Shah Rukh Khan, the Bollywood superstar, arrived at the Rashtrapati Bhavan last evening in style for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's oath ceremony. He was joined by his manager, Pooja Dadlani.

Reliance Industries' chairman, Mukesh Ambani, and his son, Anant Ambani, were also seen. In a video, the actor, dressed in a navy blue pantsuit, looked stunning. He complemented his outfit with a pair of black sunglasses and his signature man bun.

Shah Rukh was also spotted warmly hugging Akshay Kumar, who also attended PM Modi's oath-taking event. He later greeted Gautam Adani, the chairman of the Adani Group. Kangana Ranaut, the BJP MP-elect from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, who also attended the occasion.

In addition to Shah Rukh, many Bollywood celebs attended the event, including Dharmendra, Anil Kapoor, Vikrant Massey, Rajkumar Hirani, Anupam Kher, and Kailash Kher.

Earlier in the day, megastar Rajinikanth was seen leaving his Chennai abode for Delhi. Speaking with reporters at the airport, he said, “I am going to take part in the swearing-in ceremony… It is a very historic event… Assuming office for the third consecutive term is Narendra Modi’s big achievement, my hearty greetings to him. People have elected a robust opposition which is a healthy sign for democracy.”

The debut web-series of Zeenat Aman titled Show Stopper has found itself in the midst of a controversy yet again and this time it involves actress Digangana Suryavanshi. Best known for her work in television, Digangana has now been accused by the makers of extortion and further the lawyer of the producers has also gone to allege that the actress has made threatening statements towards the makers.

According to the reports, the producers of Show Stopper have accused the actress of taking money under the pretext of roping in some big names from the Bollywood industry. This had led to producers MH Films have filed a complaint against Digangana Suryavanshi under sections 420 and 406 of the Indian Penal Code, that is for serious form of cheating that includes inducement and criminal breach of trust. In fact, News18 Showsha has revealed about the police report filed by director of the show, Manish Harishankar against Suryavanshi in which he has reportedly stated, “During the making and after the completion of the said web series, the proposed accused kept telling me that she knows superstars like Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, and as she has personal relations with them, she would be in a position to rope in such popular actors to be the presenters of the said web series initially.”

The director also revealed that they flew to Ajmer, where under the pretext of Akshay Kumar allegedly, Digangana took away an iPAd from them and has not returned it till date. “My editor carried the iPad, which contained entire footages of the web series… She insisted that that he should handover the iPad with the entire 16 episodes of the web series. After that, she told my editor to wait outside (hotel room) as she said that she will go alone and have a meeting with Akshay Kumar, and on the pretext of showing the footage/clips of the web series, she took the iPad from my staff and till date has never returned us back,” he added.

In fact, it is being said that these reports that Digangana also demanded Rs. 6 crores to be paid to Akshay Kumar post her alleged meeting with the Bollywood superstar.

Readers would be aware that the dating rumours of actress Sonakshi Sinha and her Double XL co-star Zaheer Iqbal have been doing the rounds for quite some time. While the actress is recently basking in the success of her web-series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, reports reveal that the actress is also ready to take the plunge. If recent reports are to be believed, Sonakshi and Zaheer will be tying the knot this month, on June 23.

Sources have stated in a report in India Today that the wedding is indeed happening this month and that the celebrations will be held in the plush Bastian in Mumbai. However, further details on the venue is awaited. It is being said that the invites for the function have already been distributed, further suggesting that the entire team of Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar are invited to join Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal on their special day. In fact, the source has gone to describe the wedding invites which is expected to be in the form of a magazine cover and it has ‘the rumours are true’ written on it.

Along with the fact that the ceremony will be intimate and private, other details about this popular Bollywood wedding are not yet disclosed.

For the unversed, the rumours of Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal kicked off after the duo completed their film Double XL in 2022, co-starring Huma Qureshi and Mahat Raghavendra. The two actors are often seen sharing adorable photos with each other and even expressing their feelings for each other but have not spoken about their relationship in public. In fact, right before the release of the Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s web-series, Zaheer was also seen cheering for Sonakshi Sinha on social media.

Being one of the most awaited Amazon Prime Video originals, fans of Mirzapur are eagerly awaiting to see what season three of the show has in store for them. Last month, fans shared their excitement as Ali Fazal dropped an interesting series of photos of his role as Guddu Bhaiyya, and now, the streaming platform has teased fans by unveiling the release date of the series but with a twist.

The official Instagram page of Mirzapur shared a poster which showcases the key characters of the show, albeit in caricatures. It also showcases the death of some of them which has happened over the course of the series along with Ali Fazal’s Guddu Bhaiyya taking over the thrown, Shweta Tripathi as Golu, standing by him, along with representations of Divyenndu Sharma as Munna, Pankaj Tripathi as Akhandanand Tripathi, Kulbhushan Kharbanda as Satyanand Tripathi, Vijay Varma, among others. Along with that, they have posed a riddle which audiences have to solve in order to guess the release date as the instructions read, “Mirzapur S3 ki release date chuppi hai isme Dhoond sakte ho toh dhoond lo! They also captioned this photo saying, “Ab #MS3W poochna nahi, dhoondna hai. Toh ho jaiye shuru”.

Fans of the show have expressed their excitement by making their own guesses about the release date. Many of them believed that the poster featured several elements in seven which prompted them to wonder if the show is releasing in July, which is the seventh month of the year. “I have 2 guess... 1st - 21th July 2024 (full moon on 21st, and guns, bullets, carpets, people are 7) and other is so common as everything is seven then it's thala for a reason 7-7-2024,” said one of the fans, whereas another one added, “Month 7(July)  5 written on Number Plate, So date 5. 05/07/2024, Which is also First Friday of July.” Yet another user deduced, “7 carpets, 7 bullets, 7 guns, 7 people = 7 july”.

Kamal Haasan fans are in for a treat as his much-awaited film Indian 2 will arrive in cinemas on July 12. The excitement for the film is tremendous as the earlier part, released in 1996, was a huge success and has strong recall value. It was one of the first South films to be dubbed in Hindi, which was titled Hindustani. This Hindi version, too, found a lot of takers. As a result, both Indian 2 and its Hindi dubbed version Hindustani 2 have chances to work big time. But this is not the only Kamal Haasan film to be released in this period. Kalki 2898 AD, which releases on June 28, also sees the veteran star in a crucial role. It has come to light that Kamal Haasan ensured that there was a significant gap between the two films.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Kamal Haasan is aware that both Indian 2 and Kalki 2898 AD are huge films and he was clear that both films shouldn’t come on the same day or a week apart. He got the producers of both the films together and asked them to make sure that there’s a window between the two films.”

The source continued, “Kalki 2898 AD was earlier supposed to hit screens on May 9. Due to the elections, the makers decided to push the release ahead. After toying with the idea of putting out the film on May 31, they finally settled for June 28. Indian 2 makers, meanwhile, were eying the June 14 slot initially and on May 19, they put all the speculations to rest by announcing that the sequel will release on July 12.”

Kalki 2898 AD also stars Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan. Directed by Nag Ashwin, it is an action entertainer set in the future. Last month, the makers held a grand event in Hyderabad where they introduced the fifth important character of the film – a robotic car named Bujji. On May 31, they released a two-episode animated series on Amazon Prime Video named Bujji & Bhairava, which serves as a prelude to Kalki 2898 AD.

Indian 2 aka Hindustani 2, meanwhile, Siddharth, Kajal Aggarwal and Rakul Preet Singh. A grand event was held last week in Chennai where the film’s audio was launched. Kamal’s daughter Shruti Haasan performed on her father’s hit songs and it was a highlight of the evening.

Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif made her first public appearance since sparking pregnancy rumours. She landed in Mumbai on Saturday night. She was reportedly in London, spending time with family and husband Vicky Kaushal.

In videos shared by paparazzi on Instagram, Katrina was seen making a stylish exit from the airport in an all-black outfit, consisting of a loose black tee, comfy black pants, and a cape. She completed her look with loose hair and sunglasses, smiling and waving for the cameras as she got into her car.

Rumours about Katrina's pregnancy spread after a video of her and Vicky appeared on social media. In the video taken from across the street, the pair looked to be walking together in London. Meanwhile, Katrina's representative agency, Raindrop, has stated that the pregnancy allegations are "unconfirmed". "Request all media houses to immediately stop this unconfirmed reporting and speculation," Katrina's agency stated in a statement.

On the work front, Katrina was last seen in Merry Christmas, which came out earlier this year. Farhan Akhtar will helm the actress's next film, Jee Le Zaraa. The film will also include Alia Bhatt and Priyanka Chopra. While the film was announced in 2021, it has been postponed for quite some time.

The Annu Kapoor-starrer Hamare Baarah has faced several controversies, even before the trailer was out. The Annu Kapoor-starrer was all set to release on June 7 but on June 5, the Bombay High Court put a stay order on its release until June 14. But on June 7, the High Court agreed to clear the release after the makers agreed to delete dialogues that were deemed objectionable by the petitioner.

An industry insider commented, “This is unprecedented or maybe it's a rare instance wherein a film passed by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has been asked by the Court for more cuts. Usually, when anyone went to Court to stall the release of the film, the petition usually was not entertained, citing that the film has been cleared by the Censor Board.”

The Court, however, as per Live Law, did maintain that “We are of the view that if an individual such as in this Petition is permitted to stall the release of movies which have been duly certified by the CBFC it would encourage holding film producers to ransom.”

Bollywood Hungama has got hold of the cut lists approved by the CBFC on June 7. It mentions three cuts in the film. At the very beginning of the film, the slogan 'Allah hu Akbar' was muted. The other dialogues that were censored were 'Shauhar mazaaz-e-khuda hota hai aur mazaaz-e-khuda ke khilaaf jaana kufra hai; kufra ki sahaaa maut hai' and 'Aurat salwar ke naade ki tarah honi chahiye; jab tak andar rahegi, behtar rahegi'.

The petition, filed by Azhar Basha Tamboli, claimed that the film was in complete contravention of the provisions of the Cinematograph Act, 1952. It further stated that the film depicts that the lives of married Muslim women have no independent rights as individuals in society owing to a verse in the Quran. According to the petitioner, the makers have indulged in a misreading of the said verse.

Hamare Baarah was earlier titled Hum Do Hamare Baarah and the film's Revising Committee (RC) suggested that the title should be changed and that it should be 'women-centric'. They were told to insert a disclaimer and to give references to CBFC about dialogues on 'women marriage' in the Quran and Islamic Culture.

Further, the CBFC asked to replace the words 'Bazaaru Aurat' and to replace 'Islam' with 'mazhab'. The dialogue uttered by a Maulana in the film, 'Apni Kheti Karo .... Jyada Se Jyada Musalmaan Paida Karo', was deleted. Another controversial dialogue that was deleted was 'Gaay Ka Moot Pilayenge Aur Hindu Banayenge'. The word 'f***ing' was muted and in the dialogue 'Maa ko Allah se upar darja diya dai', 'Allah' was muted.

Amitabh Bachchan has shared images with his son, Abhishek Bachchan, from their work together. Amitabh took to his blog on Saturday and shared a series of photos of himself seated on a couch in what seemed to be a recording studio while wearing headphones.

Abhishek Bachchan sat next to him on a chair, wearing headphones. Amitabh was dressed colourfully in the images, with red trousers and yellow shoes. Abhishek was spotted wearing a blue hoodie, jeans, and sneakers. Both of them were looking at each other in the photographs.

He took to X (previously Twitter) to tweet and share a few images and wrote, "T 5035 - Peeta putra dono baithe, ek jagah hi kaam pe; jaldh aawe parde jodi, inke adhbhut kaam ke (laughing emoji)." This roughly translates to – both father and son are sitting, in the same place for work; soon the two should come on screen together for their amazing work.

Amitabh and Abhishek have appeared together in several films, including Bunty Aur Babli, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, Sarkar, Sarkar Raj, and Paa. Amitabh is now shooting Vettaiyan, which also stars Rajinikanth. He'll also appear in Kalki 2898 AD alongside Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan. The film opens in cinemas on June 27.

Abhishek's next appearance will be in Housefull 5. Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Riteish Deshmukh, and Chunky Pandey play pivotal parts in the film.

Although several celebrities have had a feud with Kangana Ranaut in the past, several celebs came in support of the actress turned politician over a slapping incident she experienced recently. For the unversed, Kangana recently won the Lok Sabha Elections the Mandi constituency of Himachal Pradesh and, she experienced this incident at Chandigarh airport. Veteran actors Shabana Azmi and Anupam Kher along with Shekhar Suman and his actor-son Adhyayan Suman came in support of the actress and strongly condemned this behaviour of the security personnel.

Anupam Kher also addressed the incident during an event recently wherein he told the paparazzi, "Mujhe bara afsos hua. Ek mahila k saath ek mahila k dwaara jo apne position ka fayeda uthakar is tarah ki harqat ki, bilkul ghalat hai. Iski kanooni karwaayi honi chahiye. Unka koi bhi rosh hai, main yeh nahi keh raha hoon k inka rosh nhi ho sakta jisne aesa kiya, but yeh apne audhe ka ya position ka fayeda uthakar nahi karna chahiye (I deeply regret that a woman decided to take advantage of her position and did something like this, which is completely wrong. She should be punished legally. She may have had her grievances which I agree but that doesn’t mean she express her anger by taking advantage of her position)”

He continued, "Bohut hi democratic ways hai (There are many democratic ways) of saying that what you have said in the past which has affected. But to do something like this is very sad and unfortunate. Not only because now Kangana in an MP or actress, Kangana is a woman. I think any kind of violence towards anybody, forget about women, isn't right. Kal ho koi bhi kisi ko bhi kisi bhi baat pe is tarah ki harkat kar sakta hai aur bahana bana sakta hai. Ghalat baat hai (Tomorrow, anyone can do this to anybody. And that’s extremely wrong)”.

Meanwhile, Shekhar Suman also expressed his disappointment over the incident and shared, “Woh ghalat hai, woh toh bohut ghalat hai. Bohut hi durbhagyepurn hai. Aesa kisi k saath nahi hona chahiye (This wrong, terribly wrong. It was very unfortunate. This shouldn’t happen with anyone)”.  He added, “No one has the right to do this. This is illegal what she has done. She should get punished for this. I understand that she might have some anger or protest in her mind but the way it was expressed was very wrong. It could also have been said in a decent manner...You can't raise your hand on anyone like this”. Adhyayan Suman showcased his agreement by nodding his head.

For the unversed, the CISF commandant slapped Kangana Ranaut at the Chandigarh airport during security check and it is being said that she did this in order to teach the actress-turned-politician a lesson as she disagreed with Ranaut’s thoughts about the farmers’ protest. The security personnel was suspended after the incident.

2023 was a special year in many ways. It began with a bang with the super-success of Pathaan. Superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s comeback vehicle became the first Bollywood film to enter the Rs. 500 crores club. One expected that no other film in 2023 will be able to repeat this feat. However, 3 more films crossed the Rs. 500 crore mark – Sunny Deol-starrer Gadar 2, Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Jawan and Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Animal. This year hasn’t been as great as 2023 and once again, everyone’s wondering if any film will achieve the numbers made by the aforementioned films.

Trade veteran Taran Adarsh told Bollywood Hungama that it’s too early to make any conclusion. He said, “It’s too early. A lot of times people say ‘Yeh film kaise chalegi’ or ‘yeh film ka kya hoga’. But surprises do happen. Let me give you an example. A premiere was held in 1991 at Gaiety-Galaxy. It featured a new actor, a new heroine, a new director and a new producer. The father’s hero was a friend of mine. It was released alongside Lamhe (1991).”

When asked if he was referring to Ajay Devgn’s debut film, Phool Aur Kaante (1991), he replied, “Yes. When I attended its premiere, people were already discussing at the venue, ‘Lamhe ke saath kaun aata hai?’. After all, it was Yash Chopra’s next after Chandni (1989) and starred Anil Kapoor and Sridevi. But look what happened with Phool Aur Kaante. One Friday changes everything.”

He continued, “Hence, one should never predict ‘Yeh film 100 crore karegi’ or ‘Yeh film 500 crore nahin karegi’. Did anyone expect Pathaan to cross the Rs. 500 crore mark? Did anyone predict that Jawan will open better than Pathaan? Did we imagine Animal doing such humongous business? Hence, the box office can be so unpredictable.”

One of the biggest films of 2024, Singham Again, is all set to release in the second half of the year and the excitement for it is tremendous. It has an enviable star cast, comprising Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Tiger Shroff. Moreover, it is directed by Rohit Shetty, who’s also a crowd-puller.

Bollywood Hungama exclusively spoke to trade veteran Taran Adarsh about the various films which are about to be released in 2024. When asked about Singham Again, he opined, “Rohit Shetty is a massy director. I didn’t like his previous film, Cirkus (2022). But one failure can’t take away the fact that he has contributed so much to the masala film genre. If he gets it right, then he can deliver a film chhapar phaad ke.”

He remarked, “Rohit Shetty right now is a wounded lion. He’ll bounce back. Aur jab sher zakhmi hota hai, toh zyada khatarnaak hota hai! That’s because he has the fire to prove his worth yet again.”

Taran Adarsh is happy that Singham Again’s clash with Pushpa 2 is averted on Independence Day, “The best thing that has happened is that they are not clashing with Pushpa 2. It’s good they are coming on a different date. And if they come on a solo date, then nothing like it.”

On the star cast, Taran said, “Rohit Shetty teaming up with Ajay Devgn and also the star cast he has assembled is something to watch out for. And Ajay as Bajirao Singham is something else.”

When asked if it’ll have the biggest opening for a Hindi film this year, Taran stated, “Yes, I am very hopeful. Rohit just needs to get it right, in terms of content. Otherwise, he has got the biggest names. And he himself is a star director. Also, Singham is a huge brand. Hence, I hope it opens with a bang and delivers big numbers.”

Hamare Baarah, which is making news for its bold approach and thought-provoking plotline, has been mired in controversy, with the makers landing in deep trouble. The highly anticipated release of Annu Kapoor, Manoj Joshi, and Paritosh Tripathi starrer, has encountered a significant setback as the Bombay High Court has issued a stay on its release just two days before its scheduled release on June 7, extending the hold until June 14. This unexpected turn of events has impacted the premiere of the film which was expected to be held this week, leaving makers in an uncertain dilemma.

The legal obstacle arises from a petition filed by activists from a specific religious community at the Mumbai High Court, opposing the film's release. Producers Birender Bhagat and Ravi S Gupta have raised serious concerns regarding the imposition of the stay, especially given that the film had already obtained a censor certificate. In a recent statement given to NDTV, Mr Bhagat explained their predicament saying, "Our film has received a certificate from the censor board. It is set to release on this Friday. We have invested crores of our hard-earned money in making the film, risked our entire life's savings, and made this film with great difficulty. We are shocked and disappointed since a stay has been imposed on our film without even watching it."

The makers of the film were already expecting trouble and had even taken efforts to ensure a smooth release. The film's director and producers met with Maharashtra CM Shri Eknath Shinde earlier this week to express gratitude for the safety measures and police protection provided right before the release of the film. However, despite all of this, the film’s release has been dampened by the recent legal development.

Hamare Baarah has sparked widespread discussions due to its exploration of the rarely addressed subject of overpopulation.

The horror comedy Munjya was released today worldwide. The film has caught attention due to the concept, the song ‘Taras’ and also because it’s a horror comedy, a genre that has a lot of takers. On top of it, it is a part of the exciting Maddock Supernatural Universe, which also comprises Stree (2018) and Bhediya (2022). Before the release, many wondered whether the Bhediya-Stree connection would come to the fore in Munjya or would the makers let it pass.

Bollywood Hungama has learned that the makers of Munjya present a huge surprise to the viewers. Varun Dhawan, the lead actor of Bhediya, appears in a cameo in Munjya. The scene is very crucial for the future of the Maddock Supernatural Universe. It probably also gives a hint on what one can expect in the next instalment of Bhediya and it surely enhances excitement for it.

Munjya stars Sharvari and Abhay Verma and is directed by Aditya Sarpotdar. Produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, it is the story of a menacing spirit tied to a tree in a sleepy seaside town in Konkan, Maharashtra. All hell breaks loose once the spirit attaches himself to an awkward Pune boy for his ulterior motive, leading to chaos.

The Maddock Supernatural Universe began with a bang with Stree (2018), starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao. Directed by Amar Kaushik, it was one of the biggest hits of 2018. This was followed by Roohi (2021), starring Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao. Then came Bhediya and along with Varun Dhawan, it also starred Kriti Sanon.

The next film in the universe is Stree 2. It will release on August 30 this year and its pre-release hype is tremendous. Bhediya 2, meanwhile, was launched last year at an event of Jio Studios and is expected to release in 2025.

Actor Nikitin Dheer shared his heartwarming experience of working with Shah Rukh Khan on the film Chennai Express. In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Dheer recalled how Shah Rukh Khan's kindness and encouragement made a lasting impact on him. Despite Dheer being relatively unknown at the time, Shah Rukh went out of his way to make him feel comfortable and included on the set.

Dheer remembered feeling overwhelmed by the large sets and star-studded cast. "On the first day, I was quite taken aback because I was an unknown. Deepika Padukone was there with her entourage, Shah sir was there with his entourage, and Rohit Shetty’s sets are huge. I would sit in the corner and do my thing, but the magnanimity of Shah Rukh Khan… Instead of calling me to him, he brought his own chair next to me and sat down. I’ll never forget it." This gesture exemplified Shah Rukh's gracious nature and set the tone for their working relationship.

Shah Rukh's philosophy that "a hero is only as strong as the villain" played a crucial role in boosting Dheer's confidence. Despite Shah Rukh's own shoulder injury, he insisted on performing his stunts and encouraged Dheer to do the same. In a tense scene where Dheer had to grab Shah Rukh's cheek and deliver a challenging line, Shah Rukh reassured him, saying, "Do whatever you want, however you want to do it. The more intimidating you are, the better the scene will be." This encouragement helped Dheer deliver a strong performance.

Furthermore, Shah Rukh ensured that Dheer was included in the film’s promotions, a first for him. At the trailer launch, despite feeling like a nobody and staying at the back, Shah Rukh pulled him forward and said, "Out of these 1000 people, even if 20 come for your character, it’s a good thing." Dheer concluded by admiring Shah Rukh's sustained stardom, saying, "When you work with stars of his stature, you realise one thing. It’s easy to become a star, but to maintain that stardom for years is a different level of accomplishment."

On June 5, celebrating the occasion of World Environment Day, many celebrities decided to share their contribution towards safeguarding and conserving the environment. Trade veteran Taran Adarsh spoke exclusively with Bollywood Hungama about his views on the first five months of 2024, what the rest of the year looks like and a lot more.

How were the first five months of 2024? I won’t say it’s a bad year. 2024 has been good enough, as we have had moderate successes. There were mid-range and low-cost films that left a mark. Comparisons with last year will happen since 2023 started with a bang with Pathaan. The second half, meanwhile, had Gadar 2, Jawan, and Animal etc. But in the first half, it was clearly Pathaan that brought so much euphoria, confidence and positivity back.

In 2024, the major problem was that both the big Eid releases – Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Maidaan – met with a disastrous fate. That’s the reason why the industry was taken aback completely. Hits and flops are of course a part and parcel of the industry. But what shocked the industry is that these films didn’t open to the desired numbers on a holiday. One can’t even argue that ‘Eid kal hai. Isliye aaj pre-Eid pe opening nahin lagi’. If any actor gives an excuse like that, please don’t believe it! Both the films were released on the Eid holiday and yet, they were disasters.

One didn’t expect Maidaan to fare so poorly. But then it’s not the kind of film that should have come on Eid. It’s a day when people want to celebrate. They don’t want to watch a serious subject on a festival.

As far as Bade Miyan Chote Miyan is concerned, it was a terrible film and it had to flop. Its debacle doesn’t come as a surprise.

Several films performed well this year… Yes. There was Article 370. Then there was a very lovely film, Laapataa Ladies, which did not get its due, but it did quite well in its space. I fell in love with that film, as it’s beautiful. It did not really get those numbers but in that space, it was decent. Srikanth has also done well.

Fighter is an average film as far as the numbers are concerned. But if you look at the expectations, it was an underperformer. After all, it featured Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone with Siddharth Anand as the director. Moreover, it was Sidharth’s next after War (2019) and Pathaan.

Crew also did very well and so Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. The music was the hero of these films. Now the songs in Instagram reels are dominated by Heeramandi. But before that, it was the songs of Crew and prior to it, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’s songs were most popular. Its makers, however, implemented the buy-one-get-one ticket-free offer. I don’t agree with it. Aap logon ko bigaad rahe hai. I have been totally against it from day 1 itself. But ab kya kaarein. Sabki apni soch hoti hai.

Nevertheless, it’s a good sign that films have worked. But one can’t expect Rs. 400 or Rs. 500 crores grosser at the very start of a year. Lekin picture abhi baaki hai. The next 6 months would decide which are the films jo aasmaan pe baithegi ya zameen pe giregi!

Jio Studios had three back-to-back releases. While Article 370 and Shaitaan were commercially successful, Laapataa Ladies is also seen as a success due to unanimous acclaim, superb trending in cinemas and huge viewership on Netflix… Jio Studios gets distinction marks. For them, to see this kind of numbers is so good. Kisi bhi producer ki film chalein toh khushi hoti hai. When films work, more projects get greenlit and made. There was a time until the 90s when mahurats used to be held and it used to be attended by members of the film fraternity. My father had made Harishchandra Taramati (1970) and I remember going on its set as a five-year-old kid. This is my first visit to a film set in my life and for the mahurat, the entire industry was present. This used to happen for every mahurat because people used to celebrate the launch of a film. They were not there to have samosa or peda. This was how the industry was. Now, we celebrate failures more than successes.

Hence, agar koi film chalti hai, toh aur 10 log film announce karte hai aur hazaaron logon ko kaam milta hai. When you make a flop, a producer faces two kinds of losses. One is the revenue loss and then there’s also the reputation loss. When you deliver a flop, dil mein ek kadwahat reh jaati hai ki yeh film kyun nahin chali. Hence, a film should work, be it of any studio or producer.

Ajay Devgn and Kriti Sanon have emerged as top winners. Ajay’s Shaitaan was a Rs. 150 crore grosser while both films of Kriti - Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya and Crew – worked… When the time is right, everything falls in place. Firstly, the title Shaitaan itself is so strong. If you present the family's emotions well, it can never go wrong. Audiences want to see that kind of film. Also, when it comes to these 1990s actors, they can’t be written off easily, be it Shah Rukh, Salman, Aamir, Akshay, Ajay or Hrithik. Yeh logon ko dilon mein baithe hai. Aaj bhi unka wohi rutba aur craze hai.

As for Kriti Sanon, I like her choices. An actor gets written off when he/she delivers multiple flops. You can only silence these detractors with your successes. And that’s what Kriti has done.

Was the election reason justified to keep films away from cinemas? Also, IPL was added to it. But I feel we lost out on two months. Summers have always been the peak period. Though it’s quite hot this year, people do want to step out. And AC theatre mein picture dekhne ka mazaa hi alag hota hai. Hopefully, we’ll recover the ground in the coming months or weeks. Umeed pe duniya kaayam hai. So, let’s not start writing obituaries for Bollywood. I am sure we’ll be getting big numbers in the second half.

Will there be overcrowding in forthcoming months? We can’t help it. There are only 52 Fridays in a year. In the second half of 2024, 26 Fridays will be remaining. And there are more than 26 films up for release, including the South dubbed. Hence, clashes are inevitable.

What are your views on Singham Again not clashing with Pushpa 2 on Independence Day? I am very happy. These are two big films and deserve breathing space.

Will Aamir Khan deliver his first Rs. 400 crore film with Sitaare Zameen Par? It’s too early to say. It’s not even officially announced yet.

Let’s talk about some of the significant releases this year. What are your views on Kartik Aaryan’s Chandu Champion and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3? Both are very important. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 of course is an out-and-out mass commercial film. Chandu Champion is the first big film coming after a gap. Let’s see if it lives up to the expectations. Both are diverse in terms of content and that’s a very good sign for Kartik.

Triptii Dimri has become big after Animal. Do you feel her films like Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Bad Newz, Dhadak 2 and Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video will benefit from her sudden popularity? Yes, it’ll add to it. I don’t think any actor alone can take a film to success unless you are a Sridevi or Hema Malini. It all boils down to content. An actor’s popularity, of course, is important but content eventually matters.

What do you think of Vicky Kaushal’s historical, Chhava? It’s a very important film but no asset or poster of the film has come out. So, we have to wait and watch how the campaign unfolds.

Will Stree 2 open with a bang? It can be a sure-shot huge opener. Both Stree 2 and Chhava are from Dinesh Vijan’s production house. He’s a very passionate filmmaker.

Will Akshay Kumar bounce back with Sarfira, Khel Khel Mein, Sky Force and Welcome To The Jungle? Why not? I am very hopeful.

Will South dubbed films score at the box office in the remainder of 2024? South films can really bring in the big bucks. Kalki, Indian 2, Pushpa 2, Game Changer and Devara have high chances. There could be a few surprises as well, like how Hanuman became a sleeper hit.

Will Pushpa 2 be the biggest opener of 2024? Yes, it can, as it has that kind of goodwill. The recall value is also strong.

Unlike exploring the usual supernatural drama on television, 10:29 Ki Aakhri Dastak promises to provide a spooky, haunting experience for audiences who are in love with the horror genre. With Rajveer Singh playing the role of a cop named Abhimanyu who is the police-in-charge investigating some inhumane murders in the small village of Chamkiya in India, he will be seen reuniting with his Rajjo and Neerja co-star Aayushi Bhave in this upcoming thriller. While we got a glimpse of the avatar Rajveer would be playing, in an exclusive interview to Bollywood Hungama, Aayushi Bhave discussed the character of Bindu, which she will be essaying in the series.

Describing the show, Aayushi Bhave told Bollywood Hungama, “It aims to entertain the audience with some spine-chilling thriller and mystery with a dash of comedy”. Further, discussing about her character Bindu, Bhave explained that her character likes to woo men and is quite interested in Abhimanyu. “I think bindu is quite practical. She only believes in charming people with her beauty. She likes good looking men and will definitely try to grab Abhimanyu’s attention as she is interested in him,” stated Aayushi. While the story revolves around a witch who targets men strolling alone at the exact time of 10:29 pm, we are left wondering if Bhave’s character has any connection to the witch.

The rumour of Natasha being admitted to the hospital started when the actor was spotted making rounds to a hospital in Bandra, near their residence. Now on Monday, the couple became proud parents to a baby girl. Post that, on the same night, Varun was snapped by the paparazzi as he was seen escorting his father David Dhawan.

In a series of several videos, paparazzi, who were stationed outside the hospital where Natasha Dalal delivered her first child with Varun Dhawan, clicked several photos and videos of the Dhawan family members as they were seen exiting the hospital post the delivery. Known for her strong roles on screen and off screen, Sanjeeda Shaikh opened up about an incident that left her scarred. The actress, who has been receiving immense praises for her role as the courtesan Waheeda in the recently released Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, is also appreciated for speaking her heart out and recently she made a confession wherein she talked about being eve-teased by a woman and how it impacted her.

Recalling the incident during her interaction with Hauterfly, Sanjeeda Shaikh revealed that she was molested by a woman at a public place and how she was left in complete shock. “I remember one incident very vaguely but it was by a woman. I was in a nightclub. One woman was passing by and she just touched my br**st and she left. I was kind of taken aback, like what just happened. We hear men smack you on the back and they misbehave, ladkiyaan koi kum nahi hai (Women are no less),” she said.

She went on to add, “If you are headed on the wrong path, you are going on it regardless. It has nothing to do with men or women, whatever is wrong is wrong. If a woman has wronged you, tell her. Because I think playing the victimhood card is very unattractive.”

Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar is a web-series directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and it also featured Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal, Richa Chadha, Fardeen Khan, Shekhar Suman, Adhyayan Suman, and Taha Shah Badussha in key roles. It is currently streaming on Netflix.

Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan and his wife Natasha Dalal have entered a new chapter in their lives as they welcomed their first child. Reports revealed that Natasha Dalal went into labour on Monday morning, June 3. And now, Varun Dhawan and Natasha have been blessed with a baby girl. The Dhawan family reached the hospital on Monday night to be with Varun and Natasha.

On Monday, June 3, Varun Dhawan was spotted outside Hinduja Hospital in Khar West, Mumbai, carrying a duffle bag and rushing towards his car, fueling speculations about the imminent arrival of their baby. In a video that surfaced on social media, Varun was seen sporting an oversized pink t-shirt and blue pyjamas, carrying a bottle of alkaline water. Despite the paparazzi’s presence, he quickly returned to his car.

Interestingly, Rohit Dhawan and his wife Jaanvi Desai were blessed with a baby girl in 2018 at Hinduja hospital. Varun had paid a visit to his older brother and sister-in-law at the time.

Amid the reigning success of the much-awaited Sanjay Leela Bhansali series Heermandi: The Diamond Bazaar, which continues to make news, comes another interesting addition. The show has been renewed for a new season 2. Yes, it will continue to show the lives of courtesans but will now be focusing on the impact of the partition on Lahore and its tawaifs, and how they migrate to Indian film industry. However, if any of the actresses will be retained from the previous season is yet to be known.

In an interview with Variety Magazine, Sanjay Leela Bhansali shared his experience of shooting the magnum opus and also discussed about the challenges like lack of time etc. However, despite the immense amount of time the web-series will be taking, the filmmaker assured fans that he is indeed planning on a second season, and he was backed by the streaming platform Netflix. He explained the details of season 2 of Heeramandi, wherein he said, “In Heeramandi 2, the women now come from Lahore to the film world. They leave Lahore after the partition and most of them settle in the Mumbai film industry or Kolkata film industry. So that journey in the bazaar remains the same. They still have to dance and sing, but this time for the producers and not for the nawabs. So that’s the second season we are planning, let’s see where it goes.”

On June 3, the makers took to social media to officially announce the second season. A video was shot at Carter Road, Mumbai, where a dazzling flash mob of 100 dancers adorned in sparkling anarkalis (a traditional Indian gown) and ghungroos (anklets) danced to a medley of songs from the series. As the audience joined in singing along, the dancers delivered the exciting news about Season 2, leaving everyone in awe.

On the work front, Ranbir Kapoor is currently wrapping up the shoot of the first part of Ramayana, which is expected to be mounted on a massive scale as a trilogy that aims at retelling the epic saga of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita. Raveena Tandon found herself in the midst of controversy after a viral video featured a man accusing her of a road rage incident in Bandra, Mumbai. Following the circulation of the video, reports surfaced of a police complaint being filed against the actress and her driver. However, a comprehensive investigation, which included reviewing CCTV footage of the incident, revealed that none of the complainant's family members were harmed or touched by the car in question. Subsequently, the police declared the case to be false and stated that Raveena faced no charges.

In a statement given to NDTV India, Deputy Commission of Police aka DCP Rajtilak Roshan shared some more details of the incident. He said, "The complainant gave a false complaint in the alleged video. We checked the entire CCTV footage of the society and found that the actress's driver was reversing the car from the road into the society when this family was crossing the same lane. The family stopped the car and told the driver that he should check if people were behind the car before reversing and an argument started between them.”

He also opened up about the argument that ensued between Raveena Tandon and the complainant as well as his family and added, “This argument escalated into abusive language, and actress Raveena Tandon arrived at the spot to check what had happened with her driver. The actress tried to protect the driver from the mob; however, the mob started abusing her. Both Raveena Tandon and the family went to the Khar police station and gave written complaints. Later, they both also submitted letters stating they did not want to register any complaints.”

He also concluded by stating that neither the actress was drunk nor did her car hurt or harm anyone. Followed by a video footage of the argument between Raveena and the complainant’s family went viral, where Raveena Tandon was seen requesting the crowd gathered around to not ‘hit her’, many social media users came in support of the actress and showcased the same in their posts.

Lahore 1947 signifies Preity Zinta's return to the big screen after a hiatus. The film pairs her with the actor Sunny Deol. Shah Rukh Khan is all set to enthrall audiences with a gritty and nuanced portrayal of a don in his upcoming film, titled King. The movie promises to be a high-octane action thriller with a raw and rustic edge. This project also marks the much-awaited silver screen debut of Suhana Khan, Shah Rukh Khan's daughter, who previously dipped her toes in acting with the OTT release The Archies last December. Recently, an image believed to be from the film's set in Spain surfaced online, further fueling fan theories about production being underway.

The picture shows a man believed to be Khan engrossed in conversation with a group of men while sporting a sharp blue suit. The backdrop of the scene hints at a picturesque location with stunning blue water and mountains, adding to the intrigue. The photo is from a scene in the first episode of the British-Spanish mystery thriller White Lines, released in 2020 on Netflix where Marcus and his colleagues meet with Mafia boss Oriol Calafat. Shah Rukh Khan is currently in Italy with his family to attend the pre-wedding festivities of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant. They left Mumbai following the IPL 2024 win of Kolkata Knight Riders.

As per previous reports, Khan's character in King is described as possessing a complex moral compass, with shades of grey that will undoubtedly intrigue viewers. He's collaborating closely with Siddharth Anand and Sujoy Ghosh to craft a character that is both stylish and ruthless.  Although plot details are still under wraps, reports suggest King will be a fast-paced action thriller that pushes the boundaries of survival. Khan will play the role of a mentor, guiding a disciple through this perilous world. This disciple will be none other than Suhana Khan herself.

Bollywood Hungama reported that Shah Rukh Khan himself is spearheading the creative direction and even participating in action sequence training alongside Suhana. Sujoy Ghosh and Siddharth Anand envision King as a raw and rustic action film with a massive budget of Rs. 200 crores. The source further revealed that Siddharth Anand was in talks with Western stunt directors to join the King team.

The lovely Janhvi Kapoor was very excited before she cruised off for the Ambanis’ pre-wedding celebrations. “I am too nervous and excited about Mr & Mrs Mahi. It's the kind of film that I know I've been waiting for so long to watch. It's a film whose moral compass is pointing due north. It's got its heart in the right place. It's a family film that has its values in the right place, especially in this day and age of instant validation and constant and instant gratification. I think that it teaches you is what it means to be really happy and what success can mean for different people and I think for women, for men, for families, for children, for parents, especially for people who had dreams and haven't been able to follow them, for people who've had a support system and haven't always been appreciated… I think it's a film for everyone I really think it's a film for India where the youth is right now where the people are right now and it really is just an honest work of art and it's a film that I know I'll be proud of in years to come,” she said.

Janhvi believes what this film is trying to say and how it's trying to see it. “I mean, the hope and aspiration with each film and in each character you see a new Janhvi Kapoor each time. I think with the kind of script, story and character that there is in Mr & Mrs Mahi and how emotionally invested I was in it and how much I guess we've all given to the film, I felt more deeply moved by my character Mahima than I have with any other character before me. I mean I'm hoping that shows and perhaps maybe that's what Karan sir was alluding to,” said the actress.

Interestingly, Janhvi played a newly married woman in Bawaal and now in Mr & Mrs Mahi. “I think in both films I'm newly married and my character's discovering marriage, so it's not someone who like knows the drill of what a marriage is and so I think that discovery of marriage was different for both characters. But what was important for me to consider is what the backstory for these characters were, where they came from and how that impacted and influenced how they process and discover their marital situations,” she said.

Janhvi became a cricket fan as training progressed and as she started shooting for this film. “I think I definitely started seeing the kind of hard work that gets put into and the kind of dedication and lifestyle commitment that's required to be the kind of athletes that these cricketers are and…. just their mindset. I have so much respect for them. I mean, I always did have respect for cricketers. But it was more from an outside perspective. Now having lived it for some amount of time, I think I'm just in constant awe of what they do and how they do it,” she said.

She is all praise for her co-star Rajkummar Rao. “Raj again is someone who I deeply admire,” said the actress. “I think my Mr & Mrs Mahi director Sharan Sharma always says this he's got the talent of a legend but the hunger of a newcomer and I couldn't agree more. Raj is one of those actors who doesn't only care about himself but in every project, he cares about the entire film, he cares about every actor participating, every technician and he's so passionate about every aspect of filmmaking and I think it's really motivating and also the kind of person he is. I was emotionally vulnerable so many times during the making of this film. He really helped in creating a safe space. Really I couldn't have asked for a better Mr. Mahi.”

Interestingly, this is Janhvi and her director Sharan Sharma’s second outing together after Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl. She feels both have evolved. “This is his second film but it's like I think I did five films after Gunjan and then came back to this one or maybe it was four,” said Janhvi. “I think we were on the same page in terms of our process during Gunjan. I think tone of the major differences was that my process changed quite a bit and so I think we took some time to readjust to each other's way of working when we were working on Mr. & Mrs. Mahi. But one thing I will say is that I trust Sharan more than anyone creatively. I know that man will leave no stone unturned if I ever have anxiety on any other film ki yeh scene theek se gaya ke nahi, yeh scene land hoga ke nahi. I for some reason don't feel that anxiety at all with Sharan because I know that he might fight with me for it, he might make me feel like shit for it. he might like overwork everyone. But he will never settle for less than a thousand percent on everyone's part. I think I would have that kind of work ethic over everything else, so I'm really grateful for him and I'm really happy that I've I have so much faith and trust in his creative vision and in his creative intentions always.”

Pratik Gandhi, who has a release today Dedh Bigha Zameen—his third release this year— has realized playing Mahatma Gandhi is not easy, even if you are Gandhi yourself. So Pratik discovered last night when he suffered an injury while shooting for Applause Entertainment’s Gandhi, directed by Hansal Mehta, which could have been worse.

When I touched base with Pratik and he said, “Yes, I’m better now. A ceramic pot fell on me while rehearsing for a next scene to shoot. And I got a deep cut on my right-hand knuckle. I got stitches done last night.”

When asked if it is painful, Pratik replied, “It is a bit painful. But it should be better in a few days, hopefully.”

Speaking of his infinitely rewarding association with Applause Entertainment Pratik said, “Scam 1992 was surely a turning point in my career. I try to convert high expectations into excitement and inspiration for myself rather than pressure. Scam changed my life!”

Telugu superstar Nandamuri Balakrishna has come under fire on social media after a video of him pushing actor Anjali at a promotional event for the film Gangs of Godavari went viral. Actor Nakuul Mehta has joined the chorus of critics, labelling Balakrishna's behaviour as "ridiculous."

Reposting the video of the incident on Twitter, Nakuul Mehta expressed his shock at the lack of objection from those present. “Not one person expressed their discomfort. Not one. Ridiculous behaviour by the gent,” he wrote. His fans echoed his sentiments, with one commenting, “Absolutely pathetic,” and another noting, “He was drunk at that time in a public event. Such a gentleman…Imagine if that was a Bollywood actor?”

The controversial video shows Nandamuri Balakrishna at a promotional event for the upcoming Telugu action film Gangs of Godavari. Dressed in a white sherwani, he asks actors Neha Shetty and Anjali to step aside before abruptly pushing Anjali, causing her to stumble. Anjali, visibly shocked, tries to laugh it off while Balakrishna maintains a stern demeanour and later scolds her.

Just days after recovering from a heatstroke, Shah Rukh Khan, along with his family and friends, cheered on KKR from the stands, his energy mirroring the team's dominant performance on the field. Taking to Instagram to celebrate the win, Shah Rukh Khan shared a heartfelt message dedicated to the team. He addressed them as "his boys, his team, his champions," acknowledging their collective effort in achieving victory.
