The upcoming TV drama Ishq Mein Ghayal is one such story that revolves around a courageous young girl Esha (played by Reem Sameer Shaikh) who shares a strong connection with two brothers; Veer (played by Karan Kundrra) and Armaan (played by Gashmeer Mahajani). Netizens were quick to point out the uncanny resemblance of the promo to that of American TV series, The Vampire Diaries. Instead of vampires, the lead actors, who play brothers, play werewolves on the show. The 8-season fantasy series revolved around a young Elena Gilbert who meets a vampire Stefan Salvatore on her first day of high school and feels a connection with him. However, over the course of time, she finds out that Stefan and his brother, Damon Salvatore are in fact vampires. The series was led by Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder.

After watching the promo of Ishq Mein Ghayal, netizens pointed out the age gap between Reem Shaikh (20) and actors Gashmeer Mahajani (37) and Karan Kundrra (38); the Damon Salvatore's iconic 'Hello Brother' dialogue which is said by Kundrra and that the plotline seems similar to the original series which premiered 13 years ago.

Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor is praying for the speedy recovery of Hollywood star Jeremy Renner who recently met with snow plowing accident. The actor underwent surgery and has been in the intensive care unit. The actors last year worked on a project together which will reportedly arrive this year.

Anil Kapoor shared two throwback paparazzi pictures of him and Jeremy from their India meet and wrote, “Praying for your speedy recovery Jeremy.”

Jeremy Renner met with an accident on Sunday and was airlifted to the hospital. “We can confirm Jeremy is in critical but stable condition with injuries suffered after experiencing a weather-related accident while ploughing snow earlier today. His family is with him and he is receiving excellent care,” his spokesperson informed Deadline.

As per the latest update, his reps told Variety, “Jeremy’s family would like to express their gratitude to the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, Washoe County Sheriff, Reno City Mayor Hillary Schieve and the Carano and Murdock families. They are also tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans.”

Jeremy Renner was in India last year for the shoot of his Disney+ docu-series Rennervations. Anil Kapoor reportedly is a part of it. The actors had met during Renner’s visit to India. On the work front, Jeremy is set to star in the second season of Mayor of Kingstown, which will premiere on January 15 on Paramount.

Television actress Tunisha Sharma allegedly died by suicide at the age of 20 after she was founding hanging on the sets of her TV show Ali Baba Dastaan-E-Kabul late in December 2022. It has left the industry in shock. Her Ali Baba Dastaan-E-Kabul co-star and former boyfriend Sheezan Khan was arrested and has been in judicial custody following a complaint filed by Tunisha's mother Vanita Sharma alleging abetment to suicide. Khan's family held a press conference on Monday to clear out some allegations made against Sheezan. The press conference on Monday afternoon saw Sheezan’s sisters Shafaz Naaz and Falaq Naaz along with their mother, advocate Shailendra Mishra in attendance.  Following the press conference, Falaq took to her Instagram to further clarify on Sheezan and Tunisha's break up.

In the video shared on Instagram on Monday, Falaq said, "Break-up hua ya nahi hua, iss ek particular sawaal ko itna ghuma diya, mere bolne ko itna ghuma diya...again mein phir se bol rahi hoon ki jab hamari press conference chal rahi thi tabhi humnein yeh baat clear kar di thi ki break-up ek achhe note pe hua tha..dono ne yeh mutual understanding ke saath yeh decide kiya tha... ki yes let's focus on our career first. Yeh bahut early stage hain... pehle kaam karte hain, acche se show karte hain, uske baad...yeh Whatsapp ka chat hain joh police ke paas as an evidence rakha hain. Tunisha Sharma and Sheezan Khan reportedly broke up 15 days before the incident occurred. The Mumbai police is investigating the case from multiple angles.

The Indian consumers were earlier used to only watching films and TV series but in the last couple of years, they also got habituated to consuming web series and mini-series. The trend picked up after the success of the first season of Sacred Games (2018), starring Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and it accelerated during the lockdown. Though there are reports of the growth of subscribers plateauing and streaming giants preferring quality over quantity, the fact is that a lot of money continues to be pumped into making original content. Last month, a report in The Economic Times stated that the six main OTT platforms in India spent between $600 million and $700 million on producing shows in 2022. In other words, these players invested between a whopping Rs. 4968 crores and Rs. 5796 crores to make new content in the web series format!

These top six platforms are Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar, Sony LIV, Zee5 and Voot. The amount mentioned above excludes money spent on making original movies or investment done on sports content.

A source said, “Interestingly, 2022 is when Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings confessed that the lack of growth in India is frustrating. It’s also common to hear this year that subsequent seasons of popular shows have been cancelled by different OTT giants across the world due to practical factors.” In October, Bollywood Hungama even reported that the streaming platforms have stopped buying films for direct-to-digital release with the same regularity as they used to do in 2020.

Another source commented, “But at the same time, the platforms don’t want to cut down and want to continue funding shows and movies, as there’s potential. This keeps the hope alive. This was evident by the grand event held by Amazon Prime Video in April 2022 wherein they launched 40 new shows and films in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Even Netflix has made grand announcements and all the plans are on.”

The Economic Times report also stated an estimate by Media Partners Asia that the online video content investment in India is $1.3 billion in 2022 and that it is expected to increase to $4.2 billion by 2027.

Meanwhile, there has been a growth in subscribers in 2022. As per Ormax OTT Audience Sizing Report 2022, India has 13.20 crores SVOD (subscription video-on-demand) audiences. The number stood at 11.50 crores in 2021.

In a press conference on Monday afternoon, attended by Sheezan’s sisters Shafaz Naaz and Falaq Naaz along with their mother, advocate Shailendra Mishra claimed that Tunisha did not share a good relationship with her mother. He also alleged that Vanita once tried to strangle her daughter. Mishra even claimed that Sanjeev Kaushal, who is claiming to be Tunisha's uncle, is not related to her and her family.

“Tunisha's mom is well aware that Tunisha did not have good equations with her family. After the death of Tunisha's father, she has never celebrated her birthday happily. This was the first time that she planned to celebrate her birthday, years after she last celebrated her birthday with her father. The cops are investigating the relationship between Tunisha's mom and Sanjeev Kaushal," the lawyer claimed.

"It was Sanjeev Kaushal and Tunisha's mom Vanita Sharma who dominated and controlled her. Post lockdown, Tunisha's mom and Kaushal even forced the actress to travel to Chandigarh, and when she refused, Vanita broke her mobile phone and even tried to strangle her. Tunisha had shared all of this with the director of the show she was a part of then," Sheezan's lawyer said.

Mishra also said that Tunisha's uncle Pawan Sharma was fired as her manager four years ago as "he used to interfere a lot & behave harshly with her”. He added, "Tunisha & Sanjeev Kaushal (an uncle in Chandigarh) had terrible relations. Sanjeev Kaushal & her mother, Vanita tried to strangle her, Sheezan Khan's lawyer claimed Tunisha's finances. Tunisha often pleaded in front of her mother for her own money."

On the other hand, Saif Ali Khan was last seen in Vikram Vedha with Hrithik Roshan. He will essay the role of Lankesh in Adipurush. The film, helmed by Om Raut, will star Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Sunny Singh in pivotal roles. The teaser was unveiled on October 2, 2022, in Ayodhya in presence of fans. The film was supposed to release in January 2023 but now it has been postponed.

A while it was reported that the Shashank Khaitan directorial Screw Dheela starring Tiger Shroff has been put on the back burner. In fact, reports claimed that the unpredictability of the box office, the ballooning budget, and low-key response to the film’s announcement were the reasons. While it was never made clear whether the project was on hold or continuing, we hear that the makers of the film have opted for a casting change in the venture. If what the grapevine says is true, then apparently, Shanaya Kapoor will be stepping into the shoes of Rashmika Mandanna in Screw Dheela.

Talking exclusively to Bollywood Hungama a source close to the project tells us, “Yes, there has been a change in the cast, Shanaya will be replacing Rashmika. Although Shanaya is yet to sign the dotted line, everything is in place, and when the film starts it will headline Shanaya as the female lead”. Ask the source for details on why the sudden change and he continues, “Shanaya Kapoor was to feature in Shashank’s other project for Dharma Productions, Bedhadak with Lakshya Lalwani and Gurfateh Pirzada. However, for some reason that film has run into trouble and the shoot has been paused. In the interim while the issues are settled, Shanaya has moved to Screw Dheela.”

Although there has been no official word on either of the projects and issues, viz. Screw Dheela undergoing a casting change and Bedhadak being paused, it seems like for director Shashank Khaitan such issues have become common place. Interestingly, Shashank had earlier announced Mr. Lele with Varun Dhawan however that was later changed to Govinda Naam Mera featuring Vicky Kaushal.

As for the film Screw Dheela is said to be an action entertainer and will be produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. While it still remains unclear when the film will commence shooting, it will feature Tiger Shroff and Shanaya Kapoor. On the work front, Tiger has a packed slate with Ganapath and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.

The year 2022 has been a productive year for Suhana Khan who is gearing up to make her big Bollywood debut. In fact, the aspiring actress and popular star kid was seen attending several famous tinsel town parties this year and making her presence felt. While she is also a popular star on social media, fans, and followers of Khan were curious to know about her plans, now that New Year is around the corner. A day ago, photos of her partying with Gauri Khan and the latter’s maternal family found its way to social media.

Despite the fact that Suhana Khan and Gauri Khan are quite popular on social media, the duo hasn’t shared any details of this get-together. However, the other guests at the bash took to the platform to share photos. Manavi Gaur, who is expected to be the girlfriend of Suhana’s cousin Arjun Chibber, took to her Instagram to post some fun photos with Suhana and Arjun’s sister Alia Chibber.

On the other hand, the fan pages of Suhana and Gauri also posted some pics from the get-together. Both the Khan ladies looked quite glamorous in their simple and casual yet stylish outfits. From what we hear, the said Chibber family get-together which also was attended by Gauri’s mother Savita Chibber was held in the popular Alibaug bungalow of the superstar. However, superstar Shah Rukh Khan wasn’t to be seen at the bash.

On the work front, Gauri Khan recently kicked off her reality show based on interior design and décor. As for Suhana Khan, she will be making her acting debut with the Netflix film The Archies. The film will also mark the debut of two other star kids, Agastya Nanda, grandson of legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan and son of Shweta Bachchan, as well as, Khushi Kapoor, youngest daughter of Boney Kapoor and Sridevi.
