National award-winning filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari’s love story, Bawaal was launched at the iconic Queen Elizabeth II in Dubai. The film stars Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor. Though the audience will have to wait for July 21 when the film premieres on Prime Video, the trailer had references to World War II which intrigued and confused the audience.

While talking to Galatta Plus, he talked about why he chose World War II instead of any of the wars India was a part of. He said that it would have been “very easy to incorporate” but he did not. “Rather than him teaching World War 2 in the school, he could have been teaching any of our historical stuff. My biggest thing was there is something fresh which I always crave to bring to my audience, both story-wise as well as visually,” he said.

“There has been such lovely stuff which has already been done and in plenty of numbers by some of our very renowned filmmakers in our country on the historical wars which our country has been a part of. I personally felt that I would not be able to being anything new on screen if I were to do that,” he said.

He added, “We have done Indo-Pak wars and Indo-China war and Kargil and everything, and some very good stuff has been done, I just felt that maybe you know if I were to bring something fresh for the audience, this was a way to go.”

He also said that he removed the Jallianwala Bagh reference from his earlier draft. “In one of the earlier drafts, there was a reference to Jallianwala Bagh which I removed after Sardar Udham came. It no longer remained fresh,” he said.

Prime Video launched the trailer of Bawaal on Sunday. The cast Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, director Nitesh Tiwari and film creators were in Dubai for the grand launch. The actors also sat down with Bollywood Hungama to talk about the film taking the digital route, the importance of OTT platforms and their film.

When asked the team what made them take the digital route for a film like Bawaal which is made on a massive scale, Varun Dhawan said that one can’t make a movie these days without an OTT partner in the current economic rate. He told Bollywood Hungama, “Theatres are not going anywhere. They are here to stay. The collective experience of watching a film and celebrating is still there and we love it. As actors, that’s the biggest joy and high you get. But, in today’s economic climate, you cannot make a film without an OTT partner. Because 70 percent of your capital to make a film is coming from… 70 percent. So you should ask any producer how important the OTT players are for them to make films today. They will tell you how important they are.”

Janhvi Kapoor added, “We can’t ignore that OTT platforms are a big part of the industry now.”

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, and starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, Bawaal is a timeless love story by Sajid Nadiadwala’s production banner Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment in collaboration with Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and Nitesh Tiwari’s Earthsky Pictures. Talking about the upcoming films, Rashmika Mandanna has an interesting lineup of South and Bollywood projects. Besides Animal which has shifted its release date from August to December 1, 2023, the actress has the female centric drama Rainbow along with Pushpa 2: The Rule in the pipeline. Animal is expected to release in South languages. apart from Hindi. As for Pushpa, the actress is expected to reprise the role of Srivalli in the action entertainer co-starring Telugu superstar Allu Arjun.

Applause Entertainment and Nandita Das Initiatives' film Zwigato is directed by Nandita Das. The script she wrote, along with Samir Patil, has been invited to be in the permanent core collection of the Library of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. The screenplay of this thought-provoking film, starring Kapil Sharma and Shahana Goswami, explores the impact of the food app service industry and its effect on the working class.

The actress-turned-director wrote on Twitter, "Was most surprised to receive an email from the Library of the Academy of Motion Picture wanting the script of Zwigato for their Permanent Core Collection. On Sunday, July 9, an article appeared in Dainik Bhaskar that said that Mayank Madhur, BJP leader and Kangana Ranaut’s political advisor and family friend, has decided to move court against the actress and the producers of Tejas. Mayank was quoted in the article stating that he helped in getting permissions for the filming of Kangana's films He further added that he arranged Kangana, her sister and manager Rangoli Chandel, RSVP creative producer Salona Bains Joshi and director Sarvesh Mewara's meeting with the defence minister Rajnath Singh. In return, Kangana and Sarvesh had promised to give him a 15-minute role in Tejas.

Mayank Madhur then revealed that after the meeting with Rajnath Singh, his role was shortened considerably. And when he asked for payment for his services, he was given false promises. Hence, he decided to sue Kangana and the makers of the film.

Bollywood Hungama exclusively spoke to Mayank Madhur and he said, “I was the one who arranged Kangana Ranaut’s meetings with the various chief ministers like Shivraj Singh Chouhan ji, Hemant Biswa ji and also Rajnath Singh ji. I helped with securing permissions for her films like Dhaakad, Tiku Weds Sheru, Tejas, Emergency etc. I also managed her various cases.”

When asked how he knew the National Award-winning actress, Mayank replied, “Kangana and I go back a long way. I met her when she used to do theatre at Asmita. At that time, I was a journalist at Deshbandu. I also worked for Navbharat Times, India Today, News 24 etc.”

Did he ever sign an agreement or contract regarding his role and its length in Tejas? Mayank Madhur answered, “No. These discussions took place in front of Rajnath Singh ji and also before we met the minister at The Leela Hotel in New Delhi. When a friend asks you for help, you don’t sign an agreement. It all works on trust. And she’s like family. My issue is that she made a commitment and she didn’t adhere to it.”

He further said, “For two years, she was trying to get permission to shoot Tejas in certain locations but her efforts were futile. I got it arranged in a day. The meeting with Rajnath Singh ji was supposed to be only for 10 minutes. But it went on for nearly two hours. I told the minister, ‘Apni hi bacchi hai. Please inki help kar dijiye’. I even asked Rajnath ji to give the mahurat clap for Tejas. But he couldn’t make it as he was busy with some work. Then as the film went on floors, Kangana would remind me that my shoot will soon happen but would also tell me ‘Aap Lucknow, Moradabad, Delhi ke shoot ka permission karwa dijiye’. She also asked me to get permission to shoot in Rajasthan and at air force bases. Meanwhile, the length of my role kept getting shorter. Then I was told to come to shoot for a 1 or 2-minute appearance. I made it clear that I am not interested.”

Mayank Madhur has been credited under ‘Special Thanks’ in Tiku Weds Sheru, produced by Kangana Ranaut. Mayank added, “For that film, she had assured me that I’ll be credited as associate producer. That didn’t happen and then she asked me to come on board for Tejas and Emergency. I even asked her why I should do so. After all, my political career is going fine. I asked her what my role in Tejas will be. To which she said that she wants my help in securing permissions. The director of Tejas, Sarvesh Mewara, has cheated me. Kangana had assured me that before the release of the film, she would arrange for my fees. But she’s not talking about it and now putting the ball in the court of the film’s makers. Hence, I decided to go to the court.”

When asked about his plan of action, Mayank Madhur chose not to divulge details, “I’ll not reveal right now when I plan to go to the court, which court I’d be approaching and how exactly will I stop the film’s release. I want to get the makers arrested. I have taken guidance from the former chief justice of India to understand how I can take the matter further. I have even spoken to the chief ministers, PMO, home ministry etc to ensure that arrest warrants can be issued immediately from various states. Everything will be done as per the legalities.”

Will he want to issue an arrest warrant against Kangana Ranaut as well? Mayank Madhur stated, “warrant will be issued against everyone who dealt with me and who cheated me, that is, the director, the producer and the actress etc. It was Kangana who got the director and producer involved.”

Kangana Ranaut’s team reached out to Mayank Madhur after the Dainik Bhaskar story was out. He revealed, “I spoke to her sister Rangoli. She has asked me to hold for a few days so that she can speak to the makers and get this thing sorted. I have agreed to it as Kangana is a friend and like a family member. But if I don’t get justice by then, then I’ll make sure I’ll stop the film’s release.”

Mayank Madhur signed off by talking about his main line of work, “I advise 156 central ministers, MLAs, MLC, and governors about their social media posts and their speeches in the assembly. In fact, I also write poetries and shayaris. I was the one who wrote the legendary quote ‘Aaj mera ghar toota hai, kal tera ghamand tootega’ after Kangana’s house was partly demolished by the Uddhav Thackeray government. She then posted it on her social media handle. I helped her tremendously during that crisis and was her legal advisor for her numerous cases. I even got her Y-security arranged in 24 hours.”

The latest Weekend Ka Vaar at Bigg Boss OTT 2 grabbed the attention for many reasons, especially contestant Cyrus Broacha's “begging” host Salman Khan and Bigg Boss to let him take the voluntary exit. However, neither Salman nor Bigg Boss granted him permission. And now, days after urging everyone, Cyrus has taken an emergency exit from the show. 

As soon as the speculations of his exit from the Salman Khan-hosted show started making rounds on the internet, the makers released a statement confirming the same. It read, “We regret to inform you that Cyrus Broacha had to take an emergency exit from Bigg Boss OTT 2 due to a sudden medical emergency in the family.”

The statement further read, “As per Cyrus and his family’s request, we request you to allow privacy and understanding during this difficult period. Further details regarding the show will be shared in due course.” 

For the unversed, during the Weekend Ka Vaar episode, Cyrus told Salman, “Oh god, I really can’t take it anymore. I am just physically finished sir my body has lost weight. While you are talking I am not even listening after a time. My diabetes had started going back in the wrong direction. I am begging them to just let me out. I am not even contributing anymore, I am just like a dead soul over here now.”

Speaking of the show, it streams live 24*7 on JioCinema. The reality show has been extended by 2 weeks, and the finale will be taking place on August 13.

The highly anticipated prevue of Shah Rukh Khan's mega film, Jawan has taken the internet by storm. The Atlee directorial promises to be a high-octane action thriller that outlines the emotional journey of a man who is set to rectify the wrongs in society. The film also stars Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi along with a special appearance of Deepika Padukone. Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan is ready to kick off his next project. After returning from Serbia following the completion of the international schedule of Citadel India, the actor is currently engrossed in the promotions of his movie, Bawaal. However, he will begin his shoot for his next project with Atlee Kumar on July 16, 2023, in Mumbai. The anticipated film promises to be an adrenaline-pumping action spectacle that will captivate audiences worldwide.

Now, as per a report in a publication, the actor will be kicking off the shoot next week in Mumbai. Producer Atlee Kumar will be present on the set for the shoot. Penned and helmed by filmmaker Kalees, the movie is set to be a high-octane rollercoaster ride filled with thrilling moments and larger-than-life action sequences. The project will be jointly produced by Murad Khetani and Priya Atlee.

While other details of the upcoming action entertainer are yet to be disclosed, #VD18 is scheduled to hit theatres worldwide on May 31, 2024.

On the work front, Varun Dhawan will star in Bawaal which is releasing on Prime Video on July 21. Helmed by Nitesh Tiwari, it stars Janhvi Kapoor.

A day ago, Prime Video launched the music video for the heartwarming song ‘Tumhe Kitna Pyaar Karte’ from Nitesh Tiwari and Sajid Nadiadwala’s Bawaal starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor. Composed by Mithoon, with lyrics by Manoj Muntashir, in the soulful voice of Arijit Singh, ‘Tumhe Kitna Pyaar Karte’ is all set to top charts. The actors recreated the loved-up moments in Dubai.

After releasing the trailer at the global premiere at Queen Elizabeth II in Dubai,  the duo recreated the romantic moments on a yacht. Varun Dhawan was dressed in white pants and a beige t-shirt whereas the actress wore a green saree with a halter-neck blue blouse. Janhvi shared the video and wrote, “Kitna Pyaar Karte.”

Over the last few days, Farhan Akhtar's Jee Le Zara is among the most spoken-about films on social media due to the change in cast. Bollywood Hungama was the first to report that Priyanka Chopra has walked out of the film giving priority to her Hollywood Project, Citadel 2, leaving the makers in a situation of confusion at the last minute, yet again after Bharat. Soon after, there were media reports that Farhan Akhtar had approached Anushka Sharma to step into Priyanka Chopra's shoes in the film.

And now, Bollywood Hungama has exclusively learnt that Anushka Sharma has refused to feature in the film citing date issues. "Anushka was excited about the idea of a female-led journey of self-discovery, but the shooting timelines were not matching with her calendar. She has to balance her personal life with her profession and allotting the number of days that Farhan asked for was not possible. There are a lot of combination dates with Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt, but it was not in line with her schedule," a source told Bollywood Hungama.

With the casting struggling to fall in place, Farhan Akhtar has put Jee Le Zara on complete hold at this point in time. He will first act in the Aamir Khan Production – Champion - and then direct Ranveer Singh in Don 3. The gangster film was expected to be announced on July 6, but the same was then delayed to avoid a clash with Prabhas' Salaar teaser launch.

All the ambitious plans around Jee Le Zara stand void at the moment.

The cast Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor and the creators of the film were in the capital city of the most famous emirate to commence the international publicity for the timeless love story. At the trailer launch, Tiwari said that the movie is a layered piece emotionally.

At the global press conference held in Dubai, Nitesh Tiwari said, “This film is very special probably because there is a lot of personal stuff involved in it. This is the story which needs to be told. It is all about the way we look at life, the way we look at people. “There are certain life experiences which change us. It is (about) coming-of-age and a layered piece emotionally.”

The month of July is going to be an exciting one for Hollywood fans. The much-awaited Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning - Part One, starring Tom Cruise, will have a grand release on Wednesday, July 12. On July 21, there’ll be a clash between Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer and Barbie. The bookings of both Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning - Part One and Oppenheimer commenced on July 1 and has got an encouraging response.

However, the ticket sales for Oppenheimer have surpassed expectations. An exhibition source said, “We all knew that a section of moviegoers is excited to see Oppenheimer. But no one imagined that tickets would start selling like hot cakes, that too, more than two weeks before release.”

The source further said, “There is a heavy demand to see Oppenheimer in the IMAX screens. Since most shows are almost sold out, the exhibitors had no choice but to play shows at 3 AM as well.”

The source continued, “As of now, PVR Lower Parel and Inox Malad in Mumbai have started the bookings for shows at 3:30 AM and 3:45 AM respectively. The other IMAX theatres in the city will soon follow suit and so will IMAX screens in other parts of the country.”

Another exhibition source said, “There are also plans to have midnight shows, that it, at 12:00 AM. Not just IMAX, normal screens might also play midnight and post-midnight shows as per the demand. After all, those who are interested to see Oppenheimer are not going to wait to see the film on OTT and on their phones. This is a film meant for the big screen and hence, exhibitors expect the film to have a healthy lifetime, more so after the response to the bookings in IMAX theatres.”

An industry insider commented, “What’s fascinating is that when it comes to Hollywood films, until now, only the family-friendly Marvel superhero films and Avatar: The Way Of Water have had 12 AM and 3 AM/4 AM/5 AM shows. Oppenheimer doesn’t belong to any franchise or cinematic universe. It’s also an adult-rated flick. Yet, the demand is such. It shows the craze for Christopher Nolan among a section of the audience. The curiosity to see on the big screen the much-hyped atomic explosion scene, which is claimed to have been shot without CGI, has also played a big part. It has enhanced the hype manifold.”

As per reports, Oppenheimer has sold 14,000 tickets in the three national chains on the opening day, that too, in just IMAX.

Heart Of Stone, the much-awaited spy action thriller, is scheduled to have a worldwide debut on Netflix in the near future. The film stars renowned Hollywood actress Gal Gadot and the official trailer and release date were unveiled at the esteemed Tudum Festival 2023 in Brazil. The event was graced by Gadot and her co-stars Jamie Dornan and Alia Bhatt, making her Hollywood debut with this project.

Alia Bhatt, on Friday, shared a brief video on her Instagram account, from the Tudum event held in Brazil the previous month. The clip featured Alia and Gal Gadot joining their hands to create a heart shape, which was then playfully broken by Jamie Dornan with his knuckles. Adipurush, which released with much fanfare, was expected to be a treat for audiences who were excited to relive the epic saga of Ramayana on the big screen. However, they were left disappointed with netizens heavily trolling the film for its content and especially its dialogues. Followed by the uproar, now, dialogue writer of the film Manoj Muntashir has taken to social media to accept his mistake and has penned an emotional note, extending his heartfelt apologies to the audiences.

In his recent Twitter post, Manoj Muntashir posted two notes, one in Hindi and one in English where he apologized to the audiences for the dialogues he had written in Adipurush. I accept people’s emotions have been hurt by Adipurush. With folded hands, I extend my unconditional apologies. May Prabhu Bajrang Bali keep us united and grant us strength to serve our sacred Sanatan and our great nation,” he said in his note. The dialogues of the film were heavily criticized by social media users for being too ‘cheap’, especially a few lines that were said by Devdatta Nage, who played the character of Bajrang in the film.

Adipurush is expected to be a retelling of the epic war of Ramayana which Ram fought with Raavan to bring help his wife Sita escape the clutches of the over-ambitious Lanka King. The film featured Prabhas in the role of Raghav, Kriti Sanon in the role of Janaki, Saif Ali Khan as Lankeshwar, Sunny Singh as Laxmanan, along with Siddharth Karnick, Vatsal Sheth, among others playing pivotal roles.

We are living in an era of smartphones and social media. It doesn’t take much time now for a common man to click pictures of celebrities on their phone. If the celebrity happens to snap at people or journalists and seems to be in a lovey-dovey mode at that moment, the snaps can go viral in no time. Two decades ago, this wasn’t common. Yet, Shahid Kapoor found himself in an uncomfortable situation in 2004.

Shahid Kapoor had a long and detailed conversation with Mid-Day’s editor Mayank Shekhar. Mayank revealed that in 2004, young teenagers clicked pictures of Shahid Kapoor kissing his then-girlfriend at a Juhu nightclub, Rain. The blurry images were clicked on a digital camera and the youngsters sold it to Mid-Day for Rs. 500. Although the story doesn’t mention who Shahid’s girlfriend was, it is said to be Kareena Kapoor Khan.

When asked how Shahid Kapoor felt when these pictures were out, he admitted, “I was destroyed at the time. I was just 24 years old, a kid. I felt my privacy had been invaded, and I could do nothing to protect it. I was a mess. At that age, especially—because you don’t even know your own feelings. You are figuring out how to be with a girl you are dating. And in the middle of all that, this happens.”

He also said that in today’s times, with almost everyone carrying a smartphone and paparazzi culture on the rise, something of this sort is expected, He added, “At that time, we were caught off guard by it.”

Shahid Kapoor continued, “Also, ab toh meri shaadi ho gayi hai, bacche ho gaye hain. Nobody is interested in those things about me. They have other 24-year-olds to focus on.”

As per an article in The Telegraph in December 2004, a controversy erupted when Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s pictures appeared in Mid-Day. Kartik Aaryan, who is riding high on the success of Satyaprem Ki Katha, has made yet another major investment in the city. The actor, who currently resides in the plush area of Juhu in suburban Mumbai, has purchased another property in the same building where his family owns an apartment and that too, in a premium rate. If reports are to be believed, the deal for Rs. 17.50 crores was sealed on June 30.

Reports have it that Kartik Aaryan has purchased a lavish apartment of 1536 sq.ft. in the second floor of Siddhi Vinayak Society in Juhu. If these reports are to be believed, it was purchased in the premium rate of Rs. 17.50 crores even though the actual value was touted to be Rs. 7.49 crores. The rate of the apartment was bought at Rs. 1.09 lacs per sq.ft., which is considered to be one of the expensive deals in the locality. Interestingly, Aaryan’s family also co-owns another apartment in the same society, located at N S Road No. 7 in Juhu Scheme. The apartment is on the eighth floor whereas his latest purchase is six floors lower.

As per IndexTap.com, it is being said that Kartik Aaryan has paid a stamp duty of Rs. 1.05 crores for the apartment while purchasing it from Jayesh and Ketaki Doshi. Along with the flat, the actor is also expected to have purchased two parking slots in the society. Reports also suggest that the actor has given his mother Dr. Mala Tiwari the Power of Attorney to manage the needs of the flat.

Shahid Kapoor recently completed 20 years in the industry and is showing no signs of slowing down. This year was also significant as his debut web series, Farzi, was released and got massive acclaim. At the very onset, Shahid Kapoor spoke about his childhood and growing up in Delhi with his mother Neelima Azeem after she separated from Pankaj Kapur. He revealed that once in a while, his father would come to the National Capital and take him out.

Shahid Kapoor then narrated a funny anecdote. He said that when he was 6 or 7 years old when Pankaj treated him at Delhi’s popular restaurant, Nirula’s. Suddenly, Pankaj Kapur was mobbed by around a hundred people. Shahid revealed, “We were suddenly surrounded by a hundred people, who picked up gajar, and were charging at us on our restaurant table—almost like zombies, going, ‘Hehehe…. Gajar khaiye, gajar, hehehe…’.”

Pankaj Kapur declined and retorted, “Par mein bete ke saath pizza kha raha hoon.” However, they kept insisting that he have the carrot, just like his iconic character in the TV show ‘Karamchand’ that used to air in the 1980s on Doordarshan.

With no other option, both Shahid Kapoor and Pankaj Kapur had to rush out of Nirula’s. The young actor then told his father not to take him out again. He added, “By virtue of distance, the interaction between him and me was anyway limited.”

However, as he grew up and entered the same profession as Pankaj, both got closer. Shahid Kapoor also confessed that it was his father who suggested the title Jab We Met for his 2007 classic love story. Shahid also acted in the lead in Pankaj Kapur’s directorial, Mausam (2011).

Actress Ameesha Patel, who will be seen in the sequel to her 2001 blockbuster Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, recently spoke about the film and its legacy. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Ameesha not only expressed her excitement but also gave an insight into the making of the film.

Ameesha Patel shared the journey of the long-awaited film Gadar 2, comparing it to the beloved Titanic, emphasizing the audience's desire to see the same characters and actors. The talks for the sequel had been ongoing for a couple of years, with continuous efforts to find a suitable story. In 2018, Ameesha and Sunny Deol discussed the possibility of Gadar 2 at the Delhi airport, and while progress was made, there was a lapse in communication.

Eventually, in 2019, it was confirmed that Gadar 2 would start filming in March 2020. However, the outbreak of COVID-19 disrupted the plans, and the project was put on hold amidst the uncertainties and challenges faced by the film industry. Despite the setbacks, Ameesha expressed gratitude that the film is finally reaching the point of release, bringing joy to the cast and fans alike.

She late added that finally the makers made an official announcement and now, after waiting for two months, Gadar 2 is set to see the light of day in cinemas.

Directed by Anil Sharma, Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel starrer will be released on August 11. The film will also feature Utkarsh Sharma (who also played their son two decades ago) as Jeete. The film is expected to be set in the 70s India, twenty years after Tara Singh and Sakeena reunited in the 2001 film.

She essays a pivotal role in the series whose trailer was dropped on Thursday. Kohrra is an exploration of human nature, depicting the darkness within, where the search for justice becomes intertwined with the politics of interpersonal relationships. Brought to life by a critically acclaimed cast including Suvinder Vicky, Barun Sobti, Varun Badola, Harleen Sethi, Rachel Shelly, and Manish Chaudhary and helmed by Sudip Sharma, Randeep Jha, and Clean Slate Filmz Productions, the series promises an authentic narrative that goes beyond the age-old police investigation-led storylines.

Talking about getting Shelley onboard for the series, director Sudip Sharma told Indian Express, “The casting of Rachel came from a bit of practicality. I knew I wanted an actor from the UK for the part and didn’t want to hire a ‘white actor working in Mumbai’ just because it makes things easy.”

He added, “Shooting a web series is tough, we don’t have the kind of budgets that are there for films and a professional white actor, who has done good work over there, they would find it very tough to shoot here, the chaos that’s here. So, part of the reason to hire her was because she had done Lagaan, she knew what madness could be like. Apart from that, she is also a great actor and I had seen a bunch of her other work in the West. So, it was almost like a jigsaw puzzle when you are doing your casting. So much of it is gut and then of course your casting director (Nikita Grover), who will keep pushing the boundary.”

She has in fact also acted in Kohrra. She understands the world we are trying to create, and it is always about going out there and finding those actors. She spent a good amount of time in Punjab, going to these pinds and kasbas to find these very real actors from there. Ketan Mehta exclusively spoke to Bollywood Hungama as his acclaimed film Maya Memsaab (1992) completed 30 years on July 2. Starring Deepa Sahi, Shah Rukh Khan, Farooq Sheikh and Raj Babbar, one of the first things that one notices when one watches Maya Memsaab is that it is an Indo-UK-France co-production. Many such projects are made nowadays but back then, this was rare.

When asked about it, Ketan Mehta replied, “Maya Memsaab would be truly one of the first international co-productions from India. It was co-produced by UK’s Channel Four Television Co Ltd and Video Cinema 13 Production, France. Maya Memsaab is based on the French classic novel ‘Madame Bovary’ by Gustave Flaubert. The film started with a bank loan from NFDC (National Film Development Corporation of India). To catch the last of the snow, we rushed to Himachal Pradesh to shoot a sequence. We got caught in a snowstorm and it disrupted our shoot. As a result, funds fell short. In order to complete it, we rushed to the UK to explore the opportunities of co-production. Because of the script and the material that we had already shot, we managed to bag a co-production from Channel Four. Then we headed to France and met this person who had worked on a film with Mira Nair earlier (Salaam Bombay; 1988). He also loved the project. Sometimes, miracles happen and this is how this co-production came about (smiles).”

When prodded about what was the budget of the film, Ketan Mehta said, “I don’t even remember. It must be Rs. 20-25 lakhs.”

And how much was Shah Rukh Khan paid, considering that this was the first film for which he shot? He stated, “Again, I don’t recall. But it must be in thousands (smiles).”

Ameesha praised Sunny Deol as a "super classy gentleman in every way" and acknowledged him as the real-life Tara for Sakina, referencing their iconic characters from the original Gadar: Ek Prem Katha film.

Actress Mandira Bedi took to social media to share her frustrating experience at Mumbai's Terminal 2 airport, where she claimed to have lost her luggage while travelling with her children. However, Mumbai's International Airport has refuted her claims, stating that there have been no reported issues with the display systems or baggage handling during the specified timeframe.

In an Instagram story posted on Wednesday, Mandira Bedi expressed her disappointment and labelled the situation as a "nightmare." She mentioned the lack of flight information displayed on the screens and conveyor belts, leading to confusion and chaos among the passengers. Mandira further described her own ordeal, stating that she had to search through multiple conveyor belts before finding one of her suitcases unattended. She criticised the situation, describing it as an unwelcoming experience after her travels.

Contrary to Mandira Bedi's account, a report by the Free Press Journal highlighted the response from Mumbai's International Airport authorities. According to their statement, there have been no issues reported with the Flight Information Display Systems (FIDs) or the baggage handling systems at Terminal 2 in the past three days. The airport authorities emphasised that the FIDs are constantly monitored, and there have been no breakdowns or downtimes reported by their teams or the airlines.

The airport sources also noted that no official complaints were received regarding the display systems or baggage handling on the ground or online. They pointed out that if there were issues with the FIDs, other passengers would have faced the same problem. Additionally, the sources mentioned that Mandira Bedi only utilised her Instagram story to voice her concerns, without specifically tagging the airport or the airline involved, making it difficult for them to investigate the matter thoroughly.
