Zayed Khan recently completed 20 years in the film industry. His thriller, Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne was released on March 21, 2003, and on this special occasion, the actor put up a dashing picture on his Instagram handle and promised his followers that his next release is around the corner. A few days after this post, which got loads of appreciation, Bollywood Hungama exclusively spoke to Zayed Khan. The actor looked quite dashing and seemed excited as he opened up about his comeback film, TFTNW, where, in his own words, the butt of jokes is him. The film’s idea and concept came from actor Aseem Merchant, who also produced the film. Aseem, Zayed and Mohit Srivastava and Kavin Dave have penned the script while Mohit has also directed this mockumentary film. As per reports, the film stars 15-20 prominent Bollywood personalities in cameos like Riteish Deshmukh, Farah Khan, Suzanne Khan, Jackie Shroff etc. Zayed Khan remained tightlipped about this aspect, the meaning of the title and on which digital platform it’ll premiere. However, Zayed was more than happy to share how he became a part of the film. Zayed Khan began by saying, “For the first 10 years, I gave it my all. I lived out of the suitcase as I went for shoots, events, performances, shows etc. I also had children at a really early age. I read the biography of a very famous gentleman who stated how he missed out on the growing years of his children. It just struck me that my kids are growing up and I want to spend time with them. I consciously decided to step back. That’s the worst thing to do! On one level, it was really nice as I got to experience a lot of things I wanted, as a father. I took them on holidays. I am a sportsman myself and introduced them to sports like diving. But when you completely disappear from the radar, people forget easily.” Zayed Khan continued, “When I wanted to come back into the industry, I realized that it was very hard. Of course, you have friends and people who can help you out. They are, however, not the ones who take the call. The audience is the one who makes the call. The studios represent what the audience demands. Also, things had changed a lot. People don’t have the time and patience to watch a 2 ½ hour-long film. Many will of course ask, ‘Who the hell is Zayed Khan?’.” He added, “Also, my kids had never really seen me in action, on a film set. Everytime I go out with family and friends, there’ll be people taking pictures with me. They didn’t really get why this frenzy was there around me.” It’s Zayed Khan’s children, Zidaan and Aariz Khan, who gave him the much needed push, “One day, my kids came up to me and said, ‘Why don’t you resume acting?’. I replied, ‘If that happens, I won’t get time to see you guys’. They were fine with it and insisted that they would want to see me work in movies. They helped germinate the idea.” Zayed stated, “Then, I met a lot of people and tried to produce. But the warmth that was given to me when I was a star was very different. It dawned on me that this is a star-based system. One can believe that writing is now paramount and things are streamlined. But at the end of the day, everyone wants to know who’s starring in your film or show. You can write a work as great as that of Shakespeare but nobody will give a damn if a star is not mouthing your lines.” Things, however, changed for the better for Zayed. He narrated, “One day, I was a little low. A friend, Aseem Merchant, walked in. He looked at me and asked, ‘You are such a lovely, good-looking guy. Why the hell are you not doing anything?’. It’s an easy question to ask but very difficult for me to answer! How do I tell him that I tried, went to a lot of places and irrespective of where I come from, it didn’t work out? I didn’t say that. I replied, ‘I don’t know, man. Let’s see what happens’. This is when he said that he has an idea and wants to cast me. I looked at him with dodgy eyes and asked, ‘Why do you want to do a film with me?’! Aseem simply said, ‘The best is yet to come from you’! It was nice to see somebody having some faith in me.” Zayed further said, “Aseem then narrated the idea of TFTNW. On the face of it, it sounded promising. But I was apprehensive. I mean I was already down and then I do a film where the butt of the jokes is on me. What if things get messed up at the execution level? However, I have been brought up with the attitude that ‘No risk, no reward’. I also asked, ‘What do I have to lose?’” Zayed described the writing process and said, “When I read the first script, I could see that the writers (Aseem Merchant, Mohit Srivastava and Kavin Dave) had a lot of reservations about not trying to hurt me too much! I told them to push the envelope. I was ready to be the butt of all jokes. I told them, ‘If you feel some jokes are going to hurt my sentiments, make it f*****g funny while you do so’! That’s when they cleared their feathers out and came back with another draft. From here on, the writing went to another crazy level.” Zayed is all praises for Aseem Merchant, “I’d like to make a special mention of Aseem and his daughter Sasha. They both are an incredible team. They made a blind bet by signing me. I want to also specially mention Mohit Srivastava, the director. He is very sound technically and never bogged down under pressure. The whole unit was like one big happy family. So overall, it was a great journey. I discovered so much about myself all over again.” Zayed then explains why he’s so confident about TFTNW, “We had a focus group screening. It had 100 people from the ages of 10 to 90 years old and different walks of life. My kids also attended the screening. Their response blew us! My kids watched it 7 times. They have never seen any of my films 7 times besides probably Main Hoon Na (2004)! Every time we’ll have a focus screening, they’ll ask me, ‘Papa, can we watch it again?’. I asked, ‘Do you really want to watch it or are you saying it to make me feel good?’. But they assured me that they loved the film.” Zayed Khan signed off by saying, “It was so heartening to see not just children but even teenagers, the elderly, and middle-aged people - all loving TFTNW. It’s very hard to achieve this feat. The mega star Ajay Devgn, also called ‘Mass Maharaja’ by his fans, turns 54 today. It’ll be a special birthday for him today as his much-awaited biggie, Bholaa, was released just a few days ago. Thankfully, it is doing quite well and has given him a reason for a double celebration. Interestingly, if Bholaa sustains well, it’ll be his second consecutive success after the mega-blockbuster, Drishyam 2 (2022). This will be a rare instance for an actor in the post-pandemic era, where even the biggest of films are falling like nine pins. Also, it was said that remakes won’t work in Bollywood. Ajay Devgn proved this notion wrong not once but twice as both Drishyam 2 and Bholaa have been adapted from South films. Ajay Devgn’s box office achievements are known and a lot has been written about it. This article, however, will focus on the lesser-known aspect of how he has always given back to the industry, like no other actor. Not many know that Ajay Devgn is also an exhibitor and runs a chain of cinemas called NY Cinemas. In a thoughtful gesture, this cinema chain has acquired theatres that were shut down and have refurbished them. The ticket rates in these theatres are reasonable and some of them are located in towns which had no cinema hall. It has been said time and again that India is heavily under-screened and if there are more theatres, the business can expand. In this regard, Ajay has done a great service to the industry. In a Bollywood Hungama exclusive interview after the release of Golmaal Again (2017), Ajay Devgn said, “I have started taking theatres that have been shut down in Uttar Pradesh. Till now, I already have 4 theatres running. I intend to take the number to 150 or 200. 80 theatres in UP have shut down and these are in cities which have a population of around 10 lakhs. If you add the total population of such towns, imagine the number of people who are not getting to see a film due to the lack of theatres in their towns. The locals have to travel 80 km to catch a film. They’ll do it for a film like Golmaal but why would they (take so much effort) for a film that they are not excited about or doesn’t have the cinematic experience?” Then, in 2015, Ajay Devgn established NY VFXWaala and has constantly attempted to provide top-class CGI in films. This studio has worked on films like Dilwale (2015), Bajirao Mastani (2015), Dangal (2016), Shivaay (2016), Baahubali 2 (2017), Jagga Jasoos (2017), Golmaal Again (2017), Padmaavat (2018), Simmba (2018), Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior (2020) etc. It has won a National Award for Shivaay. It has been majorly instrumental in having a setup where films can be shot in controlled environments against green screens and not in challenging outdoor locations. Saif Ali Khan, in an interview in 2020, drew an interesting parallel between acting in Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior and Laal Kaptaan (2019), “Everything you see on screen (in Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior) is Filmistan Studios. From setting up Covid wards to helping more than 300 stunt artists to donating oxygen cylinders to organizing free Covid-19 vaccination camps, Ajay Devgn proved that he has a heart of gold and truly cares for the situation. Even his non-Covid related social work like paying fees of students belonging to economically weak sections to donating rickshaws and sewing machines to the unemployed to regularly donating food to the poor in rural areas are praiseworthy efforts. The beauty of Ajay Devgn is that he silently works on these fronts and will never shout from the rooftops about it. If a mediaperson asks him about these initiatives, he’ll prefer not to answer. Hence, it’s not surprising that many readers are not aware of this side of Ajay Devgn. And that’s Ajay for you – a man who believes simply in working round the clock and giving back to the industry and the society that made him a star. Actress Nimrat Kaur is all set to kickstart her 2023 on a great note as she is excited about the projects that lined-up to release this year. The actress gained recognition for her role in the critically acclaimed film The Lunchbox in 2013. She has appeared in several films such as Airlift, The Test Case," and was last seen in Dasvi alongside Abhishek Bachchan and Yami Gautam. Nimrat Kaur is all set to rule 2023 with her films. Director Siddharth Anand has delivered two monstrous hits back to back with War and now Pathaan, which has also become the all-time highest-grossing Hindi film worldwide in the history of cinema. He feels a ‘huge sense of vindication’ with Pathaan proving that people want to come to theatres to see films that give audiences a larger-than-life experience! Siddharth and the visionary S.S. So, there was a period where cinemas were shut and we couldn’t release our films, people weren’t coming back – so there was a prolonged break for our films.” He adds, “And those films were made pre-pandemic, there is a mindset that has changed post-pandemic. There is a viewing pattern that has changed. And those films were unfortunately victims of that change. Even when I was making War, there was a sense of parallel cinema is the new commercial cinema in 2018-2019. You had small independent films and big ideas doing much better than tentpole films till War happened. That time also I felt that – Oh my God, has the viewing pattern changed but War again proved if you make a good cinematic experience film for our masses people will come to theatres.” Siddharth has delivered the biggest hits of superstars Shah Rukh Khan & Hrithik Roshan in these high octane spy films. In the complaint, Singh has alleged that Taapsee Pannu wore a revealing outfit while adorning temple jewellery with Goddess Laxmi’s statue in the locket. An official was quoted in ANI reports, opening up about the complaint registered against the actress saying, “We received a complaint from Eklavya Gaur (son of BJP MLA Malini Gaur) against actor Taapsee Pannu for hurting religious sentiments and image of ‘Sanatan Dharma’ by wearing a locket having ‘Goddess Laxmi’ with revealing dress during ramp walk at Lakme Fashion Week held on March 12 in Mumbai.” The officials have asserted that investigation of the matter in currently in process. Karan Johar is getting ready for the new season of his smash-hit talk show Koffee With Karan. Preparations are on to lock in the dates for Season 8. Filmmaker Om Raut and producer Bhushan Kumar recently visited the holy Vaishno Devi temple on the occasion of Navratri and to seek blessings for their upcoming keenly awaited film Adipurush, which stars Prabhas and Kriti Sanon in lead roles. For the unversed, Vaishno Devi is one of the foremost pilgrimage sites in India, situated in Jammu and Kashmir. Sharing more about the visit, a statement from the makers said, “Remarking the creation of universe and beginning of the world by Maa Shri Durga, Chaitra Navratri holds immense significance in the Hindu culture! With this belief and Shri Gulshan Kumar’s immense faith in Maa Vaishno Devi, the makers seek divine blessings for Adipurush.” Adipurush is the retelling of the great Indian epic Ramayana. The film will see Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Sunny Singh and Saif Ali Khan essay the roles of Lord Ram, Sita, Lakshman and Raavan respectively. Sharing more about the film, Kriti had told the agency PTI (Press Trust of India) earlier this year, “It is a film that the entire team is extremely proud of. Prime Video recently announced the fictional drama Jubilee which has left the audience excited ever since the first look of the series. The Amazon Original series which is set parallel to the evolution of both India and the Hindi film industry is a layered drama, interwoven with multiple characters - a studio boss, his movie-star wife, a trusted aide, a rising star, a nautch girl, and a refugee - and their dreams and ambitions. Nawazuddin Siddiqui has moved the court for defaming and maligning his image and has filed a defamation suit against Shamas Nawab Siddiqui and former wife Aaliya Siddiqui seeking damages of Rs. 100 crores. As per current reports, the hearing will be held on March 30 by Justice RI Chagla. The suit has come after several allegations were thrown against the Kick actor after his wife accused the Siddiqui family of harassment and torture. In his suit, the actor has alleged that the allegations thrown towards him has affected his public image. In the suit that has been filed through advocate Sunil Kumar, Nawazuddin Siddiqui has alleged that he is unable to make any kind of appearances or attend social gatherings owing to the many accusations thrown towards him. He has alleged that these ‘misleading claims’ have impacted his career and hence, he has also requested the court to pass an order of injunction to restrict his brother and estranged wife Anjana Pandey alias Aaliya Siddiqui from making any more defamatory comments against him, along with a request added for taking down the already existing remarks and statements against him. Furthermore, in the same suit, Nawazuddin Siddiqui has also alleged that his brother has committed several fraudulent transactions which has resulted in major monetary loss for the actor. The actor has further alleged that due to misappropriation of funds, the actor currently owes a whopping amount of Rs. 37 crores to the government, after his brother failed to make some major payments. Furthermore, he has also accused his wife Aaliya Siddiqui of being an accomplice to his brother and misappropriating Rs. 21 crores. As per the given report, when Nawazuddin confronted his brother regarding the missing funds, the latter is claimed to have ‘instigated’ Nawaz’s estranged wife against the Siddiqui family, which led to her alleging that how her in-laws tortured and harassed her. With the hearing to be held on March 30, it is yet to be seen how the case proceeds. The process of healing after Amitabh Bachchan’s recent injury on the sets of Nag Ashwin’s Project K in Hyderabad, is taking longer than expected. “Even when the ribs are repaired, he won’t be allowed to shoot for a while,” says a close family friend. Mr Bachchan who will turn 81 in October, is raring to get back on his feet. “He is getting extremely restless. It’s been three weeks since he has been advised complete bedrest. He’s done with his quota of binge-watching and reading. He wants to get back to shooting ASAP, which doctors have advised him against,” the family friend reveals. It is likely that the mega-star, known to have suffered near-fatal accidents and illnesses in the past, would get back on his feet and resume shooting against doctors’ advice. Over a week ago, Bollywood actor Salman Khan's security was beefed up by the Mumbai Police after one of his associates, Jordy Patel, received a threat via an email. His close friend Prashant Gunjalkar filed a complaint regarding the same and a case was registered at the Bandra Police Station in Mumbai against gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, Goldy Brar and a person named Rohit Garg under IPC sections 506(2),120(b) & 34. Now, Mumbai Police has arrested a man named Dhakad Ram Bishnoi in Jodhpur in connection with the email threatening case. As per reports, Dhakad Ram Bishnoi (21) is a resident of Siyagon ki Dhani in Rohicha Kalan village in Jodhpur. He was reportedly out on bail under the Arms Act. Gaurav Yadav, Jodhpur’s DCP (West), said that a team from Mumbai’s Bandra Police had arrived to arrest him. “They asked us to assist them in detaining Bishnoi. We provided them with the support and handed Bishnoi over to the Mumbai PoliceYadav said, as reported by PTI on Sunday. "After a detailed technical investigation into the case, police got information about the accused person's whereabouts, following which a team was sent to Rajasthan and the man was apprehended," a police official said. According to a previous report in PTI, a police official said that “two Assistant Police Inspector (API)-rank officers and eight to ten constables will be part of Khan's security detail round the clock.” The official also added that fans won’t be allowed to assemble outside Salman’s Galaxy Apartments residence in Bandra. It was earlier reported that Y-plus security has been provided to Salman Khan by the police. He will also travel in bullet-proof car with his personal security detail. Additional security measures have also been given to the actor. As per reports, a person named Rohit Garg allegedly issued the threat and mentioned Goldy Brar, Canadian gangster's name, saying the latter wants to meet the actor in person. Recently, Lawrence Bishnoi also allegedly said that killing Salman is his life's goal. In a recent report shared by ABP News, Bishnoi was quoted saying, “There is anger in our society for Salman Khan. He humiliated my society. A case was filed against him but he did not apologize. If he does not tender an apology, be ready to face the consequences. I will not depend on anyone else.” He went on to add that he has been harboring the feeling of hatred ever since childhood. Bishnoi continued, “Will break his ego sooner or later. He should come to our deity’s temple and apologize. Rajkummar Rao, whose film Bheed was recently released, addressed the rumors claiming that he had undergone plastic surgery. In a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, Rajkummar was asked the question. In response, the actor revealed that he finds it amusing and can't help but smile whenever he reads or hears about such speculations. “Nahi bhaiyya, koi plastic surgery nahi hue (No, there was no plastic surgery),” the actor replied before adding, “Kuch nahi smile aati hai chehre pe. Nice, log baat kar rahe hai (Nothing, I just smile. People are speaking).” Previously, the Ludo actor also spoke about how his appearance led to him being turned down for roles in the film industry. In a previous interview with Bollywood Bubble, Rajkummar had spoken about the comments he used to receive on his appearance during the start of his career. He had said, “Of course I was told so many things. You are not tall enough, your built is not right, your eyebrows are not in a certain shape and very weird things. And I was like what, what about acting? That’s the thing which will take you forward and nothing else. Eventually, the talent stays and nothing else remains.” Starring Rajkummar Rao, Bhumi Pednekar, Pankaj Kapur and Dia Mirza, Bheed is about the hardships faced by a section of the people because of the lockdown imposed in 2020 to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. The actor was recently spotted shooting in a hospital for the crime drama by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The film also stars Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Rashmika Mandanna in pivotal roles. The team intends to shoot some action and dramatic sequences with Ranbir, Bobby, and Anil Kapoor.” The overseas leg is touted to be one of the most important schedules of Animal, as Sandeep has planned to shoot a few of the most important portions of the film overseas. “He reserved the best for the end. Ajay Devgn is gearing up for the release of his highly awaited film Bholaa. It is all set to arrive in cinemas in less than a week, on Thursday, March 30, and there’s significant buzz around it. Once the big-budget action entertainer is out, the superstar won’t have time to sit back and relax as he’ll be resuming the shoot for Neeraj Pandey’s Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha. Producer Shreyans Hirawat of NH Studioz yesterday spoke about it and also shared interesting details about the film’s release period. Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha’s first schedule took place in February 2023. As per a report in Mid-day, the second schedule has commenced in Film City, Goregaon with Jimmy Sheirgill and Saiee Manjrekar. Ajay Devgn and the female lead Tabu are all set to join the shoot from the first week of April. The report also quotes Shreyans Hirawat who stated that the principal filming is expected to get over by Mid-day. He also added that they plan to release Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha around Diwali. The highly-awaited Tiger 3, starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, is already scheduled to hit screens on the Festival of Lights. It now remains to be seen if Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha clashes with Tiger 3 or does it release a few weeks before or after Diwali. Besides Mumbai, Neeraj Pandey’s directorial will also be shot in Lucknow and in overseas. The film’s music is composed by Oscar winning music director M M Keeravani. As per reports, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha is a love story that spans 19-20 years, from 2002 to 2023. On this, Shreyans Hirawat confessed that the film is a romantic thriller and though it has action, it won’t be a “typical Neeraj Pandey film”. Interestingly, Tabu also features in Bholaa and was also in Ajay Devgn’s previous release, Drishyam 2 (2022). Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha will see both the actors teaming up for the tenth time. Released in 2015, Bajrangi Bhaijaan not only became one of the biggest hits but also a film that found mass acceptance. Starring Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan and child actress Harshali Malhotra, the film about the unusual bond between a simpleton Indian and a little Pakistani girl moved hearts. Last year, fans of Salman Khan had a moment of rejoice when the sequel of Bajrangi Bhaijaan titled Pavan Putra was announced. The thought of seeing their favourite star essay the same role again was reason enough to excite them. But there was no update on the project following the announcement. But now, Bollywood Hungama has learnt that Salman has brought Pooja Hegde on board for Pavan Putra. In other words, the film will see her replacing Kareena Kapoor. Whether Pooja will play the same character that Kareena played in the first film is not known yet. Interestingly, Pooja is also the leading lady in Salman’s upcoming release Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. Directed by Farhad Samji, the film is all set to release during Eid in April this year. For the unversed, Bajrangi Bhaijaan told the story of a mute Pakistani girl Munni (Harshali), who gets separated from her mother when the latter had visited India with her for a religious purpose. A happy-go-lucky Bajrangi (Salman) comes across Munni and makes it a mission to reunite her with her mother in Pakistan. The film also starred Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the role of a Pakistani TV journalist Chand Nawab. I am taking time.” Aditya will be playing a double role in his upcoming movie Gumraah which also stars Mrunal Thakur. He said, “I have never done a double role in any film. It was a challenge, but maazaa aa gaya. Both the characters, we had to make them look different. I did diction classes and made both the characters sound different. The challenge you face when working on a thriller is to be one step ahead of audience and not vice versa.” Speaking about her role as a police officer in the movie, Mrunal said, “When you play a cop there is a responsibility. Vardi pehen na mushkil hai...there are lot of shades, lot of ups and downs. My entire family belongs to the police department. I took anecdotes and stories from them and incorporated them in my performance.” Gumraah is inspired by the Tamil film Thadam. The teaser revolves around an intense face-off between Mrunal Thakur and Aditya Roy Kapur. Helmed by debutant director Vardhan Ketkar, the film is being produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Murad Khetani’s Cine1 Studios. It is slated to release in cinemas on April 7, 2023. Apart from Gumraah, Aditya will also be next seen in Anurag Basu’s Metro In Dino with an ensemble cast. Mrunal was last seen in Sita Ramam with Dulquer Salmaan. She also had a cameo in Akshay Kumar starrer Selfiee. She was seen shaking a leg with Akshay in the song ‘Kudiye Ni Teri’. She will also be seen in Pippa opposite Ishan Khatter. Sonu Nigam’s father Agamkumar Nigam has filed an FIR (First Information Report) against his former driver for allegedly stealing Rs. 72 lakh from his residence in Mumbai. The singer's father lives at Windsor Grand building in Oshiwara, Andheri west. The alleged robbery took between March 19 and March 20. The FIR was registered by Sonu Nigam's sister Nikita who reached Oshiwara police station in the wee hours of Wednesday. As per the complaint, Agamkumar Nigam has a driver named Rehan for 8 months but was sacked from the job after his performance was unsatisfactory, as told by an official. As per a report in PTI, an official said that Agamkumar visited Nikita's home in the Versova area on March 19 for lunch. He was back at his residence after sometime. He called his daughter in the evening to inform her that “Rs 40 lakh was missing from a digital locker kept in a wooden cupboard.” Agamkumar Nigam visited his son's house the next day at 7 Bungalows for visa-related work. He returned home later that evening to find out Rs. 32 lakh were missing from the locker and that it wasn't damaged. As per the report, the official added, “Agamkumar and Nikita checked the CCTV footage of his society which showed his former driver Rehan going towards his flat with a bag on both days when he was away. Agamkumar suspects Rehan entered his flat with the help of a duplicate key and stole Rs. 72 lakh from the digital locker in the bedroom.” An FIR has been filed under the Indian Penal Code sections 380, 454 and 457 for robbery and trespassing.
