Boney Kapoor’s much-awaited film Maidaan (2024), starring Ajay Devgn, was finally released after years of delay due to Covid-19. Despite getting unanimous acclaim, it failed to work at the box office. Boney Kapoor, in an interview to Komal Nahta, said that he has paid money to all the vendors, though he suffered a huge loss.

Boney said, “If the film didn’t work, how are the vendors to blame? They patiently waited. For instance, a vendor charged Rs. 100 for his services. I paid him Rs. 60 while the film was in production. I owed him Rs. 40. For those Rs. 40, he waited for 4 years. Will it be fair after I tell such vendors after all these years, ‘My film has flopped and hence, I can’t pay’? I borrowed money to pay them.”

He continued, “A few of them met me with their father. This is because their father had also worked with me earlier. They got mithai ka dabba aur woh mujhe aashirwad deke gaye hai. Then there were some who voluntarily cut down on 10-15% of the amount that I owed them. They would tell me, ‘Pados ke office ki film super-hit hui hai. Uske paise aaj tak nahin mile hai’, ‘yeh producer ke itne paise balance hai’. I would tell them, ‘Mujhe kuch nahin sunna hai. What I owe you (I’ll pay you)’.”

Boney Kapoor further stated, “This has happened even before the release of No Entry. If I assure someone that they’ll be paid in a month and before he would call me, I would phone him and tell him, ‘Yaar, 15 din aur late ho jaayenge’. Also, I never changed my number. Isse yeh hota hai ki jisko paise lene hai, uska hausla rehta hai. Iske liye himmat chahiye. I could look into the eyes of every person I owe money because I know I’ll pay him back. I believe this goodwill has kept me relevant even today (smiles).”

Boney Kapoor then opened up on the difficulties he faced in making Maidaan, “I suffered losses as the film was stranded for 4-4 ½ years because of Covid. 70% of the shoot was completed in January 2020. We were all set to shoot the matches from March 22. 250 actors playing foreign team players had arrived in Mumbai. Who had imagined that it would go on for so long? I kept the unit here until the last flight of the actors' origin country. This happened many times. Moreover, my set got washed out during the cyclone.”

Boney was asked about the rising cost and he confessed, “The original budget was Rs. 120 crores. But due to delays and Covid, the cost went up to Rs. 210 crores.”

He also said, “We had a unit of 600-800 people during the shoot of the matches. Because of Covid, there were restrictions. I used to order food from Taj Flight Kitchens. There were 4 ambulances. No one was allowed to eat together. They were given food packets and if they needed a refill of the meal, tents were set up for it. We didn’t give them local water. We signed a deal with a particular brand to supply water. Uska accha khaasa bill tha. We had to give the foreign actors the assurance that the water is safe for them to consume. All this added to the cost, more so when you did it over a period of 3 years.”

He revealed, “During the shoot of match scenes, there were hardly any foreigners in Mumbai. Even if we had to do multiplication during VFX, we needed 1000-2000 junior artists to show a crowd of 40,000 people. Hence, we had to fly to Bangkok for those sequences. For the stadium exterior, we shot outside different universities in Bangkok.”

7 ½ years ago, Boney Kapoor’s wife Sridevi passed away suddenly, shocking the industry and fans at large. In an interview with Komal Nahta, Boney Kapoor opened up about her not-so-known talents.

He began by saying, “She had a lot of understanding about filmmaking. She used to realize that the lighting was not perfect. 90% of the makeup, she used to do on her own. She would decide what kind of hair would suit the costume. She would sketch the outfits she felt would be appropriate. For the costumes of Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja (1993), Leena Daru was sent to Kashmir to where Sri was shooting, as she was not happy with the clothes sent to her for trial. She gave the costume idea and colour scheme. Consequently, I had to change the colour scheme of the set to match the costume!”

Boney continued, “So, she used to sketch everything. You can check with Manish Malhotra and Neeta Lulla how much she has contributed to their growth.”

Boney Kapoor revealed, “Initially, her 4-5 Hindi films were dubbed. She felt her performance was compromised. So, she learned Hindi. She would have a Hindi teacher in the dubbing studio. That’s how she started dubbing on her own. For Mom (2017), she dubbed for the Tamil and Telugu version. For the Malayalam version, there was a dubbing artist. Yet, she sat with her to see that the dubbing was in sync with the performance. Very few artists have such dedication.”

He also said, “For Mom, we wanted to hire A R Rahman. But he was expensive and we couldn’t afford him. We had allotted money for Sri’s fees as well. She told me, ‘I don’t want the balance money’. It was a good, substantial amount of Rs. 50-70 lakhs. She told me, ‘Mujhe mat dena par Rahman ko le lo’!”

Rakesh Roshan turned 76 on September 6 and on this joyous occasion, the legendary filmmaker spoke exclusively with Bollywood Hungama about his birthday plans and his recent health scare. He also opened up for the first time about surprising netizens by posting a dance reel exactly a month ago.

Happy Birthday to you, sir! I believe this is your 76th birthday… Thank you. And yes, it is indeed my 76th birthday. Every year, my birthday comes. If my birthday fell in a leap year on February 29, it would have been better (laughs)! But that hasn’t happened, and it comes every year. Nevertheless, birthdays make you feel more energetic and show you a new path. You must work according to this new path and agenda.

What are your plans this year for your birthday? This time, we’ll again celebrate with my family in Khandala. A close friend of mine is also throwing a party for us friends. It’ll be in Mumbai and will be held once I return.

In July, you informed everyone through a post on Instagram that you had to be hospitalized as both carotid arteries to the brain had more than 75% blockage. How are you doing now and how many days were you hospitalized for? I was in the hospital for around 2-3 days, after which I was absolutely fine. I was very lucky that it was diagnosed on its own. I had no symptoms. I happened to go for a check-up and found out that I had this problem. Actually, it was not a big problem, but I decided to resolve it.

In your post, you raised a valid point that carotid brain artery sonography, often ignored completely, is a must for everyone who is above 45-50 years old... Yes, I wrote that as most people are not aware of it.

Two weeks after this post, you dropped a video of you dancing to the War 2 song ‘Aavan Jaavan’. I think it’s the first time you posted such a reel. What made you do so? (Laughs) I love that song very much, including the dance steps. There’s a dance studio in the same building as my office. So, I just went there. The boys and girls were practicing a dance. I asked them whether we could dance on ‘Aavan Jaavan’. They agreed and taught me the steps in 30 minutes. Then we shot the video. It was done just for the fun of it.

Was there a thought behind the red shirt? No. I have worn that shirt so many times. I just expressed the desire to wear a hat. A dancer boy in the dance studio had a hat. I wore it and tied a handkerchief around my neck. It was all spontaneous. It wasn’t planned.

Did Hrithik Roshan know about your plan to dance on ‘Aavan Jaavan’? How did he react to it? No, he didn’t. Once the video was shot, I uploaded it. He found it when he saw the video on Instagram! As for his reaction, it was the same as what he wrote on Instagram (smiles).

Bandish Bandits star Ritwik Bhowmik is all set to make his theatrical debut with Abhootpurva (meaning Unprecedented). The film, described as a unique Rom-Hor-Com, a blend of romance, horror, and comedy, brings together Bhowmik with seven acclaimed actors and a female lead, whose names will be revealed in a full cast announcement next month.

Set against the backdrop of Agra in the 90s, Abhootpurva is pitched as a heartwarming and fun theatrical experience. It has stayed with me ever since; it lingers like a beautiful dream. It’s exactly the kind of storytelling I have always wanted to be a part of. It continues to live in my head and heart every day. It is heartwarming in the truest sense, a story about love, innocence, and moments that linger long after.”

With romance, humor, nostalgia, and a touch of the supernatural, this film is designed as a true big-screen experience. Having Ritwik make his theatrical debut with us makes it even more special, and the ensemble we’re about to announce will surprise everyone.”

To introduce the essence of the film, the makers have shared a heartwarming note, which is brought to you exclusively by Bollywood Hungama.

The film is produced by Khyati Madaan under her banner Not Out Entertainment, and Sumit Kumar Mishra. Cameras are scheduled to roll in November 2025.

This marks Not Out Entertainment’s second major announcement this year, after the reveal of Ahan Shetty’s upcoming film, positioned as India’s first horror feature inspired by a national tragedy. Madaan, who previously spearheaded campaigns at major Indian studios such as Red Chillies Entertainment, Disney India, and Maddock Films, recently unveiled a diverse production slate that includes a slice-of-life drama directed by Habib Faisal (Do Dooni Chaar, Ishaqzaade) alongside these genre-bending projects.

Bhowmik rose to fame as the male lead in Bandish Bandits and has since appeared in a range of OTT projects, including The Whistleblower, Modern Love Mumbai, and Maja Ma. Abhootpurva marks his transition to the big screen with a story positioned as both unconventional and theatrical in scope.

The Bigg Boss 19 house, known for its constant dose of high-voltage drama, witnessed a surprising conflict during mealtime when Kunickaa Sadanand stirred controversy by removing puris from the plates of Zeishan Quadri, Gaurav Khanna, Ashnoor Kaur, and Abhishek Bajaj. While most contestants brushed off the act, Zeishan was visibly offended and refused to eat, sparking a heated argument that soon divided the house.

“Removing food from someone’s plate is unfair. Once food is served, it’s theirs — no one has the right to take it away,” Zeishan declared, firmly pushing his plate aside. His reaction surprised several contestants, but he stood by his principles, insisting that it was against his ethics to eat after someone had interfered with his plate.

Baseer Ali quickly backed Zeishan, confronting Kunickaa directly. “You can’t just take food off someone’s plate; that’s wrong,” he argued, setting the stage for an intense showdown. Tanya and Neelam echoed his sentiment, siding with Zeishan and pointing out that respect for personal space extended even to something as simple as a meal.

However, not everyone agreed. Farrhana Bhat suggested that Quadri should have spoken up in the moment rather than silently tolerating it before refusing to eat. Her stance sparked further debate, with some housemates questioning whether Zeishan Quadri had blown the issue out of proportion.

The disagreement escalated into a full-blown argument between Kunickaa Sadanand and Baseer, with raised voices echoing through the house. The incident left contestants split into camps — some siding with Zeishan’s insistence on respect and fairness, while others felt Kunickaa’s action was a minor slip that didn’t warrant such outrage.

As always, Bigg Boss fans are eagerly watching to see how this conflict plays out in upcoming episodes. Will the house manage to restore peace, or will this food fight spark deeper rivalries?

One user commented, “Punjab ke liye karte to zyada khushi milti.” Another wrote, “Kya faida idhar karne ka? Punjab, Uttarakhand, Himachal and Jammu and Kashmir are suffering the worst time with floods… He should donate there. Yeh sab chairman khaate hai paise.”

A different comment read, “Ye paise waha donate karo jaha sabse zyada zaroorat hai. Itni baadh aayi hai jaha-jaha bhi vaha sabse zyada zaroorat hai. Bhagwan ke paas to sab kuch hai.” Echoing similar sentiments, another user added, “Ameer ameer ho rahe hain, gareeb aur gareeb ho rahe hain.”

Our film industry is largely male dominated. Has it been a challenge to find your voice in this masculine cacophony? This is a tough question to answer. But I think we’ve all just been waiting for the right stories and the right storytellers—and more importantly, for people like Dulquer Salmaan to back those stories so they can reach their full potential. For a long time, there’s been hesitation to take risks with women-led films, but this one feels like it’s opening new doors. What’s been most moving is the kind of support it’s received—not just from women, but from men as well. So many men, both within the industry and the audience, have made it their mission to celebrate this film and say, “See what women can do.” That really goes to show how much we sometimes underestimate our audiences. They’re capable of so much love and support, as long as the content is strong.

Your journey as an actor has been swift yet steady. How did you make it happen? It’s hard to pinpoint exactly how I’ve reached here, but I know I’ve been blessed in many ways. I’ve had the chance to work with some of the best people in the industry, and I was born into a family that gave me both inspiration and opportunities. More than anything, I’ve had the privilege of choice—to wait for stories that truly speak to me, rather than taking up every opportunity that comes my way. Not everyone has that luxury, and I try to use it responsibly by picking projects that challenge me and mean something to the audience. At the heart of it, I think it’s a mix of hard work, patience, and whatever God has blessed me with. Mostly, I just feel grateful.

Your father, filmmaker Priyadarshan, says he still can’t believe you’ve reached here without his help. I don’t think that’s a fair statement for him to make. It’s very sweet, because he knows how hard I work for the opportunities I get, but honestly so much of why I’m even here has to do with him. All through my childhood, he passionately spoke about cinema and made sure my priorities were about the craft, not the fame. So, if anything, I owe a big part of this journey to him.

How did Lokah happen? That’s best answered by screenwriter Dominic Arun, because long before I came on board, he had been working on this story with cinematographer Nimish Ravi for about two or three years. Interestingly, it was originally meant to be a very small, standalone film. But once Dulquer Salmaan came in, he saw something much bigger in it. He’s someone who always has a larger vision and ambition for the kinds of stories we can tell, and he encouraged them to expand it into a bigger universe. He told them not to think of it as just a female-centric film, but as something with far more potential—and he backed that vision completely. Honestly, it’s the three of them who made my character Chandra’s story much larger than it was initially meant to be.

What was your first reaction when you were offered the film? Challenged, intrigued, enthused? I very clearly remember the day Dominic narrated Lokah to me. The moment he left, I thought, “Wow, this is incredible… but also so ambitious.” I had two doubts: one, whether I was the right person for it, and two, whether Dominic—someone I didn’t know personally—could actually pull it off. Within minutes of him leaving, I called everyone I knew who knew him. I told them I’d heard a script I loved but needed to know one thing: Can this guy really pull off something so big?

And what did they say? The response was unanimous. Every single person I trusted said the same thing—Dominic is incredibly talented. One person, who usually never has anything nice to say about anyone, was full of praise for his technical brilliance. Another actor told me Dominic was one of the very few people he trusted and would give dates to, anytime, no questions asked. A third person—who was originally approached for a role—said, “I don’t have the dates because I’m in the middle of my biggest film, but if I did, I’d do this film in a heartbeat. And you absolutely should too.” And they were right.

Funnily enough, after we started shooting and became friends, Dominic laughed and said, “You know all my friends called me right after the narration to tell me you were checking up on me!” I told him they were traitors—but at least they gave me the right advice! That’s how I found the confidence in him.

How were you sure you could pull it off? Honestly, the confidence in myself—I’m still not sure it was fully there. But I knew I couldn’t say no to something this special. I was insecure, thinking maybe there were better people than me out there for this role. But I saw it as something that came to me for a reason, and I wasn’t going to question what God was offering me. I promised myself one thing: I would give it everything I had. And that’s what I did.

Tell me about the shooting process. Were the stunts tough to do? I had the best time shooting this film, even though it was one of the most challenging experiences I’ve had. Most of it was shot through the night for months on end, but I honestly have no complaints because those were some of the best months of my life—and that’s entirely thanks to the team around me. We had Yannick Ben on board because we had big ambitions for this project and wanted the best of the best. But since we were already on an overstretched budget, we had to plan carefully. All the action had to be shot in one go. Flying Yannick’s team back and forth wasn’t possible, so for three weeks straight, we shot non-stop action. I was in the middle of stunts, fights, and training every single day. It was intense, but when you’re working toward a shared vision, you discover an energy you didn’t even know you had.

How intense was your preparation? My training began much earlier, from the day I got the role. Action and stunts were completely new territory for me, especially on this scale. To be honest, I wouldn’t have even called myself an athletic person growing up. But training for this film changed that—it pushed me in ways I didn’t expect and made me discover a strength I didn’t know I had. Looking back, as tough as it was, those weeks of action are some of the best memories I’ll carry with me.

Which among your films so far were stepping stones? And tell me about your forthcoming projects. So far, every film has been a stepping stone—some pushed me forward in big ways, others made me pause and reassess my craft, but each one has taught me something valuable. I’m very grateful for that journey. Up next, I have Genie with Ravi Mohan Sir, which is ready for release, and Marshall with Karthi Sir, a rural gangster drama. Both are very different from what I’ve done before, and I’m really excited for audiences to see them.

Tiger Shroff has been known to do films targeted at the audiences of all ages. But with Baaghi 4, he has made an exception. It is his first ‘A’ rated film due to excessive violence and bloodshed. Sadly, despite giving the film an adult-only rating, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) asked for several cuts, Bollywood Hungama has exclusively learned.

Baaghi 4 was certified on August 26, in time for its release worldwide on September 5. However, the Examining Committee (EC) enforced 23 visual as well as audio cuts. The scene of the hero standing on a coffin was deleted. In a scene, a character lights a cigarette from a ‘niranjan diya’ and the EC asked the makers to delete the one-second shot. Then, a scene of rubbing the hand on the hip of a girl was replaced. There's a frontal nude scene in the film, which was 'hidden' by the CBFC.

Another scene of lighting a cigarette, this time from an amputated hand, was deleted. This particular shot was 13 seconds long. A shot where a knife is thrown towards the statue of Jesus Christ was deleted. The CBFC also asked the makers to remove the 'scene of hit of fist and the leaning of the statue of Jesus'.

Apart from these visual cuts, the CBFC used its scissors in several violent scenes. At three places, the EC deleted scenes of throats being cut. The EC also axed shots of hands being cut and two shots of goons being cut and killed by swords. In a particular sequence, the scene of excessive violence, totaling 11 seconds, was deleted. Lastly, a scene of killing by inserting a sword in someone's skull was deleted.

Coming to the audio cuts, the words 'bhang b*****a' were replaced while the words 'b****e' and 'fingering' used by cops were replaced with appropriate terms. In the dialogue 'Bhai tujhe condom mein hi rehna chahiye tha', the word 'condom' was muted. Meanwhile, in the dialogue 'Tera wajood hi mit jaayega God' was replaced with 'Sab dekhte reh jayenge'. Finally, the dialogue 'Woh bhi darta hai mujhse' was deleted while 'Don khoke, ekdum ok' was muted.

Once these changes were made, Baaghi 4 was passed with an ‘A’ certificate. The length of the film, as mentioned on the censor certificate, is 163.50 minutes. In other words, Baaghi 4 is 2 hours, 43 minutes and 50 seconds long.

3 days later, on August 29, the makers of Baaghi 4 approached the CBFC once again as they decided to further cut down the film’s length. They shortened the duration of as many as 19 scenes and removed 6 minutes and 45 seconds of the film. The final run time of the film is 157.05 minutes, that is, 2 hours, 37 minutes and 5 seconds. This is the third film in recent times to go for voluntary cuts after receiving certification, the other two being War 2 and The Bengal Files.

Acclaimed filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali is facing a legal controversy after an FIR was filed against him and two members of his team in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The complaint, lodged on Monday, September 1, by line producer Prateek Taj Mathur, alleges fraud, misbehaviour, and breach of trust.

According to Circle Officer Vishal Jangid, Mathur claimed that he was hired as a line producer for Bhansali’s upcoming film Love & War, but his contract was later abruptly cancelled, revealed a PTI report. He alleged that Bhansali, along with producers Arvind Gill and Utkarsh Bali, removed him from the project without paying him, despite his taking on multiple responsibilities during production.

Mathur stated in the FIR that he had arranged all necessary resources for the shoot and coordinated with government departments as required. However, when he attempted to meet Bhansali’s team at a hotel, he was allegedly met with misbehaviour and disrespect. The FIR has been registered under charges of fraud, criminal conspiracy, and criminal intimidation, and Bichhwal SHO Govind Singh Charan is currently investigating the matter.

The FIR raises serious questions about the internal handling of production responsibilities and the professional conduct of those involved in the project. As of now, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and his team have not issued a response regarding the allegations.

Love & War, directed by Bhansali, is an epic saga starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal in lead roles. The film reportedly features Ranbir and Vicky as Indian Air Force pilots. Several portions of the movie were recently shot in Rajasthan. As per the latest reports, it has been learnt that a visual from the film is expected to be unveiled on Ranbir Kapoor’s birthday, September 28, although it remains unconfirmed whether this will be a first look poster or a teaser featuring all three actors. The movie is scheduled for a theatrical release in March 2026.

With the FIR now registered and the investigation underway, the legal dispute has cast a shadow over the production of what is expected to be one of the most anticipated films of 2026.

Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon has made a powerful appeal for greater equity within the film industry, urging for fair treatment regardless of gender. During a conversation with NDTV, Kriti spotlighted the ingrained, though often overlooked, disparities that women still face on movie sets even in seemingly trivial ways.

Reflecting on her own upbringing, Kriti shared how her parents raised her and her sister without any gender-based limitations, fostering a sense of freedom and empowerment. In stark contrast, she recounted her mother’s restrictive childhood: “My mom grew up in a time when boys were allowed a lot of things that girls were not. Girls were supposed to stay at home, cook, and follow rules. She wanted to learn swimming or dancing, but couldn't. The only thing she fought for was studying, and she became a professor.” It was this very determination that shaped the atmosphere of her own childhood. She added, “Her first thought for me was, ‘Do whatever you want to. Whatever you dream of, go for it.’ That came from her.”

Once inside Bollywood, however, Kriti discovered that bias wasn’t eradicated; it had merely morphed into subtler forms. She remarked, “It hasn’t happened too many times, but little things like the male actor getting a better car or a better room… It’s not about the car, but about not making me feel smaller because I’m a woman. Just make it equal.”

Further addressing ingrained behaviour on sets, Kriti added, “Sometimes even ADs have a habit of calling the female actor first and waiting for the male actor later. I’ve had to tell them not to do that. The mindset needs to change.”

Now appointed as UNFPA India's Honorary Ambassador for Gender Equality, Kriti stands poised to translate her convictions into influence. Her message is clear: equality should permeate even the smallest decisions from cars and rooms to who’s called first on set because respect and fairness matter just as much as grand gestures.

On the work front, Kriti will be seen alongside Dhanush in Aanand L Rai’s romantic drama Tere Ishk Mein. Set for a theatrical release in November 2025, the teaser has already won hearts with a peek at their on-screen chemistry.

Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor, currently basking in the success of Param Sundari, has offered a heartfelt glimpse into her personal aspirations, especially regarding marriage and love. In a candid discussion with Vogue, the actor revealed her vision for a quaint wedding ceremony paired with an indulgently extended honeymoon.

Regarding her dream wedding, Janhvi said, “I know I want to get married in Tirupati. I definitely don’t want too many people there. I want it to be quick; I want the honeymoon to be very long. I definitely know that whatever I wear will be Manish [Malhotra], because he’s my favourite person and he’s family.” Her desire for simplicity resonates with many opting for an intimate setting in Tirupati and prioritizing comfort in her bridal attire, especially after countless hours spent in designer outfits onscreen.

Beyond the nuptial details, Janhvi delved deeper into modern romance, arguing that today's pursuit of instant gratification has altered the nature of love. She observes that this shift often makes romance feel transactional and questions whether people now truly have the patience or willingness to cultivate meaningful connections. She continued, “I’m a hyper-romantic, devoted individual. But I also think that I’ve been extremely lucky in my personal life, so I value and cherish how rare what I’ve found is. And I love the institution of marriage. I love the idea of creating a family life, a unit that is yours, of having someone who’s on your team, of being devoted to them.”

On the work front, Janhvi Kapoor’s Param Sundari, her latest release opposite Sidharth Malhotra, continues to generate buzz. She is also gearing up for her next outing, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, where she shares the screen with Varun Dhawan, Rohit Saraf, and Sanya Malhotra.

Farah, amused by the revelation, couldn’t help but tease her. She asked, “You looked inside his mouth? How was it? Was it different?” To which Dhanashree laughed and replied, “That was my job. It was quite healthy, good hygiene.”

Actor Akshay Kumar celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi in a traditional yet eco-conscious manner while shooting for his upcoming film Haiwaan in Kochi. The actor, known for blending his busy work life with personal beliefs, performed a simple yet heartfelt Ganpati visarjan on the film’s set, accompanied by the cast and crew.

In an exclusive video from Hindustan Times, Akshay is seen carrying an eco-friendly Ganpati idol and performing the immersion ritual. The actor folded his hands, bowed in prayer, and impressed fans with what many described as a “cool visarjan move,” gently dipping the idol into the water with ease and grace. The atmosphere was filled with devotion as the team joined in the celebration, creating a moment that struck a balance between reverence and festivity.

Akshay’s choice of an eco-friendly idol highlighted his continued advocacy for sustainable and mindful celebrations. Even while away from home, the actor ensured that the festival was observed in a way that respected both tradition and the environment.

The Ganesh Chaturthi celebration coincided with the shoot of Haiwaan, directed by veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan. The project, which went on floors on August 23 in Kochi, brings Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan together on screen after 17 years, their last collaboration being Tashan (2008).

The action-thriller features an ensemble cast including Shriya Pilgaonkar, Saiyami Kher, and Asrani. Adding to the excitement, Malayalam superstar Mohanlal will make a special cameo appearance, though details of his role remain under wraps.

Priyadarshan, praising Akshay, described him as “Bollywood’s Mohanlal,” underlining the strong artistic connection they share. In a striking departure from his usual hero persona, Akshay will be seen portraying a darker, antagonistic character in the film.

Filming is currently taking place across Kochi, Ooty, and Mumbai, with the movie slated for a 2026 release.

Nargis Fakhri has once again become the talk of the town, this time not for a film project but for her personal life. A video from a recent high-profile event celebrating the collaboration between Visit Qatar and the Nita Ambani Cultural Centre is going viral on social media, all thanks to a playful moment between the actress, filmmaker Farah Khan, and Nargis’ longtime beau Tony Beig.

The clip shows Nargis posing with paparazzi alongside Farah Khan, when Farah can be seen calling out to Tony Beig, seemingly asking him to stand “near his wife.” While Farah’s words weren’t audible, eagle-eyed fans on social media were quick to lip-read the moment — and they are convinced that Farah just casually confirmed the actress’ marriage.

This candid exchange has reignited chatter about reports that surfaced earlier this year, claiming Nargis had tied the knot with the US-based businessman in a hush-hush ceremony in California. Although no official photos of the bride and groom emerged, a series of glimpses from the intimate event, including a wedding cake adorned with the initials ‘NF & TB’, had gone viral in February, sparking speculation.

Another slice of Mumbai’s cinematic legacy is set to disappear. Famous Studios, the 79-year-old film hub in Mahalaxmi that once echoed with lights, cameras, and action, will soon be razed to make room for a glitzy residential skyscraper.

The studio, founded in 1943 by J. B. Roongta, has been a part of Bollywood’s history for nearly eight decades, offering state-of-the-art facilities for shooting, sound recording, and post-production. From iconic films to ad shoots, countless projects passed through its gates, making it a landmark in the city’s creative ecosystem. But the curtains are finally coming down.

Reports suggest that the landowners themselves will be sealing the deal and currently quite keen on partnering with K Raheja Corp Real Estate. It has been learnt that they have finalized plans to redevelop the 70,000 sq ft plot into a high-rise residential tower. According to layouts submitted to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, the new project will rise 69 floors above Mahalaxmi, with apartments starting from the ninth floor. Designed as plush 3- and 4-BHK homes, each residence will offer sweeping views of the Arabian Sea and Mahalaxmi Race Course.

The commercial component of the project will be minimal, with the majority of the 4.3 lakh sq ft of built-up area reserved for luxury homes. A mixed-use tag aside, the emphasis is clear—Mahalaxmi’s evolving skyline is leaning heavily toward upscale living.

Interestingly, the redevelopment plan also takes into account connectivity with the Mumbai Metro. The upcoming tower is expected to fall within 500 metres of the Science Museum Metro Station, and feasibility studies are already exploring a direct vestibule link between the two.

If this deal is sealed, for K Raheja Corp, this will mark their third major residential project in Mahalaxmi after Vivarea and Modern Vivarea, further solidifying the area’s transformation into a high-end residential hotspot.

The demolition of Famous Studios is expected to begin by the end of the year, likely before Christmas The move comes on the heels of similar redevelopments, including Goregaon’s Filmistan Studio, which is also being replaced by luxury towers. With nearly 80 years of cinematic legacy behind it, the studio will now soon be confined to memories and archives as it gears up to join the long list of Mumbai’s iconic film addresses lost to the city’s ever-rising skyline.

After delivering films like The Tashkent Files (2019), The Kashmir Files (2022) and The Vaccine War (2023), director Vivek Agnihotri is back with another hard hitting film, The Bengal Files. The makers of the film secured the censor certificate in advance and Bollywood Hungama, in this article, would exclusively focus on the same.

To begin with, the film wasn't passed by the Examining Committee of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The Bengal Files was referred to the Reviving Committee (RC) presumably due to its content. The RC passed the film but asked for some changes.

The RC asked the makers to remove 'contemptuous' words against the transgender community and replace them with appropriate terms. Similarly, the pictures of prominent personalities were removed and replaced. As per the directive of the RC, the makers submitted supporting documents for the historical events depicted in the film. The makers also provided consent letters from the parents of the child artists involved in the film. Lastly, the disclaimer was depicted with a larger font and also a voiceover.

Once these changes were made, the CBFC passed the film with an 'A' certificate. The duration of the film, as mentioned on the censor certificate, is 204.30 minutes. In other words, The Bengal Files is 3 hours 24 minutes and 30 seconds.

The censor certificate was handed over to the makers on June 25, 2025. Nearly two months later, on August 26, the makers once again approached the CBFC to make voluntary changes in 29 places. The dialogue '100 years old' was changed to 'An old woman who has dementia'. A photo was added in a phone scene while in another place, a phone video was changed. The dialogue 'Bharat ko ek din iska bahut bada harzana dena padega' was reduced. The name Gopal Mukhopadhyay was removed at multiple places.

Further, a scene of vulture and baby was deleted while in another scene, an owl scene was added. The makers also changed text in several scenes.

The makers made two additions - the duration of the scene of the newspaper was increased by a second. In another scene, text and newspaper scene was added in place of another scene, and it's runtime is 68 seconds.

In this way, the makers deleted 1 minute 42 seconds while they added 1 minute 44 seconds. As a result, the revised length of The Bengal Files is 204.32 minutes, or 3 hours, 24 minutes and 32 seconds.

The Bengal Files is the longest Bollywood film in a long time. It is one minute longer than Animal (2023) and 4 minutes longer than the theatrical version of Pushpa 2 (2024). It stars Mithun Chakraborty, Darshan Kumaar, Pallavi Joshi, Saswata Chatterjee and others. It is all set to release on September 5.

How did something so crazy ever get made? I am really grateful that the film got made. It required a large dose of guts, and producer Anand Surapur sure did have that. I feel it has the kind of unconventionality that makes it relevant even today—from its themes to its characters and storyline.

How was the idea of Quick Gun Murugan born? The writer Rajesh Devraj was struck by the 1960s Tamil western genre. So, he added the ‘veg vs non-veg’ theme, the concept of life after death, and a hero who aspires to be a normal bank employee.

How did you ever think you could get away with it? We lived in more optimistic times, so the ‘get-away-with-it’ belief was stronger.

Tell me about the zany casting. The producer Anand came up with Rajendra Prasad. I fell in love with him the moment I met him. Rambha was a natural tribute to the genre. Nasser was a bonus.

Why didn’t you carry forward the idea into a franchise? We had planned a sequel. It was to be called The Good, The Bad, The Idli.

Bollywood stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan faced a shocking ordeal along with the entire team of Pati Patni Aur Woh 2 during the shoot of this upcoming romantic comedy in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. According to recent reports, local miscreants attacked members of the film crew in broad daylight, exposing glaring lapses in security arrangements for film productions in the state. And now, All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has issued a press statement calling out this kind of behaviour.

The incident, captured in videos that surfaced on social media over the past two days, shows the crew being assaulted while shooting on location. AICWA’s statement strongly condemned the attack, questioning how filmmakers, actors, and technicians can risk their lives in an environment where law and order are evidently compromised. The association said, “If the Uttar Pradesh Government cannot provide safety and security to those engaged in film production, then what is the purpose of promoting Noida Film City as a shooting hub?”

Highlighting the gravity of the situation, AICWA emphasized the potential impact on Uttar Pradesh’s image and the larger film industry. “Prayagraj is known worldwide for the historic Kumbh Mela, a symbol of India’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage. But incidents like this bring shame to the city’s image on the global stage. Instead of being remembered for peace, faith, and culture, Prayagraj is now making headlines for lawlessness and attacks on film artists,” the statement read.

The association has made three urgent demands including immediate registration of an FIR against the miscreants involved in the violence, strict and foolproof security measures for all film shoots across Uttar Pradesh, and restoration of faith among producers, actors, and technicians to ensure Noida Film City does not lose its standing as a safe and reliable shooting destination. AICWA’s appeal was also directed at the Chief Minister, Shri Yogi Adityanath, urging strict action to prevent such disgraceful incidents and reassure the film fraternity about their safety in the state.

PRESS STATEMENT

Date: 29th August 2025

Issued by: All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA)

During the shooting of the film “Pati Patni Aur Woh 2” in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, a shocking incident occurred in broad daylight where local goons attacked members of the film crew… pic.twitter.com/6nuDyBHvWn — All Indian Cine Workers Association (@AICWAOfficial) August 29, 2025

Meanwhile, the film itself is a spiritual sequel to the 2019 hit romantic comedy Pati Patni Aur Woh and is directed by Mudassar Aziz. Alongside Ayushmann and Sara, the movie stars Wamiqa Gabbi in a parallel lead role and features an ensemble cast. The production team is currently wrapping up shooting in Prayagraj, despite the security scare.

The attack raises critical questions about safety protocols on film sets, especially when high-profile stars are involved. It has sent ripples of concern across the Indian film industry, reminding authorities that robust security is indispensable to safeguard not only the talent but also the hardworking crew that brings movies to life.

Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur's daughter Kaveri Kapur, has reportedly been approached for what is being described as one of the most psychologically intense reality shows in recent Indian television. The high-stakes concept is said to revolve around shifting power dynamics, where participants’ social standing and influence swing dramatically based on their decisions, strategies, and alliances — creating an atmosphere both thrilling for viewers and emotionally taxing for contestants.

For Kaveri, who has been steadily carving her own space in the entertainment industry, this project could emerge as a defining platform — one that allows her to showcase not just her talent, but also her personality, grit, and resilience to a wider audience. While attempts to reach Kaveri or her representatives proved unsuccessful, buzz around the show suggests it is not for the faint-hearted. Whether she decides to step into this intense reality format or not remains a question that has everyone watching closely.

Kaveri, already celebrated for her poetry, songwriting, music, and her Bollywood debut Bobby Aur Rishi Ki Love Story, would be stepping into uncharted territory with this reality TV venture — a move that could make waves in a space far removed from her artistic roots. Bollywood actor Alia Bhatt has issued a strong response after a video of her and Ranbir Kapoor’s under-construction bungalow in Bandra, Mumbai, went viral—without their prior consent.

In an Instagram statement, she underscored, “I understand that in a city like Mumbai, space is limited - sometimes the view from your window is another person’s home. But that does not give anyone the right to film private residences and push those videos online. A video from our home – still under construction – has been recorded and circulated by multiple publications, without our knowledge or consent.”

Alia condemned the breach, stating, “This is a clear invasion of privacy and a serious security issue. Filming or photographing someone’s personal space without permission is not ‘content’ - it’s a violation. It should never be normalized.”

She addressed netizens directly, urging them to consider a simple question. “Think about it: would you tolerate videos of the inside of your home being shared publicly, without you knowing? None of us would.” Then she added, “So here’s a humble but firm request - if you come across such content online, please don’t forward it or share it further.”

Alia also appealed to media outlets that have already published or circulated the footage and stated, “And to our friends in the media who have carried these images and videos: I urge you to take them down immediately. Thank you.”

Through her post, Alia Bhatt boldly reaffirmed her right to privacy and challenged societal norms around content creation and media access in the digital age.

Anees Bazmee’s comic caper No Entry completed 20 years yesterday. The film had an ensemble cast of Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Fardeen Khan, Bipasha Basu, Celina Jaitly, Lara Dutta and Esha Deol. On its landmark anniversary, Celina looked back at the experience of shooting the movie.

How do you look back on the experience?

20 years ago, No Entry walked into people’s hearts and never left. This film was more than just a blockbuster comedy, it became a part of our lives, our laughter, our memories. Grateful to have been a part of this journey with such an incredible team and blessed to still receive so much love for it even after two decades. It is hard to believe that two decades have gone by since this film first lit up cinema halls and still continues to bring smiles across generations. No Entry will always remain special, not just for its incredible success but for the journey it gave me.

What was your camaraderie like with the rest of the cast?

With the men, it was a great professional camaraderie limited only to the set. But with the women we had a blast. Bipasha Basu and I went back to our Kolkata days. She was my senior as a model and we caught up on old times. Lara Dutta and Esha Deol too, and that bond of sisterhood has carried on till today. We saw each other through babies, marriage even losing near and dear ones. That is something I will always cherish deeply.

What was Anees Bazmee like as a director?

If I had to single out one person who made this journey truly memorable, it would be our director Anees Bazmee. He is a master of comedy and a master writer, and working under his direction was nothing short of a masterclass in timing, improvisation, and energy. His vision and brilliance are what made No Entry the timeless laughter riot it still is. There are two others I must single out.

Jee boliye?

A very special mention of Anil Kapoor. Working with him was inspiring in every sense. His professionalism, energy, and sheer brilliance elevated every frame he was in. Watching him at work was a lesson in itself. And also to the incredible Boman Irani. I was in complete awe of him, not only as an actor but also as a personality. His presence left a lasting impression on me.

The sequel is on the anvil. But you are not in it

I was deeply saddened to know that the original cast will not be a part of No Entry Part 2. I truly feel that the original cast, shown in the parallel timeline of the story so many years down the line, would have made a phenomenal impact on how the film is received. It would have been amazing to see how Sanjana and Sunny’s story evolved twenty years later, with hilarious comedy woven seamlessly with Anees Bazmee’s magical comic sense, writing, and direction. Lara and Anilji’s characters, which were also loved immensely, Bipasha’s unforgettable character, Esha’s charm, and of course Salman being Salman, the audience would absolutely have loved seeing the progress of these characters through another stage of life.

Shreyas Talpade starrer highly acclaimed debut Iqbal completes 20 years today. The film, which also starred Naseeruddin Shah and Shweta Basu Prasad and was directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, is still remembered for its heartwarming moments. On the movie’s landmark anniversary, Shreyas looked back at the film in an interview with us.

Shreyas, 20 years of your best known film

Twenty years is a long, long time, but sometimes you wonder where did all this time go, how fast it went. And it sounds clichéd, but it feels like yesterday when I started auditioning and practicing and then shooting for Iqbal, immediately a day after getting married. So, so many fond memories.

People still talk about Iqbal

The fact that Iqbal is fresh, even today… Just to give you an example, yesterday I had gone to pick up my daughter from school and one of the girls who's probably as old as my daughter - seven, eight years old - she came running up to me and she said, ‘Uncle, I saw your film Iqbal 10 times’. And that for me was quite unbelievable. And I asked her, really? And her mother said, ‘Yes, she loves it so much’. The film remains fresh as ever, even after 20 years with the new generation. And there've been a lot of parents who've come up to me and said that, you know, we've shown your film to our kids and they've loved it. And they keep doing that.

Some five years ago, a man came up to me and, ‘When your film released, I was in school. I saw the film. I loved it. And you had come for the show. And I remember meeting you and telling you, you know what, I want to be a doctor. Today I am a doctor.’ So I think these kinds of things that have happened with me, these experiences are completely surreal. They’re quite unbelievable. And I think they just enrich your life so much. You know, these are fond memories, which will always, always stay with me.

How did you bag this plum part so early in your career?

This happened thanks to my friend, Yatin Karyekar, who played my father in the film. He was the one who, you know, suggested me to go and audition for the film as we used to play cricket and do theatre together. And that is what Nagesh was looking for, an actor who can bowl or a bowler who can act. So, and of course, it was technically not too early in my career. I was already 30 by that time. But yeah, I had to play someone who was 18. And it is all thanks to Nagesh and his associate Elahe Heptullah for changing that entire look of mine. To be very honest, I cannot thank Nagesh, Elahe, Rahul Puri and Subhash Ghai sir enough for this opportunity, which completely changed my life.

What was it like working with the stellar cast?

Working with Naseer sir, Girish Karnad sir, Shweta Prasad, Yatin, Prateeksha Lonkar was absolutely fabulous. And all of them, you know, have added so much value to my life, to my performances. I cannot even, you know, begin to tell you because it was an amazing experience (of) working with all of them. Girish sir was so warm and supportive. And so was Naseer sir, you know. Naseer sir is known for his temperament. But with me, I think he helped me so much. I remember him, you know, taking me out for films or dinners. And we were having breakfast together, playing Scrabble, watching films. So, I think it was a wonderful experience working on Iqbal and something, which I can never forget.

Any special memories of the experience?

Right from the audition till the release, everything, I remember every little detail about Iqbal. And it will always remain that special film for me my entire life. So, yes, thank you so much once again to all of you who were so generous enough with their reviews that the film became a blockbuster of sorts, a cult of sorts, and is relevant and fresh even after 20 years. So, congratulations to all of us.

And to answer your last question, what makes it remain fresh even after so many years? I think it's the underdog story, which all of us love and all of us relate with. You know, it's the triumph of the underdog, someone who we feel may not be able to do anything in his life, then he achieves something which he has dreamt for all along. I think that is something that all of us inherently have, want to achieve and believe in and aspire for. So, it's that story of aspiration and inspiration, both, which has been the major factor for its longevity.

Abbas-Mustan’s Shah Rukh Khan starrer Baadshah completes 26 years today. The action-comedy continues to entertain even after over a quarter century. The movie was known for some memorable stunts performed by Khan. It was the film’s action director Moses Fernandes who made them look more exciting. In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Hungama, he went down memory lane and recalled some interesting and funny moments from the shoot of Baadshah.

Shah Rukh Khan’s daring slide stunt from 80 meters high

The ending portions of Baadshah saw SRK carry out a scene where he is hanged at 80 meters, from where he jumps on a large cloth and slides down. “It was a very risky shot,” recalled Fernandes. “If the cloth turned, anything could have happened. I did a few rehearsals. We wanted to make sure that the cloth shouldn’t come off. That was the biggest challenge. But it all happened well.”

Fernandes said that Khan was sure that nothing untoward would happen as he had worked with the actor before in Deewana and Josh. Yet he had a few questions. “He asked me, ‘Masterji, yeh parda ghoomega?’ I assured him, ‘Nahin ghoomega’. He asked if I am sure. I said yes I am sure. I made my boys do that stunt a few times. So, Shah Rukh bhai felt this is safe. But as I am a fight master, I need to make sure that the actor shouldn’t get hurt in any way.”

Amrish Puri was kept in the dark about a stunt scene involving him

There was a scene in the film where SRK snatches the gun from Amrish Puri’s hand and does a somersault over him. Speaking about the scene, Fernandes said, “Before the shot, Amrish Puri asked me, ‘Masterji, how will he (SRK) jump? My hand might break’. But Shah Rukh bhai told me, ‘Masterji, don’t tell him anything and just take the shot (laughs). Otherwise, the shot won’t happen. Don’t tell Amrish Puri ji what I am going to do.’ So, Amrish Puri didn’t know what Shah Rukh was going to do. He just did the somersault and we took the shot. It turned out to be very well. It was a bit risky.”

One stunt featuring SRK involved more than 30 retakes

Fernandes also recalled a scene where Sharat Saxena and Khan come face-to-face and the latter had to do a stunt. It took over 30 retakes. “Shah Rukh bhai had to jump and take out the gun attached on his leg while being in the air,” recalled Fernandes. “We hadn’t put cables. Shah Rukh bhai said that he will do it himself. That shot must have had at least 32 retakes. I suggested we can shoot it in a different way. But Shah Rukh bhai said that he will do it himself. That guy is so hardworking that I can’t tell you. He did it, although it took 2-3 hours. He was like, ‘Main kar ke rahoonga’.”

SRK almost climbed a building horizontally

Another famous scene from the film is the one where SRK, with the use of special shoes whose soles stick to anything, climbs a building horizontally. “Shah Rukh bhai said he would like to do it himself. He said, ‘Mujhe directly building pe chadhao’. I had all the system with me. I was ready to do it. But then the directors said let it be, we will do it with CGI. But at that time the CGI wasn’t so advanced. We could make out that it’s not real,” said Fernandes.

The action director is all praise for SRK’s energy level. “I haven’t seen a hero like him,” he said. “He has the same level of energy at night, like he has in the morning. During a shot where an actor is speaking to Shah Rukh (who is standing on the opposite side), we used to make someone else stand in place of him. But Shah Rukh used to insist that he will only do. He said the other person will give a better reaction if he is standing in front of him. Some other actor might say, let the assistant give that shot.”

Shoot of Baadshah unintentionally ended the run of Puneet Issar’s TV show Hindustani

At one point of time, Moses Fernandes was doing Puneet Issar’s television show Hindustani. He was reluctant to join initially. “I told Puneet Issar that I don’t want to be a fight master in a TV serial, else I will be stuck there only. But I did that show for four and a half years; 20-25 days a month. But then I realized I came here to do something but I am doing something else altogether,” said Fernandes.

After working on the show for a long time, he got a call for Baadshah from Venus Films. “I told Ratan Jain (of Venus) that I am currently involved in a TV serial,” said Fernandes. “He suggested that I speak to them. I told Puneet Issar that I have got a call from Venus. He straightaway asked, ‘For Baadshah?’. He already knew (laughs). I said yes but my dates are with him. But he said, ‘Maa ki aankh! Tu kar le’. He told me that I should do it as this is what I always wanted to do.”

He continued, “I asked Puneet how will he continue the serial without me. He said he will see. But he stopped the serial right then. I asked him why he did that. He said they are unable to do various kinds of fights like martial arts, taekwondo, samurai fights, etc, without me.”

Bond with Abbas-Mustan

Apart from Baadshah, Fernandes has worked with Abbas-Mustan in quite a few films like Soldier, Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, Humraaz, etc. When asked about his relation with the director duo, he said, “They love me lot. They used to involve me in various matters, be it story or songs. Many a times they used to take my opinion on a song. I used to give my opinion as an audience. We have family relations. I am there in all their parties. They also attended by son’s wedding.”
