Netflix has become the streaming platform to share comprehensive viewership data and what people are watching on the platform. Kicking off ‘What We Watched: A Netflix Engagement Report’ which will be released twice a year, the streamer will be unveiling a detailed report of what the viewers have watched in six months. The report covers more than 18,000 titles from around the globe and nearly 100 billion hours viewed. This includes the hours viewed for every title — original and licensed — watched for over 50,000 hours; the premiere date for any Netflix TV series or film; and whether a title was available globally. Amongst those titles are two Indian content – web series Rana Naidu and the movie Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga which have made it to the Top 500 list.

Rana Naidu, starring Rana Daggubati and Venkatesh Daggubati, has garnered 46.3 million watch-hours viewership on the platform. On the other hand, Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga has 41. 7 million watch hours on the streaming giant.

Rana Daggubati and Venkatesh Daggubati came together earlier this year as the warring father and son duo in an Indian adaptation of the popular American series, Ray Donovan. The series premiered on March 10, 2023, and was produced by Sunder Aaron and Locomotive Global and created by Karan Anshuman. The series was directed by Karan Anshuman and Suparn S Varma.

Starring Yami Gautam and Sunny Kaushal, Chor Nikal ke Bhaga is a story about an air hostess and her businessman beau who are on a mission to steal diamonds to free themselves from the clutches of a loan shark. However, the heist goes horribly wrong when the very plane carrying the diamonds is caught up in a hostage situation. With the release of Animal, Bobby Deol is enjoying the film's success. The actor recently revealed that the viral ‘Jamal Kudu’ dance was his idea. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor and Triptii Dimri and is helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Animal has minted Rs. 434.02 crores at the box office in India.

Speaking to Bollywood Spy about his entry scene in Animal which has taken over the internet by storm, Bobby Deol said, “He (Sandeep Reddy Vanga) had made me listen to the music beforehand. He has got a great sense of music. He has got a great sense of everything about filmmaking. He found the song from somewhere and told me ‘I will play this in your introduction.’”

The actor further said, “When we started shooting, the choreographer said, ‘You do it.’ I was like, ‘What will I do?’ I started dancing and he told me, ‘No, No. Don’t do it like Bobby Deol.’ Then Saurabh, who plays my brother, I told him, ‘Can you do and show? How would you do it?’ Then I suddenly remembered the time when I was small and we used to go to Punjab. I remember how we used to get drunk and keep glasses on our heads. I never understood why we did it. It suddenly came to my mind and I did that. Sandeep liked it.”

Meanwhile, Bobby Deol will next star in the Tamil movie Kanguva. Directed by Siva, Suriya will play six different characters. Bollywood actress Zareen Khan has been granted interim bail and a city court barred her international travel without prior permission in connection to the cheating case dating back to 2018. The case was registered at Narkeldanga police station in Kolkata. The actress was granted bail by the Sealdah court till December 26 on a personal bond of Rs. 30,000.

The arrest warrant stemmed from an alleged cheating case dating back to 2018. The investigating officer had submitted a charge sheet against Zareen Khan before the Sealdah court in Kolkata. During this period, Zareen neither sought bail nor appeared before the court, resulting in the issuance of an arrest warrant due to her repeated absence.

The alleged incident in 2018 stemmed from Zareen Khan's anticipated performance during a Durga Puja celebration in Kolkata. She reportedly failed to make her scheduled appearance, which prompted the organizer to file a formal complaint of cheating against both the actress and her manager. Subsequently, a First Information Report (FIR) was lodged against the two individuals.

In her defence, Zareen asserted that she found herself misled by the event organizers. According to her account, the organizers had portrayed the event as a high-profile gathering attended by dignitaries, including the Chief Minister of Bengal. Khan cited miscommunications regarding the flight arrangements and accommodations that further complicated the situation, contributing to her unexpected absence from the event.

The trailer launch of Kho Gaye Hum Kahan was held at an open-air restaurant-cum-lounge in Mumbai in the presence of actors Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday and Adarsh Gourav along with director Arjun Varain Singh. Producers Ritesh Sidhwani and Reema Kagti along with Ruchikaa Kapoor Sheikh of Netflix also made their presence felt. The film deals with the complexities of relationships and the questions asked by the media were also based on this aspect. The first question was asked to Ananya about how one should forget their partner, with whom one was in a situationship for three years.

At this, Ananya Panday replied, “I think situationships are very complicated. It's a good thing that it has ended. Maybe, you can focus on a relationship so that there's more clarity. Sometimes, things end for a reason. Whatever is meant for you, will come to you.”

Later, another journalist asked for tips for coming out of a break-up. Siddhant Chaturvedi raised laughs as he remarked that the journalist, who asked the query, doesn’t require any tips as he’s surrounded by girls! Ananya Panday, on a serious note, suggested, “Don't move on too fast. Just go slow.” Siddhant, still in a mood to joke, quipped, “Listen to sad songs. Arijit Singh hai jab tak, tab tak sambhale hue hai apne aap ko!”

Siddhant Chaturvedi later was asked who he’d like to be featured in a boys' trip film. He took a pause and then answered, “Vicky Kaushal, Ranbir Kapoor and Lord Bobby!” The last person was a reference to Bobby Deol. He’s the man of the moment thanks to his performance in the recently released blockbuster, Animal. Hence, the mere mention of his name induced hoots from the audience.

Arjun Varain Singh, meanwhile, revealed, “We had a working title which was Friends Ya Followers. We weren't too sure about it and we were looking for other titles. And then Jee Le Zaraa was announced (to be directed by Farhan Akhtar). There was a lot of chatter on the internet (about film titles inspired by the songs of Excel's films). I asked my assistant Malaika to make a list of all the song titles of Excel's movies. We literally went through each one of them and we shortlisted a couple. We realized 'Kho Gaye Hum Kahan' perfectly captures what the movie is about. It captures the essence of us being the 'lost' generation. That's what the film is about.”

'Kho Gaye Hum Kahan' was the song from Excel’s 2016 romantic drama, Baar Baar Dekho, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Katrina Kaif.

As for the film Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, it releases directly on Netflix on December 26.

Actress Shilpa Shetty, who attended the bash with her daughter Samisha, took to social media to share glimpses of the same.

While abiding by Rani Mukerji’s thoughts on keeping Adira away from social media and media glare, Shilpa Shetty decided to refrain from sharing photos with the birthday girl. However, the actress did post several moments from the bash which gave us an entry into the Christmas themed party. From her younger daughter Samaira posing with elf, Olaf, and other fun characters in the bash, to her posing with choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant, as well as the host of the evening, Rani Mukerji, Shilpa posted many pics from the celebrations.

Talking about Rani Mukerji and Adira, the actress had recently revealed on Koffee With Karan 8 that she likes to keep her away from the media glare because she doesn’t want her daughter to feel privileged. "We have a different idea of how we want to raise Adira," the Mardaani actress had explained. "We don't want her to feel privileged or special in school. And that would happen only if she would not be photographed," she had added.

Dil Chahta Hai, which continues to be one of the most iconic coming-of-age dramas on friendship and love even after two decades, is also very special for Farhan Akhtar. The multi-faceted artist made his directorial debut with this entertaining venture in the year 2001, and the film was known for some emotional and fun sequences that depicted a strong bond between three best friends. One of them was the sequence where Akshaye Khanna, Aamir Khan, and Saif Ali Khan are seen enjoying the sunset from Chapora Fort in Goa.

Now two decades later, Farhan Akhtar recreated a similar sequence on social media. Taking to Instagram, the filmmaker-actor posted a photo of him sitting on the wall of the fort as he enjoyed the sunset and he also reminisced about Dil Chahta Hai in the caption as he wrote, “First time back at Chapora Fort since we filmed Akash, Sid and Sameer talking about life. That was 23 years ago. A lot has changed but the warm, sea-salt infused Goan air remains the same. Some places are just magical. <3”. For the unversed, the movie features a sequence where the three characters take off on an impromptu Goa trip where they are seen exploring some of the most picturesque locations in the beachy state.

Speaking of Dil Chahta Hai, the film showcased the journey of three college besties, Aakash aka Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan aka Sameer, and Akshaye Khanna aka Sid, who navigated the complexities of friendship and love in their journey to adulthood. The film also starred Preity Zinta, Sonali Kulkarni, Dimple Kapadia, Ayub Khan, Rajat Kapoor, among others in key roles. The film released in theatres on August 10, 2001 and received a massive response among youngsters who resonated with the movie.

The debate on nepotism, which kick-started years ago on a chat show, continues to be one of the most discussed topics in Bollywood even today. While struggling actors with no filmy background often speak about star kids who are privileged to get an entry into the film industry, the latter has reacted to these comments by adding that they face their own share of struggle in terms of audiences’ expectations and acceptance. Recently, the debate resurfaced when filmmaker Zoya Akhtar launched three star kids, namely Suhana Khan, Agastya Nanda, and Khushi Kapoor in her film The Archies.

Zoya Akhtar recently spoke candidly about the nepotism debate wherein she maintained that having a star kid in her film doesn’t affect or change anybody’s life. In an interview with Juggernaut, she said, "I think it (the debate) is about privilege, access, and social capital. I completely understand having anger or frustration at the fact that you do not have the access some people get so easily. That is a conversation to be had. Everyone needs to have the same kind of education, job opportunities, et al. But when you turn around and say Suhana Khan shouldn’t be in my film, it’s banal because it’s not going to change your life whether she’s in my film or not. You have to talk about what is going to change your life.”

She further went on to assert what she does with her money is her business and not anyone else’s. She continued, “My dad came from nowhere and made a life for himself. I was born and bred in the industry, and I have every right to follow whatever I want to do. As part of his network and what he made, I know those people. What am I going to do, disown my dad because I want to be a filmmaker? Are you saying I can’t choose my profession? It makes no sense. The actual problem is something else, and this is just like beating a dead horse… it’s not going to do anything. If every kid born into the film industry never worked in cinema, it’s still not going to change your life.”

“Nepotism is when I take public money or someone else’s money and favour my friends and family. Nepotism cannot be when I take my own money! Who are you to tell me what to do with my money? It’s my money! If tomorrow I want to spend my money on my niece, it’s my problem. At the end of the day, if a director or an actor gets another job, it is solely on the audiences. Viewers decide if they want to see them or not,” the filmmaker concluded.

The Archies also features non-star kids making their debut which includes Mihir Ahuja, Vedang Raina, Yuvraj Menda, and Dot. The film released on Netflix on December 7.

The Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Animal is unstoppable at the box office. In the first week, it collected Rs. 338.63 crores. The way it is trending, it has a high chance of crossing the collections of Gadar 2 (Rs. 525.45 crores), Pathaan (Rs. 543.05 crores) and Jawan (Rs. 643.87 crores). We ask trade experts what they feel about this aspect.

Vishek Chauhan, owner of Roopbani Cinema in Purnia, Bihar, said, “The way it’s trending, it is simply phenomenal. I expected it to be strong only for the first three days as reports came in that the second half was weaker than the first half. But the audience has bought into the film. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday collections were huge. On Thursday, it was raining in our area. Yet, it held on strongly. It has gone beyond expectations. “The film has struck a chord. Ab yeh nahin rukne nahin waali. It definitely looks like it’ll cross the Rs. 500 crore mark.”

He further said, “But, the female audience hasn’t come in hordes until now. That is one problem that the film might face. But it is being overcompensated by the repeated viewing of male audiences. The youth has connected with the film, the way they did with KGF - Chapter 2 (2022).”

In other parts of the country, however, the members of the fairer sex have endorsed Animal. Kiritbhai T Vaghasia, who runs The Friday Cinema multiplex in Surat, revealed, “We get a mix of both males and females. In fact, we usually get families and Animal is no exception.”

Raj Bansal, the owner of Entertainment Paradise in Jaipur, agreed, “Women are coming in huge numbers and are enjoying it. It has cruel scenes and violent action. Yet, people are loving it, including the below-the-belt humour. 3-4 days later, people are craving to watch it again. That’s a huge plus point.”

On this, Vishek Chauhan opined, “If women audiences have accepted the film in other parts of the country, then Rs. 500-550 crore is on. Nobody can stop it. Hopefully, I’ll also get women patrons from the second week.”

Raj Bansal, meanwhile, stated, “It’s too early to say (whether it can cross Gadar 2, Pathaan and Jawan’s collections) but it’ll cross the Rs. 500 crore mark. It’ll all depend on Dunki and Salaar. If god forbid the Christmas releases don’t do well, Animal will be unstoppable until Fighter’s release on January 25, 2024.”

Gujarat factor The state of Gujarat is seen as a conservative one where clean, universal films usually become hits. Hence, the success of Animal has surprised the industry. Kirtibhai exulted, “It is the first ‘A’ rated film to do such huge business in our theatre. The film has a lot of violence, action and sex. I guess the audience today likes these things”

He added, “80% of the patrons have loved it. During the interval, people come out in the F&B area singing praises. Towards the climax, some of them feel a bit dejected. A common complaint is that it’s too long. But nobody has hated the film until now.” Like Vishek Chauhan, he also said, “We felt that it’ll drop from the weekdays. However, it was very strong in the weekdays, even in the morning and afternoon shows.”

Trade guru Komal Nahta explained, “Sandeep Reddy Vanga has made the hero mouth such obscenities that the youngsters and masses have embraced the protagonist. They see him as one of them as that’s how they talk. Today’s youngsters, including girls, discuss their sex lives and talk filth openly. This is the first time ever that an actor has spoken such vulgar lines. Hence, the target audience is getting a kick as they have never experienced while watching a Hindi film before.”

He further said, “The ladies and family audience might be limited. Lekin masses bhar bhar ke aa rahe hai as they found their hero. That far exceeds the loss in terms of restricted family and ladies’ audience.”

Kiritbhai admitted that this is the first adult-rated film that is drawing house-full crowds and even he can’t explain why it’s happening, “Every day, we get 40-50 calls from customers asking whether children are allowed. Most of them are from nuclear families and the kids don’t have grandparents who can take care of them. We categorically inform them that anyone under 18 won’t be allowed entry. By doing so, we lose not 1 but 3 customers – the mother, the father and the child. But that’s not posed a problem as all our shows are going full or near-full.”

He signed off by saying, “We have even kept blockbuster rates over the weekend. Sometimes, customers complain about the prices. But in the case of Animal, people don’t ask for the rates. They simply say ‘2 ticket dena, 3 ticket dena, 5 ticket dena’. No one cares about the prices and this speaks volumes about the excitement Animal has generated!”

With such excitement, it’s a foregone conclusion that Animal’s sequel, Animal Park, will be a blockbuster of epic proportions. Komal Nahta exulted, “I can’t even imagine the earthquake Animal Park will cause. It will be huge.”

Along with the leading actors, the film is also expected to feature Dharmendra in a pivotal role. The actor, who won hearts yet again with his innocence and acting in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, will be seen in this entertaining venture too and the cast of the film had a special message for the veteran star on his 88th birthday.

Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon took to social media to pen their heartfelt birthday wishes and even posted unseen photos with Dharmendra from the sets of their untitled film. Shahid Kapoor took to his Instagram to share a photo of him clicking a selfie with the veteran actor, who seems to be quite decked up for a scene in the film. So it was the first destination we went to on that trip. He took us to this Michelin star restaurant and his nephew was with us who was supposed to take the photos and capture the moment,” she added.

“I’m sleepy because I have just landed and joined them on this trip. So, I was really tired and he had planned the works. He has done this candlelight dinner on top. We go back after dinner. He takes me up for a walk and suddenly a violinist comes out of the bushes playing and sweetly his nephew taking our video from the bushes and Sid goes on one knee and proposes. I was so overwhelmed. Then he starts saying the lines of Shershaah. He’s like, ‘Dilli ka seedha sadha launda hoon (I’m a simple boy from Delhi) with the full dialogues of Shershaah and I burst out laughing,” she said.

Recalling a moment on set, Vicky said, “In one of the shoot days, he had to rush to Delhi for a very important work and it couldn’t have happened at another time and another date. It was a very critical moment for my character in the film and it was with him. He just couldn’t be there for that shot and I had to give that shot with a body double. He got done with his work in Delhi and then he called me late in the night which I missed because there was an event.”

He continued, “He then sent me a long message saying, ‘Vicky, woh shot hum dobaara karenge. I’m really sorry that I couldn’t be there to give the cues.’ I had to call him and convince him that it went okay and Raju sir is happy with the shot. I was also nervous if I could pull off that shot again. But he insisted we do it because he was feeling terrible about not being able to give his shoulder in the shot. The next day he came on set and saw those shots and only after he was happy with them did he decide that we don’t need to reshoot them.”

This left Vicky mesmerized. “When I meet him, I realise how little I’m doing at this age. He just gives his hundred percent. If he’s talking to you, hundred percent of his being is talking to you. He’s just something else,” he said.

In a recent interview, choreographer Ganesh Hegde said that Suhana is as hard-working as her superstar father Shah Rukh Khan. He told Hindustan Times, “I told Shah Rukh also that she (Suhana Khan) is so much like you. She’ll never give up, keep rehearsing. Even when I tell her, bas ab thodi der ruk jao (Take a break now), she’ll keep doing it because she’s very clear that she wants to nail every step with perfection. The film is an Indian adaptation of a Global IP, the iconic Archies Comics. The Archies, set in the 1960s in an Anglo-Indian community based in the fictional hill station town called Riverdale is a coming-of-age story that follows the lives of the town’s favourite set of teenagers- Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead, Reggie, Ethel and Dilton. The film explores friendship, freedom, love, heartbreak and rebellion.

But what really crossed the line for me, what really made me draw a boundary was the denial or the justification of Palestinian children murdered in the thousands or the denial or glorification of Israeli women being raped, tortured and murdered. Bollywood actor Salman Khan was in attendance at the opening ceremony of the 29th Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) that began at the Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata on Tuesday. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was present at the event. During his speech at the ceremony, Salman Khan said that he felt small after visiting Mamata Banerjee's house and that it was smaller than his residence in Mumbai.

Speaking at the ceremony, Salman said, “When I was invited by Didi to her house, my only thing was, ‘I really want to see if her house is actually that small.’ Is it smaller than my house or not? One day, Anil Kapoor called me to his home. He said, ‘Let’s go to the first floor.’ But there were also four other floors. I think now it has become even bigger. I asked him if he had called me to make me feel jealous of his house. Coming back to Didi, I am jealous that her house is actually smaller than mine.”

He added, “When Shatru sahab (Shatrughan Sinha) comes to my house, he has a big problem that he doesn’t find space to sit. I have one room, one small kitchen and a bedroom, which is very important because we can’t sleep while standing. I am jealous of the fact that how can somebody (Mamata Banerjee), who is in such a position, have a house that is smaller than mine. I don’t wish for a smaller house but she has given me a big complex. It only shows how simple people are and we don’t need that much.”

Veteran television actor Dinesh Phadnis, best known for his portrayal of Inspector Fredericks in longest running TV crime show CID, has passed away at age 57. The actor was on a ventilator and undergoing treatment at Tunga Hospital in Mumbai. The actor succumbed to multiple organ failure and his death news was confirmed by his CID co-star Dayanand Shetty.

Confirming the tragic news to Indian Express, Dayanand Shetty said, “Dinesh breathed his last at 12.08 am. There were a lot of complications and he was removed from the ventilator last night.” The actor’s funeral took place at 10:30 am in Mumbai.

For the unversed, Dinesh Phadnis was an integral part of the TV show CID, which aired from 1998 to 2018 on Sony TV. He became a recognizable face among the show's viewers after starring as Inspector Fredericks. The actor also went on to star in the longest-running Indian sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. Helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the ‘A’ rated violent crime saga has collected Rs. 131. 07 crores within two days of its release and is set to surpass Rs. 200 crore club on Sunday, December 3. While the film has received polarizing reviews for its storytelling, it is also seeing people heading to theatres in big numbers. Now, a deleted scene from the movie has surfaced online.

The film was 3 hours 22 minutes long and a scene that was cut from the film was featured in ‘Arjan Vailly’ music video. The song is a lyrical journey that mirrors the intricate layers of the character essayed by Ranbir Kapoor and creates a musical piece that is both intriguing and powerful. In one of the last scenes, his character Ranvijay Singh Balbir is bruised as he boards his private jet with his bodyguards who are also his cousins, drinks alcohol and then pushes aside the pilot to fly the jet. The scene seems to have been removed from the movie as informed by fans on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, in June this year, announced the fifth installment of his hit comedy franchise Housefull. The film is helmed by Tarun Mansukhani and was earlier scheduled to hit the theatres on the occasion of Diwali 2024. It is the first comic franchise in India to have a fifth installment. Now, Akshay has confirmed that the film is moving to 2025 and will release on June 6.

Akshay Kumar on Monday, December 4, shared the official announcement from Sajid Nadiadwala which read, "The Houseful! franchise owes its massive success to the audiences, and we hope for a similar reception for Housefull 5. The team has crafted an absolutely mind-blowing story that demands top-notch VFX. Therefore, we've decided to push the release to ensure we deliver five times the entertainment with great cinematic experience. Housefull 5 will now be releasing on 6th June, 2025."

The first part of Housefull was released in the year 2010 and starred Akshay, Riteish Deshmukh, Lara Dutta, Deepika Padukone, Arjun Rampal and Boman Irani. This was followed by another hit sequel Housefull 2 which was released in the year 2012 and included Akshay, Ritiesh, John Abraham, Shreyas Talpade, Jacqueline Fernandez, Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Mithun Chakraborty and Asin. Both of the parts were helmed by director Sajid Khan. The third installment saw Akshay, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, Lisa Haydon, Chunky Pandey, and Jackie Shroff. And the fourth part had Akshay, Riteish, Bobby Deol, Kriti Sanon, Pooja Hegde and Kriti Kharbanda in the lead roles.

It has been almost 14 years since Rajkumar Hirani’s 3 Idiots released, but the film is still fresh in audience’s minds. Although it starred Aamir Khan, R Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Boman Irani and Kareena Kapoor Khan, it is also fondly remembered for Omi Vaidya’s act as Chatur Ramalingam aka Silencer. In fact, he became an overnight sensation after the film’s release.

Omi is now all set to star as the lead in the upcoming Marathi movie Aaichya Gavat Marathit Bol. This will be his debut film in his mother tongue. But that’s not all. The bigger news is that he will also turning director with this movie, which is a light-hearted entertainer.

As per an official press release by the makers, the film will see Omi play Samar, an NRI (Non Resident Indian) from America, who visits India to get married but gets involved in unexpected twists and turns. The makers have also released the poster of the movie. It shows Omi standing before the flag of the US. He is wearing an accessory as a groom on his forehead and his T-shirt has the words ‘Eligible Bachelor.’

The film also stars Sanskruti Balgude, Parth Bhalerao, Vidyadhar Joshi, Ila Bhate, Kishori Shahane, Uday Tikekar, among others.

In one of the news updates, veteran actor and filmmaker Junior Mehmood has been reportedly battling stomach cancer and is in dire condition. As per a report in Amar Ujala, his condition has worsened. In the latest video, actor and comedy legend Johnny Lever went to his residence to meet the ailing veteran actor.

As per the report in the Hindi publication, the actor will undergo an operation to remove the tumour from his stomach. In the video, Johnny Lever was motivating him during his conversation as Junior Mehmood was lying on the bed and looking visibly weak. Amar Ujala spoke to Salaam Qazi, who considers Mehmood as his brother, who said, “Junior Mehmood has tumour in his stomach. His blood pressure and sugar level had increased significantly due to which his weight has reduced by 20 kg. But he is already feeling healthy and is talking well to those who come to meet him.”

Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif is currently in Jeddah for the Red Sea International Film Festival 2023. The Tiger 3 actress also sat down for a conversation about her career and her upcoming movie Merry Christmas with Vijay Sethupathi which is helmed by Sriram Raghavan. At the festival, the actress said that it is the most difficult film she has ever done.

During a panel conversation, Katrina Kaif said, “It was always on my bucket list and one of my dreams to work with him (Sriram Raghavan) and I got the opportunity in Merry Christmas and it was phenomenal. By far, the most difficult film I have ever done. Definitely, the character took a lot out of me but the experience was something like he really challenges you as an actor. Also, it's a bilingual film. We shot the film in Hindi and Tamil. In Tamil version, I have actually spoken in Tamil. So it was two takes for whatever you were doing and that was really challenging but exciting.”

Renowned for illuminating the silver screen for decades, Rakhee Gulzar is making a comeback in Bengali films after a hiatus. Her last theatrical release in Bengal was Rituparno Ghosh’s Shubho Mahurat (2003) even though she was seen in Gautam Halder’s Nirban, which did rounds of several film festivals in 2019 as it didn't have a theatrical release. It thus clocks two decades of seeing Rakhee on the big screen in a Bengali film. Nirban was included in the Indian Panorama section of the 50th edition of the International Film Festival of India and was later screened at the Kolkata International Film Festival in 2019.

Rakhee Gulzar will portray the protagonist in Amar Boss, directed by Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee, with shooting expected to commence on January 3, 2024. The film also features Shiboprosad and Srabanti Chatterjee. Reflecting on her quiet life in Panvel during KIFF (2019), Rakhee shared her experiences of visiting Kolkata anonymously and exploring the local markets. She expressed joy in being able to move around without much recognition. She also spoke about being choosy, “I used to work in cinema when it was very different. But I have no regrets about stopping, about not working with directors I have not wrked with. My favourite director is Tapan Sinha, I love the way he made films for everyone. As an actress, I have had the same beliefs.”

Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh was honoured at the third edition of the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia. Over the course of 10 days starting from November 30 to December 9, the festival will celebrate the local and international filmmaking talents. Along with Ranveer, German actress Diane Kruger and veteran Saudi writer and actor Abdullah Al-Sadhan will also be the honorees. On the first day of the event, Ranveer was in attendance at Jeddah for a conversation followed by which he attended the red carpet on the opening night.

At the event, Ranveer opted for an all-black look for the opening ceremony. Presenting the honour to Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani actor was Sharon Stone who took to the stage and said, “I have had the exciting pleasure of meeting Ranveer Singh before. What a great guy! Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh was honoured at the third edition of the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia. Following his panel in Jeddah and meeting fans, he sat down for a conversation to talk about several topics including him taking on the role of Don in the Farhan Akhtar directorial. The previous versions were headlined by megastars Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan and Ranveer is aware of the scepticism.

Speaking to Deadline, Ranveer Singh said, “I’m hoping to make Don my own and give it my spin, my interpretation. It is the handing over of the baton of one of the most loved and revered franchises of Hindi cinema. The significance of that is not lost on me. When the announcement was made, as expected, it came with its share of scepticism. But throughout the history of cinema, this has happened. Even as recently as perhaps when the Bond franchise changed hands and they announced Daniel Craig as the new Bond, it came with its fair share of scepticism. So, this is only natural.”

The 1978 version of Don was headlined by Amitabh Bachchan in a dual role as Don and Vijay. The film was written by Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar and helmed by Chandra Barot. Farhan Akhtar then directed by Don in 2007 with Shah Rukh Khan in the double role and a sequel in 2011. Talking about the third installment, Ranveer said “Taking the baton forward in this franchise and continuing the legacy of two of our greatest superstars – the significance of that is not lost on me. So, I will give it my best shot and you will see the very best of me and I will put my best foot forward for Don undoubtedly.”

Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar’s T-Series, Murad Khetani’s Cine1 Studios and Pranay Reddy Vanga’s Bhadrakali Pictures have backed Animal. The film is releasing on 1st December 2023. On November 22, on Kartik Aaryan's birthday, the actor announced that he had signed Karan Johar's upcoming film. The announcement also mentioned that the grand flick will release in cinemas on Independence Day 2025. Exactly a week later, on November 29, news came in that Hrithik Roshan-Jr NTR starrer War 2 will also release on Independence Day in 2025.

Interestingly, if this clash takes place, it'll mean that it would be the first time that the films of Aditya Chopra's Yash Raj Films and Karan Johar's Dharma Productions would release on the same day. Both the reputed producers are quite close, as is common knowledge. Karan started his career in films by assisting on Aditya's debut film, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995). Karan Johar, in multiple interviews, has spoken highly of Aditya Chopra and his family. And as expected, they have always ensured that they don't release their films on the same day, presumably to not cut into the business of each other.

In an interview with Mumbai Mirror in February 2014, Karan Johar spoke highly of Aditya Chopra, Yash Chopra and superstar Shah Rukh Khan, “They (Aditya, Yash, SRK) conceived, conceptualized and envisioned this company. Tomorrow if I am asked to wipe the floors of Red Chillies (Shah Rukh Khan’s production house) and Yash Raj, I will do so. And I know if I ever need SRK and Adi, they will be there for me.”

As a result, it'll be interesting to see the clash between War 2 and Kartik Aaryan's untitled next on August 15, 2025, if it does take place, as planned.

August 15, 2025 is obviously a high-in-demand date as a national holiday, Independence Day, falls on that day. Janmashtami, meanwhile, will be celebrated on Saturday, August 16. Usually, no big film releases a week after Independence Day. Hence, the August 15 release will also benefit from the Ganesh Chaturthi holiday on Wednesday, August 27, in the second week.

Karan Johar has always given fans an insight into the lives of their favourite celebrities. The sixth episode of Koffee With Karan Season 8 marked the reunion of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai's leading ladies, Rani Mukerji and Kajol. The film completed 25 years in October 2023, which also stars Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role. This marked their reunion on the Koffee couch after several seasons, almost 16 years.

During the conversation, Kajol revealed she turned down three blockbusters, including Shah Rukh Khan's Dil Toh Pagal Hai, Aamir Khan's 3 Idiots, and Akshay Kumar's Mohra.

When asked Rani Mukerji the same question, Rani Mukerji said that she did not reject the roles but her dates were blocked by the director due to which she couldn’t do Lagaan. Rani said, "So, I did not turn down this role. It was a particular filmmaker who didn't release my dates, and because of this I could not do Lagaan.”

Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda recently made headlines by revealing his upcoming marriage with actress-model Lin Laishram, who hails from Manipur, Northeast India. Now, the actor is married and shared pictures from his traditional Meitei ceremony which was held on November 29, 2023. The wedding festivities took place at Chumthang Shannapung Resort in Imphal.

Upon sharing the photos, Randeep Hooda wrote, "From today, we are One." For the wedding ceremony, Randeep wore a traditional white outfit with a shawl. Lin was dressed in Polloi, a traditional skirt made up of bamboo and thick cloth which was embellished with gems, and shimmer and was made up of velvet material.

As reported by Hindustan Times, Randeep Hooda talked about getting married, "Feels very good. I felt that it was only respectful to come and marry in the bride's tradition. However, I have heard that in Meitei love marriages, the groom has to sit for a very long time. So, that's something but I am looking forward to the ceremony and traditions. I want to experience my life partner's culture. That's why I am here."

Randeep added, "I hope I don't make any mistakes. And we have been talking about their culture, Manipuri culture and all that for a long time. I am looking forward to it and hope that all goes well. I am praying for our happy future and lots of kids and lots of abundance. Yes, it's east meets west. It's like a traditional or cultural exchange. We have been friends for a very long time. We met when we were in the theatres. Since then, we have had a great friendship, which we are now making into a family."

Lin revealed how she met Randeep. She said, "We actually met at Naseeruddin Shah's theatre group called Motley and he was my senior. That's where I met him. We were friends and it's turning into a beautiful journey."

Actors Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Rashmika Mandanna's upcoming film Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, is all set to release this week. With only a few days left for the release of the movie on the big screen, Anil Kapoor, who plays Ranbir’s father, has shared a photo with Bobby.

In one of the throwback pictures from their early days of shoot, both Anil and Bobby are posing shirtless. “Animal Ka Baap and Animal Ka Enemy Posing,” the caption read.

The length of the film, as mentioned on the certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), is 203 minutes. In other words, Animal’s run time is 3 hours and 23 minutes.

Actors Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Rashmika Mandanna's upcoming film Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, is all set to release this week. With only a few days left for the release of the movie on the big screen, it is being reported that Animal is set to release in Bangladesh.

For unversed, Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan paved the way for Hindi films to release in the theatres in Bangladesh. This was followed by SRK’s Jawan and Thalapathy Vijay’s Leo. Now, Ranbir’s Animal has become the fourth Indian movie in history to be released in theatres. It also apparently becomes the second movie after Jawan to be released on the same day as the rest of the world.

In a recent conversation with Variety, Ranbir said, "My character in Animal shares some traits with Sandeep Reddy Vanga's protagonists. He is indeed tough and uncompromising in certain aspects," Ranbir said. "But he is also multi-dimensional and complex, with moments of vulnerability and internal conflict that make him more relatable and human."

"I was really drawn to the script of Animal," he explained. "It's a gripping and intense film that delves into the depths of human emotions and relationships. It explores the complexities of life and the choices we make, with a narrative that keeps you on the edge of your seat."
