The Fable, directed by writer-director Raam Reddy, has made history as the first Indian film to win the prestigious Best Film award in the main international competition (Constellation Features Competition) at the Leeds International Film Festival 2024. This marks a milestone achievement for Indian cinema, as no Indian film has previously received this honor at the festival since its inception in 1987. The award follows The Fable's recent success, including its world premiere at the Berlinale Film Festival 2024, and the Special Jury Prize at the 2024 MAMI Mumbai Film Festival.

Director Raam Reddy said, “Leeds is an incredible festival, not just because of its amazing heartfelt curation but also because it is an Academy Award qualifying festival that screened nearly 250 amazing films this year! I got a chance to present The Fable in person in Leeds for the UK premiere and the audience reaction to the film was so engaging, it was amazing. This recognition of Best Film in such an important international platform makes me feel thankful and fulfilled as a filmmaker. I want to dedicate this award to my amazing team, whose sustained passion and effort over the years have brought The Fable to life!”

Actor Manoj Bajpayee said, “I am incredibly honored to be a part of The Fable and to see it resonate with audiences globally. Working with director Raam Reddy, whose thoughtful storytelling and unique blend of magical realism added such depth to this project, alongside Pratap Reddy, Juhi Agarwal, and later, Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain, has been a profound experience. My co-stars Priyanka Bose, Deepak Dobriyal, and Tillotama Shome brought extraordinary talent to this journey. Winning the Best Film award at Leeds is not just a triumph for our film but a proud moment for Indian cinema. I hope The Fable continues to inspire and touch people around the world.”

Executive Producer Guneet Monga Kapoor said, “I’m beyond thrilled that The Fable has won Best Film at the Leeds International Film Festival, a first for Indian cinema. This win is a testament to Raam Reddy’s vision and Manoj Bajpayee’s remarkable performance. We’re honoured to see our story resonate with global audiences on such a grand stage. The magic of ‘magic realism’ has just begun!”

Executive Producer Achin Jain said, “It’s a moment of immense pride for The Fable to become the first Indian film to win at the Leeds International Film Festival. It's a testament to the story that no one left a 45-minute Q&A session after a midnight screening. This honour reaffirms the power of Indian storytelling to resonate globally. Congratulations to Raam Reddy and the entire team of the film for this incredible achievement!”

The Fable competed alongside acclaimed international films like Simon of the Mountain (Best Film at Cannes Critics Week from Argentina), Toxic (Best Film in Locarno Festival from Lithuania), and Lovable (Karlovy Vary Award Winner from Norway). The film’s recognition at Leeds comes on the heels of enthusiastic reception from Spanish audiences at the Seminci Festival, Brazilian audiences in Mostra Sao Paolo, and Irish audiences in the World Cinema section at the 69th Cork International Film Festival. Generating excitement as The Fable continues its global journey, with upcoming screenings in Nantes in France and a headlining Special Presentation at the Singapore International Film Festival that will be attended by Manoj Bajpayee and Raam Reddy.

Reddy’s second feature blends magical realism with a powerful political allegory. Set in the Indian Himalayas, The Fable tells the story of a family living on an orchard estate whose peaceful life is upended by mysterious events. The film stars Manoj Bajpayee as Dev, with notable performances by Priyanka Bose, Deepak Dobriyal, Tillotama Shome, and Hiral Sidhu.

The Fable is an India-US co-production between Prspctvs Productions and Maxmedia and has Academy Award-winning producers Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain of Sikhya Entertainment serving as Executive Producers.

Vijaylaxmi Singh, who portrayed Triptii Dimri's mother in the romantic comedy Bad Newz, is also recognized for her roles in Delhi Crime and Breathe: Into the Shadows. In an exclusive interview with Hindustan Times, she discusses women-centered themes, her experience working with Vicky Kaushal, inspirations from Charlie Chaplin, and more.

When asked what unique aspect in Bad Newz's script drew her to the project, Vijaylaxmi shared, “As an artist, I was looking forward to working with my director Anand Tiwari. He is a very talented director and actor. It offered me a great learning opportunity. It's a story about a girl who has ambitions. Family and love are important to her, but her dreams are equally important. So, how would a mother react to a girl who is ambitious yet raised in a homely atmosphere? This would be a great opportunity.”

Reflecting on her acting journey, she said, “I've worked on multiple commercial projects, including Breathe: Into the Shadows and Delhi Crime. Each project had a different storyline and focus. Delhi Crime was beautifully captured, while Bad Newz has been made appealing to audiences through its music, dance, and themes. I am lucky to have had the opportunity to work on various types of films and series.”

When asked about her motivation to pursue acting, Vijaylaxmi said, “My inspiration for pursuing acting came during my college days studying English literature. I developed a strong interest in acting while studying poetry and drama. Initially, I didn't pursue acting seriously as I was unsure about it. Instead, I started a career in banking, which is quite different. I have admired Charlie Chaplin's ability to express and portray characters exceptionally well throughout my journey.”

Asked whether her background in English literature and theater deepened her understanding of acting, Vijaylaxmi explained, “Studying poetry and drama made me realise that every word used carries meaning. Vocabulary, punctuation, and even the smallest details must be carefully considered as they influence how emotions are conveyed or a line is delivered. Before pursuing theatre, I worked in retail banking. This experience gave me the confidence to speak in front of people, as you must let go of your inhibitions when on set. It helped me develop professionalism, essential in acting and every aspect of life.”

When asked about Vicky Kaushal and Triptii Dimri facing online trolling over the song Jaanam from Bad Newz and whether actors are unfairly targeted for their artistic choices, she observes, “Actors are often judged incorrectly because many are involved in a film project. Actors are often under intense scrutiny because of the nature of their work and the many people who follow them. Even simple things, such as someone being a vegan, become topics of discussion.”

Vijaylaxmi further comments, “When it comes to this song, there have been bolder film and media projects, but I like the song and think the actors have done a great job. I don't find anything problematic about it; it's a lovely song. People may do whatever they want, but don't spare anyone else. I appreciate that the film emphasises essential themes such as women's ambition, independence, following your dreams, and fatherhood. The world will be better if we all take ownership of a situation. In this film, Amy Virk and Vicky wanted to take ownership of their situation rather than run away. They did not treat it as a taboo, and that's a perfect message.”

If you are planning to watch Kanguva in theatres this weekend, make sure you put cotton in your ears before entering the auditorium. Or carry over-the-counter medication for headache. This is because the film is too loud, with many calling it the loudest film that they have seen in their lives.

As per reports gathered by Bollywood Hungama, moviegoers across the country and also the world have complained of the high volume and it has affected the overall experience for the film. A manager at a multiplex spoke to us on condition of anonymity, “During the intermission of every show of Kanguva on its release day, irate moviegoers requested our staff to do something about the volume. Some of them even blasted our team, assuming that it’s us who have kept the volume high. But it’s not our fault. And I spoke to my counterparts and it's happening in other theatres as well.”

Many moviegoers have taken to social media to speak about their unpleasant experiences. An industry member, currently abroad, told us, “When I watched Kanguva, I felt like someone pierced my ears with a sharp knife. 70% of the film is ruined because of an irritating sound design that forces you to feel emotions for characters whereas you end up feeling forced to go and punch the soundbox in the auditorium.”

Yesterday, Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty took to Instagram to talk about this aspect. He wrote, “High time our fraternity to put your foot down and say things loud and clear. No film will have a repeat value if the audience walk out with headache (sic).”

Bollywood Hungama was the first one to report of a similar instance which happened with KGF - Chapter 2 (2022). A few days after its release, makers rectified the issue and sent revised prints.

The exhibitors across the country are hoping that Kanguva makers also follow suit. An exhibitor from North India rued, “Some people suffer from high blood pressure or migraine. What if something happens to them when they are watching the film in my cinema hall? Hence, we hope the makers of the film listen to our plea.”

Kanguva stars Suriya and Bobby Deol and is directed by Siva.

After his Bollywood debut in Maharaj this June, Junaid Khan is gearing up for a potential double release around Valentine’s Day 2025. Trade insiders report that both of his upcoming films—one co-starring Sai Pallavi and produced by his father, Aamir Khan, and another romantic drama with Khushi Kapoor—are eyeing February release dates.

Aamir Khan's Production Targets Valentine's Day Junaid’s untitled film with Sai Pallavi, produced by Aamir Khan, is tentatively set for a February 14 release. “Aamir has been eyeing February 14 for months,” a source told Mid-Day. “They have planned promotions and distribution channels around this date. So, changing it now is difficult.”

Meanwhile, Junaid’s romantic drama with Khushi Kapoor, produced by Boney Kapoor and Phantom Studios, has already been slated for release a week earlier on February 7. Directed by Advait Chandan, the film is an official Hindi remake of the Tamil hit Love Today (2022). “In September, the makers had announced the release date,” says a source close to Boney Kapoor’s production team. “Keeping the film’s theme of young romance in mind, they want to stick to the February window.” Producers Consider Options to Avoid Box-Office Clash With both films catering to a young audience and capitalizing on Valentine’s Day, a back-to-back release could impact each film’s box-office performance. However, the release dates may still change as both production teams look to avoid direct competition. According to a source, “Aamir is currently promoting Laapataa Ladies in the U.S. for the Oscars but plans to meet with the producers of the Love Today remake later this month. An announcement of new dates is expected by December.”

If no adjustments are made, Junaid Khan could see two of his films releasing just a week apart.

Milap Zaveri aka Mass Zaveri celebrates his birthday today, that is, November 14. It’s a triple celebration for him this year. Singham Again, in which he wrote the additional dialogues, has been quite liked. And thirdly, the mahurat of his upcoming directorial venture Tera Yaar Hoon Main was a much-talked-about event. It launches Indra Kumar’s son Aman along with Akanksha Sharma. The superstars Ajay Devgn and Aamir Khan graced the event and it caught attention big time.

A day before his birthday, Bollywood Hungama exclusively spoke to Milap Zaveri about having a rocking November. The writer-filmmaker humbly said, “Touchwood, it’s been a lovely month. I was happy to be one of the additional dialogue writers in Singham Again. I got a lot of appreciation for it, thanks to Rohit Shetty and all the other writers. Then Tera Yaar Hoon Main’s mahurat took place; with this film, we are launching Aman Indra Kumar and Akanksha Sharma. It also features a legend like Paresh Rawal sir. It’s a great responsibility as Indu ji is trusting his son with me. In fact, I said at the mahurat that Indu ji trusts me with 3 of his B’s – his brand Masti 4, his beta Aman and his wife Beena ji. So, now, I have to give a B for Blockbuster!” Milap is also all set to direct the fourth instalment of the sex comedy, Masti.B

Milap Zaveri continued, “So, it’s a happy birthday. I am looking forward to the coming year since I have these directorial ventures. The only wish I have is that I keep working like this on my birthday every year. I hope I keep having work and I keep having films to make so that I can entertain the audience.”

So, can one assume that Milap Zaveri will be having a working birthday? He replied, “Yes. Tera Yaar Hoon Main shoot begins in November itself. It’s a working birthday and it’s the best way (to celebrate the big day). I’ll obviously also spend time with my son Mehaan and my wife Gouri.”

He smiled and added, “I think it’ll be the best birthday in a long time as I am surrounded by so many good people and good projects.”

At the event of Tera Yaar Hoon Main, Milap Zaveri was introduced in a massy style. Looking back at it and sharing the stage with Aamir Khan and Ajay Devgn, Milap Zaveri stated, “It was great to be with them. They came due to Indu Ji's goodwill. I must give credit to him. As sone pe suhaga, we also got their blessings. Aamir sir and Ajay sir wished me on stage. That felt great. It was also so good for newcomers like Aman and Akanksha to get blessings of such legends.”

Milap Zaveri wrote an interesting post on Instagram where he mentioned all the landmark films of Indra Kumar while praising him. The post read, “With his ‘Dil’ he gave me his ‘Beta’ to make a story about ‘Ishq’. Now there is only one responsibility I have, to make ‘Tera Yaar Hoon Main’ a film full of ‘Dhamaal’ and ‘Masti’!”

The master of mass dialogues that he is, we asked him to end our chat with a power-packed one-liner. Milap Zaveri immediately came up with one such one-liner, “Iss janamdin, ek naye star Aman ka janam ho raha hai aur as a director mera bhi janam ho raha hai. This janamdin is like a punar janam for me. And it works beautifully because the classic film on punar janam, Karan Arjun, is also re-releasing soon!”

Rohit Shetty discussed bringing together two iconic characters, Chulbul Pandey and Bajirao Singham, explaining that they come from different worlds. In an interview with India Today Digital, he noted that their collaboration would create a distinct film, separate from his existing cop universe.

Rohit Shetty said, “We were creating our own characters, and they were coming into each other’s stories. That’s how we created a universe. But these are two IPs (intellectual properties) that have never met. If all goes well, and the audience likes what we make...This has never been done before, and it’s something new for everyone. Also, Chulbul is not in the universe, nor is Singham going there. It will be two IPs and two universes meeting for one individual film.”

Rohit Shetty also mentioned that it would take time for the film to go on floors. He added, “This will be a standalone film, not where everyone comes together. It will definitely take a lot of time to make.”

Salman Khan made a brief appearance in the post-credits scene of Singham Again, delivering his iconic line, “Swagat nahi karoge humara?” The scene then teased the upcoming film Mission Chulbul Singham, leaving many fans disappointed by the blink-and-miss cameo.

Explaining the creative decision behind Salman Khan's cameo, Rohit Shetty said, “We followed the international format where, at the end, you see a photo or a phone call. The story had already concluded, and adding Salman just because we have him... We couldn't waste him like that. It's better to have him in a small appearance rather than a full-fledged sequence, where people think, ‘Why him, zarurat nahi thi (it wasn’t needed)?’ That would have gone majorly wrong.”

Shetty also revealed that he had been toying with the idea for many years and, when he reached out to Salman Khan, the actor immediately agreed to be a part of the film.

Mumbai Police on Tuesday arrested an aspiring songwriter for allegedly sending threatening messages to Bollywood actor Salman Khan and demanding Rs. 5 crores in the name of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, an official reported.

Police claimed that Sohail Pasha, arrested in Raichur, Karnataka, intended to make a song he wrote and resorted to this scheme for publicity. On November 7, the Mumbai traffic police’s WhatsApp helpline received several messages claiming that the sender was part of the Bishnoi gang, threatening to kill Salman Khan if he didn’t pay Rs. 5 crores. The sender also warned that the writer of the song ‘Main Sikandar Hoon’ would be killed.

The Mumbai Police crime branch traced the mobile number used to send the threatening messages to Raichur. A team was dispatched to Karnataka, where they interrogated Vyankatesh Narayan, the owner of the number. However, Narayan's phone did not have internet access. Police later discovered that his phone had received a WhatsApp installation OTP, leading to further investigation.

Narayan told the police that on November 3, a stranger approached him in a marketplace, asking to borrow his phone to make a call. Investigations revealed that the man had used Narayan's phone number to install WhatsApp on his own phone by obtaining an OTP. The crime branch then traced the suspect to Pasha in Manavi village near Raichur.

Pasha, the writer of the song ‘Main Sikandar Hoon’ mentioned in the threat, admitted to using the scheme to gain fame for his song by including it in a threat directed at Salman Khan. Pasha was brought to Mumbai and handed over to Worli police for further investigation. The traffic police helpline had previously received at least four threatening messages targeting Salman Khan in recent months.

In 2007, Aamir Khan's directorial debut Taare Zameen Par, featuring a remarkable performance by Darsheel Safary in the lead, created a buzz by reshaping storytelling in Hindi cinema. Now, years later, Aamir describes its spiritual successor, Sitaare Zameen Par, as being “far ahead” of the original, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India.

While discussing the film, Aamir described it as "a beautiful story." He explained, “Well, it’s a beautiful story. Actually, the easiest way I can describe it is that, Taare Zameen Par is a very emotional film which makes you cry. Sitaare Zameen Par makes you laugh, it’s a humorous film. The theme is similar, of people with different abilities, different intelligence, or with different challenges. But it’s humour as opposed to emotions.”

The actor also stated that the sequel takes the subject even further than Taare Zameen Par did. He explained, “In many ways, I feel it’s way ahead of Taare Zameen Par. In Taare Zameen Par, the person who was with the challenge in the film, Ishaan, was helped by my character. In Sitaare Zameen Par, it’s the ten people with challenges, they help me, the supposedly normal person. So I feel it goes much further. I hope it turns out well.”

Written by Amole Gupte, Taare Zameen Par told the story of Ishaan, an 8-year-old with artistic talent who struggles academically. His teacher, Nikumbh (played by Aamir Khan), helps him manage his dyslexia. Upon its release, the film was widely praised for raising awareness about the learning disorder. Taare Zameen Par received critical acclaim, was a box office success, and won three National Film Awards.

Sitaare Zameen Par, was announced in October 2023. Starring Aamir Khan, Darsheel Safary, and Genelia Deshmukh in lead roles, the film is directed by RS Prasanna and is based on the 2018 Spanish film Champions. Filmmaker duo Abbas-Mustan’s Aitraaz, a bold drama that was ahead of its time, completes 20 years today. The film was about a man Raj (Akshay Kumar) being falsely accused of sexual harassment and attempted rape by his boss and former girlfriend Sonia (Priyanka Chopra). After some twists in the tale, Raj’s wife Priya (Kareena Kapoor Khan), a lawyer by profession, fights his case and ensures that he is free of all charges.

The film ends with Sonia ending her life by suicide. The incident is shown as a news update on a news channel. On the occasion of the film’s 20th anniversary, its screenplay writer Shiraz Ahmed revealed in an exclusive chat with Bollywood Hungama that they had actually shot the scene of Sonia’s suicide, but it was later edited out from the final print.

Shiraz Ahmed said, “We showed that Priyanka goes to the terrace of her corporate office and jumps from there. We didn’t show a green screen. We shot it with a crane and by hanging her through harness. A very good dialogue was played during the scene, which goes like, ‘Jab aadmi zindagi mein bohat tezi se oopar jata hai toh woh sochta hai ki use alag kisam ki kaamyabi milegi lekin usko tab pata chalta hai ki uske aas paas ke uske jitne log hain woh us se kitne door ho gaye.’ And then she jumps.”

He added, “It was a beautifully shot scene. We had also edited that scene. But then it was appearing gruesome since we wanted the family audience to see the film. So, we played those lines while showing the news about her suicide on TV in a showroom.”

The subject of Aitraaz about a man being falsely accused of a sexual crime by a cunning woman was quite out-of-the-box and bold. “If you try and find out, you will realize that such incidents had happened even then,” said Shiraz. “The credit should go to Abbas-Mustan. They were the people who showed guts to make this subject and made it so well and that too back then. Right from the start they did Baazigar, where they showed an anti-hero. Then in Ajnabee, they showed the wife-swapping angle.”

He said that the challenge was to present such a subject while keeping the Indian audience of that era in mind. “It had a controversial angle,” he said. “So, it was very important to consider Indian sentiments and values. Despite the subject, it had family values. It is a thin line when you are portraying a woman this way. But the whole point was that be it a man or a woman, mistakes can happen from anyone. It was a tricky situation, but we pulled it off.”

Speaking about the depth of the characters, Shiraz said, “As you know, Akshay Kumar is the protagonist with whom this incident happens. But the actual protagonist is Kareena Kapoor, through her bonding with her husband. At one point even she feels that maybe her husband is wrong. But she overcomes it and puts faith in him and says that she will fight his case. These values represent India’s culture and family values. This complimented the controversial part of the story.”

Aitraaz had some moments that were considered bold two decades ago. But Shiraz maintains that they didn’t get carried away with the theme. “It’s all about your intentions,” he said. “One intention can be that because of the theme, you might add scenes that titillate the audience. But that was not the case here. Even if you see it today, everything shown in the film was the requirement of the story. Hence, the film is such that it can be seen with a family.”

The makers received complete support from the film’s producer Subhash Ghai. In fact, Shiraz said that he didn’t keep a watch at the making of the film. “Subhash Ghai was very confident about the subject,” he said. “He heard it for the first time and said, ‘Go ahead’. In fact, he was so confident that he didn’t visit the sets even once. He just saw a copy. It was a very smooth shoot actually. There wasn’t a single scene or dialogue which an actor objected to, and we had to change.”

Aitraaz had released alongside a biggie like Veer-Zaara, Ram Gopal Varma’s Naach and the coloured version of the classic Mughal-e-Azam. Shiraz recalled that despite the situation, Ghai never felt like backing out. “The credit should go to Subhash Ghai ji,” he said. “When he saw the copy, he was very confident. We had a good theme, and the music was good too.”

But Shiraz claimed that Aitraaz had to face a lot of negativity from the industry itself. “People from the industry had declared it as a flop,” he said. “They said the film did well in initial days because of Diwali and from Monday, it will go down. But it sustained so well and that too in front of such big films.”

We are currently living in the era where two big films clashing at the box office leads to fights over getting maximum screens. But Ahmed said that this wasn’t the case 20 years ago. “It was a lot peaceful back then,” he said. “People are fearful in today’s times because you get the pirated copies of films on the second or third day itself. So, a section of the audiences watches the film for free. There was piracy back then too, but it wasn’t at this level as there was not much penetration of the internet. At that time, people used to get pirated films on CDs. So, the process used to take time.”

He added, “Hence, these days the makers want as many eyeballs as possible on the first day if there are two or more films releasing on the same day. Also in those days, films used to run for weeks and, at times, pick up later. But now the whole idea of a film picking up later doesn’t exist. Films are also more expensive today, so the makers wish to make as much money as possible in the first weekend, even if the numbers drop later.”

Kartik Aaryan, riding high on the success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, is reportedly keen on reviving the Aashiqui franchise. The actor, initially set to star in Aashiqui 3 under Anurag Basu's direction, aims to bring the film back under the iconic franchise banner. Originally titled Aashiqui 3, the project underwent a name change to Tu Aashiqui Hai earlier this year due to a dispute between the film's producers, T-Series and Vishesh Films. However, the recent success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 has prompted Aaryan to reconsider the strategic value of a franchise.

As per a report in Mid-day, a source revealed, “The success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and 3 has confirmed Kartik’s belief in the power of franchises. He has suggested to Bhushan that he initiate talks with Mukesh Bhatt to acquire the title. Kartik is certain that building the love story under the Aashiqui franchise will give it a push.”

The Aashiqui franchise has a rich history. The original 1990 film launched the careers of Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal. The 2013 sequel, Aashiqui 2, starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor, was also a massive commercial and critical success.

However, the road to Aashiqui 3 is not without its challenges. The ongoing dispute between T-Series and Vishesh Films over the franchise rights could complicate matters. Additionally, Anurag Basu's busy schedule, including the reshoots of Metro… In Dino, may delay the project's commencement. Despite these hurdles, Aaryan remains determined to bring the franchise back to life. He is committed to ensuring the film is made with utmost care and attention to detail. The actor is also keen on exploring other franchise opportunities, with a potential sequel to his 2018 hit Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety on the cards. “Anurag is anyway busy with the re-shoot of Metro… In Dino. With this new development, the project will only roll sometime next year. Kartik wants clarity on all aspects before he faces the camera,” the source added.

Meanwhile, Kartik Aaryan will soon start the shoot for Pati Patni Aur Woh 2 with Mudassar Aziz. ALSO READ: Bhushan Kumar reacts to Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 success; says, “It celebrates the journey of Kartik Aaryan from a star to now a superstar”

Ajay Devgn, known as one of Bollywood's biggest pranksters, recently shared details about some of his notorious practical jokes during a conversation with YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia. Ajay admitted to pulling off extreme pranks in the past, some of which were so intense they “caused divorces”

In a behind-the-scenes clip from the interview, Ajay was seen pranking a cameraman on a film set. Filmmaker Rohit Shetty, who joined the conversation, responded to the video with a laugh, stated, “This is a small prank. We once sent a woman and kids to the house of a production team member, claiming she was his first wife. We have gone to that level too.”

Ajay acknowledged the intensity of his pranks and admitted, “These days, pranksters worry about someone getting offended. We didn’t think about that back then. Hamare wajah se ek-do divorce bhi ho chuke hai.”

In a recent interview, actor-costume designer Dolly Ahluwalia recalled working on Omkara with Ajay Devgn and shared one of his pranks that left some people on set unconscious. She revealed, “Ajay Devgn was the biggest prankster on the sets of Omkara. Once a few guys fell unconscious on the set due to their prank. They had brought a ladoo made of bhaang and whoever ate it for the first time, just fell unconscious and they (Ajay and Vivek Oberoi) used to be like, ‘Don’t worry, they will be fine.’ Vishal Bharadwaj used to be a little upset, but he knew them so there was never a serious situation on set. We need such fun moments on set to work, to be honest.”

Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty are currently celebrating the success of Singham Again, with the film nearing Rs 200 crore at the Indian box office. In her review of the movie, SCREEN’s Shubhra Gupta wrote, “It’s all so same-old in Ajay Devgn-Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again that even the new locations don’t help. Neither does all the blatant-referencing-and-copy-pasting of Ramayan.”

Vidya Balan is basking in the success of her latest film, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, directed by Anees Bazmee. Reprising her iconic role as Manjulika after 17 years, Vidya reflects on her experience. She shares her initial apprehension about performing a dance number alongside Madhuri Dixit, the significance of the film's success for her, and her hope to see “female-led films” become mainstream.

When asked about her feelings after the film’s success, Vidya said, “Better than I could have imagined and honestly I had not imagined this. I never imagined that after 17 years I would do a Bhool Bhulaiyaa again and bring back to life Manjulika. I had not imagined that I would get so much love for it. I am very happy, I am so happy that the film is doing so well.”

The success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 signals a remarkable comeback for Vidya Balan, following a series of box office challenges in recent years. Though she consistently earned acclaim for her acting, her post-pandemic releases either skipped theaters or failed to make a lasting impact. The sustained popularity of BB3 marks a positive shift, and Vidya is clearly enjoying the spotlight after this much-anticipated victory.

Speaking about Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, she shared, “The film is doing incredibly well, and I'm absolutely thrilled. This is my biggest success yet. Can it get any better?”

Vidya has even more reason to celebrate—not only did she get to revisit her iconic role as Manjulika, but she also had the “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity to dance alongside the legendary Madhuri Dixit, an icon in both dance and acting.

She explained, “I don’t really see myself as a dancer. But as an actor, if the role requires me to dance, I’ll put in the effort. And when you’re sharing the stage with Madhuri Dixit, you push yourself even more, because it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Just think about it—those who’ve danced with her before, like Aishwarya Rai and Karisma Kapoor, are all dancers. So, when I got this chance, I knew I had to work twice as hard. I thought, ‘Let’s just enjoy it and have fun,’ because there’s no point in stressing about matching up to her. I simply did my best.”

Vidya is approaching a major milestone as she prepares to celebrate 30 years in the entertainment industry next year. Her career began in 1995 with Ekta Kapoor's hit sitcom Hum Paanch, where she left a memorable mark as Radhika Mathur. Reflecting on her accomplished journey, Vidya speaks about the nostalgia and emotions that come with looking back on her remarkable path.

Reminiscing, she said, “I feel incredibly blessed. My only dream was to become an actor, and I’m living that dream. Plus, I’m earning (she laughs joyfully), receiving so much love, fame, glory—so much love... I absolutely love it, I thrive on it.”

Vidya Balan has played a pivotal role in reshaping the portrayal of women in Hindi cinema, thanks to her impactful performances in female-driven films like The Dirty Picture, Kahaani, Kahaani 2, and Sherni. With Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, she steps back into mainstream, mass-appealing cinema—a shift from her recent film choices. When asked if this indicates a change in her future projects, Vidya responded, " “Oh absolutely! But I hope that the so called female- led films also become mainstream commercial films…” But why is that not happening? She says, “It will happen, it will slowly happen. Right now hume humari filmein mil rahi hai… But I think it’s time for us to take ourselves less seriously in the female-led space and to have more fun.”

She added, “There is a need for reinvention in that space at the moment. But I am very glad to have done Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and I think I want to do all kinds of films.”

Vidya recently ventured out to witness audience reactions to her film firsthand, an experience that left her thrilled. She’s still relishing the excitement of hearing viewers applaud as she appeared on screen and the collective gasp that echoed through the theater during Kartik Aaryan’s shocking finale.

When asked what makes the horror-comedy genre so successful, Vidya explained, “I think it’s the thrill and at the same time you break out into a nervous laughter. I think that’s what people are enjoying. People just want to watch light stuff because there is enough dukh dard (grief and agony) in the world, paise de kar aur tension nahi lena hai, aur stress nahi lena hai (people don’t want to pay to get tension or stressed). I am just saying that at the moment the world needs laughter.”

In an exciting development for Bollywood comedy lovers, Akshay Kumar is set to bring back the magic of one of his most beloved comedy films, Bhagam Bhag. The 2006 Priyadarshan-directed film, which featured the comic trio of Akshay Kumar, Govinda, and Paresh Rawal, became an instant hit. Over the years, Bhagam Bhag has developed a cult status, with its memorable lines, iconic characters, and laugh-out-loud moments still circulating in the meme world. Now, two decades later, it seems that Akshay Kumar is planning to revive the franchise with Bhagam Bhag 2, once again bringing together the iconic trio of Kumar, Govinda, and Paresh Rawal for another dose of hilarity.

According to Pinkvilla report, Akshay Kumar is now gearing up to reprise his role for Bhagam Bhag 2—a sequel that aims to capture the same comedic energy and charm as its predecessor. The rights for the film have reportedly been acquired by Sarita Ashwin Varde of Roaring River Productions, who will be producing the sequel in association with Shemaroo Entertainment. The sequel is still in its early stages, with the script currently being developed by a fresh team of writers.

A source close to the development revealed, “Hera Pheri, Bhagam Bhag, and Garam Masala are three of the most special films for Akshay Kumar, and he has already sorted out the franchise rights for Hera Pheri and Bhagam Bhag. The sequel is currently in the writing stage with a fresh set of writers.”

The source continued, “Three comic legends in the same film will be a treat for cinema-going audiences, and the idea is to crack a script that does justice to the legacy of their work in the past. The scripting work has just started, as the germ of an idea for Bhagam Bhag 2 is already in place.”

Released in 2006, Bhagam Bhag had all the right ingredients for a successful comedy—silly situations, hilarious misunderstandings, and a stellar cast. The film told the story of two theatre artists, played by Akshay Kumar and Govinda, who, along with their fellow cast members (including Paresh Rawal), get embroiled in a hilarious mix-up involving a kidnapped woman, mistaken identities, and a series of ridiculous events. The movie's fast-paced humour, quirky characters, and memorable dialogue delivery made it an instant favourite, and its legacy has only grown in the years since.

According to the same source, Akshay Kumar’s involvement with Bhagam Bhag 2 is crucial. "Akshay will be collaborating with another producer on the film, and the details have been kept under wraps for now," the source added.

If all goes as planned, the film is expected to go on floors by the end of 2025, with a potential release in 2026. The film’s director will be finalized once the scripting process is complete, with the creative team working to ensure that the film remains true to its roots while bringing something new to the table.

While Bhagam Bhag 2 is still in the early stages, Akshay Kumar is keeping busy with a number of other high-profile projects. Currently, he is shooting for Housefull 5, the latest installment in the successful Housefull franchise. Akshay will also star in the upcoming Welcome To The Jungle, a new entry in the Welcome series, as well as the horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla. Additionally, Akshay is expected to appear in Jolly LLB 3, which is slated for release in April 2025. Filmmaker Anurag Basu has temporarily put his highly anticipated collaboration with Kartik Aaryan on hold. The decision comes as Basu prioritizes refining his upcoming ensemble drama, Metro... In Dino. This sequel to the 2007 hit Life in a Metro boasts an impressive ensemble cast including Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Konkona Sensharma, Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Anupam Kher, and Neena Gupta. Despite wrapping up the film in September, Basu has expressed a desire to revisit certain key scenes to elevate the emotional depth and narrative impact. This decision to re-shoot has inevitably impacted the timeline for Basu's project with Kartik Aaryan.

“Anurag wasn’t completely satisfied with how some scenes shaped up, especially given the emotional complexity that is crucial to each of the intertwined stories of the film. He felt that re-shooting some scenes would help the narrative and better capture the story’s essence,” a source close to the production told Mid-day.

Meanwhile, the Kartik Aaryan romantic musical, which was slated to kick off this month, will now be pushed back by a couple of months. In the interim, Aaryan plans to utilize this time to commence work on Pati Patni Aur Woh 2, directed by Mudassar Aziz. He will start Pati Patni Aur Woh 2 by early December,” added a source.

Bollywood Hungama, in July 2024, reported that Pati Patni Aur Woh 2’s script for the sequel has already been locked, and Kartik is very excited to reprise his role as the small-town simpleton. “Kartik loved the script of PPAW 2 and, as soon as he gave his nod, the makers decided to get this one rolling soon. Knowing the actor’s tight schedule and several films lined up, the makers have secured his dates as soon as possible. Once Kartik wraps up shooting for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, PPAW 2 will go on floors,” revealed the source.

Meanwhile, the Anurag Basu musical also stars Triptii Dimri, marking her second project with Kartik Aaryan after Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. ALSO READ: EXCLUSIVE: Kartik Aaryan returns to comedy, signs Pati Patni Aur Woh 2

The Indian film industry, particularly Bollywood, has been grappling with alarming threats directed at its prominent figures. The latest target is Salman Khan, who has received yet another threat, this time linked to a song that allegedly associates him with Lawrence Bishnoi, a notorious gangster currently incarcerated.

As per the NDTV report, the threat was conveyed to Mumbai's traffic control room on Thursday night, November 8, warning the songwriter of dire consequences if he did not cease associating Khan's name with Bishnoi. The message ominously stated, “The songwriter's condition will be such that he will no longer be able to write songs. If Salman Khan has the courage, he should save them.”

This incident is the latest in a string of threats targeting Khan, many of which are believed to be orchestrated by Bishnoi and his associates. The animosity between the two stems from a 1998 blackbuck poaching case involving Khan.

In a recent development, a 32-year-old man named Bhikha Ram, also known as Vikram, was arrested in Karnataka's Haveri district in connection with these threats. Ram, a native of Rajasthan, confessed to his admiration for Bishnoi, whom he considers an idol. He reportedly planned to extort a ransom of Rs. 5 crore, intending to use the funds to construct a temple for the Bishnoi community.

The law enforcement agencies, particularly the Mumbai Police, are actively investigating these threats. ALSO READ: Salman Khans security beefed up by Mumbai Police after receiving second death threat in 10 days: Report

Triptii Dimri is enjoying a standout year! After her breakout role as Bhabhi 2 alongside Ranbir Kapoor in Animal (2023), she continued to win fans with Bad Newz, starring Vicky Kaushal and Ammy Virk. Another reason Triptii grabbed attention this year was for her dance number “Mere Mehboob” in Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video. While Rajkummar Rao was praised for his energetic performance, Triptii faced significant criticism for her dance moves.

Triptii looked stunning in the song, no question about it, but her dance moves didn’t go over well with the audience—particularly a step where she lay on the floor and shimmied her hips. Now, content creator and fashion influencer Uorfi Javed has shared her thoughts on the performance and the actor.

In a recent interview with Instant Bollywood, when asked who might benefit from dance lessons, Uorfi responded, “Oh actually dance ke liye I would also say Triptii Dimri. Oh my god she’s such a good actor but usne woh jo kiya naa (mimics), woh jo ganda sa! Oh f***.”

Uorfi further added, “Why Triptii why? Such a pretty girl, such a fab actor and she totally messed it up.”

Well, Uorfi’s opinion has left netizens divided. Some agree with her! For instance, one social media user shared, “I mean she’s right she really can’t dance even tho I really like her,” whereas another comment read, “This is the first time I agree with her!!.”

Meanwhile, others trolled Uorfi. One such netizen shared, “She's an actor, not a dancer. What is urfis job, pray tell,” whereas another stated: “And Urfi Should learn How to dress.” A funny comment read, “hello ranbir bhai urfi kuch bol rai hai bhabhi k bare mai.”

A 32-year-old man from Rajasthan, accused of threatening to kill Bollywood actor Salman Khan, was arrested in Karnataka and handed over to Maharashtra Police on Wednesday, officials said. The accused, Bhikha Ram, also known as Vikram, is a resident of Jalore, Rajasthan.

Haveri Superintendent of Police Anshu Kumar told PTI, “Based on information received from the Maharashtra ATS (Anti-Terrorism Squad), one person was apprehended in Haveri Town and handed over to them today.”

Police sources said the accused had been staying at different locations in Karnataka before settling in Haveri about a month and a half ago. “He had been working at construction sites and was living in a rented room in Gowdar Oni,” they added.

A police source said, “The accused was watching a regional news channel when he suddenly called the Mumbai Police control room and issued a death threat to Salman Khan. He is a daily wage worker and claims to be a fan of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. This is his version, but his detailed interrogation and further investigation will be conducted by the Mumbai Police. Our team only secured him and handed him over to the Mumbai Police.”

The threat message read, “If Salman Khan wants to stay alive, he should go to our temple and apologise or pay ₹5 crore. If he does not do so, we will kill him; our gang is still active.” The sender initially claimed to be the brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. A case was filed at the Worli police station against the accused.

“During the investigation, it came to light that the accused hailed from Karnataka, following which a team of Worli police was sent to apprehend him. Bishnoi was nabbed late on Tuesday and after his interrogation, he was placed under arrest by the Worli police,” an official said. The accused was produced before the local court for a transit remand and is being brought to Mumbai.

On the work front, Salman Khan is currently filming for Bigg Boss 18 and his upcoming film Sikandar amid ongoing death threats. He was last seen making a cameo as his iconic Dabangg character Chulbul Pandey in the post-credit scene of Rohit Shetty's Singham Again.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 writer Aakash Kaushik is celebrating the impressive opening of his horror-comedy, starring Kartik Aaryan and Triptii Dimri. In an exclusive interview with Hindustan Times, Aakash discusses the Bhool Bhulaiyaa universe, the supernatural genre, his collaboration with Anees Bazmee, and more. Here are highlights from the interview.

Aakash, who also worked on the screenplay for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, discussed maintaining originality in the sequel's storytelling. He said, “The entire magic lies in the one-liner that you crack, which is the film's basic plot. When I was asked to write the third instalment, I spent the maximum time cracking the plot and one-liner because that is the basic seed from which the entire story grows. If you get that right, everything falls in place because you have a direction to go. So, the main effort was to get that one-liner, which I brainstormed, and then I finally cracked something.”

He further added, “I had worked on a couple of ideas, and this is one idea I believed in. I shared it with Anees Bazmee Sir and Bhushan (Kumar) Sir and eventually the cast, who all loved it. If your base is strong, then the building will also turn out to be strong. Since it is a franchise, you have to keep the essence of Bhool Bhulaiyaa in it. I was vary of that. That is how I went about writing the third part.”

The Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise has always featured Manjulika as the antagonist, but this time, there are two. When asked about the challenges of creating an engaging story in a supernatural universe that feels fresh while maintaining its progression, Aakash explained, “After part 2, it was obvious that part 3 had to be bigger regarding the story, scale, and cast. So, since day 1, we have been keeping that in mind. After that, there is a very thin line between keeping the essence of Bhool Bhulaiyaa and coming up with something new. So we kept Manjulika, but this time there are two of them. So, you have to balance what people enjoy and what you will do differently. Ami Je Tomar has been in all the parts, but we introduced a dance-off this time. How to recreate the same thing with much grandeur by making it a part of the story was the main thing in my mind. We constantly kept this in mind throughout the writing process and even while making the film.”

Hindi cinema took a fresh approach to the supernatural genre in 2024 with films like Munjya and Stree 2. When asked about the importance of storytellers adapting to changing trends in any genre, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 writer Aakash said, “This genre has indeed been the flavour of the year. You will not find the amount of folklore and stories you see in India anywhere else. So, somewhere, we Indians have always been quite intrigued and interested in such stories. It was high time until it started with Bhool Bhulaiyaa, then Stree 2 and the entire Maddock Horror Universe, that people are finally telling such stories on the big screen. The Indian audiences were interested in such stories from the very beginning. But we have not done much about it for a very long time. We still have many more stories to tell now that it's happening. There are many interesting creatures in Indian mythology and folklore and I am very happy that now it is happening.”

When asked if he feels any pressure as a creative person due to changing trends, Aakash responded, As far as the pressure is concerned, if you are confident about your product, then the fear takes a backseat. We only take it in a positive sense to make it bigger. Taking the pressure on the negative side would only hamper the product. So, I was quite conscious of the fact that the pressure should not bow me down.”

Danish Aslam made Break Ke Baad (2010), starring Imran Khan and Deepika Padukone and then went on to make several web series. After nearly 14 years, he’s back with another film, Khwaabon Ka Jhamela, starring Prateik Babbar, Sayani Gupta and Kubbra Sait. The film releases on JioCinema on November 8. Bollywood Hungama spoke exclusively with Danish and also Break Ke Baad.

The romcom didn’t work in cinemas but is memorable today for its subject, performances and music. When asked if he feels that the film got its due after it was out of theatres, Danish said, “Absolutely. Around its release, I used to say, ‘Yeh film logon ko 10 saal baad samaj mein aayegi’! On a serious note, until today, many people come up to me and say, ‘I really liked the film’. I feel like replying, ‘Firstly, thank you. And secondly, aap 2010 mein kahan the? Aur aapne yeh film theatre mein kyun nahin dekhi’! In fact, Imran used to tell me that many who came to interview him in recent times used to reveal that they liked Break Ke Baad a lot. It’s mind-boggling.”

Sadly, we rarely get such films now, which also makes Khwaabon Ka Jhamela refreshing. Danish Aslam explained, “There was a phase when those kinds of films were being made. Many of them, who were in school and college, have grown up now and are wondering ‘Yeh genre gayab kyun ho gaya?’. Globally, there was a shift and those mid-sized films stopped getting made. Either you make a blockbuster costing more than Rs. 100 crores or you make an under Rs. 10 crore festival film. However, the urban romantic films like Hum Tum (2004), Kal Ho Naa Ho(2003), Salaam Namaste (2005) etc. disappeared. We shifted our focus to Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017), Badhaai Ho (2018) etc. which are lovely films but are not that kind of romcoms. They either have a social message or there’s more drama than romance and comedy.”

Danish continued, “Secondly, I feel that romcom is a genre that needs to be reinvented every few years. If you watch an action film made 50 years ago, you may not get the context of the society which existed then but still, you’ll get the beats like revenge, fight etc. But watch a romcom made 20 years ago and you might probably see that a lot of things don’t land and have stuff that is unacceptable now. In the pandemic, my wife (Shruti Seth) started rewatching ‘FRIENDS’. Suddenly, we realized that so many episodes were problematic and we told our daughter not to watch it. So you need to keep updating in this genre as society keeps changing. Such films have been missing but thankfully, there’s an audience that craves for such movies.”

Danish Aslam then added, “Such films are making a comeback globally. Several Hollywood films with ‘You’ in their titles like Anyone But You, Which Brings Me To You, The Idea Of You etc. released and they all worked. A show on Netflix, Nobody Wants This, also has been successful. These films are in sync with the times. That needs to happen in India and I am hoping that Khwaabon Ka Jamela is one of the first films to do so in the market. “

In the era of re-release, what does he have to say about re-releasing Break Ke Baad? Danish smiled and replied, “It’s a brilliant idea. Please tell Reliance to do so.” He also added, “Theatrical is a different beast now. Also, the film is available on OTT. But had it released on OTT now, the reaction would have been very different because I feel there’s a huge market for that cinema.”

The director then looked back fondly at his directorial debut, “Apart from getting to make my first film, the other best thing about Break Ke Baad was that I made a bunch of friends. Imran has been one of my closest friends for 14 years. We were both at each other’s weddings. We have daughters who were born 1 month apart. Even Yudhishtir Urs and Shahana Goswami have been in my life since then.”

Danish Aslam then confessed, “As for Imran and I, we are working on something together. It had come out in the press. Half of it was correct and half of it was not! Very soon, you’ll find out!”

Has Danish Aslam been in touch with Deepika Padukone? Danish stated, “I have been in touch with her on and off as she has had a very busy life since then. Ranveer Singh once told me that according to Rajeev Masand, Break Ke Baad was the first proper performance by Deepika that made him realize that this girl knows how to act. I have always treasured that compliment. I saw something in her and I am glad that the rest of the world also did the same.”

Before signing off, Danish Aslam looks at his journey and how it was great to make a film after directing several web shows, “It’s a lot of fun but making a series is like making 2 ½ films together as you are making 5 hours of content, which is exhausting. I made a film after 12 years and I had a blast. There’s something about the energy on a film set – the way you can focus on your characters, content etc. I love it. I am open to doing series as well as it’s a different form of storytelling. But I feel this made me remember that my first love would always be films. My next with Imran is also a film. That, most likely, will be my next project.”

The big Diwali release, Singham Again, had a huge weekend and trended well on Monday. The Monday hold was crucial as it marked the end of the holiday period and it proved that the film has been accepted. Directed by Rohit Shetty, Singham Again is his 10th film to enter the Rs. 100 crore club. The other films that crossed the coveted mark are Golmaal 3 (2010), Singham (2011), Bol Bachchan (2012), Chennai Express (2013), Singham Returns (2014), Dilwale (2015), Golmaal Again (2017), Simmba (2018) and Sooryavanshi (2021). Singham Again, however, stands out as it’s the fastest to hit a century, in just 3 days.

What is also commendable about the film is that Rohit Shetty managed the unthinkable – assembling as many as 7 major actors in a film, namely Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Arjun Kapoor. This has happened after years and one doesn’t know when it’ll happen again.

Multi-starrers were in vogue at one point but those days are long gone. In the past few years, some filmmakers managed to get 2 actors together but Rohit Shetty went many steps ahead.

There are several challenges in making multi-starrers in today’s times. There’s always a fear among actors that the director might not be fair with them and that he/she might reduce his/her role and go back to the commitment made before the film goes on floors. Even if the role is not chopped off, there will always be an apprehension that other actors might overpower him/her.

This is where Rohit Shetty has an advantage as he enjoys tremendous goodwill. The actors know that they are in safe hands when they work with him. Ajay and Rohit’s bond is ultimate and doesn’t need any explanation. With Ranveer Singh, he has formed a great bond. Ranveer’s eyes, in fact, light up when he talks about him. Akshay Kumar, too, had a pleasant working experience while working with him on Sooryavanshi (2021) and was too happy to return in Singham Again.

Deepika Padukone and Kareena Kapoor Khan have worked with him in the past and they knew they could trust him. At the trailer launch of Singham Again, Kareena stated, “Ramayan mein Sita na ho aur Rohit Shetty ki film mein Kareena Kapoor na ho, aisa ho nahin sakta!”

Tiger Shroff and Arjun Kapoor worked with him for the first time. Both are mass cinema lovers and were too happy to jump into the Singham bandwagon. And lastly, superstar Salman Khan, too, realized the potential of Rohit Shetty and the Cop Universe and happily agreed to feature in the cameo and hopefully, would be seen in the next film of the franchise in a major role.

Thankfully, Rohit Shetty did justice to these actors and didn’t let them down. Ajay Devgn was portrayed heroically and rightly so as he’s the Bajirao Singham, after all. Ranveer Singh took the cake with his jokes and antics. Arjun Kapoor’s career got a boost as he was effective as the villain. Kareena Kapoor Khan, the only non-cop protagonist, too made her presence felt. One might argue that Tiger Shroff, Deepika Padukone and Akshay Kumar have less screen time. However, they all got their share of memorable action scenes. Hence, the fans of none of these actors felt shortchanged.

In short, Rohit Shetty deserves kudos for giving moviegoers a chance to see so many actors at the price of one ticket. Only a director of his calibre could have achieved it and hence, Singham Again would be remembered for years for setting a new benchmark in Bollywood.

In an interview with The Mashable, he confirms that he’s been single for the past few years due to his demanding work commitments.

When questioned about his relationship status, Kartik stated, “I am single. I don’t have to send my live location to anyone. I am not even present in any dating applications. Technically, since the time I have been preparing and shooting for Chandu Champion, I didn’t get the time.”

Actress Helena Luke, who was Mithun Chakraborty’s first wife, died on Sunday in the USA. Dancer and actress Kalpana Iyer announced her passing on social media. Helena was best known for her performance in Amitabh Bachchan's 1985 film Mard. She was married to Mithun for four months, but their marriage ended within four months.

Helena's final Facebook post was made at 9:20 am on Sunday, where she expressed, “Feeling weird. Mixed emotions and no clue why, discombobulated.”

In a past interview, Helena referred to her four-month marriage to Mithun as a "hazy dream." She told Stardust Magazine, “I only wish it hadn’t happened; he was the one who brainwashed me into believing he was the man for me, and unfortunately, he succeeded.” Despite rumors of a possible reconciliation with Mithun, Helena stated, “I’ll never go back to him, even if he is the richest guy around. I haven’t even asked for alimony; it was a nightmare, and it’s over.”

Mithun, who had assured Helena’s father that he would treat her like the "ninth wonder of the world,” ended up leaving her feeling abandoned. In the interview, she expressed, “I truly believed him when he said he loved me. But as I got to know him better, I realized he only loved himself. He was extremely immature, and although I was years younger, I felt much older. He was very possessive and accused me of secretly seeing my ex-boyfriend Javed. I would get frustrated trying to convince him that I wasn’t, but I couldn’t change his deeply rooted suspicions. Eventually, I understood that he had a guilt complex; he was cheating on me and assumed I was doing the same.”

According to reports, Helena's final social media post indicated that she was not in good health, and her failure to seek timely medical treatment contributed to her passing.

Kartik Aaryan recounted, “It was a big mansion, it was dark, and the whole atmosphere was quite eerie. Just before we were about to take our shot, I was talking to someone when suddenly, someone scratched me from behind! Triptii thought I was just improvising or acting before the shot, but I told her, 'No, seriously, I felt something scratch me.' But there was actually no one behind us...”

Additionally, director Anees Bazmee recounted an incident where he often felt as if a cat was strangling him while working on a psychological film centered around cats. He mentioned that the situation became so alarming that his mother advised him not to sleep alone and arranged for a man to stay with him. However, Bazmee shared that the man fled the night he experienced the unsettling incident.

“One day, I began to strangle myself and made strange noises. He ran away, shouting, and soon a crowd gathered. They arrived just in time. After that incident, I decided to stop working on that movie, so I think it was a psychological effect,” the director concluded.
