theatre experience is back, cinemas have been re-releasing movies on special occasions. On Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and late Dilip Kumar’s birthdays last year, cinemas re-released many of their iconic films for a limited time as fans flocked to the theatres to relive memories. Just this Valentine’s Day, movies like Jab We Met, Tamasha and many more movies were welcomed with open arms. It does seem like cinemas would like to continue this experience for fans and interestingly, this may increase the theatre going audience. With many films re-releasing, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar star Ranbir Kapoor was asked if he wants any of his films to be back on silver screen, with many wanting to re-watch Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year. As Ranbir Kapoor is busy with promotions of his upcoming Holi release, the actor does feel cinema and content will always find its audience – if not during release then later on OTT. During a group interaction on Sunday, Bollywood Hungama asked Ranbir Kapoor if he wants any of his movies to be re-released on the silver screen and given a chance again for the audience to experience it, he says, “Cinema and content is such that it always somewhere finds its audience, if not, at the time of the release, maybe 10 years down the line. I remember, I mean I cannot compare that to my film but a film like say Guru Dutt’s film Kaagaz Ke Phool (1959), which was a very big disaster when it was released, or Mera Naam Joker. But, today, Mera Naam Joker is the highest-selling film for RK Films. And you know, whenever it comes on television, or whenever people want the rights of RK Films, they speak about Mera Naam Joker. So films have their own destiny, and films will always find their audience.” Adding to that, Ranbir Kapoor picked Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year as the movie he would pick from his filmography that didn’t get much appreciation from the audience when it was released in theatres back in 2009. He says, “If I have to choose a film that didn’t work in my filmography, I would probably say Rocket Singh also. I don't think it's a very entertaining film. I also believe that if a film doesn't work when it releases and the audience is the key and they're never wrong, so there must be something wrong in the film at that moment, and it didn't work. But in hindsight, if you're sitting at home and if you watch Rocket Singh on OTT, maybe it's a great watch. Not only this, but the actress left her fans and admirers across the globe delighted when the 95th Academy Awards announced her name on the list of presenters. Post the announcement, Deepika made her first public appearance at Mumbai airport. Hours later, on Saturday night, the actress was spotted once again at the airport. In the video making rounds on the internet, DP can be seen sporting an uber-cool look. She wore a brown oversized leather jacket teamed up with a black turtle neck top and pair of blue wide-leg denim trousers. She carried a handbag and a pair of oversized sunglasses to accessorise her look. Skipping her usual soft curls or wavy hair, Deepika opted for straight hair in her latest airport look while keeping her makeup minimal. We have just reached the third month of 2023 but this year has already turned out to be memorable for Deepika Padukone. Her keenly-awaited film Pathaan with Shah Rukh Khan turned out to be supremely successful at the box office. Her act in the film too has received rave reviews. This was followed by she becoming one of the presenters for this year’s prestigious Oscars. Taking note of her success this year, her teacher and mentor Anupam Kher has congratulated her in an emotional post. For those not in the know, Deepika was once a student at Kher’s acting institute called Actor Prepares. Nawazuddin Siddiqui and his family issues remain in the headlines. The actor and his wife Aaliya have been making headlines after Aaliya claimed that she was being harassed at Nawazuddin’s house after his mother filed a complaint against her over a property dispute. She was at his Andheri house after she returned from Dubai with her kids. However, Nawazuddin’s lawyer had claimed that Aaliya was still married to her first husband, Vinay Bhargav. Now, a video has gone viral in which she has claimed that she and her kids were kicked out of the house. She also said that she simply had Rs. 81 with her. In the viral video, Aaliya was heard saying, “I just came from Nawazuddin's house and there (points out in a distance) you can see my daughter who is crying. We were thrown out of his bungalow and we have been told we cannot enter. I cannot understand where should I go with my kids. I just have Rs 81 with me - no house to go to, and no money.” The video also saw Shora Siddiqui, Nawazuddin’s daughter crying. Aaliya further said, “I do not know, how can Nawazuddin behave in such a manner. Nawazuddin, I can never forgive you for what you are doing to my kids. I just want to show, to all of you, how my kids are suffering at this late hour in the night. It is midnight, and I am stranded in the streets. I do not know where I should go with my kids.” She also claimed that her kids slept on the floor of a relative's house. As reported by Hindustan Times, responding to Aaliya’s claims, sources close to Siddiqui said, “Nawazuddin Siddiqui's ex-wife Aaliya Siddiqui has said that she was not allowed to enter the house but the truth is Nawazuddin has already named the property on his Ammi, Mehrunisa Siddiqui, so Nawaz is devoid of any decision-making power on anyone's entrance in the property. The caretaker of Mehrunisa Siddiqui states that only her grandkids are allowed in the property and no one else as the property belongs to her now.” “Other than this, in a recent viral video in which Aaliya was seen claiming that she does not have any other place to stay or go is technically wrong. To clarify the fact, Nawaz has already bought a lavish flat for Aaliya in Mumbai in 2016 which she has given for rent of her own will. Also, as we clearly see in this video, it is visible that no one is removed from the property as claimed by Aaliya and it is also very evident that the kids were never stopped to enter the property,” sources further told the publication. While speaking with ETimes, about the recent claims made by Aaliya, Shamas Siddiqui said, “As we speak, they are waiting outside the gate. The police are apparently going to help them to get inside. Aaliya stayed with her bhanji (niece) Shivani last night and she is present with them. Their maid is also with them.” Talking about the ancestral bungalow belonging to his mother, he said, “That’s not true. They have done a false Gift Deed in the name of our mother, which has been only notarized. A Gift Deed is meant to be registered. The bungalow in question belongs to Nawaz." Furthermore, advocate Rizwan Siddiquee, who appeared for Aaliya Siddiqui, told the Bombay High Court that the “situation in the house is so hostile” and he was not able to speak to his client. As per India Today, for this reason, he was “not able to file a reply to the habeas corpus (produce the person) petition of the actor.” While there are reports claiming property dispute, a day ago, it was reported that Nawazuddin Siddiqui reportedly transferred the land of Budhana village located in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, to his brothers. He signed the papers at sub registrar’s office and granted the power of attorney to one of his brothers. As per a report in News18, “Advocate Prashant Sharma told the media that Nawazuddin Siddiqui has given the power of attorney for all his ancestral property to his brother Almasuddin. This way, he has handed over all the rights of his land to his brother. In the second document, he has made a will that he will have the right to his share of the property as long as he is alive. After him, the property will be in the names of brothers Almasuddin, Majuddin and Minhajuddin Siddiqui. The 95th Academy Awards is around the corner and it has created a lot of buzz. From bagging a couple of nominations to Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone being one of the presenters, India has multiple reasons to rejoice in this year’s Oscars Awards. While many are going to step on this stage for the first time, Indian music maestro AR Rahman has already been there and lifted an award back in 2009. Refreshing our memory, the Academy's official Instagram handle gave a glimpse of Rahman's Oscars acceptance speeches. In the video, Rahman also recalled how people “misinterpreted” his acceptance speech while it has nothing to do with “any religion.” It all happened when he spoke about his surreal experience of winning two Oscars for Slumdog Millionaire in 2009. In the video, Rahman asserted, “I went to all these amazing dinners before the Oscars. But still, I was unsure, and the whole of India was cheering. I felt like a gladiator. When they announced my name for the score, I was like, “Is this real? Or is this a dream? And because I had to perform next, I was like “A.R., don’t react. There’s this and more. Don’t mess up your performance.” As he continued, the 56-year-old musician also talked about his acceptance speech, which he delivered after receiving the second award on the same night for the Best Song award with Gulzar for ‘Jai Ho’. For the unversed, he had said, “All my life, I had a choice of hate and love. I chose love and I’m here. God Bless,” in his speech in 2009. Commenting on the same, the Grammy Award winner told, “The second time when they announced my name for the best song, I had said in the speech that the essence of the film is optimism and hope, because the world was going through that economic depression, and Slumdog Millionaire was done in a way that anybody who sees it would feel high.” Explaining his take further, he added, “Some people have misinterpreted that statement over some religion and this and that, which is not true. This is the state of every artist in the world and that’s what makes them the artist. They want to give and love is about giving, not taking.” A.R.
