A Pune-based lawyer, Asim Sarode, has issued a legal notice to singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya for his controversial remark describing Mahatma Gandhi as the "Father of Pakistan." The comment, made during a podcast interview, has sparked outrage, with Sarode threatening legal action unless Bhattacharya issues a written apology. The lawyer claims the statement disrespects Gandhi’s legacy and misrepresents historical facts.

The Controversial Statement In the podcast, Abhijeet Bhattacharya compared music composer RD Burman to Gandhi, saying, "Like Mahatma Gandhi was the father of the nation, RD Burman was the father of the nation in the world of music." He went on to assert, "Mahatma Gandhi was the father of the nation for Pakistan and not India." Lawyer's Objections and Gandhi’s Legacy The legal notice, filed on behalf of Manish Deshpande and other law students, accuses Bhattacharya of crossing the line with his remarks. Highlighting Gandhi’s contributions, Sarode stated, “Gandhi worked tirelessly for Hindu-Muslim unity and opposed partition vehemently, saying, ‘To accept partition, it will be over my dead body.’” The lawyer also stated Gandhi’s global recognition, pointing out that over 150 countries have issued postal stamps in his honor.

The notice demands that Bhattacharya submit a written apology for his comments, warning of criminal prosecution if he fails to comply. Sarode believes the singer’s statements undermine Gandhi’s work and promote misinformation. “Such remarks can hurt sentiments and mislead people,” the notice reads.

As of now, the singer has not issued any public statement addressing the legal notice.

Trade veteran Taran Adarsh disagreed, “Age is just a number (smiles). Also, people are aware of how old they are and yet, they are crazy about them. They are 90s superstars who have ruled not just the box office, but also our hearts. They are relevant even today and change with the times. From Sikandar, for instance, it’s clear that Salman seems in a different zone, though it has all the mass elements.”

He continued, “They’ll be now seen in slightly mature roles. Even they know that they can’t be running around in Switzerland. But when you move to mature roles and play your age, you start connecting with the masses.”

Trade analyst Atul Mohan remarked that Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan are at an advantage because of the evolving outlook of the audience towards aged heroes, “Now, things are different. Earlier, actors who would turn 50 or 55 would start playing character roles. But Shah Rukh Khan’s films are working big time. Even a weak film of Salman ends up collecting Rs. 100 crores. Amitabh Bachchan, Dilip Khanna, Rajesh Khanna, Dharmendra etc. had a downward trajectory before they turned 60 after which they moved to playing character roles.”

He added, “Until the audience accepts them and is doing the right kind of cinema, people will accept them.” He also gave the example of South stars who are older than the Khans and are ruling, “Rajinikanth is 70+ and manages to give huge grossers. Kamal Haasan delivered his career’s biggest hit Vikram (2022) at this age.”

Distributor and exhibitor Raj Bansal, however, disagreed, “It’ll affect their stardom. However, at the same time, no hero has come up so strongly except Ranbir Kapoor who can challenge their stardom. Hence, they are lucky to continue for so long.”

2025 for Khans

Sadly, in the year that Shah Rukh Khan turns 60, he won’t have any release. His next film, King, is expected to arrive in cinemas in March 2026. It also stars his daughter Suhana Khan along with Abhishek Bachchan and Abhay Verma. The film was in the news recently when Sujoy Ghosh left the project. Siddharth Anand will now direct this slick action film.

Salman Khan’s Sikandar will be released on Eid. Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par is expected to be released in the first half of 2025. He’ll also in a supporting role in his production Lahore 1947. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, it stars Sunny Deol besides Preity Zinta and Ali Fazal.

When we see his work or that of Kishore Kumar saab or Mehmood saab, I wonder ki humne kiya hi kya hai?”

It is famously said that Johny Lever once complained to Rishi Kapoor that his voice is such that the former is unable to mimic the latter. When asked if it’s true, Johny smiled and replied, “Yes, it is. Some people’s voices are such that you can’t copy them. After all, apne gale se kitni awaazein nikaalenge! I guess it’s the God’s way of saying ‘Tere gale ke liye itni awaazein kaafi hai. Isse rozi roti tu kama le’ (laughs). If I mimic Amrish Puri 3-4 times, mera gala baith jaayega. Despite its premiere at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, the movie has yet to see the light of day. In a candid interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Kashyap shared his frustration over the situation and revealed that multiple projects, including Kennedy, are stuck in limbo.

Five of Anurag Kashyap's Films Still Unreleased Kashyap, a pioneer in Indian cinema, revealed that five of his films are currently awaiting release. Among them, Kennedy remains the most notable, as it was well-received at international film festivals but still remains unreleased in India. Speaking about the film's current status, Kashyap stated, “I have made five films that are lying unreleased. Where is Kennedy? And whose hands is Kennedy in? It’s in the hands of some people who’ve never made films before.” He expressed frustration over the fact that the film, which generated significant buzz at Cannes, is still caught up in a system driven by profit rather than passion for cinema. The Profit-Driven Film Industry According to Kashyap, the current state of the Indian film industry is preventing creative films like Kennedy from seeing the light of day. “People who made Kennedy in the studio are all gone. And now, the people who are there, the directive given to them is to up the share prices, generate profits, cost recovery… That’s all there is. Nobody is interested in films,” Kashyap lamented.

Kashyap also expressed his concern about the industry’s reluctance to take risks, which he believes has crippled the creative ecosystem. He contrasted this with the South Indian film industry, where filmmakers like Sukumar have the freedom to create bold narratives, such as Pushpa. “In the South, they invest in filmmakers and empower them to make films. Here, everyone is trying to create a universe. Do they understand their own universe, and how minuscule they are in it?” he remarked. Detaching from Kennedy The filmmaker also spoke about his emotional detachment from Kennedy, acknowledging the impact of the delays on his mental well-being. Kashyap explained, “I’ve detached myself from Kennedy, because I don’t want it to become like Black Friday. I will not let anything pull me down again in life…” He also admitted to feeling disappointed by the industry’s unwillingness to take creative risks but stated that he no longer had the energy to fight against the system. “I’ve had my fights, but you can’t fight a wall. I don’t have the energy…” he said. A Changing Perspective on the Industry Despite the challenges, Kashyap remains committed to his craft. However, his disillusionment with the current state of the industry has led him to contemplate a move out of Mumbai. From their early collaborations to their latest ventures, Salman and Sajid have had a memorable cinematic partnership with some of Bollywood’s most beloved blockbusters, beginning with Jeet (1996) then the evergreen comedy Judwaa (1997). They followed it up with Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega (2000) and then a smashing hit with Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004), and the action-packed Kick (2014), which set new benchmarks at the box office. Now, their upcoming film Sikandar promises to continue the legacy, with trade analysts already predicting record-breaking numbers.

Sources reveal that Sajid has always been a source of strength for Salman during challenging times, standing by him with steadfast loyalty. Similarly, Salman has always believed in Sajid’s vision, collaborating on his projects with utmost faith as they set a example of true friendship that they cherish.

Coming to the magnum opus Sikandar, after unveiling its first look poster, the makers dropped the teaser a day after Salman Khan’s birthday much to the excitement of fans. Directed by A R Murugadoss, Sikandar will explore the chemistry of Salman Khan with Rashmika Mandanna for the first time and will also feature Kajal Aggarwal, Prateik Patil Babbar, among others in key roles. It is scheduled to release in Eid 2025 as it promises to be a cinematic spectacle as it aims to blend action, drama, and emotion.

Mika Singh, who is best known for his music and singing chops, attempted to experiment by turning producer. The singer confessed that despite many advising him against entering the world of production, Mika wanted to give a try and decided to start with a web-series starring Karan Singh Grover and Bipasha Basu titled Dangerous. However, the musician claimed that it was a ‘horrible’ experience and said that the actors created a lot of drama.

During an interaction with KADAK YouTube channel, Mika Singh shared his experience of turning producer and revealed that his initial plan was to only cast Karan Singh Grover along with a fresh face. “I wanted to cast Karan Singh Grover and a newcomer girl so that the project remains under budget, and we make something nice, but Bipasha Basu jumped into it and was like, ‘We can both be part of this series’. They didn’t exceed the budget, but the experience was horrible,” he said during the interview.

He further elaborated on why the experience turned into a nightmare and stated that the schedule was extended leading to financial loss. “I took a team of 50 to London for a month-long schedule. However, it was extended to two months. Karan and Bipasha created a lot of drama. They were a married couple, so I booked a single room for them. But, they were like, ‘No, we need our separate rooms.’ I didn’t understand the logic. They then demanded to moved to a different hotel. We did that as well,” he added.

Talking about the delay, Mika continued, “Later, when we were shooting a stunt scene, Karan Singh Grover fractured his leg. They even created issues while dubbing the film. They were giving excuses that they have sore throats and other things. I couldn’t understand the drama, especially when they were paid for their work.”

The singer was merely surprised when the real-life husband wife created issues about onscreen kissing. “They are husband and wife, and yet they created drama around kissing each other on screen,” he expressed.

While deciding that he wouldn’t produce any shows further, the musician couldn’t help but wonder about the situation of small-time producers. “These stars fall on the feet of big producers like Dharma Productions and Yash Raj Films and keep praising them for even the tiniest roles, but their attitude changes when it comes to smaller producers. Aren’t we also spending money?” he questioned.

In the same interview, Mika Singh also insisted that while he intends on not continuing to produce, he thanked Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan for giving him sound advice about production and why it wasn’t the right choice for Singh.

Bigg Boss 18, known for its drama, went on to garner much attention recently during the eviction of Sara Arfeen Khan. The actress-host came under the radar when she allegedly pushed and pulled co-contestants during a task and when Karan Veer Mehra attempted to stop her, Khan turned the tables and accused him of hurting her, further threatening to sue Bigg Boss for this.

During a certain ski board task, where contestants were supposed to compete on a racecourse, Sara Arfeen Khan was disqualified which further agitated her and she was seen pulling and pushing contestants off the ski board, causing chaos during the activity. In the process, while Chum Darang was about to get hurt, Karan Veer Mehra tried to stop it by pulling Sara away from there, that left Khan extremely angry. During the same, the actress-host fell down and she went on to accuse Karan of causing the fall.

Later, when she was confronted by Vivian DSena about the same, Sara insisted that she was scared and alone during the task which caused to react and protect herself, during which Karan pulled and manhandled her. After the same, Sara revealed that she would contact her lawyers if Bigg Boss didn’t take any action over what happened to her. Meanwhile, it is being said that Sara was also agitated during the task owing to her elimination. As of now, the housemates seem divided over their support towards Sara and Karan Veer Mehra.

After several eliminations and evictions, the house currently holds Vivian DSena, Eisha Singh, Avinash Mishra, Chum Darang, Shrutika Arjun, Karan Veer Mehra, Chaahat Pandey, Kashish, Rajat Dalal, as key contestants.

According to news report, the film’s teaser will be unveiled soon and it stars Rashmika Mandanna for the first time with Khan along with Kajal Aggarwal and Prateik Babbar in key roles. Rohit Shetty has a history with cop films, and over the last 15 years, has delivered 5 successful films in the cop universe. While he is directing Golmaal 5 next, we hear that Rohit Shetty is all set to produce a film based on the life of real life hero Rakesh Maria. According to reliable sources, Rohit Shetty has a long term equation with the former Join Commissioner of Mumbai Police, Rakesh Maria and is making a biopic on his life to pay tribute to his heroics.

"Rohit Shetty is fulfilling his long-term commitment of making a biopic on Rakesh Maria, who has been a pillar of support for Rohit through the research of all his cop universe film. The script is locked and Rohit is all set to take the film on floors in Summer 2025," a source told Bollywood Hungama.

The film will be lead by John Abraham and the actor will be playing the titular role of Super Cop Rakesh Maria in the film. "John is charged up to collaborate with Rohit Shetty. This won't be a part of cop universe, but be a universe in itself, as Rakesh Maria is the most celebrated cop of real-life cop universe," the source told us further.

This would be next for Rohit Shetty production after Singham Again and will hit the big screen in 2026.

When sixteen years ago the blockbuster Ghajini, co-produced by Allu Aravind and Madhu Mantena, became the first Indian film to touch the Rs. 100 crores mark, no trade pundit could have predicted that eighteen years later Allu Arjun would be poised to incept the Rs. 1000 crores club with Pushpa 2: The Rule.

Said filmmaker Shoojit Sircar, “Congratulations to both. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to see either milestone films. But this is a huge achievement. These box office figures will help us generate more films and more job opportunities.”

The teaser, originally scheduled to be unveiled on December 27 at 11:07 AM—coinciding with Salman Khan’s birthday—will now release on December 28 at the same time.

The makers of Sikandar shared the update via social media. The statement read, “In light of the passing of our esteemed former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Ji, we regret to announce that the release of the Sikandar teaser has been postponed to 28th December 11:07 AM. Remembering Dr. Manmohan Singh

Dr. Manmohan Singh passed away on December 26 at the age of 92 due to age-related medical conditions. The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi, where he was admitted, released a statement confirming his demise. “With profound grief, we inform the demise of former Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, aged 92. He was being treated for age-related medical conditions and had a sudden loss of consciousness at home on 26 December 2024,” the statement said. Despite resuscitative efforts, Dr. Singh could not be revived and was declared dead at 9:51 pm.

Dr. Singh, who served as India’s Prime Minister for two consecutive terms from 2004 to 2014, was the architect of India’s economic liberalization policies in 1991. His calm and visionary leadership earned him immense respect across the political spectrum and among citizens. He is survived by his wife, Gurcharan Kaur, and three daughters.

Producer Boney Kapoor recently opened up about his younger days and shared insights into his brother Anil Kapoor’s early struggles in the film industry. The film had generated excitement not just due to its mass element, Varun Dhawan’s casting and Atlee’s association but also because of Salman Khan’s cameo. Its glimpse was shown briefly in the trailer and it added to the excitement.

It has come to light that the superstar’s special appearance is quite rocking and would be loved by fans. Salman Khan is lovingly called Bhai Jaan by fans and in Baby John, his character is named Agent Bhai Jaan! This tribute will surely be appreciated by his millions of admirers across the world.

This is the second cameo by Salman Khan in less than two months. He was also seen in a special appearance Singham Again. However, his appearance in this multi-starrer Diwali release hardly lasted for a few seconds and hence, fans were dejected. But in Baby John, fans would have no complaints. He has enough screen space and he’s seen doing not just action but also comedy.

In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Baby John producer Murad Khetani explained how Salman Khan came on board, “Atlee informed me about the requirement for a star for a cameo. He asked if Salman sir could come on board. I assured him that I’d talk to him. I met Salman bhai; we sat and started chatting. It took me an hour to gather the courage to ask him. Finally, I told him ‘Apni picture mein Varun ke saath ek din ka cameo shoot karna hai’. He replied, ‘Yes, done. Bata dena kab karna hai’. So, while it took me an hour to gather the courage to ask him, he took less than 10 seconds to give his nod! That’s how Salman bhai is; large-hearted and humble.”

Two days from now, on December 27, Salman Khan will celebrate his birthday. On this momentous occasion, the teaser of his much awaited film Sikandar will be unveiled digitally. Meanwhile, Baby John will be running in cinemas in which the star is shown in a massy avatar, albeit in a cameo. Hence, Salman fans are in for a treat in this final week of 2024.

Subedaar is produced by Vikram Malhotra, Anil Kapoor, and Suresh Triveni. The compelling narrative is written by Suresh Triveni and Prajwal Chandrashekar. The release date of the film continues to stay under wraps.

Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, who tied the knot over six years ago, welcomed their first child in September this year. The happy couple, ever since then, has been enjoying their parenthood journey. While they have been making rare public appearances, recently they surprised the paparazzi by inviting them to their residence to introduce the cameramen to their daughter Dua Padukone Singh.

For the unversed, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, who tied the knot in November 2018, became proud parents to a baby girl on September 8. During the occasion of Diwali, the couple unveiled the name of their daughter as Dua Padukone Singh on social media where they shared an adorable photo of their little angel’s baby feet and said, “‘Dua’ : meaning a Prayer. Because She is the Answer to our Prayers. Our hearts are filled with Love & Gratitude. Deepika & Ranveer”.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Deepika Padukone seems to have taken a break to enjoy motherhood and will be announcing her upcoming projects soon. Whereas, Ranveer Singh is collaborating with Aditya Dhar in a one-of-a-kind project where he will be seen sharing screen space with Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, and others in a film reportedly titled Dhurandar. The actor is also expected to have Don 3 and other films in pipeline but there has been no update regarding the same.
