Earlier this year the Ranbir Kapoor – Alia Bhatt starrer Brahmastra hit screens to a thunderous response from the audience. Directed by Ayan Mukerji the film that took a while in the making, redeemed itself with stellar visuals and a gripping story. Well, while the film continues its journey with its release on the OTT platform, the makers have begun working on the second part of the three-film series. In fact, Bollywood Hungama had reported that actors, Hrithik Roshan, Ranveer Singh and even Yash were approached to play the role of Dev in Brahmastra 2. However, neither of the three signed on for the part. Now we hear that, Liger actor Vijay Deverakonda has been approached for the same.

Commenting on Vijay being approached to play Dev in Brahmastra 2, a source close to the production informed Bollywood Hungama, “The Brahmastra franchise is being backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. Yes, there were three actors who were approached, but now, Karan is looking at roping in Vijay. The two have worked together on Liger and understand how the other person works, so it comes a no surprise.” Further talking about Vijay being approached the source continues, “Liger did not exactly hit the target, instead it was way off. Both Vijay and Karan are looking to work together one something that will definitely hit the mark, and kick-start Vijay’s journey in Bollywood. Given this, essaying the role of Dev in Brahmastra 2 is perfect for Vijay and plays well for the makers of the film as well.”

Adding another reason why the makers of Brahmastra 2 have now appeased Vijay Deverakonda for the role the source continues, “If Vijay signs on to play Dev in Brahmastra 2, the film will get the added advantage of featuring a big name from the South. This will ensure Brahmastra 2 has a pan-India appeal while capturing audiences in all sectors.”

As for Brahmastra 2, the film will take the saga from the Ranbir Kapoor – Alia Bhatt starrer forward, with new characters being introduced. Once the casting for the same is complete, the makers of Brahmastra 2 are looking to go on floors in 2023 end with a marathon schedule and hit the big screen in 2025.

Ever since its announcement, Jawan has been garnering immense response, especially considering that is the first collaboration of Shah Rukh Khan and blockbuster filmmaker Atlee. The film will also feature South superstar Nayanthara as the leading lady along with star Vijay Sethupathi as the antagonist. However, recently, the film has been plagiarism charges owing to its plotline. South filmmaker Manickam Narayan has filed a complaint against it with the TFPC (Tamil Film Producers Council) alleging that the film is based on the story of 2006 film Perarasu.

Last week, Times of India reported that producer Manikam Narayanan filed a complaint at the TFPC allegedly claiming that the stories of Jawan and Perarasu are the same. While the filmmaker claims that he allegedly owns the rights of the story, the TFPC has agreed for an investigation but will be pursuing it only after November 7, as per these reports.

Talking about the film Perarasu, the 2006 action crime film featured Vijayakanth in a dual role and revolved around the mission of a CBI officer is entrusted with a mission to investigate the case of a judge’s mysterious disappearance. While rumours have it that Shah Rukh Khan will be seen in a dual role in the film, the makers of Jawan are yet to spill the beans about the film.

Jawan is expected to be a film to be helmed on a large scale. The film will be shot across different locations in India including Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad and Chennai. Besides Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, the film also features many other celebs from the South and Bollywood industry including Priyamani, Yogi Babu, Sunil Grover and Sanya Malhotra. A glimpse of Shah Rukh Khan’s action-packed avatar was released earlier this year and the film is still in the shooting stage.

Vishal Bhardwaj and his son Aasman Bhardwaj’s film Kuttey, featuring an ensemble cast, was supposed to clash with Katrina Kaif, Ishaan Khatter, Siddhant Chaturvedi starrer Phone Bhoot and Janhvi Kapoor, Sunny Kaushal starrer Mili on November 4, gets a new release date. While the horror comedy and survival drama released last week, the Aasman Bhardwaj directorial debut will release in January 2023. The Arjun Kapoor, Tabu, Radhika Madan starrer has been pushed further and its release has been scheduled during Sankranti 2023.

Kuttey has been scheduled for a release on January 13, 2023, right before the festive season of Sankranti which falls on January 14. Interestingly, the release date was earlier occupied by Om Raut and T-Series’ ambitious project Adipurush starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan. Earlier today, the makers announced that the film’s release has been pushed further for summer 2023 and will release in June. Meanwhile, the Arjun Kapoor starrer unique thriller has taken over the same date.

Not too long ago, we had reported that Sankranti 2023 in January will see the release of some of the biggest and most anticipated South releases of the year. It includes the Thalapathy Vijay, Rashmika Mandanna starrer bilingual Varisu and the much talked about Waltair Veerayya that brings together Chiranjeevi and Ravi Teja along with Shruti Haasan. Besides these two, the Nandamuri Balakrishna, Shruti Haasan starrer Veer Simha Reddy is also expected to hit the big screens on the same date.

Talking about Kuttey, the film is expected to be a caper-thriller that marks the entry of Aasman Bhardwaj, son of Vishal Bhardwaj, in film industry. Besides Arjun Kapoor, Tabu, Radhika Madan, the film also features Konkona Sen Sharma, Naseeruddin Shah along with Shardul Bhardwaj in pivotal roles.

Known for always supporting films from the South, Yash recently spoke about the changing phase of South cinema. The KGF star, who has contributed immensely in the way South films are perceived today, recalled the times when these films were made fun of. Readers would be aware that South films always premiered on television and their dubbed versions often gained immense TRPs. However, they were often made fun of, especially in the Northern belt of the country. Recently at the India Today Conclave, Yash spoke about how SS Rajamouli’s Bahubali changed the way South films are perceived in other parts of the country, especially in North India.

At the event, Yash said, “10 years ago, dubbed films became very popular here (North India). But, initially they all started watching with different opinions. People used to make fun of South films. They were like ‘yeh kya action hai, udd raha hai sab’ (what is this action? everything is flying!)” He further continued about how this affected the selling price of the film, adding, “That’s how it started and eventually they got hooked on to that and they started understanding that art form. The problem with that was our films were sold for a bare minimum price, people used to do bad quality dubbing and it used to be presented in a bad way with funny names.”

Talking about the changing situation post blockbusters like Baahubali and his iconic film KGF, Yash shared, “People started becoming familiar with our dubbed films. It was long pending. Credit goes to SS Rajamouli sir. If you have to break a rock, continuous effort is needed. Bahubali gave that push. On the other hand, KGF was done with a different intention. What KGF was that it was not done to intimidate, but to inspire. People have now started noticing South films.”

Readers would be aware that of late, box office is seeing a massive surge in terms of South films. Meanwhile, Bollywood films are still trying to find a foothold in terms of collections in the post pandemic era.

Coming to his films, Shah Rukh Khan will next be seen in Pathaan, in which he will be seen in the role of a spy. The YRF film, directed by Siddharth Anand, also stars John Abraham and Deepika Padukone. The film will mark his return to the big screen after four years and is slated to release on January 25, 2023.

Besides that, SRK has his first collaboration with filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi, Dunki, starring Taapsee Pannu in the pipeline. Along with that, he also his Pan India project Jawan featuring for the first time, Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi alongside the superstar. Janhvi Kapoor had to shoot in extreme conditions and it was not a cakewalk for her to play the leading role in the survival drama Mili. The film showcases the journey of a girl who works as a waiter for a popular fast food franchise and gets trapped in a freezer for over 48 hours. While discussing the same with Bollywood Hungama, Janhvi opened up about her journey as an actor and how going that extra mile has helped her learn so much acting.

Revealing that she has learnt to push herself with each film, Janhvi Kapoor mentioned that she can’t sleep without hearing the word ‘action’. She told Bollywood Hungama, “I have learnt so much about acting and myself. How much I can push myself. I didn't know I could function in such tough and extreme conditions being so unwell as unwell as I was, and being and the only thing that was keeping me going was hearing ‘action’ and then, I didn't feel any pain. I just wanted to live this. And it was so riveting. And I think that's when I realized the power of the word action. Like, you know, now what's happening to me now I can't sleep till I hear the word action. Achha abhi sone ka shot dedo, neend aa jayegi (Now it’s the sleep shot and I will sleep).”

She went on to add, “I was telling Sharan (director of Mr. and Mrs. Mahi) that in my dream, I was doing a shot ki main so rahi hoon (that I was sleeping). And my sister was sleeping next to me and she told me how I kept giving a shot. In my dream, there was a Jimmy Jib camera on top and Sharan kept saying action and reset.”

Coming to the film, Mili is a remake of the Malayalam film Helen. The film is slated to release on November 4 and also stars Sunny Kaushal and Manoj Pahwa in a pivotal role.

Janhvi Kapoor was last seen in Good Luck Jerry. She will be seen in a role where she is trying to fight for her life in the survival drama Mili. The film, which is a remake of the Malayalam film Helen, is directed by Matthukutty Xavier, who also directed the original. The actress will be essaying a one-of-a-kind character in the film and in a recent interview exclusive with Bollywood Hungama, Janhvi opened up on how they created the environment for the film and what she had to undergo while shooting in minus temperatures for this survival drama.

In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Hungama, Janhvi Kapoor discussed her experience of shooting for Mili, her camaraderie with filmmaker Matthukutty Xavier, her prep for the character, and many different aspects of Bollywood. During the same, the actress also revealed the kind of brief she had received from the filmmaker and how the set for the film was created. Talking about the same, Janhvi said, “You don’t prepare for this role because my character wasn't prepared to be in this situation. So my director’s brief was ‘just be you, just do you’. We are building a freezer that will be at minus 10 degrees at all times. And then I'll put you in it in a thin pair of pants and a thin sleeveless shirt. Okay, and I'll get a real rat and I'll put the rat and it will be like a non-rabid rat, I put it in the freezer with you and just have to shoot.”

Talking about Mili, the film will feature Janhvi Kapoor as a waiter at the food franchise who gets locked in the freezer. Her worried family set out on a mission to find her along with the police but will they be able to save her before it’s too late, is what the film is all about. The Hindi version also features Sunny Kaushal and Manoj Pahwa in pivotal roles. The film released on November 4.

Ahead of the release of the film, the actress talked with Bollywood Hungama about the initial days of her career, and how over the years she has learned a trick to deal with people she doesn’t get along well with.

The Lust Stories actress revealed, “some experiences are not very good because you don't get along with the vision of the filmmakers or you don't get along with the people. As she continued, Pate explained that “sometimes the conditions of the locations are bad where or sometimes the conditions could be excellent and still an artist doesn't get along with people sometimes conditions could be horrible, but people are absolutely lovely, and it becomes one of the best experiences of your career.”

Elaborating, the Sacred Games actress mentioned, “I read a lot on the set right and I try to tell them what I feel and find a middle way. But, at the end of the day, it's that person's vision and you've said yes, for whatever reasons you've said yes. You have to do it. But a lot of times these situations come because the script was never given to on time, or the script was changed.” The actress concluded by saying she tries to find a middle way, and if that’s not possible, she reads or finds something else to do to keep herself busy.

Talking about her upcoming film, Monica O My Darling, it features Huma Qureshi and Rajkummar Rao in the lead. The film is slated to release on November 11. It will be exclusively available on Netflix.

On Weekend Ka Vaar, Salman Khan often interacts with the contestants of the Bigg Boss house as they go through the happenings and important events of the week, In the recent promo of Bigg Boss 16 released by Colors channel, we can see the host rather upset with the contestant Sajid Khan. The superstar is seen calling out the behavior of Sajid Khan by terming him a ‘hypocrite’ and also added that he is giving reasons himself to get evicted from the show. While a lot of them have demanded the exit of the filmmaker from the game because of his records, we wonder if the latest promo is an indication of the same.

In the recently released promo, Salman Khan was seen speaking to Sajid Khan and reminding him about how much less time he has in the house. He said, “Sajid iss ghar ke andhar kya raha hai? (What is Sajid doing in this house)” When Sajid responded by saying, “Waqt aane pe patthe dikhaunga (When the time comes, I will show everyone my cards)”, Salman got even more upset as he continued, “Waqt na yahan par nahi milta. Aapko nikalne ka reason aap hi de rahein hai. Baat samajh mein aa rahi hai ya nahi. (You don’t get that kind of time here. You yourself are giving the reason to get evicted. Do you understand?)” He went on to add, “You are looking like a hypocrite. Stand lete ho phir stand badal dete ho. Yeh hai double standards. (You first take a stand and then change it. This is called double standards).”

Model and actress Gul Panag has been part of multiple Bollywood films like Dor, Manorama Six Feet Under, Ab Tak Chhappan 2, web series Paatal Lok, Bypass Road and many more. She is also a former beauty queen who competed in the Miss Universe pageant.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas is currently in India for brand endorsements. But her arrival had sparked several speculations about the actress kicking off Jee Le Zaraa with Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif. Recently during one of the interactions, Priyanka was seen discussing about the Farhan Akhtar venture with PTI where she not revealed details about how the film came into being but also spoke about when it is expected to go on floors. Interestingly, earlier during the promotions of PhoneBhoot, Katrina too was quizzed about this female-centric road trip drama.

Katrina Kaif had earlier revealed that Jee Le Zaraa started with a phone call conversation with Priyanka Chopra and Alia Bhatt. Priyanka, too, spoke about how it all started with just a hearty chat with her friends. "I called up Alia and Katrina, this is before Farhan or anybody came (on board). I called the girls first. I was sitting at home and I wanted to do a Hindi movie. But I wanted it to be on the terms of women," she said.

It is also known that Priyanka Chopra is one of the most popular actresses who has showcased her ability to carry films on her shoulders solely many times. The actress has films like Fashion, Mary Kom, Saat Khoon Maaf, among others where she has been the lead. Talking about how the generation has changed when it comes to viewing female-centric films, Priyanka added, “My generation of actresses really opened the door for the next generation of actresses to be the faces on the posters, to be able to sell movies. So, I really wanted to bring together my friends and say ‘let's create a movie that will do well at the box office and it will be ours’. So, the stars aligned and we decided to do it. Hopefully, we will start shoot it next year."

Besides Jee Le Zaraa, Priyanka Chopra also has a few other interesting Hollywood-International projects in the pipeline including the ambitious Amazon Prime show Citadel which is a space sci-fi drama also starring Richard Madden.

Director Sooraj Barjatya has given some of the most iconic family- dramas in Bollywood. His films were no less than a celebration of relationships, values, and Indian culture. The 58-year-old filmmaker is currently gearing up for his next directorial Uunchai which stars Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, and Boman Irani in the lead.

When we asked where does his filmmaking come in in today’s market to still be relevant and if it’s a challenge. Sooraj said, “If you see traditionally then we say family values are declining. But I feel the importance of a family will never change. I feel only the ways of exhibiting family values will change.”

He further explained, “Values of families remain the same, even if they're not a joint one. Or for example, I couldn’t talk freely with my father but nowadays my children sit with me and talk to me freely. This doesn’t mean they don’t love or respect me, it’s just the way of showing respect that has changed, which we must respect. So, I think families will always be the core force.”

“Today, everyone is much more focused on themselves, which is correct also, we must respect it. But personally, I feel cinema has a big responsibility,” he said before adding, “As a director I feel I would like to go against the wind and I would like to give back those traditions somewhere.”

He then continued, “I am trying to say it in a different way, in a humorous way because someone should at least say it if in a family, you trust each other, you’ll be trusted. Because that’s important.”

Speaking of Uunchai, the film is slated to release on November 11. The film explores the story of three friends, who decide to climb the Mount Everest to fulfil the last wish of their late friend.

A couple of days back, it was announced that Akshay Kumar would soon be seen playing the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Mahesh Manjrekar’s directorial Veer Daudale Saat. In fact, a grand event was held announcing the film that saw Raj Thackrey and Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in attendance. Also making an appearance was Manjrekar’s friend Salman Khan, who arrived to lend his support to the film. But, having attempted to play Samrat Prithviraj Akshay Kumar, who will be playing another formidable historical figure in the Marathi film Veer Daudale Saat we hear is taking no chances.

While trade hope is that Akshay will do his homework before plunging into such a formidable part in Veer Daudale Saat. The actor is apparently leaving no stone unturned to ensure he gets the character and the representation correct. In fact, this time Akshay will not be taking any risks says a source, “This time Akshay intends to go very carefully. Playing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is a huge responsibility. In Maharashtra, he is God. Both Akshay and director Mahesh Manjrekar are aware of this.”

Continuing further about the prep work the actor will be doing for Veer Daudale Saat the source continues, “Manjrekar being a Maharashtrian is of course going to help Akshay get the nuances of language and body language right. This time Akshay is taking no chances.”

As per a report by Pinkvilla, Ranveer Singh and YRF Talent Management Agency have amicably decided to part ways. Quoting a reliable source, the report stated, “YRF will always be home for Ranveer Singh. Aditya Chopra punted on him as a rank newcomer, who has since then become one of the biggest superstars that this country has seen.”

It further added, “He has been mentored, groomed, and shaped to become the icon that he is today. So, the relationship between the two is and will always be solid and precious as ever.”

As the source continued, it asserted, “Ranveer was being managed by YRF’s talent management agency and they have now amicably decided to part ways in this regard. Ranveer and YRF will continue to collaborate together creatively as and when they can come together for an exciting project. The relationship between Ranveer and YRF has always been and continues to be one of immense mutual respect and affection.”

A few days ago, the portal had also reported that Parineeti Chopra has moved out of YRF’s talent management agency. However, it’s all done amicably. The report had stated that Parineeti wanted to explore other avenues, and thus she decided to move to another talent management agency.

Coming back to Singh’s professional front, the 37-year-old actor was last seen in Jayeshbhai Jordaar. He has a bunch of upcoming projects in his kitty, including Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani and Cirkus, among others.
