Editor-filmmaker Apurva Asrani who edited Ram Gopal Varma’s Satya recalls an incident during the shooting. “I was sent out to shoot some B Roll (secondary shooting) Mumbai footage with Steadicam operator Nitin Rao: to use for montages, etc. That day one building of Poonam Chambers had collapsed in Worli. Since we wanted to show the impact of the underworld, I thought that the building might resemble a bomb-blasted structure.”

But there was a hitch. “The cops didn't let us shoot, in fact we weren't allowed even near the sight. Luckily, me being a Worli boy, I knew a back route to Poonam Chambers through some slums. Nitin and I sneaked up from there and quietly took two important shots that made it to the title montage showing destruction by the underworld.”

Speaking on the enduring impact of Satya, Apurva says, “The film was a clutter breaker when it came out in 1998. It told a realistic story with sizzling front-bencher dialogues and used a cinematic language--a narrative and a pace--like no one was doing before. Plus it was made by a bunch of hungry new comers who came with no baggage or ego. Maybe that's why Satya become part of public consciousness. I am overwhelmed that 25 years later it is being discussed with as much passion as when it came out.”

After taking the box office by storm worldwide and crossing the Rs. 1000 crore mark, Pathaan starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham will release in cinemas in Japan on September 1, 2023. The poster for the Japanese release has been unveiled.

Japanese website Cinema Café revealed the news stating, “It has been decided that the blockbuster "PATHAAN", the 5th highest-grossing Indian movie in history and the No. 1 Indian box office in 2023, will be released on Friday, September 1st.”

As per Bollywood Hungama, Pathaan collected Rs. 543.05 crore in India in its lifetime. The film was released on Prime Video following its theatrical run.

Helmed by Siddharth Anand, Pathaan also stars Dimple Kapadia and Ashutosh Rana. The film was released in Indian cinemas on January 25, 2023, shattering box office records.

Pathaan is a part of YRF Spy Universe, which also comprises Tiger (Salman Khan) and Zoya (Katrina Kaif) from Ek Tha Tiger (2012) and Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) and Kabir (Hrithik Roshan) from War (2019). Salman reprised his role as Tiger in a crucial action scene in Pathaan and it added to the craze around the film. In Tiger 3, which releases on Diwali 2023 and which also stars Emraan Hashmi as antagonist, and Shah Rukh Khan in a cameo. The actor will also star in Pathaan vs Tiger alongside Salman Khan. Filmmaker Karan Johar returns to direction with Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem after seven years since Karan’s last directorial Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Billed as a new era of love, the makers had released the film’s teaser in June 2023 followed by song release ‘Tum Kya Mile’. On July 4, the trailer of the upcoming film was unveiled which also stars Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi, Tota Roy Chowdhary and Jaya Bachchan.

Post the trailer release, Alia Bhatt hosted a mini Q&A session with fans on Instagram and answered some fun questions about the film. Towards the end of the session, she shared a behind-the-scenes photo of herself gazing at Ranveer Singh under the supervision of Karan Johar. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan was spotted at the Mumbai international airport. The actor appeared a day after it was reported that he underwent a minor nose surgery after he reportedly suffered an injury while shooting a project in Los Angeles, US.

On Wednesday morning, the actor was seen making his way out of the airport and looked fine. He was seen along with Gauri Khan and AbRam Khan. The actor wore a white t-shirt paired with a blue hoodie, a pair of jeans and a cap. He wore sunglasses as he smiled at the paparazzi.

Bollywood actor Salman Khan, who was last seen in Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, has reportedly reached out to filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali after the massive showdown during Inshallah which led to the movie being scrapped. Now, it seems like the actor is on the lookout for the right scripts and won’t do favours to people out of goodwill.

As per a report in Koi Moi, Salman Khan will now stop doing films as “a goodwill gesture or overloading the cast with favour-seeking strugglers. And by right, I don’t mean action-packed or drama-driven. It has to be something Salman hasn’t done before, preferably something that is relevant and yet personal.”

A close friend of Salman told the portal that the actor doesn’t want to do a film for friends and family either. The source revealed, “No more home productions with his brothers as a director or carpeting a film with favour-seeking strugglers, as he did in Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan.”

Reportedly, the actor has reached out to Sanjay Leela Bhansali with whom he was supposed to collaborate on Inshallah. “Salman has reached out to Bhansali. Inshallah was a brilliant love story, very fresh and audacious. It is something Salman would like to try at this point in his career,” the friend said.

Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn has made massige purchases. He has bought five office units in Mumbai's Andheri West which are worth Rs. 45 crore. As per the documents accessed by a data analytics form CRE Matrix, the office units are located within Signature Building, Oshiwara and Veera Desai Road.

The documents reveal that the office units cover a total area of 13,293 square feet. As per a report in Money Control, three units are located on the 16th floor. They are worth Rs. 30.35 crore, and the actor paid a stamp duty of Rs 1.82 crore for the built-up area of 8,405 square feet.

Apart from that, two office units are located on the 17th floor and are worth Rs. 14.74 crore. The built-up area is spread across 4,893 square feet. The properties were registered under the name Vishal (Ajay) Virendra Devgan.

The Indian film industry mourns the loss of veteran actor Harish Magon, who breathed his last on June 1. Best known for his remarkable performances in iconic Hindi films such as Gol Maal, Namak Halaal, and Inkaar, Magon's demise has left a void in the hearts of fans.

The Cine And TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA) broke the unfortunate news via their official Twitter account, expressing their condolences. The heartfelt post read, "CINTAA expresses its condolences on the demise of Harish Magon (Member since JUNE. 1988)." The news spread rapidly across social media platforms, with fans pouring in their messages of grief and remembrance.

Harish Magon was a graduate of the prestigious Film and Television Institute of India (FTII). He was an immensely talented actor who showcased his versatility in a wide range of roles. Magon's acting prowess was evident in his memorable performances in movies like Chupke Chupke, Khushboo, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, and Shahenshah. 

Apart from his acting career, Harish Magon was known for his contributions as an educator in the field of acting. He founded the Harish Magon Acting Institute in Mumbai's Juhu area, where he nurtured aspiring actors and shared his knowledge and experience with them. 

Harish Magon's last on-screen appearance was in the 1997 romantic drama Uff! Yeh Mohabbat, where he captivated audiences with his nuanced portrayal. The news of Harish Magon's demise comes as a shock to the film industry. 

Filmmaker Sudeep Kanwal’s Hindi movie Privacy has an intriguing subject of a woman cop who is an operator of the surveillance cameras in Mumbai. The film, which stars Rajshri Deshpande in the lead role of Roopali, recently had its world premiere at the ongoing Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival aka BIFAN in Bucheon, South Korea, where it was met with a positive response.

Following the film’s premiere, Rajshri Deshpande told Bollywood Hungama in an exclusive conversation on the reason for becoming a part of Privacy, apart from the story and narrative. “As an actor, I like to do complex and layered characters,” she said. “I am a curious actor. I enjoy that process. The people involved in it. I am a festival baby. I love independent filmmaking, the process and the people. The teams come with a lot of passion.”

When asked about what exactly is her character, she said, “You have to watch the film (laughs). She is basically an everyday person. She comes from a small town in a big city probably with dreams and aspirations. But maybe (she) got stuck with a mundane life.”

In the past, Rajshri has played real characters in projects like Manto and the web show Trial By Fire. But for a film like Privacy, she said one had to create the character. She said Roopali is a kind of a character you know since she is dealing with certain things. “I had to understand the background of this character, the kind of circumstances she had gone through, how she is carrying those circumstances, what must have happened and how she is dealing with all kinds of issues in the world where she is working,” she said.

Speaking about the kind of projects she likes to be a part of, Rajshri said, “The only thing I avoid is if it’s not written well or portrayed in a derogatory way and it shouldn’t be like a tokenism of something.”

The actress added that she is always eager for some good, original and real scripts. “I just want people to write life; what they see,” she said. “People have forgotten to write real emotions or feelings nowadays. There is so much we have around us and people have forgotten that. They are trying to make something which is a formula based. And I don’t think there is any formula in our life. Life is made into smaller emotions and spaces.”

When asked whether she receives offers to act in commercial entertainers, she said, “I do, of course. It depends. If I don’t like the character, I don’t want to be a part of any ensemble also. I have to like what they are trying to do. We are still not there. If you look at the commercial space, very few are trying to have any ensemble team together. I don’t want to be a part of like, ‘O you are a good actor, we want you because we are packing our project with a star.’ I have been offered something like that but I don’t want to be a part of that.”

Hence, Rajshri is happy with the independent space. “I am absolutely fine getting lesser money and lesser people know me, but I am having fun in the independent space. But that doesn’t mean I don’t want to be a part of commercial cinema; I want to. But then, write well. And I have to have some fun. I am in the industry for that. Else, I would have worked in corporate,” she added.

As far as the premiere of Privacy is concerned, the team almost missed the red carpet because of the flight delay. “The red carpet was from 6 pm to 7 pm. We reached the airport at 6 pm. And within five minutes in the washroom of the airport, I got ready and wore a saree. We reached at 6:57. I was literally running and then slowly walked the red carpet,” she said.

But it all was worth because of the response Privacy got from the audience in South Korea. “They are very nice and warmest people. They saw the tiniest of details. I think so many people may miss out (on those details). This film needs your attention,” she said.

Like many Indians, Rajshri too is fond of Korean content. “I think the way they have evolved with their content; their independent space is very interesting. The actors are really great,” she said.

Bollywood Hungama yesterday reported that Allu Arjun is not keen to sign The Immortal Ashwatthama. The reactions generated by Adipurush have made him wary since Aditya Dhar’s ambitious project is also VFX-heavy, as per sources.

Bollywood Hungama today brings yet another update regarding the superstar. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Allu Arjun has signed his next film after Pushpa 2 – The Rule. It’s directed by Trivikram. The actor and director have collaborated on successful films in the past like Julayi (2012), S/O Satyamurthy (2015) and the blockbuster Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo (2020). Nothing much is known about the plot but it’s guaranteed to be a complete mass entertainer.”

The source added, “An official announcement will take place very soon, in a few days.”

The source further said, “Needless to say, Allu Arjun’s next with Trivikram will be a Pan-India film and will be released in Hindi as well along with other languages and in the original Telugu version. Allu is now one of the biggest stars of India. Pushpa: The Rise - Part 01 (2021) has made him extremely popular. Moreover, Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo has been widely consumed in the Hindi-speaking markets. The audience will surely be excited knowing that the actor-director duo is returning for a film. It will surely be one of the most anticipated releases.”

The film, however, will take time to be made. The source said, “Allu Arjun is currently busy with Pushpa 2 – The Rule, which will release in 2024 and is also expected to set the box office on fire. Trivikram, meanwhile, is gearing up for the release of Guntur Kaaram, starring Mahesh Babu. Once both are done with their respective projects, they are expected to take their film on floors.”

Besides Pushpa 2 – The Rule and Trivikram’s untitled entertainer, Allu Arjun has another film in his pipeline – Arjun Reddy (2017), Kabir Singh (2019) and Animal director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s next. It’ll be produced by T-Series. The announcement was made in March 2023.

Salman Khan, who hosts the reality show Bigg Boss OTT 2, reacted strongly to two incidents involving contestant Jad Hadid during the Weekend Ka Vaar episode. Khan spoke about the kiss between Jad and Akanksha Puri, and Jad showing his behind to Bebika Dhurve. 

In fact, when Jad tried to defend himself while saying, “Sir it was a mistake. I admit it." However, Salman continued, "When did you say it was a mistake? Right now?" Jad further added, "No no no. I said it straight away but she (Bebika) wasn't in a mood that I could approach her."

As the episode progressed further, Salman asserted, “A lot of people may not find anything wrong with what you did. But a lot of people may find it offensive. It (India) is a very conservative country. ... It's also a very forgiving country. We all have been forgiven by the people of this country a million times.

He said, “And you? They loved you. The way you were, even though they did not understand the language, they loved you, they loved Abdu (Rozik)... till these two incidents. Leave aside the kiss incident, this is the bummer." Later, Jad took responsibility for his actions and apologised to Salman, India, and everyone involved, acknowledging that what he did was unforgivable and a significant mistake. 

Salman reminded Jad of his four and a half years old daughter to make him understand the importance of considering his daughter's well-being and urging him not to repeat such behaviour. Filmmaker Karan Johar returns to direction with Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem after seven years since Karan’s last directorial Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Billed as a new era of love, the makers had released the film’s teaser followed by the song release ‘Tum Kya Mile’. On Sunday, Karan Johar unveiled the behind-the-scenes of the song shoot which was filmed in Kashmir, earlier this year.

In the video, Ranveer Singh is dressed in printed jackets, shirts, blazers and biker jackets whereas Alia Bhatt dons several chiffon sarees. The song’s music video is an ode to Yash Chopra and his era of romance. It is sung by Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal. “The essence of the song goes along with the way it is captured. There’s a certain lyricism to it,” says Ranveer. Alia adds, “It’s like that quintessential ode to Yash Chopra kind of love song.” Ranveer, who plays Rocky, further says, “I think ‘Tum Kya Mile’ is probably my favourite song from the album.”

Bhediya was directed by Amar Kaushik and released in 2D and 3D and in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. The film will have its sequel Bhediya 2 and the announcement was made earlier this year.

The anticipation and curiosity around the sequel of the iconic blockbuster Gadar: Ek Prem Katha has created a massive buzz ever since the first look of the film is out. One of the biggest superstars of Telugu Cinema, Allu Arjun, has been in talks with Aditya Dhar for his Bollywood debut with a high-on VFX action film, Ashwatthama. The superstar was fascinated by the concept of the film and had shown active interest in being a part of the film. However, dimensions are changing post the release of Adipurush. Allu Arjun is now being extra cautious about the promises made by Aditya Dhar and his team on the visual front.

"The VFX is a matter of concern now for all Telugu stars. They want to do simple films with filmmakers and trust only Rajamouli on the VFX front. Seeing what happened to Adipurush, Allu Arjun is now in two minds to trust a relatively new director with such an ambitious subject. He might decide against doing Ashwatthama now," a source close to the development told Bollywood Hungama.

Interestingly, much like Om Raut decided on Adipurush after his Hindi debut, Tanhaji, Aditya has also decided on Ashwatthama as his second film after his debut in URI. "Ashwatthama is a risky film and Allu isn't sure if he is willing to invest so much time in an outcome that he would know 2 years from now. Hence, it's better to be cautious than sorry. He will take a final call on Ashwatthama soon, but it seems like he isn't inclined towards it."

Ashwatthama is among the most ambitious Bollywood films planned for a two-parter on a budget of over Rs. 500 crores. It's produced by Jio Studios with Aditya Dhar.

Farhad Samji’s loss is Tarun Mansukhani’s gain. Farhad Samji has no option but to take the blame for the failure of the Salman Khan starrer Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan although Salman ghost-directed the whole film. Nonetheless someone other than the superstar has to take the rap. Farhad now finds himself out of Sajid Nadiadwala’s Housefull 5 which was rightfully Farhad’s. Farhad had directed Housefull 3(with his brother Sajid) and Housefull 4 (Farhad took over the latter after Sajid Khan was sacked).

Housefull 5 was his for the taking…. Until Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan came and tanked. Farhad Samji woke up on Friday to the announcement of Housefull 5 with another director’s name in his place.

It’s been a long wait for director Tarun Mansukhani. Once upon a time, he directed the successful Dostana with Abhishek Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra and John Abraham. Since Dostana, Mansukhani has been writing and re-writing Dostana 2 for Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. The film was finally scrapped when Kartik Aaryan who was to play the lead in the Dostana sequel, did not like the script.

In between Mansukhani directed the ill-fated Drive starring Sushant Singh Rajput for Karan Johar. Drive and Dostana 2 would have signalled a dead-end for the director were it not for producer Sajid Nadiadwala who has poached Mansukhani from Dharma Productions and has given him a new lease of life.

Let’s hope Housefull 5 brings the Dostana glory back to its exiled director Tarun Mansukhani. As for Farhad Samji, he has learnt the hard way that nothing succeeds in this industry like success, and nothing fails like failure either.

Actress Kiara Advani is grateful for the positive response for her latest release SatyaPrem Ki Katha which arrived in theatres on, June 29. As the film is receiving rave reviews and both Kartik Aaryan and Kiara’s performances are been appreciated, the actress is overwhelmed.

Anil Kapoor, who is back with part 2 of The Night Manager, recently spoke about the Hindi film industry's unable to give back-to-back successes and films failing at the box office. The actor did say that the industry has gone through a rough patch.

As per Indian Express, Anil Kapoor said, “I have been working for so many years, my father (Surinder Kapoor) was also in this industry, so we’ve been here for around 60 years. Actors, directors, producers talking about films working and not working… yeh silsila toh kaafi saalo se chal raha hai (Such things keep happening). There are phases… for example for two years a particular type of films don’t work and people say industry bandh ho rahi hai (the industry is closing down). I myself have seen these phases five to six times in my career, but that doesn’t happen, it will never happen. It is just how every person sees ups and downs in their life, so it is the same with the business, there will be good and bad times.”

“I take it (the dull phase) positively because during the Covid-19 pandemic people have taken the time to try and understand how to work harder, do better and make good films. Films we’ll see now will be very good, the audience will like it. People learn a lot in such situations, and those who don’t, don’t survive. I think those who are sincere and honest with their work and know their job, who know their craft, for them, there’s nothing to get scared about, they just have to keep working. Films will be made, if the films are good then the audience will come to watch it, they are watching good films,” Anil said.

In the rarest of the rare case, the demise of Sushant Singh Rajput, which left the nation in shock, turned into a massive campaign with fans pressurizing the government to carry out an investigation. He further refrained from making any more revelations adding, “Currently, we are in the process of examining the credibility of the presented evidence. The investigation is still in progress, and it would be premature for me to provide any comments on the eventual outcome of the case at this stage.”

Sushant Singh Rajput started his career as a television actor and went on to gain immense fame for his role as Manav Deshmukh in the show Pavitra Rishta which featured him alongside his then girlfriend Ankita Lokhande. The actor got his Bollywood break with Kai Po Che! (2013) and went on to do films like Shuddh Desi Romance, PK, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Kedarnath, among others. The actor was found dead at his Mumbai apartment in June 2020 and an investigation was launched over his sudden demise. His then girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty was initially considered to be a prime suspect but was later cleared of all charges.

Days later, we were again the first to inform that the film will see a direct-to-digital premiere on Amazon Prime on July 21. And now, we have got some more exclusive scoop on the reason why Bawaal is taking a direct-to-digital premiere.

According to our trade sources, Sajid Nadiadwala has received a very good deal from Amazon Prime Video for the direct-to-digital premiere of the film. "In times when the OTT market is crashing, Sajid Nadiadwala got a deal of Rs. 110 crores from Amazon Prime Video. As known by everyone, Bawaal is not your run-of-the-mill commercial film, and the offer from Amazon gave Sajid and his team the security of assured returns. Varun and Janhvi also agreed to this decision as the film does not have those commercial trappings," a source told Bollywood Hungama.

According to insiders, Sajid, Varun, and Nitesh believe in the power of Bawaal and will take the film globally in the digital world. In fact, the world premiere of the film will take place in Paris, and the film will premiere in 200 countries. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Bawaal is the third collaboration of Varun Dhawan and Sajid Nadiadwala after Judwaa 2 and Kalank.

The film will release on July 21 on Amazon Prime Video.

In 2017, Rajkummar Rao portrayed the role of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in the online mini-series titled Bose: Dead or Alive. The series received acclaim and achieved numerous digital awards. Now, six years later, there is excitement within the industry as Rajkummar Rao is set to take on another significant role as per reports. According to industry insiders, following his successful portrayal of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Rajkummar Rao is preparing to portray the iconic leader Bhagat Singh in an upcoming project.

A source close to the development told Pinkvilla, “Rajkummar Rao is passionate about a project on Bhagat Singh and is very eager to play the revolutionary leader soon. The project is in a very nascent stage of development now as a team of writers is busy researching on the episodes from Bhagat Singh’s life. Rajkummar himself is very involved in the script development process and is treating it as a pet project.”

The source further added, “The team wants to make content around Bhagat Singh unlike anything done before. Rather than going in the conventional film format, the team is also exploring the long-form format for the story. It’s all in very early stages at the moment and the writing in itself will take another 6 to 8 months.”

On the film front, Rajkummar Rao recently starred in Anubhav Sinha’s film Bheed. The film also featured Bhumi Pednekar, Pankaj Kapur and Dia Mirza. Bheed is about the hardships faced by a section of the people because of the lockdown imposed in 2020 to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. Interestingly, the film has been shot in black and white format by Anubhav Sinha.

The digital invasion is here to stay. And A-lister stars are feeling the brunt of it. Just the other day, Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor were shocked to know that their collaborative labour of love Bawaal had been sold off to Prime Video.

Bawaal, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is an impressively costly films (estimated budget Rs. 275 crores) shot across several continents. It is a made-for-cinema experience starring two seemingly saleable stars Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor and its digitalized release didn’t go down well with the film’s actors.

Someone very close to one of the leads in Bawaal said, “We were shocked to know Bawaal is going straight to OTT. The film is designed for the large screen. But there is nothing anyone can do.”

This was the second time Varun Dhawan’s film was pushed to the digital domain against his wishes. The first time it was his father David Dhawan’s Coolie No.1 at the crest of the COVID-19 crisis.

Now, it is Sonam Kapoor who finds her labour of love being deprived of a big-screen release.

Sonam, who was last seen in The Zoya Factor, takes centre stage in Blind. She stars as a blind girl in the Hindi remake of the 2011 Korean film Blind, which will stream on Jio Cinema from July 7.

The announcement came as shocker to Sonam. Apparently she was not informed of the change of plans. However, as in the case of Bawaal, the producers of Blind had no choice as the theatre negotiations were not getting anywhere.

This is sad as Blind is Sonam’s only truly memorable performance since Neerja. The entire plot, about an ex-cop who goes blind in an accident that happens while she hunts down a criminal and how she chases him down in spite her physical disability, centres around Sonam’s character. Sonam, who has never done an action film before, kicks some serious butt in this Korean remake. A pity that her efforts would not be seen on the big screen.

The much-awaited film, Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny, is all set to release in Indian cinemas tomorrow, that is, Thursday, June 29. It is the fifth and final part of the franchise and will feature 80-year-old Harrison Ford essaying the iconic character one last time. The first part, Raiders Of The Lost Ark, was released in 1981 and emerged as a cult classic and redefined the action-adventure genre. Many of the memorable adventure films that came in later like The Mummy, Tomb Raider, Jumanji etc. were all somewhere inspired or gave a déjà vu of the Indiana Jones films. Even Indian cinema has drawn inspiration as evident with the content and look of films like Naksha, Ram Setu etc. In fact, RRR director S S Rajamouli’s next with Mahesh Babu is also on the lines of the franchise. Rajamouli’s father and the film’s writer K V Vijayendra Prasad recently said, “It is along the lines of the Indiana Jones series. It will be an adventure-action drama, with lots of emotions, like Raiders Of The Lost Ark.”

Interestingly, the second film of the series, Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom (1984), was set in India and horrified the countrymen with its content. It shows Dr Jones accidentally reaching India where desperate villagers ask him to find a mystical stone, stolen from their temple by a powerful man from a Thuggee cult practising child slavery, black magic and human sacrifice in honour of the goddess Kali. The principal antagonist was Mola Ram, played by Amrish Puri.

Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom showed several Indians as barbaric and uncivilized. In a dinner scene set in a palace, the men of royal blood are seen feasting on snakes, spiders and monkey brains! Mola Ram is seen pulling hearts from victims before sacrificing them in the most heinous way.

It was no wonder that Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom was banned by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Moreover, the government didn’t even permit the shoot in India as they had reservations about the plot points and also with the use of the word ‘Maharaja’. The makers then shot the India scenes in neighbouring Sri Lanka.

Though Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom was never released in India, word spread about its content and the depiction of Gods and it was perceived as demeaning. Amrish Puri, as expected, faced brickbats. He was even termed ‘anti-national’ and he reacted to this episode in his autobiography. He wrote, “It was a chance of a lifetime working with Steven Spielberg, and I don’t regret it even for a moment. I don’t think I did anything anti-national; it’s really foolish to take it so seriously and get worked up over it.”

Amrish further wrote, “It's based on an ancient cult that existed in India and was recreated like a fantasy. If you recall those imaginary places like Pankot Palace, starting with Shanghai, where the plane breaks down and the passengers use a raft to jump over it, slide down a hill and reach India, can this ever happen? But fantasies are fantasies, like our Panchatantra and folklore. I know we are sensitive about our cultural identity, but we do this to ourselves in our own films. It's only when some foreign directors do it that we start cribbing.”

Kangana Ranaut and filmmaker Sandeep Singh are set to launch a film soon. The title and the director of the film will be announced soon. The film will hit the floors early next year.

Announcing her collaboration with filmmaker Sandeep Singh, Kangana Ranaut said, "Sandeep and I have been friends for over 13 years and wanting to do a film for a long time. Satyaprem Ki Katha starring Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani is only a few days away from its release. Earlier this week, ‘Pasoori Nu’ was unveiled which is a remake of Pakistani Punjabi song crooned by Ali Sethi and Shae Gill for Coke Studio Pakistan. The new version has been sung by Arijit Singh and Tulsi Kumar. The music is given by Rochak Kohli and Ali Sethi. The lyrics of the song are given by Gurpreet Saini and Ali Sethi. While the song has received a mixed response from the audience, original singer Ali Sethi is supporting Arijit Singh’s version.

While sharing his views, in his recent live broadcast on Instagram, Ali Sethi said, “Arijit Singh is no 1. Main Arijit ke gaane sunta hoon and khaas taur par ‘Laal Ishq’, ‘Aayat’ and ‘Phir Le Aaya Dil’. Mujhe lagta hai ki yeh kaise ho sakta hai ki ek contemporary modern singer jo bilkul ek contemporary andaaz main gaaye like ‘Haan Main Galat’, woh jab semi classical andaaz ko chhedhte hai, you don’t feel for a moment that you are missing that shudhta which is required for classical (I have heard Arijit’s songs specially ‘Laal Ishq’, ‘Aayat’ and ‘Phir Le Aaya Dil’. Satyaprem Ki Katha also marks a collaboration between NGE and Namah Pictures. Interestingly, Sajid Nadiadwala and Shareen Mantri Kedia with Kishor Arora & director Sameer Vidwans won a National Award for their respective feature films. Filmmaker Karan Johar is all set to release the first song 'Tum Kya Mile' from his directorial Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani today. The song features Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt and has been crooned by Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal. With this song, Karan Johar pays homage to late filmmaker Yash Chopra who was the true pioneer of love songs shot in the valleys and actresses wearing chiffon sarees.

Ahead of the song release today in the afternoon, Karan Johar penned a heartfelt note. The song, choreographed by Vaibhavi Merchant, was shot in Kashmir. Karan said, "In a few hours #tumkyamile will be yours…. I remember at the very onset my instinct was that I wanted to film a love song that would unabashedly pay homage to my guru Yash Chopra…. The thinking evolved mind would say “you can’t match it or even dare to emulate it “ but the fan boy and the ardent lover of snow, chiffons,the stunning locations of Kashmir and sheer romance got the better of me. Pritam Dada and I yearned for a song for the ages from the ages and it had it be unapologetic or it wouldn’t be true …My deepest gratitude to Vaibhavi Merchant who got the Memo better than I did and completely took charge and being a Yash Chopra lover herself … she gave her heart to our song."

This was the first song Alia Bhatt shot after giving birth to her daughter Raha. Whereas it marks Ranveer's first snow-filled mountain love song. "This is also the first shoot Alia did after the birth of her angel and I remain in apology for freezing her in Manish Malhotra chiffons … in sympathy I fell drastically ill through the shoot ( a karmic punishment perhaps ????) Ranveer was nervous as this was his first lip sync mountain love song but he was a real trooper."

Adipurush starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan has been in controversy since its release. Now, on popular demand of viewers, Shemaroo TV is set to bring the timeless tale of Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan to the television screen. Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan is an eternal masterpiece that has captured the hearts of millions across generations. The show will ari from 3rd July onwards at 7:30 pm.

The cast of the show includes Arun Govil as Lord Ram, Dipika Chikhlia as Sita, Dara Singh as Hanuman, and Sunil Lahri as Lakshman. Their impeccable portrayals have made them eternal favorites among fans. Ramayan will air every Monday to Sunday at 7:30 PM on Shemaroo TV.

Arun Govil, who played Lord Ram in the TV show, has been critical of Adipurush. Actors Jung Hae In and Koo Kyo Hwan are all set to reprise their roles in the upcoming action-packed season of D.P. 2. Following the first glimpse at the Netflix Tudum 2023 event, the first teaser was unveiled on June 27, 2023.

In the first teaser, a soldier appears in the first scene who has drowsy eyes and seems to have to give up. He ends up committing a heinous crime by firing a rifle at people. One sees Ahn Joon Ho (Jung Hae In) and Han Ho Yeol (Koo Kyo Hwan) reprise their roles and team up to take to the streets and rescue the deserters who ran away from their positions. Actors Son Suk Goo, Kim Sung Kyun, and more also make their appearance. The season seems more intense and heavier than the first one.

The logline reads, “It'll always be the same. The deserters run, and the D.P. pursues. No matter what happened or happens nothing will ever change unless we do something, anything.”

D.P. 2 will arrive on Netflix on July 28, 2023.

Parineeti Chopra is back in New Delhi with her fiance Raghav Chadha after visiting Rajasthan for location scouting. The couple is apparently preparing for a winter wedding.

At the airport on Monday, Parineeti Chopra was dressed in a navy blue top along with a black shrug and pants. Raghav Chadha was wearing a beige shirt and pants. The two of them headed towards their car at the airport. Last month, Parineeti had visited Udaipur for location scouting. This time, the two of them visited Rajasthan together. The plan is to visit Jaipur as well.

Back in May 2023, it was reported that Parineeti met Shikha Saxena, Deputy Director of the Tourism Department of Udaipur. Speaking to Hindustan Times, Shikha had said, “I met Parineeti at the airport, where we had a good 20-minute conversation, following which we spent the day going to the venues with her. She was not directly talking about marriage but the conversation revolved around things which were indicative around that.”

“She was inquiring about the weather in Udaipur, when does the monsoon start and winter start. She had September in her mind. I told her that we have late monsoon, so it would be rainy till the last week of September. At that instance, she looked at her PA and noted down the information,” Shikha had added.

Salman Khan has once again received a death threat. The actor has already filed a complaint with Mumbai Police after receiving a threatening email earlier this year. He has received theatres from gangster Lawrence Bishnoi as well. Now, Goldy Brar, who claimed to be allegedly behind the murder of Sidhu Moosewala, has said that he will kill Salman Khan.

In an interview with India Today channel, Goldy Brar said that his gang will “definitely kill" Salman. “We will kill him, we will definitely kill him. Bhai saheb (Lawrence) had stated that he wouldn’t apologise. Baba will show mercy only when he feels merciful,” Brar said, and referenced to Lawrence Bishnoi.

Brar continued, “Like we have said earlier, it’s not just about Salman Khan. We will continue our attempts against all our enemies as long as we’re alive. Salman Khan is our target, there’s no doubt about that. We’ll keep trying, and when we succeed, you’ll know."

Ram Charan and Upasana Kamineni Konidela couldn’t hold their excitement as they announced their pregnancy in December last year. Since then, fans have been awaiting the good news. On June 21, the couple welcomed their first child, a daughter at Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad. The superstar and his wife also posted a frame-worthy photo with the newborn on social media. Now, Upasana decided to give her social media followers a glimpse of her pre-delivery.

In a video posted by Upasana Kamineni Konidel on Instagram on Sunday, the entrepreneur was seen being taken into labour room. Upasana posted the video as she captioned it saying, “5 days ago. Happiest moment of our lives! Surrounded by soooo much love <3”.

Earlier that day, Ram and Upasana received a warm welcome from their family as they arrived with their new born. Upasana had also shared about the moment on social media saying, “Overwhelmed by the warm welcome for our little one. Thank you for all the love and blessings”.

For the unversed, on June 21, Apollo Hospitals in an official statement, revealed that Upasana had become a mother. Followed by the announcement several wishes started pouring in for the popular couple, from friends and family including musician Kaala Bhairava, who congratulated the couple, by creating a unique tune for their newborn daughter.

On the work front, Ram Charan is gearing up for the release of the Pan India film Game Changer, directed by S Shankar and co-starring Kiara Advani.

Actor Abhishek Bachchan is all set to complete 23 years on June 30. On this day, in the year 2000, his debut film Refugee was released in cinemas. In recent times, his web show Breathe: Into The Shadows was highly praised, especially his challenging act. Interestingly, he hasn’t had a theatrical release in almost 5 years. His love triangle Manmarziyaan arrived on the big screen in September 2018. He was then seen in films like Ludo (2020), The Big Bull (2021), Bob Biswas (2021) and Dasvi (2022), all of which were released directly on OTT.

But in 2023 and 2024, Abhishek Bachchan is expected to be seen in several films. In a recent interaction with ETimes, he revealed that he has bagged Shoojit Sircar’s next film. He also stated that it’ll go on floors in August this year.

Interestingly, Shoojit has worked with his father, Amitabh Bachchan, several times. Both collaborated for a Gujarat Tourism campaign. Then Shoojit directed Big B in Shoebite, which unfortunately never saw the light of day. Then the veteran actor was seen in Shoojit’s Piku (2015), co-starring Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan. The film was a huge box office and critical success and also fetched 3 National Awards, including one for Amitabh. It remains to be seen if Shoojit’s film with Abhishek Bachchan also turns out to be yet another critical and commercial winner.

Speaking of other releases of Abhishek Bachchan, he has completed SSS7 (2019). It is a remake of the Tamil film Oththa Seruppu Size 7. SSS7 promises to make for a unique watch, as Abhishek is the only actor that features in the film. This will be followed by R Balki’s Ghoomer, co-starring Saiyami Kher and Shabana Azmi.

Another Tamil remake that Abhishek is a part of is KD (2019). The Hindi remake’s title is expected to be changed. Just like the original, the remake is also helmed by Madhumita while it is produced by Nikkhil Advani’s Emmay Entertainment. Lastly, Abhishek recently wrapped up a film, which is directed by Remo Dsouza. There were speculations that it is called Dancing Dad and is the same film that Salman was supposed to do at one point. However, recent reports suggest that Abhishek’s film has a different script altogether.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has reached a remarkable milestone as he celebrates 31 glorious years in the Indian film industry today. It was on this very day, June 25, 1992, that Shah Rukh made his Bollywood debut with the film Deewana. To mark this momentous occasion and to express his gratitude towards his ardent fans, Shah Rukh took to Twitter once again, engaging in an interactive session known as Ask SRK. However, during the session, a fan asked if he could someday get to smoke with the actor. SRK’s witty reply left internet in splits.

Takin to Twitter on Sunday evening, a fan asked SRK, “Sath me cigarette pine chaloge kya @iamsrk sir ???” To this, the superstar responded saying, “Nahi beta jawan ke din jawani ke josh mein theater pe jaana hai!”

On the film front, SRK made his comeback on the big screens with Pathaan, which was released earlier this year. The Siddharth Anand directorial, backed by YRF, also featured Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. The film went on to break several records. He will be next seen in Jawan. Helmed by Atlee Kumar, the upcoming pan-India flick will be released on September 7. Besides Khan, it will star Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi. Along with this, he also has an upcoming Rajkumar Hirani directorial, titled Dunki, in his kitty. Taapsee Pannu will be seen playing the female lead in it.
