Filmmaker Suneel Darshan’s Jaanwar came at a time for Akshay Kumar when he was badly looking for a hit after a long series of flops. The film was an emotional story of a father and it also starred Karisma Kapoor and Shilpa Shetty.

As Jaanwar worked at the box office and managed to touch the audience, the actor was keen to work with the director again. So much so that when he heard that the filmmaker had visited a young actor after the release of Jaanwar, he got worried thinking that the director might not sign him for his next.

But Akshay soon came out of the anxiety as Suneel Darshan did cast him for his next Ek Rishtaa: The Bond Of Love. During a video interview with Bollywood Hungama, the filmmaker recalled the moment when he narrated the idea to him for the first time.

“He (Akshay) invited me for dinner one night at his house and asked, ‘Ab kya banaoge aap mere saath?’ So I just narrated another idea of mine to him. It was Ek Rishtaa. It was immediately after (Jaanwar),’ said Suneel Darshan.

Akshay was so mesmerized by the narration, that he went down-to-earth, literally. “We were just talking,” continued Suneel Darshan. “And in the process of the conversation, he sat down to the floor. He couldn’t believe that he was a part of a story that was so emotional. He had just lost his father. So, his emotional ends were quite ignited. He was so thankful that I had a story like this for him.”

Ek Rishtaa was about the relationship between a father (Amitabh Bachchan) and his son (Akshay), which goes sour. At the same time, the father, who runs a big company, gets duped by his employee and son-in-law, played by Mohnish Behl. The film was about how the father-son duo reunite for the sake of their business and family.

During promotions of Bhediya, Kriti Sanon embraced the denim-on-denim trend. Kriti arrived at the airport wearing this casual yet mostly uber-sporty ensemble. These were chosen from the Kanika Goyal’s Spring Summer 2023 collection and keep it stylish, on-point, and a team to go glam with. It was finished off with an enormous zipper jacket with long sleeves and huge pockets on top of a form-fitting black sports bra. Interestingly, Kriti also wore high-waisted jeans with a tie-up and elasticized waistband similar to track trousers. It had some contrast and vertically positioned, ripped-finish black piping. With the competition getting fierce and aggressive with each passing day, Bigg Boss 16 has seen many twists and turns. As the finale nears, we saw some of the most popular contestants bidding adieu to the show and it seems that Shalin Bhanot, who has been in news for his various stints in the reality show, has now expressed his desire to voluntarily bow out of the show. This comes as a surprise considering that the actor has been receiving a lot of support on the show. The actor also revealed that he is upset with the way Tina Datta backed out and didn’t take his side.

His decision comes after Shalin Bhanot had a showdown with rapper MC Stan. The two engaged in a heated argument at the Bigg Boss house. Followed by that, the contestants were called into the confession room to speak about the matter. Meanwhile, Tina Datta was asked to give her verdict on the matter, during which, the Uttaran actress maintained that both the contestants were at fault. Her comment really hurt Shalin, who had earlier even confessed about having feelings for her, after which, he requested his exit from the show. The actor expressed that he felt betrayed after Tina refused to take his side, which prompted him to make this request.

Speaking about how both MC Stan and Shiv Thakare became physical, former Bigg Boss contestant Rahul Vaidya maintained that, “MC stan and shiv were very wrong today & both became physical on shalin! Both should be thrown out because It was Stan who abused first & charged on to Shalin and Shiv Scratched Shalin’s Face which was in extremely bad taste & is absolutely unacceptable!#BiggBoss16”. He added, “Shalin handled the whole situation very well and with composure! And in all this Sumbul again looked like a joker.” He concluded adding that abuses are not a good way to retaliate, “I am strongly against Maa Behen Abuses! The much-awaited film Drishyam 2 has opened to a fabulous response. It has brought a wave of cheer to the industry and exhibitors. What has also added to their happiness is that Bhediya, which will release next week, also has generated huge hype. This is due to the concept of a man turning into a wolf, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon’s presence, youthful appeal and music.

Bollywood Hungama has learnt that Bhediya’s censor process has been completed and the makers were given a U/A certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). However, the producers had to make certain changes in the cuts, as recommended by the CBFC’s examining committee. The abusive word ‘c*****a’ was replaced with ‘gadha’. At another place, ‘b*******d’ was replaced with a scream, ‘aaahh’.

And that’s not all. The examining committee also asked for changes in certain non-abusive dialogues. ‘Ganga Jamuna mix’ was asked to be replaced with ‘Ganga Jamuna juice’. The word ‘sansad’ was changed to ‘body’ while ‘PMO’ was changed to ‘minister’. Finally, ‘country’ was removed and replaced with ‘logo’.

After these changes were carried out, the censor certificate was handed out to the makers of Bhediya. The length of the film, as mentioned on the censor certificate, is 156 minutes. In other words, Bhediya is 2 hours and 36 minutes long. Trade veteran Taran Adarsh mentioned yesterday on Twitter that the run of the time also includes 16 minutes of end credits and scroll. The censor certificate was secured by the producers on Thursday, November 17.

Bhediya is all set to be released on November 25. Besides Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon, it also stars Abhishek Banerjee and Deepak Dobriyal. It is directed by Amar Kaushik of Stree (2018) and Bala (2019) fame. Interestingly, Bhediya belongs to the same universe as Stree. Stree’s actress, Shraddha Kapoor, also appears in a special appearance in a song in the film.

In an exclusive music room interview with Bollywood Hungama, while sharing the interesting behind-the-scenes stories of how they created their chart-buster scores, Salim and Sulaiman talk about their two albums that did well but the film didn’t. Talking about their albums for the film Kurbaan, Salim asserted, “That is an amazing album. I think it’s one of our best albums.”

Sulaiman then added, “It’s surprising the film didn’t do so well unfortunately, but it’s one of those films where the film doesn’t do well but their songs become evergreen. I think there are only two such films that we’ve done, that I remember, whose songs became a hit. Kaal.” Agreeing to him, Salim added, “Yeah, that’s true. Songs from Kaal did really well.”

Directed by Rensil D'Silva, Kurbaan is a 2009 action-thriller film starring Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor. While Kaal is a 2005 supernatural horror film starring Ajay Devgn, Vivek Oberoi, Esha Deol, John Abraham and Lara Dutta.

Aamir Khan's daughter Ira Khan got engaged to her longtime boyfriend Nupur Shikhare on November 18, in a lavish ceremony in Mumbai.

Ira can be seen wearing an elegant red off-shoulder gown as she was photographed with fiancé Nupur, a celebrity fitness trainer, who looked dapper in a tuxedo. Aamir can also be seen sporting an ethnic look, flaunting his greys in the pictures.

The grand engagement ceremony was attended by Ira's father Aamir Khan, mother Reena Dutta, Kiran Rao, Aamir Khan's nephew Imran Khan, grandmother Zeenat Hussain, Ashutosh Gowariker and other family and friends.

Over the past few days, Bollywood Hungama has been reporting about the advance bookings of the Ajay Devgn and tabu starrer Drishyam 2. Given the success of its first instalment, the sequel created the right kind of noise since its inception. Ajay Devgn has made a solid comeback on the big screen after the poor performance of his previous release Thank God at the box office.

Interestingly, the sequel of Drishyam has sold over 1.27 lakh tickets across PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis on first day alone. While PVR has registered 55,909 tickets being sold, INOX follows close behind with the sale of 49,962 tickets followed by Cinepolis which has clocked 22,000 tickets being sold.

Talking about Kartik Aaryan starrer Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, the horror-comedy hit screens earlier this year had registered 92,000 tickets being sold for its first day.

Ever since the advance booking windows were opened for Drishyam 2, the numbers gained momentum with each passing day. We had previously reported that 58,598 tickets had been sold for day one till Thursday afternoon. However, the number doubled as the film sold over 1.27 lakh tickets on its opening day.

As the film is released, and a majority of reviews are praising the performance of the star cast, the film is expected to continue performing well at the box office. Directed by Abhishek Pathak, the main start cast reprises their respective characters, while Akshaye Khanna joins the series as a new cop investigating the case.

Siddharth Malhotra and Rashmika Mandanna starrer Mission Majnu will directly release on OTT. The movie will be released on Netflix on January 18 next year. For the unversed, Mission Majnu will narrate a story based on India's RAW operation in Pakistani.

As per a report by Pinkvilla, the streaming platform is expected to make an announcement regarding the same in the coming days. Quoting a source in the report, the portal said, “The makers have decided to release the film on January 18 on Netflix. The platform will make an official announcement soon.”

However, it is worth mentioning here that until either the makers or the streaming giant makes the official announcement to confirm the same, the accuracy and credibility of the information remain in question.

Coming back to Sidharth Malhotra, if the film actually gets a digital release, it will be Sid’s second film released on an OTT platform. Released on Prime Video, Shershaah was an instant hit. He was last seen in Thank God, released in theatres on October 25.

Along with him, the film also featured Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh. The comedy-drama performed poorly at the box office.

Currently, the Student Of The Year actor is shooting for his first collaboration with director Rohit Shetty. The filmmaker is all set to make his digital debut with a web series, titled Indian Police Force. A few days back, Sid was shooting a schedule in Delhi. The upcoming web series will also star Shilpa Shetty in a prominent role.

The recently launched trailer of the Kajol-starrer Salaam Venky has managed to garner a positive response. While a section of moviegoers is waiting for its release, the star cast has already kickstarted the promotions of the film. Interestingly, Kajol will grace the judges' panel of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Season 10 this weekend. As her friend and filmmaker Karan Johar is already seated on the judges' panel, the upcoming episodes will be filled with fun.

In a fun activity, host Maniesh Paul requested Kajol and Karan to come on the stage. Maniesh asks Karan to name Kajol’s crush from the film industry except for Ajay Devgn, who is her husband. Further talking about the film and how the song was so pivotal for the particular scene in the film, Salim shared, “Our point of view was the initial version of the song Maula Mere Toote Na Ye Dor was based on the emotional bond between her [Ayesha] and her husband who is in captivity; he can only be sheltered by the wife of the deceased, according to the Sharia Law.

So, it was a sad moment because she is sad, and she is in disconcert as to how she can I free her husband. But the director’s point of view was something else... he wanted some positive element to the song, that’s why words like Raah Pe Kaante Bikhare Agar, Usape To Fir Bhi Chalana Hi Hai, Shaam Chhupa Le Suraj Magar, Raat Ko Ek Din Dhalana Hi Hai. So, this was beautifully penned by Mir Ali Hussain.”

Karan Johar is all set to launch Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s son Ibrahim. The former couple’s elder son Ibrahim will be launched by Karan Johar in early 2023 . The film will be directed by Boman Irani’s son Kayoze Irani who has been closely associated with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions ever since he played a small role in Student Of The Year in 2016. Kayoze also directed the segment entitled Ankahee in Dharma Productions’ omnibus Ankahee Dastaan.

The Kayoze-directed yet-untitled debut film of Ibrahim Ali Khan will follow the release of the Karan Johar-directed Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani.

Incidentally, Ibrahim is assisting Karan Johar on Rocky Aur Rani… Karan Johar was supposed to launch Ibrahim’s sister Sara Ali Khan. But before he could zero in on the right vehicle, she made her debut in Abhishek Kapoor’s Kedarnath. With Karan’s blessings, of course.

Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana has wowed all with the trailer of his upcoming high-octane entertainer An Action Hero. The film's promotions have begun in full swing and Ayushmann is leaving no stone unturned. 

The actor today took off to Pune for the promotions, where he unveiled the teaser of his much-awaited song 'Jehda Nasha' alongside the sensuous Nora Fatehi. While on his way to Pune for the promotions, Ayushmann went live on his Instagram to interact with the fans and give them a glimpse of his choc-a block schedule.

Interestingly, apart from the fans, who had a good time interacting with their favourite actor on Insta live, what caught Ayushmann's attention was Bollywood star Varun Dhawan's quirky compliment for Khurrana which read, "Action hero lag rahe hai mast."

Needless to say, that comment surely made Ayushmann's day!

Directed by Anirudh Iyer and produced by Aanand L Rai and Bhushan Kumar, An Action Hero is all set to release on December 2, 2022. While speaking about the film, Khurrana had said, “An Action Hero is a genre breaker for me. It is different from my staple genre of social comedy and there is no message in it. There is pure thrill. It is a roller coaster ride.”

On the other hand, Varun Dhawan is also gearing up for his next, Bhediya. The Amar Kaushik directorial is slated to release on November 25.

Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan is currently gearing up for her upcoming film, director Hansal Mehta’s untitled next. The actress started shooting for the film in October onwards. After taking a brief break for Diwali and her 10th wedding anniversary, Kapoor was back on the sets.

Though details of her forthcoming project are still under wraps, her Instagram feed often gives her 9.8M followers a peek into behind-the-scenes. Making an addition to the same, the Jab We Met actress, on Wednesday, took to her social media and shared a photo dump. Interestingly, all the shots in the multiple-pictures post were BTS.

The Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham actress can be seen having a fun time with the crew of the film. Captioning her post, she wrote, “Dover Diaries (red heart emoticon) United Kingdom 2022 (red heart emoticon) Always a mood on set,” followed by a heart-eye emoji. She also tagged the director and the makers of the film, Mahana Films and Balaji Motion Pictures.

Hollywood actress Denise Richards and husband Aaron Phypers’ car was reportedly shot at during a recent road rage incident on Monday in Los Angeles.

According to Page Six, the couple is out of danger and okay. Phypers was chauffeuring the actress to a film studio when the male driver behind them got irritated that they were having a hard time finding the place.

The outlet cites TMZ and further states that Phypers let the upset driver, who was allegedly shouting at them while trying to squeeze in front of their car, pass them. That’s when the driver allegedly shot at Phypers and Richards’ vehicle, striking the back end on the driver’s side.

As per the report, no one was physically harmed, Richards was “unnerved” and crying hysterically when she showed up to the set of her upcoming movie Angels Fallen: Warriors of Peace. Someone from production called the police however it’s still unclear whether a report was filed.

The outlet notes that Phypers stayed with his wife as she “powered through” and “worked for 12 hours.” The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is investigating the incident which reportedly took place at near the intersection of Slauson and Western Avenues.

On Tuesday, the actress hosted a live chat session with her fans to talk about her self-care brand. During the same, she candidly opened up about finding the correct name for it.

“I'm sure all of you saw the campaign build-up over the last couple of days the brand is called 82 East. Some of you have read that ad to East is the longitude that runs through India. And it really I think when we went through a whole bunch of options, it just felt absolutely correct for where I am in my life and what we wanted to say through this brand that we are truly proud of who we are as a nation as a country and also our relationship with the rest of the world. So it's a very, very special name,” said the actress.

Explaining why she picked self-care as her entrepreneur journey, DP asserted, “It's something that has been very personal to me a journey that I've learned and discovered through trial and error over a period of time and I've reached a stage in my life where I don't prioritize anything more than myself care. Skincare has been an extremely important part of my self-care ritual. It's you know, it's that time in the morning when I just have those few moments to myself. Healthy skin is something that I'm really passionate about.”

The last one week has been a dramatic one thanks to the developments that happened over Hera Pheri 3. Speculations arose that Akshay Kumar is out of the film while Kartik Aaryan has stepped in. On Friday, November 11, Paresh Rawal confirmed on Twitter that Kartik is indeed a part of the much-awaited sequel. Later, Akshay Kumar at an event claimed that he was out of Hera Pheri 3 as he was not happy with the script.

Today, an article in Mid-Day carries a quote from Suniel Shetty who reveals that he’s shocked at the sudden turn of events. He also gave hope to the fans as he said “I want to see if things can still fall in place”, that is, if he, Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal can reunite for Hera Pheri 3.

Bollywood Hungama exclusively spoke to Suniel Shetty as part of the promotions of his web series, Dharavi Bank. When asked to comment on his hope of getting the original cast back, he said, “That would be the best thing to happen. There are speculations that Kartik replaced Akshay. See, Akshay cannot be replaced. The makers are in talks with Kartik for a completely different character. So, there’s no argument.”

He also agreed that without Akshay Kumar, Hera Pheri 3 would be a different experience, “That void will always be there. What finally happens is something that needs to be seen. I am not aware because I am genuinely busy with Dharavi Bank. I have had no time to sit down and work on all this. After November 19, I’ll sit down and understand and talk to Akki and others and see what happened.”

He also spoke highly of Hera Pheri’s producer, “Firoz Nadiadwala, poor guy, hasn’t had a release for 14 years. He’s an old friend. Fingers crossed and I wish good for everybody.”

Hera Pheri (2000) starred Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty as tenants and Suniel Shetty as the landlord. The chemistry of the trio was much loved, which prompted Firoz Nadiadwala to make Phir Hera Pheri (2006). The sequel was a huge hit then but in the last couple of years, both films have achieved cult status. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama in June this year, Firoz confirmed that he’s going to take Hera Pheri 3 on floors very soon. The news spread like wildfire, and it proved the craze that the series has generated.
