Late producer-director Yash Chopra's wife Pamela Chopra, who was a writer and singer, has passed away at the age of 74. The news was reported on April 20, 2023. As per reports, she was admitted to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital for the past 15 days and passed away due to age-related illnesses. As industry mourned the loss of the writer-singer, many visited the Chopra house before the last rites. Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt took to social media to pay their last respects.

Ajay Devgn shared a picture of Pamela Chopra on Twitter and wrote, “My thoughts and prayers are with Adi, Rani, Uday and all members of the Chopra family in their hour of grief. RIP respected Pam Chopra Ji. Om Shanti."

Sharing an old picture of Yash Chopra and Pamela Chopra, Anupam Kher wrote, “Saw the friendship of the world, All separated one by one. Goodbye Pam Chopra!! You and Yash ji were an integral and important part of my years in Mumbai! I always considered your smile as one of the beautiful gifts given to me by life. I was lucky that I got to spend a lot of time with you! Om Shanti."

The official statement from Yash Raj Films read, “With heavy hearts, the Chopra family would like to inform that Pamela Chopra, 74, passed away this morning. Her cremation took place at 11 am today in Mumbai. We are grateful for your prayers and the family would like to request for privacy in this moment of deep sadness and reflection.”

Pamela Chopra was admitted to Lilavati Hospital.  "She passed away today early morning due to pneumonia with ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome). She had been admitted to the hospital for 15 days in the ICU," Dr. Prahlad Prabhudesai told PTI.

Pamela Chopra worked as a singer, costume designer, and writer and was credited as a co-producer in many Yash Raj Films' production. She was credited as the writer of Kabhie Kabhie and dress designer in Silsila and Sawaal. She crooned several songs for movies like Kabhie Kabhie, Noorie, Kaala Patthar, Chandni, Silsila, and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, among others. Chopra was last seen in the YRF's docu-series The Romantics to celebrate 50 years of the studio. She spoke about her journey, Yash Chopra's long-lasting career, and how Aditya Chopra took the legacy forward.

Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, starring Salman Khan, has finally released today. There’s a lot of excitement surrounding this film as it marks Salman’s first Eid release in nearly four years. The trade and industry expect the film to work due to Salman’s star power, songs, larger-than-life feel and family-friendly elements.

Bollywood Hungama has now learnt that there’s another major USP of the film. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Bhagyashree has a crucial cameo in the film. Audiences are going to love seeing her and Salman together after nearly 33 years.” Both were last seen in the 1989 blockbuster romantic saga, Maine Pyar Kiya.

The source further said, “The makers have paid a lovely tribute to Maine Pyar Kiya. And along with Bhagyashree, her husband Himalay Dassani and actor-son Abhimanyu Dassani also feature in the film in special appearances. Those who have seen it can’t stop raving about it and feel it’ll lead to madness in cinema halls.”

Besides Salman Khan, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan also stars Pooja Hegde, Venkatesh, Bhumika Chawla, Jagapathi Babu, Raghav Juyal, Jassie Gill, Siddharth Nigam, Shehnaaz Gill, Palak Tiwari, Vinali Bhatnagar and Vijender Singh. It is directed by Farhad Samji and is the story of a man and his pampered three younger brothers.

Bhagyashree made a stunning debut with Maine Pyar Kiya, directed by Sooraj Barjatya, for which she even won the Best Debut Award at the 35th Filmfare Awards. A year after the film’s release, she married Himalay Dassani. She was then seen in Qaid Main Hai Bulbul (1992), Tyagi (1992) and Paayal (1992), all co-starring her husband. She also acted with Avinash Wadhawan in Ghar Aaya Mera Pardesi (1993), after which she took a break from Hindi cinema. Recently, she was seen in supporting roles in Kangana Ranaut-starrer Thalaivii (2021) and Prabhas-Pooja Hegde starrer Radhe Shyam (2022).

About decibel levels and a song’s soulfulness How does one reconcile a loud and very raucous ‘Aadha Main Aadhi Woh’ within the movie Bholaa with the same, soulful song we have heard in the special video promo? What is the reason for this decibel difference that makes the track sound so different?  This phenomenon highlights the difference that good song recording and the final mixing of the film’s soundtrack can make to any song. As it is, the song is used in bits within the film, and Irshad Kamil’s wonderful lyrics, with the beautiful play on the words tudke (pieces) and dukhade (sorrows) and the North-South sangam of composer Ravi Basrur and singer B. Praak fail to register as they do in the audio.

Written over a drink An old friend of mine, filmmaker Raaj Grover, has been witness to this story. Outside Shree Sound Studios in Dadar was a café called Gupta Restaurant, where several film folks would eat, and the friendly owner would keep accounts of them all, so that they never had to pay upfront cash. And then he began scribbling words, words that finally became the cult Phir Subah Hogi hit, ‘Chin-O-Arab Hamara’ from the 1958 hit, Phir Subah Hogi!

Great minds think—almost—alike Great minds think alike, as the proverb goes. And when this truism comes to life in cinema, and with a common actress and singer too, the phenomenon becomes very tangy. Anand Bakshi, in the 1970 My Love, wrote the hit, ‘Zikra Hota Hai Jab Qayamat Ka’ sung by Mukesh and composed by Daan Singh. It had the lines, ‘Tu Jo Chahe To Din Nikalta Hai / Tu Jo Chahe To Raat Hoti Hai (The sun rises and night falls as per your desires)’ and was filmed on Shashi Kapoor singing for his beloved, Sharmila Tagore. Later, in the same year, Indeevar, arguably Hindi cinema’s most underrated lyricist, wrote the Kalyanji-Anandji hit for Feroz Khan, ‘Jo tumko ho pasand wohi baat karenge / Tum din ko agar raat kaho raat kahenge (I will say all the things you like / If you want to call the day as night, I will say that too!)’. The film was Safar and it was Sharmila Tagore again. What’s more, both hit numbers were sung by Mukesh!

Bonhomie among giants The late Indeevar had told me an anecdote about Sahir Ludhianvi that showed the bonhomie among writers in the days gone by. “Sahir came to me with his lyrics for Chitralekha because it was a Hindu-oriented subject set in the Maurya Empire. He wanted me to check every song so that nothing was incorrect or inapt for that culture.” He added, “But his lyrics were so perfect that there was nothing to be done!” Indeevar later part-completed Sahir’s last two assignments, Deedaar-E-Yaar and Lakshmi along with Kaifi Azmi.

Reciprocal gesture But probably as a huge reciprocal gesture, Sahir, when approached for B.R. Chopra’s Chanakya Aur Chandragupta, featuring Dilip Kumar, Dharmendra, Hema Malini and Parveen Babi, suggested Indeevar’s name for the subject, also set in those times. Sahir was a fixture with B.R. Chopra then, but before the film was shelved for unknown reasons in the 1970s, Indeevar had recorded a song composed by Naushad and rendered by Lata Mangeshkar. A part of this song is even traceable online!

Four verses in different languages! And talking of Lata Mangeshkar, she had recorded a unique song in the 1990s for a Sanjay Dutt-Madhuri Dixit film, Yeh Jo Mohabbat Hai, which was to be produced and directed by R.K. Nayyar. A day earlier, composer Laxmikant (-Pyarelal) had actually invited me for its recording at Mehboob Studios. However, I had another commitment and excused myself. The song was recorded with an antara each in four languages—Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati and Telugu, all written by eminent lyricists in each language! The film was never completed, and I never got to hear this wonder. When I met Sadhana, R.K. Nayyar’s wife, in 2011, I had asked her about it, but she confessed that though she possessed the song on spool, she could not see how it could be made available to all!

Friendship is unconditional At the recent birthday party of Alka Yagnik, it was refreshing to see the doughty Anuradha Paudwal enjoying herself as one of the early guests. The media has always projected them as persona non-grata with each other as there were some cases where the former was said to have dubbed the latter’s songs. The fact that these two singers share a warm camaraderie indicates that, if the stories had been true, the two had soon realized the games played with them and chosen to remain friends.

Musical ‘hearing’ Anuradha Paudwal herself is taking up worthy social causes through her social welfare initiative, Suryodaya Foundation. She recently distributed over 200 customized hearing-aids for free to the hearing-impaired in Bhubaneswar, on the occasion of World Hearing Day. The recipients ranged from three-year olds to senior citizens.

Discovery channel The late composer Jaidev actually introduced three formidable singing talents to Hindi cinema. The first was Anuradha again, in her first recording, a solo, though the film was never completed. Suresh Wadkar and Hariharan both made their debuts in the 1978 film Gaman. Interestingly, Mukesh’s last songs to be released were from the album of the 1997 television serial, Chand Grahan, also composed by Jaidev. The songs had been recorded for a film that never took off and were used by the same producer for his TV enterprise. And Jaidev himself had passed away in 1987 while Mukesh left the world in 1976!

Lavish praise for a junior The late composer Khayyam was broadminded and fair enough to lavish praise on Anu Malik on the music of the new Umrao Jaan, released in 2006, a full 24 years after his own iconic musical masterpiece of that name. He told me, “I was working in much more musical times. My director, Muzaffar Ali, was fully into the subject and the atmosphere of Lucknow and we worked in the best possible environs and with total creative freedom.” It is up to the reader to interpret this remark and his final comment, “For these times, Anu Malik has done a brilliant job!”

Salman Khan is gearing up for the release of Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. On April 19, two days, prior to the film's release, the actor received a fresh death threat via email. Several news outlets have alleged that gangster Lawrence Bishnoi has threatened to kill Salman. Not only that, even Rakhi Sawant has been told to stay out of the matter.

This news comes a month after Rakhi Sawant has come out in support of Salman Khan and shared a video on social media. “Main Salman Khan bhai ki taraf se Bishnoi samaj se maafi mangti hu. Mere Bhai Salman par buri nazar mat rakho. (I offer apologies to Bishnoi society on behalf of Salman Khan, please don’t say bad about him). Me kehti hu Salman Khan ek nek insan hai.. gareebi ka data hai, ek legend hai.. Salman Bhai ke lie dua karo, vo logo ke lie ittna karte hai.. me chahti hu Salman Bhai ke dushmano ki aakhe fut jae.. unnki yaadash Shakti khatam hojae.. me Allah se dua karti hu ke koi mere Salman bhai ke lie bura na soche,” Rakhi had said.

Not too long ago, there were reports of how Lawrence Bishnoi threatened Salman Khan and told the superstar to apologize to his community after the actor was accused of killing a blackbuck during the shoot of Hum Saath Saath Hain. A staff member of the Sultan actor’s team had found a threatening letter asking Salman to have a talk with Canadian gangster Goldie Brar, in an email that was sent by a certain Rohit Garg.

In a report shared by ABP News, Bishnoi was quoted saying, “There is anger in our society for Salman Khan. He humiliated my society. A case was filed against him but he did not apologise. If he does not tender an apology, be ready to face the consequences. I will not depend on anyone else.” He went on to add that he has been harboring the feeling of hatred ever since childhood. Bishnoi continued, “Will break his ego sooner or later. He should come to our deity’s temple and apologise. Akhil Akkineni and Surender Reddy collaborated to offer an experience like never before with the stylish action thriller Agent. Anil Sunkara of AK Entertainments and the rest of the team have mounted the film on a larger scale, making it one of Akkineni’s biggest releases. Now a few days before the release, the makers unveiled grand theatrical trailer at an event held in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh.

Although the trailer didn’t disclose much about the plotline, but it seems like Akhil Akkineni is fighting all odds, including his clash with the character of a senior played by Mammootty. Talking about the trailer, a source close to the film added, “From the presentation of every character to action choreography to cinematography to background music, the makers wanted to ensure that the trailer is packed with everything that is of high standard and good production values.”

“The film features Akhil in a first-of-its-kind power-packed action role of a spy who is daring, wild yet fun-loving. He gets into the action when it’s required and he is doing some adrenaline-pumping stunts. His character is hyperactive and he is seen using some of the most biggest weapons during the film. The trailer is just a sneak peek of the action that the film has. It is going to be a treat for action-lovers,” added the source.

Mammootty too is presented as a special task force member in the trailer whereas Dino Morea is showcased as a powerful villain. Although Sakshi Vaidya as the leading lady appears in glimpses, she essays the role of Akhil’s love interest.

With Rasool Ellore as the cinematographer, Hip Hop Thamizha has composed the music. Agent has Naveen Nooli as the editor and Avinash Kolla as the art director. Co-produced by Ajay Sunkara, Pathi Deepa Reddy, the story of the film was penned by Vakkantham Vamsi. Produced by Ramabrahmam Sunkara under AK Entertainments and Surender 2 Cinema, it is expected to release on April 28.

It’s happening! Rana Daggubati and Venkatesh Daggubati came together for the very first time as the warring father and son duo in Netflix’s series Rana Naidu. The series has now been renewed for season 2 following season 1’s arrival in March 2023. An adaptation of the popular American series, Ray Donovan, the series is directed by Karan Anshuman & Suparn S Varma.

reportedly had become has become the No. 1 most-watched show in India for three consecutive weeks. It also made it to Netflix’s Global Top 10 most-watched non-English series for five weeks in a row. It also trended in Netflix’s global top 10 for non-English TV for two weeks after it launched on March 10.

Salman Khan is gearing up for the release of Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, which releases this Friday, on April 21. It’s a significant moment as it’s Salman’s Eid release in cinemas after four years. The superstar is also going all out to promote the film and ensures it generates enough excitement for the audience. At the same time, he has also started making plans for his next film, which he plans to bring out on Eid 2024.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Eid has been synonymous with Salman Khan since Wanted (2009). The Republic Day and Diwali slots have been taken over by some big films in 2024. But no one will dare to take up the Eid release date as it’s common knowledge that Salman Khan will come up with a film on the festival. At present, he’s looking for scripts and once it’s locked, he’ll soon take the film to floors.”

Interestingly, one of the films that Salman Khan is considering is from the banner of Dharma Productions. The source added, “Karan Johar is in talks with Salman Khan for a big-budget film. It’s in the nascent stage right now and all details about the script, director etc have been kept under wraps. Nevertheless, it’ll be interesting to see both coming together for a film after 25 years.”

The only time Salman Khan worked with Karan Johar was for his directorial debut, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998). It featured Salman in a memorable supporting role. The principal actors were Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji. In 2014, Salman confirmed that he has signed Shhuddhi. It was to be produced by Karan Johar and directed by Karan Malhotra of Agneepath (2012) fame. But the ambitious film later got shelved.

After Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan and before his Eid 2014 film, Salman will have one more release, Tiger 3. Produced by Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films, it is directed by Maneesh Sharma and also stars Katrina Kaif and Emraan Hashmi.

In recent times, Bollywood actress Parineeti Chopra has been in the headlines. The actress is in a rumoured relationship with AAP leader Raghav Chadha after the two of them were spotted together on several occasions. Speaking of her frequent travels, Parineeti added, “I would never sacrifice my life for work or work for my life. I always strive to maintain a balance between the two. I remember when I used to travel frequently and spend a lot of time at the airport, people would ask me where I was going and what I was doing, but they would never understand the fact that I was able to balance my life effectively. I think post Covid-19, a lot of people finally understood that.”

As per reports, Parineeti Chopra and Raghav Chadha have been long-time friends as they studied together at the London School of Economics. They also follow each other on Instagram. As per several reports, they are committed and will tie the knot soon.

On March 23, Raghav Chadha was surrounded by paparazzi and he was asked about Parineeti Chopra. The lead pair of Prime Video’s upcoming global spy series, Citadel, Richard Madden, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, have been busy promoting their upcoming series. After the Asia Pacific premiere in Mumbai earlier in April, the actress is in London for the promotions and has the premiere on Tuesday night. Amid this, while she was in India, she made some intriguing comments about the inner workings of the industry and its politics of it. Before she came to India, the actress was on a podcast to talk about her work where she discussed that she was cornered in the film industry which led to her trying out opportunities in the West.

In an interview with Indian Express, Priyanka Chopra talked about the ways in which the industry become a safe space for outsiders. “I think having conversations around opportunity and merit is important. Now that we are living in the world of streaming, there is so much more. The Hindi film industry has changed so much in the last five to ten years. You have so many talent – writers, directors, actors that come from outside the industry. When I first started, that was not the case, at all. So I think having conversations around the fact that the workplace should be merit based, that the workplace should be a positive environment, that casting should be a casting director’s job instead of the politics and the drama,” the actor said.

“I think having those conversations is really, really important so that there are no camps that actually rule casting and it is done because of merit and because of audiences wanting to watch people. I am so excited to be able to see so many new faces from outside (of the film industry) and different parts of the country who have come in to mainstream Hindi language entertainment. It gives me such a joy, to be able to see that in my own career. And that happened because my generation of actors fought for it,” she added.

Earlier, while speaking on Armchair Expert with Dax Shepherd, Priyanka had shared that she felt cornered in the film industry & that she was tired of the politics of it all. “I was being pushed into a corner in the industry (Bollywood). I had people not casting me, I had beef with people, I am not good at playing that game so I kind of was tired of the politics and I said I needed a break. This music thing gave me an opportunity to go into another part of the world, not crave for the movies I didn’t want to get but I would require to schmooze certain clubs and cliques of people. It would require groveling and I had worked a long time by then that I didn’t feel like I wanted to do it,” the actress has shared.

Priyanka Chopra is now gearing up for Citadel premiere on Prime Video. The synopsis reads, “Eight years ago, Citadel fell. This thrilling spy series, which takes viewers around the world, will premiere exclusively on Prime Video starting April 28 with two episodes and then one episode rolling out weekly through May 26. The global series will stream across 240 countries and territories in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and other international languages. Currently grieving the loss of his mother, casting director Mukesh Chhabra posted a string of photos of her on his social media account along with a heartfelt message. On Monday, Mukesh took to Instagram and shared pictures of her late mother. He posted images of her from the hospital, and in one of the images, he posed alongside her.

Sharing the post, he wrote in caption, “Good bye Ma (folded hands, heart emojis) The last words my mother said to me before she left us forever was 'I love you'. These were probably her first words to me too. I woke up this morning looking for her until I realised the reality of things. How I wish you were still here Maa, I hope you're living the best life wherever you are, happy, safe, content and eating the sweetest things that you liked so much.”

Last Monday, Mukesh's mother passed away in the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital in Mumbai. Farah Khan, Deepika Padukone, Nupur Sanon were among the Bollywood stars that hurried to the hospital to be with Mukesh.

Recent reports suggest that Aarti Harishchandra Mittal, who was seen in shows like Apnapan, has been accused of running a prostitution racket after the Mumbai police caught her red-handed in an operation. According to these reports, the police officials confronted her by posing as customers and has registered a case against her after gathering evidence by recording the events that unfolded. Two more models were caught in the racket, who is reportedly said to have been coaxed by Aarti Mittal in the name of money, and they have been sent to the rehab centre.

As per reports in Mid-day, the investigation was conducted by the Social Services Branch. An Inspector named Manoj Sutar was informed about the prostitution racket and he decided to pose as a customer in front of Aarti Mittal. He contacted the 27-year-old actress-casting director in a bid to get ‘two girls for his friends’. Mittal, who lives in Oshiwara, Mumbai, responded to his message by asking them to meet them at hotels in Goregaon and Juhu. The actress also demanded him a whopping amount of Rs. 60,000 besides asking Sutar to book hotels.

The report further stated about catching Mittal in the act red-handed. According to these reports, Aarti Mittal handed a couple of condoms to the ‘customers’ before asking them to go into the rooms and the police has captured the entire happenings on video as evidence in the case. After investigating further about the models who were asked to come to the hotel, the reports claim that the models were to receive Rs. 15,000 each for their work as promised by Mittal.

As of now, the case has been registered against Aarti Mittal under Section 370 and other relevant sections of trafficking and prostitution under the Indian Penal Code.

Following the release of Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, Ranbir Kapoor is gearing up for his next release in August 2023. The actor wrapped his forthcoming project Animal, helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, in Mumbai in March 2023. The makers had even hosted a wrap party where Ranbir had set the dance floor on fire. However, Ranbir and Bobby Deol had gone to the UK for an international schedule. Now, the schedule has come to a close.

A video has surfaced online as the Animal cast and crew were hosting a cake-cutting session. Ranbir Kapoor gave a sweet kiss to Bobby Deol. All of them were dressed in warm clothes. Ranbir called Bobby ‘amazing’ and said ‘Thank you Bobby sir. You are amazing.’

Anurag Kashyap and Sunny Leone...how on earth did this collaboration happen? Anurag Sir (Kashyap) called me for an audition to see if I would play this character called Charlie. I was very nervous, as I had not been to too many auditions before and I tried to get as much information on my character as I could. Then I was at the audition, little did I know that the director’s entire office would be attending the audition: the Ads, the production team.

You must have been terrified? Raahul (actor Rahul Bhat) was also there. That made it even more nerve-wracking. I tried my very best, gave my audition. And they all liked it! I was so surprised. I worked hard to listen carefully to what they needed in this film, and it seems to have worked.

Anurag Kashyap is known to be quite a terror on the sets. What was it like for you? Anurag Sir is not a terror at all. He is one of the nicest kindest persons I’ve ever known; especially on the set he gives all the attention and love to everyone, whether it is the technicians or actors. He definitely is NOT a terror on the sets. He is a pleasure to work with. I enjoyed every minute of the experience. I hope I get to work with him again.

How did you manage to pacify three demanding children while working long hours for Kennedy? As far as time management goes, my children have reached an age where I can have detailed conversations with them on how and when Mommy has to work, Daddy has to work, and that they need to be understanding, and that all the things they have in their lives is because Mom and Dad work. Luckily for me, all the shooting of Kennedy happened during the night.

So Mommy could sneak out to work while the children were asleep? That’s right! I got to spend time with them after they got home from school and in the mornings. So that was nice. My children are really understanding. I think it comes down to being honest with then. Daniel and I never lie to our kids. When we say we’re going to be home, we’re home. There’s no last-minute change in plans when it comes to the kids. Our children know the value of quality time and can tell the difference between quality and quantity.

What have the last three traumatic years taught you? What I’ve learnt is, anything can happen anytime. You just have to keep working hard. The entire Indian entertainment has changed, for the better. There are more work opportunities for all of us now.

Do you like putting challenges for yourself? This role in Kennedy is very very difficult. Anurag Kashyap Sir is so special. And I’ve worked very very hard. Throughout my life and career, I have tried not to compromise with anything. And the choices I’ve made are all mine. The fact that I got to go on an audition and I got the role was like a school-pass.

You mean you felt like a student passing your exam? Yes, I got the role in Kennedy on merit alone. It was nothing else. And I am very happy that today I am an Anurag Kashyap heroine. I wouldn’t change anything because I got here, to Kennedy, on the strength of all my past experiences.

Your life has been stormy….. Yes, my life has been stormy(laughs). But there has been a lot of sunshine as well. I won’t take anything away from my journey. For the parts which have not been so great, yeah it can be very difficult. But I don’t think I want to change anything.

Off to Cannes now, what plans? Yes, I am going to be off to Cannes. I’ve no idea about how it’s going to be, who’s going to do my clothes, my hair, where are we going, what will be doing, would we be seeing other films at Cannes…It’s all very new to me. I know we will meet interesting people, but how we will meet them, what we will say…it’s a haze right now.

What after Kennedy? I have two South films coming up that I’m very proud of. It does look like an exciting year ahead.

Earlier, Suniel Shetty had lauded his son-in-law KL Rahul in an interview. He told ETimes, “I am a proud father. Athiya is blessed. Ahan is blessed; he gets to learn from KL who is so calm and respectful.” He also added, “I was aware that Athiya and KL were seeing each other. KL comes from a place, which is 3 km from my hometown. Mangalorean boy. It's a match made in heaven and perhaps manifested by Suniel Shetty.”

On the work front, Shetty made his OTT debut last year with Dharavi Bank for MX Player. Directed by Samit Kakkad, the web series saw him play a gangster from Mumbai with Vivek Oberoi essaying the role of a cop. His latest web series Hunter – Tootega Nahin Todega released recently on Amazon miniTV.

Shetty will be next seen in Hera Pheri 4, reuniting with co-stars Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal. Rawal had earlier shared that the film's shoot will begin in three months and the trio of Raju, Shyam, and Babu Bhaiyya, will travel abroad for the third film.

The upcoming Bollywood film Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan has received a UA (Parental Guidance) certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film, which stars a talented ensemble cast, is set to hit theatres on April 21, 2023. Besides this, the Salman Khan starrer’s run time has also been announced, with the film clocking in at a runtime of 2 hours and 24 minutes and 25 seconds. 

The makers of KBKJ dropped the trailer earlier this month, on April 10 after releasing a couple of songs from the film. The film's trailer has left fans excited, whereas a section of moviegoers quickly drew similarities between Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan and Ajith’s 2014 release, Veeram. Amid all the discussion around Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan is a remake of Veeram, the director of the film, Farhad Samji, shared his opinion on the same during an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama. 

“I wouldn’t call it a remake. Nor would I call it an adaptation. I would say it is a completely new experience. We’ve made our film as we thought it should be made. Those who have seen Veeram would see our film as an independent experience,” asserted Samji. 

Talking about the film, the ensemble star cast also includes Pooja Hegde, Venkatesh Daggubati, Jagapathi Babu, Bhumika Chawla,  Vijender Singh, Abhimanyu Singh, Raghav Juyal, Siddharth Nigam, Jassie Gill, Shehnaaz Gill, Palak Tiwari and Vinali Bhatnagar, along with Salman Khan in the lead. It is worth mentioning here that, Khan will be returning to his Eid release after four years.

Earlier this week, Anurag Kashyap had announced the premiere of his thriller Kennedy featuring Sunny Leone and Rahul Bhat. The film is expected to be a crime drama and will have the Jism 2 actress playing a different role in the film. Opening up about her collaboration with the Gangs of Wasseypur filmmaker, Sunny recalled the time she had auditioned for the film. The actress mentioned that she was so ‘stressful’ that she felt like it was ‘the worst exam’ she had ever given in her life.

While talking to Galatta Plus about Kennedy, Sunny Leone opened up about the audition she gave for the film and revealed that it wasn’t just a couple of people, she had to audition in front of but an entire team. She said, "I went in expecting maybe it was going to be him and a producer. But it was his entire team and it's mainly all female and they're all sitting in the room. The ADs, the assistants, everyone is sitting in this room. I'm giving this audition, so nervous. Don't know why, I'm very nervous, I'm scared because it's outside of my comfort zone. Having 10 people staring at you, thinking these people are judging you on the spot and are going to say yes or no."

She continued, "Then once it was finished, he turned to his team, which then became even more scary. He said, 'So guys what do you think?' I was like, this is the worst exam I have taken in my entire life. He was very happy. It was good, it was unanimous. I passed the test."

Kennedy is written and directed by Anurag Kashyap. It is produced by Zee Studios, Ranjan Singh & Kabir Ahuja. The DOP of the film is Sylvester Fonseca. The music supervisor of the film is Ashish Narula and songs are by Aamir Aziz & Boyblanck. The film will premiere at Festival De Cannes 2023 in May.

It's been 30 years since Anil Kapoor and Sridevi starrer Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja was released in theatres. Helmed by the late Satish Kaushik, the film didn’t do well at the box office. But, over the years, the cast and crew have praised Kaushik’s efforts and loved every bit of the process. On Sunday, Anil shared some throwback moments remembering the memories.

Anil Kapoor shared a slew of pictures of director, late actor Satish Kaushik and the film's female lead, late actor Sridevi. It also features the film’s producer Boney Kapoor. Satish Kaushik passed away in March 2023 post Holi celebrations due to a heart attack in Delhi. His memorial service was held last week on his birth anniversary. Anil Kapoor was in attendance and broke down remembering the late actor-filmmaker.

‘A Don’s Nemesis’ is a book by Dr. Amar Kumar Pandey with details of his operational experiences while chasing and catching the Don Ravi Pujari. A long global chase by an IPS officer on a mission and a smartly planned arrest!

Dr. Amar Kumar Pandey, an IPS officer (now retired) and former Director General of Police, Karnataka State who has been time and again celebrated for his professional work and services launched his second book about one of his prominent operations of catching Don Ravi Pujari. Titled ‘A Don’s Nemesis’, the book was launched in the presence of several dignitaries from the police, civil society, the press and film industry and the chief guest for the event was Commissioner of Police, Vivek Phansalkar.

The book is about the single-hand pursuit of Don Ravi Pujari by Dr. Amar Kumar Pandey across the globe and finally locating, identifying, arresting and extraditing from the West African country of Senegal to India. The Don was unseen for twenty-six years but continued serious criminal activities across the country.

Talking about the book and its grand launch, Dr. Amar Kumar Pandey shared, “‘A Don’s Nemesis’ talks about the journey of getting Don Ravi Pujari to face the law in India and make him answerable to the citizens of the proud nation. It is an important case in my service as a Police officer and I think the journey needs to reach everyone to understand the diligent work of Indian Police Officers and the unshakeable faith in the fact that the perpetrators would always be brought to justice”.

At the grand launch director and producer Umesh Shukla (Merry Go Round Studios) announced the news of creating a cinematic project on this thrilling chase story. Talking about the announcement he shared, “’A Don’s Nemesis’ is an insightful journey of Dr. Amar Kumar Pandey and it's a story which I think every Indian should know about. It is an inspiration and showcases the dedication of our Indian Police Force to bring justice at any cost.”

Producer Rakesh Dang (Seeta Films & TV Productions PVT LTD) who will be backing this project along with Umesh Shukla, Ashish Wagh and Madhukar Verma said, “We are elated to take Dr. Amar Kumar Pandey’s inspirational story to the masses to see on screens. The adaptation is currently in pre-production stage and we will announce more details soon.”

The project will be produced under the banner Merry Go Round Studios and Seeta Films & Productions PVT LTD backed by Rakesh Dang, Umesh Shukla, Ashish Wagh and Madhukar Verma.

Says a source, “It is about the two men in a woman’s life. Anil Kapoor and Harshvardhan Rane play the two men in Divya’s character’s life. The director is Abhinay Deo.” The film is being shot one start-to-finish stretch in London. It is produced by T-Series.

Abhinay, for the clueless, is the son of veteran actors Ramesh and Seema Deo. He earlier directed Aamir Khan’s most explicit film Delhi Belly and Irrfan Khan’s black comedy Blackmail.

Filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane’s web series Jubilee is receiving accolades and appreciation from all corners. Each actor is getting the much-needed spotlight but the breakout star has been Sidhant Gupta who has moved from television to the movies over the past few years. His portrayal of Jay Khanna has been one of the biggest talk points on social media. Joining the bandwagon is filmmaker Karan Johar who succumbed to the magic of Jubilee.

Randeep Hooda believes that his intense love for his work has helped him overcome physical or psychological setbacks that he has experienced in life. After his battle with knee ailments for years in a row, which also caused film projects to be delayed, Randeep has persevered against all odds and is now prepared to return to Swatantra Veer Savarkar, his most ambitious project until now.

The actor recently opened up about the film before he headed to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands to resume filming of the movie. He has also undergone significant weight loss in order to play the titular role of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. It's interesting to note that Randeep is also directing and producing for the first time and has decided to expand his role beyond that of an actor with this project.

Speaking about donning multiple roles for Swatantra Veer Savarkar, Randeep said, “I work better in isolation, but you can do that only as an actor or a writer, not as a director. It’s like I was an individual tennis player before, and then they put me in a soccer team and made me the captain, and now I must make all the players play tennis individually! Juggling the roles of a director, writer and producer is a great lesson in people management because acting is very individualistic".

Elaborating on the making and research for the film, he continued, “Savarkar is my first film as a director, writer and producer. I am being fearless about it. I didn’t know many things about Savarkar before I started researching him. Most books have dedicated only two paragraphs to the armed revolution, which was also a part of our freedom struggle. Through extensive research, we will show in the movie what their actual contribution was. I am making this movie also to connect with today’s youth.”

It took Randeep a few months to get back in action post the injury, but he added that he was in no mood to slow down. Recalling the incident, he added, “I was 22 kgs underweight for almost eight months while prepping for Savarkar, I weighed 68 kgs. Post the injury, I am now 71 kgs and I need to lose weight again as we restart the shoot as there must be continuity. With age, it all gets tougher for sure.”

Legendary Indian playback singer Kumar Sanu has given his voice for a number of romantic Bollywood songs. He started his singing career in 1986 for the film Aandhiyan. However, he got his big break in 1989 with the film Ram Lakhan. His song 'Tere Mere Sapne' from the movie became a huge hit and established him as a playback singer in the industry. Kumar Sanu and music composer R.D. Burman had a fruitful collaboration in the Indian music industry. They had composed music for several Bollywood films in the earlier times and the songs remain evergreen. However, a lot many songs in which Kumar Sanu and R.D. Burman had collaborated are yet out.

In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Kumar Sanu revealed that Gulshan Kumar had created a music bank which still has several songs that are not yet released. Sanu said, “I have sung several songs for Pancham Da (R.D. Burman) including 2-3 Bengali films. T-Series (earlier known as Super Cassettes) has atleast 15 - 20 songs of Pancham Da and mine. I don’t know why they are not releasing those songs. It would have been great if they released it.”

Recalling the time when music bank started, Kumar Sanu said, “Gulshan Ji (Gulshan Kumar: Founder of T-Series) was creating a music bank that time. He used to get atleast 10-20 songs recorded by every music director for the music bank. He had established a system where a producer comes, chooses a song from the music bank and takes it. It was like shopping.”

He added, “So, when Gulshan Ji made music bank, I sang several songs for him.” “Recordings used to take place on a regular basis. We had no idea when and where or which film the song will be getting used for,” said the singer.

Kumar Sanu and R.D. Burman collaborated on several hit songs, including ‘Tum Se Milne Ki Tamanna Hai’ from the movie Saajan, ‘Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyan’ from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, and ‘Mera Dil Bhi Kitna Pagal Hai’ from Saajan.

R.D. Burman passed away in 1994, leaving a void in the Indian music industry. However, his music continues to inspire and influence many budding musicians even today, and Kumar Sanu's renditions of his songs are still cherished by music lovers all over the world.

Anupam Kher held a special event musical event called ‘Satish Kaushik Night’ to honour his late friend Satish Kaushik on the occasion of his 67th birthday. He invited a number of well-known figures from the film business, including Subhash Ghai, Shabana Azmi, Anil Kapoor, Neena Gupta, and Javed Akhtar. Vanshika, the late actor's 10-year-old daughter, and his wife Shashi were also present.

On Sunday, Anupam Kher shared another video from the night of Satish Kaushik’s birthday. It was A musical evening with his tales was part of the memorial service to honour Satish Kaushik's remarkable life. At the occasion, Anupam Kher spoke about his initial impressions of his friend and later meeting him in Mumbai. Another video from the event went viral on internet where Anil was seen sobbing. The video started with Anupam addressing the audience about his most recent conversation with Satish Kaushik. He asks Anil Kapoor to come up in the middle. The actor walks down the stairs with some hesitation at first, but eventually gives up and goes back to his seat. Anil, overcome with emotion, declines to accompany Kher and requests that his friend continue without him. Anupam Kher breaks down when he sees him in this state and chastises him for making him feel bad. In the video Anupam said, “Come, Anil. Heroes always cry and friends cry. Come,” Anupam told him, asking him to come on stage. As he watched Anil cry and turn away, he said, “Anil tu paagal hai. Main theek thaak jaara tha (Anil you are mad. I was doing so well).”

Legendary actor Satish Kaushik passed away on March 9 following a cardiac arrest, and veteran actor Anupam Kher bid a heartfelt farewell to him. Kher was the first celebrity to share the news of the demise of late actor-director Satish Kaushik.

Anupam Kher and late actor Satish Kaushik were National School of Drama (NSD) graduates and they had been friends since then.

Emmay Entertainment, which recently produced the Rani Mukerji starrer Mrs. Chatterjee Vs. Norway, is now said to be collaborating with Shriya Pilgaonkar for an upcoming project, which is also to feature Kota Factory fame Jitendra Kumar. A source close to the production house learnt that they have roped her in as the lead actress for an upcoming film but a confirmation is awaited from the team of the film as well Shriya.

Shriya Pilgaonkar, who is known for Guilty Minds, Taaza Khabar, Broken News, among others, is said to have teased the audiences too a while ago by sharing a picture with Emmay Entertainment’s Nikhil Advani. The photo also featured actor-filmmaker Saurabh Shukla who will also be directing the film. The source close to the film said, “Shriya Pilgaonkar is all set to star opposite Jitendra Kumar in Nikhil Advani next production which is supposedly directed by Saurabh Shukla. While more details are under wraps, we are excited to see this fresh pairing in an out and out commercial film by the production house.”

The source also added that both the actors have finished the shoot for the project. While we had earlier learnt about Jitendra being part in Emmay's next, Shriya is the latest addition to the team. Talking about Jitendra Kumar, he is known for his performances in web shows like Kota Factory 2 and Panchayat 2.

Anupam Kher held a special ceremony to honour his late buddy Satish Kaushik on the occasion of his 67th birthday. He invited a number of well-known figures from the film business, including Subhash Ghai, Shabana Azmi, Anil Kapoor, Neena Gupta, and Javed Akhtar. Vanshika, the late actor's 10-year-old daughter, and his wife Shashi were also present.

When Anupam spoke during the event about late friend Satish Kaushik, he started crying on stage. Tears were also shed by Anil Kapoor, who was seated in the crowd quietly. Anupam said, “Satish passed away but our friendship has survived all ups and downs and has seen the most amazing gift has given to us. Anil has prepared a small audio-visual for Satish, we will see that. Then I will request Anil to come and talk.” While this was going on, Anil repeatedly told that he wouldn't come on stage, to which Anupam told him, “You will have to come. No no, you have to come. That's okay. I'm also dealing with it. I can't deal with it alone.” Anupam further added, “(He was) underrated sometimes, but he was so brilliant. He never decided to market himself. He was amazing.”

Anupam said, “On the 9th, 7th he came on my birthday, he called me up, maine kaha, 'Tu bohut thaka hua sound karraha hai' (I said, ‘You sound very tired'). Kyu aesa karraha hai? Tu aesa kar hospital mein chala ja, check-in kar, don't admit yourself, go and check in'. Toh usne kaha, 'Don't worry, main abhi marne waala nahi hoon' (Why is that so? Go to the hospital and check-in. He said, 'Don't worry, I am not going to die'). And after three hours he, unfortunately, left us.”

Anupam had earlier revealed why he decided to celebrate the birthday of his friend of 48 years. Ever since his exit from Dharma Productions, Ayan Mukerji has been flooded with offers from across production houses. Of all the offers he received, the director decided for himself to direct the epic YRF Spy Universe Film, War 2 with Hrithik Roshan and NTR Jr. in lead. "The minute Aditya Chopra saw Brahmastra, he knew that Ayan had the potential to direct a stylish action film. He made an offer to Ayan and the director was more than happy to enter the YRF Spy Universe. Ayan is in fact excited to be groomed by the best in business," a source told Bollywood Hungama.

At YRF, Ayan will be getting the best of the technicians from the West. "Ayan is being handsomely paid to direct War 2. He has signed the contract of Rs. 32 crores as directorial fees for War 2 and the director is all gearing up to start the pre-production work this month. Ayan intends to take War 2 on floors by November and call it a wrap in a year's time," the source told Bollywood Hungama further.

War 2 is slated to release by the end of 2024 or early 2025 and will be the sixth film in YRF Spy Universe after Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, and Tiger 3. The film will be a continuation of episodes post Tiger 3 and will eventually lead to the epic face-off between Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan in Tiger vs Pathaan.

With Rs. 32 crores for directing War 2, Ayan Mukerji has become one of the highest-paid directors at YRF, right after Siddharth Anand.
