The popular chat show Koffee With Karan is back with its seventh season featuring none other than filmmaker Karan Johar as the host. From revealing conversations to rib-tickling banter between the guests the latest season has featured some big names. From Akshay Kumar – Samantha Ruth Prabhu to Sara Ali Khan – Janhvi Kapoor, and to Ranveer Singh – Alia Bhatt, and Ananya Panday – Vijay Deverakonda the show has already wowed the audience. Now the latest episode that features siblings Sonam Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor is set to break the internet again. In fact, going by the teasers of the episode, it seems like Sonam reveals quite a few of Arjun’s secrets. If that was not enough, the actress even spoke about her pregnancy, her fashion style, and her obsession to click photographs.

During the conversation, responding to Karan Johar’s question about what she thinks about the trend these days, of people are trying too hard on the red carpet, and whether fashion photos are getting a bit excessive Sonam revealed how it all started. “The reason Rhea (Kapoor) and I decided to take photos was because we realized when we went to the red carpet, there was so much business behind us. And we were borrowing, most of my clothes are borrowed. 90 percent of my clothes are borrowed. We were like we need to give credit where due. The pure reason is that if somebody is lending me something, I want to make sure the person gets nice photos, the designer gets nice photos and we credit them. But now I don’t know if they are borrowing it or buying it and putting it up.”

Further during the conversation, Karan went on to quiz Sonam about Cannes this year. When asked about what she thought of the Indian representation at the festival Sonam revealed she got a lot of messages because she didn’t go to Cannes this year because of her pregnancy. “I don’t know if I was missed or not. Like I have been trolled for my sartorial choices before in Cannes. So who am I to say that how you’re dressing or who’s dressing what? Maybe people think my taste is bad.”

Were it not for Samrat Prithviraj, former beauty queen Manushi Chillar would have made her debut with Aamir Khan in Laal Singh Chaddha. Whether that would have been a better prospect remains to be seen.

Sources say, Manushi was Aamir’s first choice to play his wife in Laal Singh Chaddha. But Manushi had already signed a contract with Yash Raj Films. At that point of time being launched in a big epic Yash Raj Film seemed like a dream start for any newcomer. Without much ado she declined the offer.

There were apparently quite a number of promising offers for Ms Chillar before Samrat Prithviraj released.

Now after the debacle of Samrat Prithviraj the offers have dwindled considerably. Her only new project is a film titled Tehran with John Abraham being directed by debutant Arun Gopalan.

Not too long ago, reports started floating around about a new web show to be produced by Neeti and Preeti Simoes. Joining them as the protagonist would be Bollywood-South actress Tamannah Bhatia and now it seems that Sunil Grover has joined the show. Interestingly, it is being said that the comedian may play the role of an antagonist.

A source close to the producers confirmed the development adding, “Preeti and Neeti Simoes, who has produced comedy shows in the past, will be making their OTT debuts as producers and they have chosen Hotstar to stream their debut series. Not much has been revealed about the title of the project but the shoot of the same has already begun. The web show is shot in Delhi and the genre of the web series is thriller crime drama. The producers have roped in actress Tamannaah Bhatia for the first time who will be playing a cop and will be seen leading the show on her own shoulders.”

As for Sunil Grover and the role he will be playing in the show, all those details are currently being kept under wraps.

After two consecutive disasters Bachchhan Paandey and Samrat Prithviraj, Akshay Kumar can breathe easy. Raksha Bandhan which opens on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan on August 11, is being seen as a “sure shot hit” by the film trade. Says director Aanand L Rai, “I don’t know how much it will be liked. But I do know that nobody can dislike it. Raksha Bandhan cannot fail to touch the hearts of every Indian. It is the most relatable film I’ve made.”

Anand feels Akshay Kumar was just the right choice to play the doting protective elder brother of four sisters. “He will remind you of Balraj Sahni in Do Raaste. Akshay is more a father-figure to his sisters in Raksha Bandhan than a brother.” Aanand’s film harks back to the classic blockbuster family film from 1969 directed by Raj Khosla in which the eldest son of the family played by Balraj Sahni lived and died for his siblings.

“At a time when we are rapidly losing our family values, Raksha Bandhan will remind us of those family films that told us how important it is to hold on to those ties that make our life meaningful,” says Aanand.

Apple TV+ on Tuesday announced a six-episode series order for Land of Women, the new dramedy inspired by award-winning author Sandra Barneda’s best selling novel of the same name. Created and written by Iris Award winners Ramón Campos and Gema R. Neira, Golden Globe nominee Eva Longoria will star in the leading role as Gala and executive produce via her UnbeliEVAble Entertainment banner. Legendary film and television star Carmen Maura joins the cast as Gala’s mother Julia. The series is currently in pre-production in Spain.

Land of Women is a dramedy starring Eva Longoria as Gala, a New York empty nester whose life is turned upside down when her husband implicates the family in financial improprieties, and she is forced to flee the city alongside her aging mother and college-age daughter. To escape the dangerous criminals to whom Gala’s now vanished husband is indebted, the three women hide in the same charming wine town in Northern Spain that Gala’s mother fled 50 years ago, vowing never to return. The women seek to start anew and hope their identities will remain unknown, but gossip in the small town quickly spreads, unraveling their deepest family secrets and truths.

Land of Women will be directed by Iris Award winner Carlos Sedes. The series is produced for Apple TV+ by Bambu Studios and the groundbreaking show will be shot in both English and Spanish and made available to watch in each language. The series is executive produced by showrunner Ramón Campos, Iris Award winner Teresa Fernández-Valdés, Ben Spector, and Longoria via her award-winning production company UnbeliEVAble Entertainment, founded in 2005 by Longoria to produce film, television, and documentaries.

The team of Raksha Bandhan is on a promotional spree. After Dubai, Pune, Indore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Kokata promotions, team including producer Aanand L Rai, lead actor Akshay Kumar and the cast, arrived in Lucknow. Now, amidst the promotions, Akshay took to social media to praise his co-star Bhumi Pednekar. The actress stars opposite Kumar.

Raksha Bandhan featuring Bhumi Pednekar, Akshay Kumar, Neeraj Sood, Seema Pahwa, Sadia Khateeb, Abhilash Thapliyal, Deepika Khanna, Smrithi Srikanth and Sahejmeen Kaur is all set to release on 11th August 2022.

Kaun Banega Crorepati kicked off season 14 recently in a rather celebratory manner. Readers would be aware that the show is famous for its quizzes but it is also known for the kind of stories that people narrate to the host Amitabh Bachchan about his fandom and the things they have done for the superstar. Similarly, a recent contestant named Professor Dhulichand, who is making news for reaching upto Rs. 75 lakhs with his intelligence, spoke about one such instance which pushed him to boycott Amitabh Bachchan.

When Professor Dhulichand was invited to the hot seat, he shared an experience he had undergone during the release of Muqaddar ka Sikandar. He also added that the superstar owed him a debt of Rs. 10. Recalling the incident, Dhulichand said, “When I was studying in college, I used to survive each month with bare minimum amount. The financial situation back then was not good at home. Despite that, I took Rs.10 to watch your film on its first day. I planned to use it for the ticket, to pay the cycle stand, and to buy tea, snacks as well as return home.”

After waiting in the queue for hours, Dhulichand revealed that when his turn came, the mob situation worsened leading to a stampede and it was so bad that the police had to intervene. In fact, the professor also mentioned that he got lathi charged during the same. Amidst the chaos, Mr. Agarwal fell to the ground and sustained a head injury. It was then that he decided that he would never watch an Amitabh Bachchan movie.

Needless to say, the legendary actor was quite touched by the story. Not only did he return the debt of Rs. 10 as Rs. 20 with interest but also promised Dhulichand that he would watch the movie with him.

Kaun Banega Crorepati airs on Sony TV at 9pm.

 पुण्यातल्या राहुल थिएटरची जन्मकथा..

बारामती तालुक्यात ढाकाळे म्हणून गाव आहे. हे गाव दुष्काळी म्हणून पंचक्रोशीत प्रसिद्ध होते. नीरा कालवा आल्यानंतर ही मंडळी पणदरे, माळेगाव भागात रहायला आली. इथेच स्थायिक झाली. हा पट्टा धनगर वस्तीचा आहे.

चंदू शेठ जगताप हे धनगर होते. ते रोजंदारीवर कामाला होते. पुढे ठेका घ्यायला लागले. त्यातून मोठा व्यवसाय उभारला. पणद-यात त्यांनी भला मोठा वाडा बांधला. त्या काळातले या भागातले सर्वात श्रीमंत प्रस्थ म्हणून ते उदयास आले. दिवाळीला हत्तीवरून साखर वाटली जायची. वस्तीत फराळ वाटायचे. 

त्यांचे सोबती कोकरे वगैरे सुद्धा आर्थिक दृष्ट्या संपन्न झाले. मात्र जगतापांइतके बलाढ्य कुणीच नव्हते. त्यांच्याशी सोयरीक करण्यासाठी वजनदार असामी धडपडत असत. 

त्यांचे अनेक सांगीवांगीचे किस्से प्रसिद्ध आहेत.

पैसे तिजोरीत किंवा बॅंकेत न ठेवता पोत्यात भरून तळघरात पोतं फेकत असत. तळघरात अशी कित्येक पोती होती ज्याची मोजदाद सुद्धा केलेली नव्हती. ( त्या काळी नोटबंदी झाली असती तर ?)

त्यांचा नातू पुण्यात शिकायला होता. त्या वेळच्या हिंदविजय (नंतरचे नटराज) सिनेमाला दिलीपकुमारचा सिनेमा होता. हाऊसफुल्ल शो होता. याने बुकींग क्लर्कला त्या वेळची शंभराची नोट देऊ केली आणि तिकीट द्याच असे म्हणाला. बुकींग क्लर्क पक्का पुणेकर होता. तो म्हणाला " एव्हढा पैसा असेल तर बापाला जाऊन सांग थेटर बांधायला "

त्याने घरी येऊन सांगितले. आज्ज्याने ऐकले. आज्जा म्हणाला "माझ्या नातवाला दीडदमडीचा कारकुंड्या बोलला ? मी अस्सं थिएटर बांधीन की आख्ख्या पुण्यात तसं नसेल"

आज्जा तडक पुण्यात आला. त्या वेळी गणेशखिंड रस्त्याला एका जागेचा लिलाव चालू होता. आज्जाने पाहीलं. पाच हजार पर्यंत रक्कम वाढली होती. त्या वेळी पाच हजार ही खूपच मोठी रक्कम होती. 

आज्जा म्हणजे चंदू शेठ जगताप आपले धनगराच्या वेषात होते. डोक्याला मुंडासं, कोपरी वर घोंगडी, धोतर आणि वहाणा.

हे आपले तिथे जाऊन म्हणाले "पाच लाख "

सगळेच स्तब्ध झाले. गणेशखिंड रस्त्याला पाच लाख बोली कुणी लावण्याच्या मानसिकतेत नव्हते आणि तेव्हढी आवश्यकताही नव्हती.

आयोजक म्हणाले "बाबा पाच लाख म्हणजे किती समजतंय का ? पैसे आहेत का एव्हढे तुमच्या जवळ ?"

आज्जाने पोलीस अधिका-याकडे गाडीची चावी दिली आणि म्हणाला " बाहेर माझी कार उभी आहे. तिच्यात डिकीत आणि मागच्या सीटवर पोती आहेत. घेऊन या. पाच लाख मोजा आणि बाकीचे पोलीसात वाटून टाका "

पोलिसांनी पोती आणली. पोत्यातून नोटा निघायला लागल्यावर सगळे हक्काबक्का झाले. पोत्यात नोटा भरल्याचे दुर्मिळ दृश्य पुणे शहर बघत होते. पाच लाख तर निघालेच. वरचे पन्नास हजार पोलीसात वाटून टाकले गेले. 

आमचे चुलत आज्जे (आजोळचे) त्या बंदोबस्तात होते. त्यांनाही पैसे मिळाले. नेमकी रक्कम ठाऊक नाही आता.

त्या जागेवर आज्जाने सिनेमा हॉल बांधला.

त्याचे नाव राहुल. 

पुढे नातवाने आपल्या आजोबांचा फोटो एण्ट्रन्स लावला होता. त्याच वेषात !

राहुल च्या उद्घाटनाला हिंदविजयच्या बुकींग क्लर्कला सन्मानाने बोलावले गेले. 

त्याच्याच मुळे पुणे शहराला एक आलिशान आणि अत्याधुनिक सिनेमा हॉल मिळाला.

              Republic TV reporter and prime show anchor Vikas Sharma passed away on Thursday night. His demise news has sent shock waves across the media industry.

According to the Republic network, the anchor died due to COVID-19 complications.

Vikas is one of the prime reporters of Republic TV and he appears as prime time anchor at 9 PM on Republic Channel.

Reportedly, he took his breath at around 9 pm, the Republic Bharat report said.

Meanwhile, many personalities from the media industry and R Bharat's audience are offering their condolences to Vikas Sharma’s untimely death.
