Amidst several speculations about his forthcoming venture, Aamir Khan is in no hurry to announce his next project. The superstar, who has taken a break from acting since 2022, seems to be making the best of his time as he has been seen attending several functions, from personal to popular Bollywood events. Now, he has taken some time off alone to spend in a peaceful environment and has taken off to Nepal.

A photo of Aamir Khan visiting Nepal has found its way on social media. As per recent reports, the actor is currently in the country for a 10-day meditation program but further details are not revealed. As per a statement given to PTI by an Immigration Officer, “Aamir Khan arrived in Kathmandu Sunday morning on board Vistara Airlines.” Staff of the meditation centre confirmed Aamir’s arrival adding, “Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has joined the ten-day vipassana program which started from Sunday.” From what we hear, the actor is attending the program in Vipassana Meditation Centre in Budhanilkantha, which is about 12 kilometers away from the capital city of Kathmandu.

For the unversed, Aamir Khan was last seen in the film Laal Singh Chaddha, which released on the big screens on August 11, 2022. The film was the official remake of the Oscar winning American drama Forrest Gump (1994) starring Tom Hanks. As for Laal Singh Chaddha, the film featured Kareena Kapoor Khan as the leading lady along with Naga Chaitanya making his Hindi debut and Mona Singh playing a pivotal role. The film, which was produced by Aamir Khan Productions in association with Paramount Pictures and Viacom 18, failed to do good business at the box office, after which, Khan announced that he would be taking a break from acting.

Kriti Sanon is definitely on a roll in the industry currently! The actress is shooting nights for her upcoming film The Crew with Kareena Kapoor Khan and Tabu, Rajesh Krishnan and jointly produced by Rhea Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor. Being very close to her fans, Kriti took to her Instagram stories to share an update about the film, wrapping up late at night!

The actress looked adorable in a black colour tee as she is seen falling on the bed, showing very tired and done for the day. For the unversed, The Crew was announced last year in November. Earlier, in a statement, Kriti had said, “I always look forward to strong characters and unique stories and The Crew is one of them. I am very thrilled to work with two powerhouses of talent, Tabu ma’am and Kareena! I’ve always admired and looked up to them and their work. I’ve met Tabu ma’am on a few occasions and she has always been extremely warm. Bebo is simply iconic, I’ve been a fan girl!”

Coming to the professional front, the 32-year-old actress was last seen in Shehzada. Directed by Rohit Dhawan and starring Kartik Aaryan, the flick was a Hindi remake of Allu Arjun’s Ala Vaikuntapuramlo. Besides The Crew, Kriti is also gearing up for her next release Adipurush, slated to hit theatres on June 16. The star cast of the Om Raut directorial also includes Prabhas and Saif Ali Khan.

Pankaj Tripathi won millions of hearts as he revealed his first look as Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji for the biopic, Main ATAL Hoon. Recently, the actor shared another update on his social media hinting at the shoot commencement of the film. 

Today, the makers officially announced the filming of Main ATAL Hoon. The movie will revolve around the life and political career of India’s beloved leader, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee who was not only a politician but also a poet, a gentleman and a statesman. Commencing the shoot in Mumbai, the team will have a long schedule of more than 45 days covering different parts of our country like Mumbai and Lucknow. 

‘‘Getting a chance to play the role of our great leader, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee was an honour in itself. We went through rigorous reading sessions, to understand the dialect, his lifestyle and his vision for India. I feel elated today as we begin shooting for Main ATAL Hoon,” shares actor Pankaj Tripathi.

Director Ravi Jadhav added, “I have seen Pankaj ji being super involved in the process of knowing and understanding Atal ji. I am sure no one else would have been a better fit than Pankaj Ji to essay such a proficient personality. Main ATAL Hoon presented by Bhanushali Studios Limited and Legend Studios, is produced by Vinod Bhanushali, Sandeep Singh, Sam Khan & Kamlesh Bhanushali and co-produced by Bhavesh Bhanushali, Ishaan Dutta, Zeeshan Ahmad and Shivv Sharma. The film will hit the theatres in December 2023.

King Charles III and Queen Camilla were formally crowned on Saturday in a historic ceremony at London's Westminster Abbey. It was such a breath-taking sight to see the coronation steeped in centuries of tradition but with a few small tweaks for the modern age. Around 2,000 invited guests witnessed the ceremony, and it was truly a sight to behold. However, the ceremony also drew attention to Meghan Markle's absence, who is the daughter-in-law of King Charles. While the speculations are made, former actress and author Twinkle Khanna aka Mrs Funnybones made a joke out of it.  

On Saturday, Twinkle took to her verified Instagram handle and shared a video reacting to the absence of Meghan Markle at the event. In the video clip, Twinkle can be seen seated in a vehicle, sporting a mask that resembled Meghan Markle's face along with a United Kingdom flag. Alongside her was another person who wore a mask resembling Prince Harry.  

Meanwhile, a voiceover asserted, “Oh look there's Harry, and in case you were wondering, Meghan is here for the coronation. A day ago, Shah Rukh Khan announced the postponement of his next film, Jawan. The actor is starring alongside Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara in the Atlee Kumar directorial. While the film was supposed to release on June 2, it will now release on September 7, 2023.

On May 6, 2023, Shah Rukh Khan announced that Jawan will move from June 2 to September 7 due to heavy VFX work. For the same, he also hosted his famous #AskSRK session where he gave insights about the movie. Talking about Vijay Sethupathi, he shared, “He is such a humble person and a brilliant actor. On the work front, Shah Rukh Khan was last seen in Pathaan. The film’s collections crossed Rs. 1000 crore at the worldwide box office. It released in theatres on January 25, 2023. The film starred Deepika Padukone and John Abraham while it was directed by Siddharth Anand. Apart from Jawan, SRK also has Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki. The film is backed by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment. It will release on the big screen on December 22, 2023. The film also stars Taapsee Pannu in the lead role along with Satish Shah and Boman Irani.

It's been 29 years since Yeh Dillagi released in theatres. Reminiscing those beautiful days of the shoot, Kajol penned a heartfelt note on Twitter on Saturday. The actress revealed how Akshay Kumar would boast about his cooking skills. She also said choreographer Saroj Khan wanted to kill Saif Ali Khan and her for cracking up during the song shoot.

In the caption, Kajol wrote, “So much fun on this set.. and all the small memories. Akshay boasting about his cooking skills and finally making us a simple but amazing dal. Having to walk nearly 1.5 km uphill in the dark in the snow because the car got spoilt at the bottom of the hill and our hotel was at the top and no cellphones!”

She added, “Riding a horse in an itsy bitsy skirt and thinking my hat would at least cover my face!!! Saif and me laughing our heads off when we were shooting Hoton Pe Bas and Saroj ji wanting to shoot us instead of the film. Reemaji playing my mother for the first time and sitting and playing cards with her on set. Yeh Dillagi is a 1994 film starring Akshay Kumar, Kajol, and Saif Ali Khan in the lead roles.

Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan’s next film has been in the news since last year. An image of both the actors was also leaked on the internet in last November. The film is the next directorial for Laxman Utekar after the highly acclaimed Mimi, which starred Kriti Sanon in the lead. It is now learnt that Vicky and Sara’s film is titled Luka Chuppi 2. It is the second film in the franchise after the first one starring Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon.

As per the latest update officially shared by the makers, the film will be released on June 2 this year and they will officially release the title on May 16, which is Vicky Kaushal’s birthday.

There were reports last year about Vicky and Sara playing a married couple in the film, although nothing has been revealed officially by the makers. The makers also haven’t revealed whether the film will be released in theatres or directly on OTT. Bollywood Hungama had reported in last September that the film will be released directly on Netflix and that the makers have sold the film to the streaming giant for Rs. 70 crores. This will be Utekar’s second release on Netflix in a row after Mimi.

A source had revealed us back then, “The revenue from the satellite will be over and above this sum of Rs. 70 crores. Laxman Utekar’s last film, Mimi had done wonders for Netflix and even this one is appreciated by those who have seen it. It’s the power of director, content, and producer credibility that has resulted in the film fetching this humongous deal. Dinesh has respected the OTT space by supplying credible content through the lockdown too.”

Ranbir Kapoor is known for his beloved romantic comedies and one of the most popular and loved one is Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani starring Deepika Padukone. In a recent fun chat with his fans on a zoom call, Ranbir Kapoor said that he believes that YJHD “would make a good sequel.”

When a fan asked if there's a film apart from Brahmastra, he “would want to do a sequel of”, he chose the Ayan Mukerji romance drama. Ranbir said, “I think Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani would make a good sequel.”

He even revealed that Ayan has a nice story for the sequel but he eventually got busy with Brahmastra franchise. “Ayan also had a very nice story, I remember, but then he went into this Brahmastra journey. But never say never. He might make it after a couple of years,” he said. He added, “I think the story will be 10 years forward where Bunny, Naina, Avi and Aditi, where they are in their lives. I think it’ll be quite interesting and nice to explore those characters.”

Back in 2018, in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, the actor had said that YJHD sequel could be made between Brahmastra Part 1 and Part 2.  “Ayan is on the journey to make Brahmastra, which is very time-consuming. But we have often spoken about Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani 2. He also has an idea for it and he seldom says we should have just done that it would be an easier film. More easier than Brahmastra, because he is going quite crazy, making this film. You never know. Maybe between Brahmastra Part 1 and 2, we get a window of 6 months,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor was last seen Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar. He will be next seen in Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal, releasing in August 2023. On the other hand, the second part of Brahmastra is now scheduled to release in December 2026 and the third part will be released in December 2027.

In September 2020, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) issued a notice to actress Kangana Ranaut, alleging that she had carried out unauthorised construction at her office-cum-residential property in Pali Hill, Bandra. Kangana, who has been vocal about her political views on social media, claimed that the notice was politically motivated and that the BMC was trying to intimidate her. Post the incident, Kangana had demanded compensation of Rs 2 crore from the BMC, citing that the demolition of her bungalow was carried out illegally.

Speaking of the same recently, the Queen actress stated that she no longer wants compensation. In a conversation with ABP News, the actress asserted, “I have not got any compensation till now, they were supposed to send evaluators. So, I met Shinde ji (current Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Sambhaji Shinde), and said, ‘Aap hi log mujhe kuch evaluation bhej dijiye (Please send some evaluators)’. I do not want anybody who has abused the money of the taxpayers… I do not want any more compensation, it’s fine.”

The Tanu Weds Manu actress further added, “The court has said they are supposed to pay me whatever compensation, but like I said, they never sent evaluators and I did not demand, because I know it’s tax payers’ money and I don’t want any of it.”

For the unversed, on September 9, 2020, the BMC officials arrived at Kangana's office and began demolishing the illegal structures, the same day that Kangana arrived in Mumbai from Himachal Pradesh. After the demolition, Kangana sought legal action and obtained a stay order on the demolition drive from the Bombay High Court along with a compensation of Rs 2 crores.

Despite a poor performance at the box office, the 2019 Hindi film Sonchiriya has been praised for its powerful storytelling and standout performances. The film stars Sushant Singh Rajput, Bhumi Pednekar, Manoj Bajpayee, Ranvir Shorey, and Ashutosh Rana, all delivering exceptional performances in their roles. Recently, Bhumi shared her thoughts on the film and what were her expectations. Bhumi also stated that the commercial failure of the film “broke” her heart.

During a recent conversation with Rajeev Masand, Bhumi revealed that she is strategic in her choices and seeks to diversify her career by selecting films that fulfil her creative desires while also having commercial appeal. She cited her decision to star in Sonchiriya as an example of this approach, as the film satisfied both criteria. Unfortunately, despite her efforts, the movie failed to attract audiences and was removed from cinemas after only a week.

The young actress asserted, “When I did Sonchiriya, it was off the theatres in six days. It was maybe my first heartbreak because every film of mine was a blockbuster before that. The four films (Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Lust Stories) I did before that, did incredible numbers and travelled really well. I am on an all-time high, and then came Sonchiriya, a film I was so attached to because I gave that film eight months of my life.”

Bhumi expressed her belief that the Sushant Singh Rajput starrer had all the necessary elements to become a major success. However, the film was taken down from theatres after only six days, which “really broke her heart”.

It seems like actor Sunny Deol’s son Karan Deol is all set to tie the knot. The Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas star is reportedly getting married to his ladylove in June. As per reports, she hails from Dubai and is not from the film fraternity.

As per the reports, Karan Deol got engaged to his partner in an intimate ceremony on the occasion of the marriage anniversary of his grandparents, Dharmendra and Prakash Kaur.

Karan Deol became the third generation actor in the family and made his debut in 2019 with Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas. He was cast opposite debutante Sahher Bambba. The film was directed by his father Sunny Deol.

Following his debut, which failed to work at the box office, Karan Deol starred in the 2021 movie Velle. He worked opposite his uncle, Abhay Deol. The movie starred Mouni Roy and Anya Singh. It was produced by Ajay Devgn and directed by debutante Deven Munjal.

On the work front, Karan will next be seen in Anil Sharma’s Apne 2. He is the additional cast member along with the stars from the first film of the franchise – Dharmendra, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. Kartik Aaryan has gone through some of the hardest times of his life when his mother was diagnosed with cancer. Both his mother and Kartik kept their faith high which resulted in her recovery. The actor's mother is now a cancer warrior.

Taking to social media, the actor recalled the diagnosis and shared a picture of his mother. He wrote, “Some time ago during this month the Big C - 'Cancer' sneakily crept in and tried to rattle the lives of our family! We were frazzled and helpless beyond despair! But thanks to the willpower, resilience and never give up attitude of this fierce soldier - My Mom, we turned to the Bigger C- 'Courage' and marched with all our might and won the dark but destined to win war! Every single investigative reporter is on the lookout for updates on Jawan as Shah Rukh Khan fans on social media have been constantly on the lookout for the new date update. The team on Friday morning had locked August 25 as the release date and was set to announce it on Friday evening. But it seems that Shah Rukh Khan has devised an altogether new plan now.

The latest source informs us that Jawan has been delayed further and will now be a mid-September release. According to our source, Shah Rukh Khan has informed Atlee about his decision to bring the film in September 2023, to get a clear run till the release of Salaar.

The change of date was decided on Friday evening in order to maintain a proper gap between Jawan and Animal. "Shah Rukh Khan wants to come in a clear window and not be one of the many in the crowd. He is a lion by heart and wants things to be in his focus. He believes September will do justice to the release of Jawan," the source informed Bollywood Hungama.

Jawan is directed by Atlee and stars Shah Rukh Khan with Nayanthara, and Vijay Sethupati.

Sharing his thoughts on the release, OAFF says, “The song is about two people coming together. There is a line in there that is ‘Thoda thoda sa main hu, thoda thoda sa tu bhi hain’ which captures the spirit of the collaboration. It really was a coming together of two different artists and creating something new. I was often pleasantly surprised during the making of the song about how in sync Armaan and I were, even though we had never met before.”

Now that Sooraj Pancholi is finally a free man, where does he go from here? Would the film industry come forward to finally give Sooraj the break he deserves? Veteran actor Dalip Tahhil is known to be the only actor to play India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru thrice in, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013), Samvidhan (TV series, 2013) and the Marathi movie Bhaai: Vyati Kee Valli (2019). He is now all set to add another feather to his cap by playing another prominent politician, this time of another country. Tahhil will be playing the former Pakistani President Zulfiqar Bhutto in IB 71.

As per the makers, “Tahhil spent months researching Bhutto's life, mannerisms, and speech patterns to ensure that his portrayal of the character was authentic and nuanced. Tahhil’s casting has also brought to the fore the cultural and historical ties that bind the Sindhi communities on either side of the India-Pakistan border. Tahhil had with himself the opportunity to play such an important character and showcase the cultural similarities between the two countries.”

Directed by Sankalp Reddy, IB 71 is an espionage action-drama centring around the 1971 war between India and Pakistan. The film stars Vidyut Jammwal, Anupam Kher and Vishal Jethwa. This is also the first film for Vidyut as a producer.

Sharing his experience of playing Bhutto, Tahhil said in a statement, “Playing the role of Zulfiqar Bhutto was a challenge that I couldn’t resist. I needed to bring a sense of authenticity and nuance to the character. I spent months researching Bhutto’s life, his mannerisms, and his speech patterns. I hope that my portrayal of the character does justice to his legacy and brings to the fore the cultural similarities that exist between our two countries.”

IB 71 is all set to release in theatres on May 12.

The Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Jawan has been in the news for more than a week, due to its unconfirmed release status. Since June 2022, it has been scheduled to release in cinemas on June 2, 2023. However, there has been speculation that it will be pushed. Some days ago, reports claimed that it will now arrive in cinemas on June 29, to take advantage of the Bakri Eid holiday.

Yesterday, it was reported that Jawan, in all probability, will release in August, either on August 11 or August 25. Interestingly, two major films are scheduled already on the 11th – the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Animal and Sunny Deol-starrer Gadar 2. Hence, it led to another round of speculations among fans that one of the two films might move or both will make way for Jawan.

Bollywood Hungama has learnt that there is no change in the release dates of both Animal as well as Gadar 2. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “August 11 is a plum date as Independence Day falls on Tuesday, August 15 this year. Both the films had booked the slot a long time back and don’t want to lose out on it.”

An industry insider commented, “August 25 is being considered by Jawan’s team but we have been hearing that they are even looking at August 4. The good news is that the official announcement is expected at any moment. That’ll put an end to all speculations once and for all.”

Another industry expert lamented, “Three big films in a month can be a bit too much for an average moviegoer, especially if the ticket prices will be sky-high. Here’s hoping all films do well.”

Directed by Atlee, Jawan also stars Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi and Sanya Malhotra along with Deepika Padukone in a special appearance. As for Animal, it is directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga of Kabir Singh (2019) fame and also features Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Rashmika Mandanna. Finally, Gadar 2 is the sequel to Gadar (2001), one of the biggest hits in the history of Indian cinema. It brings back the star cast, which featured in the first part, that is, Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma. It is directed by Anil Sharma.

Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt made her first appearance at the MET Gala 2023 on May 1. The actress wore a Prabal Gurung creation for the event, which was an ode to the late designer Karl Lagerfeld. The actress walked the carpet in full confidence and was joined by Gurung at every step of the way.

Supermodel Claudia Schiffer's 1992 Chanel bridal outfit in served as an inspiration for Alia's appearance. Ever since the announcement the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan directed by Atlee has been making headlines. After capturing the audiences’ interest with its novel casting comprising of Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathy in addition to SRK, the buzz surrounding the film has been gradually building. As the film’s release draws near, a number of reports have surfaced stating that Jawan will not be releasing on its scheduled day and date of June 2. In fact, a number of these reports have claimed that the film will not be complete for its release on that date. Now, Bollywood Hungama has learnt that the film will, in fact, be delayed, and will not hit screens only on June 29 as reported, instead the film will now hot screens on August 25.

In an earlier report, Bollywood Hungama had informed you that the film would most likely be postponed since there has been no intimation from Red Chillies Entertainment as to when the promotions will start. If that was not enough, neither the teaser nor trailer of the film have yet been released which has added fuel to the already raging fire. Now, confirming the same a well placed industry source informed Bollywood Hungama, “Jawan is most definitely not releasing on June 2 or 29. The film will instead be released on August 25”. Explaining why the source continues, “The delay was on the account of VFX. Shah Rukh Khan and Atlee were very clear that they wanted a fine-tuned world-class product for the audience”.

Interestingly, certain reports claim that this postponement in release date was to maximise its business capabilities thanks to the Bakri Eid festivities and an extended four-day weekend. But with the August release these reports have proved to be rather untrue.

Actor Sooraj Pancholi, who was recently acquitted in the Jiah Khan case, visited the Gurudwara Bangla Sahib in Delhi to seek blessings on Wednesday. He shared his glimpse with his followers on his social media, posting pictures of himself at the holy site.

On Wednesday, Sooraj took to Instagram and shared some pictures on social media where he can be seen seeking blessings. The actor was dressed casually in a blue T-shirt and denim as he folded his hands in prayer. He ditched a text-full caption and added a folded hands emoji while sharing the photos.

Earlier Sooraj had visited the Siddhivinayak temple located in Mumbai after the special CBI court declared him not guilty of the accusations, citing insufficient evidence against him. He had also posted an Instagram story shortly after receiving significant legal relief in the case. Sooraj had taken to his Instagram Stories and had written, “The TRUTH always wins!”

Sooraj Pancholi, who was in a relationship with Jiah Khan when she died, was accused of abetting her commit suicide by Jiah's mother Rabi Khan after a big argument between the two. However, on April 28, the court acquitted the Sooraj of all charges, stating that there was insufficient evidence linking him to the abetment. Sooraj, the son of Zarina and Bollywood actor Aditya Pancholi, made his Bollywood debut in 2015 with the movie Hero, alongside Athiya Shetty. He appeared in court on the same day, accompanied by his mother and actress Zarina Wahab.

Almost ten years before, on June 3, 2013, Jiah's mother Rabia Khan discovered her daughter hanging from the ceiling of her home in Mumbai's Juhu neighbourhood. The Juhu Police detained actor Suraj Pancholi, Jiah Khan's then-boyfriend, for aiding suicide after a 6-page letter allegedly written by Jiah was discovered at her home. It was asserted that the suicide letter was evidence against Suraj and that it represented their turbulent relationship.

Director Sankalp Reddy, who won a National Award for his debut film, The Ghazi Attack, recently shared the challenges he faced in nailing the 1970s look for his upcoming spy thriller, IB 71. The director revealed that it took nearly seven months of trial and error to perfect the retro look for the film, which stars Vidyut Jammwal in the lead role. Set in 1971, the movie is based on true events and revolves around a top-secret mission undertaken by the Indian Intelligence Bureau. The mission involved outsmarting the enemy establishment and providing the Indian armed forces with an edge in the 1971 Indo-Pak war.

Sankalp Reddy, the director of IB 71, recently shared some insights into his process of achieving the perfect 1970s look for the film. IANS quoted him saying, “It was a sincere coordination between the production designer, art department, costume designer, and DOP. It was a 7-month phase of trial and error method.”

He further added, “We procured news articles from libraries in Delhi and Mumbai to flesh out the story. The right look for elements in a film like this is a gamble. You experiment extensively before finding something that fits just right. The colour palette was another area we spent a lot of time on.”

IB 71 is presented by Gulshan Kumar, T-Series Film and Reliance Entertainment. The Action Hero Films production. Yash Raj Films (YRF) has made it clear that it has ambitions to produce some of the most clutter-breaking and disruptive content on digital. Under the banner YRF Entertainment, the company now announces its third project titled Vijay 69, a quirky, slice-of-life film for OTT, starring Anupam Kher.

Vijay 69 will narrate the life of a sexagenarian man, played by Anupam, who decides to compete in a triathlon contest at the age of 69! It will be directed by Akshay Roy, who has previously directed Meri Pyaari Bindu with YRF. He has also worked on acclaimed films like Mira Nair’s The Namesake, Aamir Khan’s directorial debut Taare Zameen Par and Deepa Mehta’s Water as an Assistant Director.

Vijay 69 is being produced by YRF’s homegrown Maneesh Sharma, who has previously directed Band Baaja Baaraat and produced Dum Laga Ke Haisha & Sui Dhaaga: Made In India. He is currently directing YRF Spy Universe’s next offering Tiger 3 starring Salman Khan & Katrina Kaif.

A month back, YRF Entertainment announced its second OTT show, a gritty crime thriller titled Mandala Murders! Created & directed by Gopi Puthran of Mardaani 2 fame, the edge-of-the-seat entertainer will star Vaani Kapoor as the lead, with Vaibhav Raj Gupta co-starring. He has been cast as the leading man for the first time after his brilliant performance in Gullak! Manan Rawat, who has previously worked as an Associate Director on many YRF films, will be the co-director of the series.

YRF’s OTT slate also comprises the much-awaited The Railway Men based on the deadly 1984 Bhopal Gas Tragedy. This series features R Madhavan, Kay Kay Menon, Divyendu and Babil Khan in the lead roles and is a tribute to the brave railway workers who saved scores of lives on this ill-fated night of devastation and horror. Actor-comedian Abhilash Thapliyal has been making waves in the OTT world in recent years. His performance in TVF's web series Aspirants as the character Shwetketu aka SK was highly appreciated by audiences. In fact, post the success of Aspirants, he also led a spin-off series for his character, titled SK Sir Ki Class. Recently, in an interaction with Bollywood Hungama, Abhilash opened up about the same and recalled being sceptical and scared.

Abhilash asserted, “I come from a lower-middle-class family. We have a lot of self-doubt in us. We are not confident, and it was the same with SK Sir Ki Class. When we were shooting for Aspirants, I was very sceptical about my part because a lot of actors in the series were from the TVF universe. They all were known faces.”

The actor-and-comedian further explained, “When I became a part of it, my first thought was negative only. I asked myself what if the audience won’t accept me? We never think otherwise. Given that Aspirants was a hit, I was sceptical. I thought, "What if the audience won’t be able to understand SK Sir’s universe?”

Thapliyal continued, “But I was pleasantly surprised that people started comparing it with Aspirants. They gave us the same love. I was just lucky that my character SK Sir turned out to be the first TVF character to have a spin-off.”

As Abhilash has been featured in a bunch of films as well, we asked him to explain how the process of prep is different for a film and a web show. In his response, he said, “I don’t think there is a process. In fact, I feel if I was doing TV, I would have worked in a similar way. You can’t differentiate the prep for a film and an OTT project. As an actor, you want to tell a story, and do justice to your character, no matter what platform it is being made for. He concluded by saying, “I think it (differentiating between the platform) will corrupt the effort of an actor if they perform while thinking about the platform it will be released on.”

On the professional front, he will be next seen in Kennedy. The Anurag Kashyap directorial will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival this year before its release. It stars Sunny Leone and Rahul Bhat in the lead.

The super-success of Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Pathaan led to jubilation in the industry and trade. It also heightened the buzz for Jawan, SRK’s next release. It is scheduled to release on June 2 and there were expectations that the film’s promotional campaign would begin in the first week of May. Bollywood Hungama even reported about it last week.

However, since then, significant developments have taken place. And it’s now being said that Jawan might not be able to make it on the said date. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “The fact that the teaser or trailer of Jawan isn’t out yet and that there has been no intimation from Red Chillies Entertainment as to when the promotions will start have added to the speculation that Jawan is getting postponed.”

Reports are also floating around that Jawan will now release on Thursday, June 29. The source continued, “If it releases on the 29th, it can have a four-day weekend and also get the advantage of the Bakri Eid holiday on its release day. Moreover, Sidharth Malhotra-starrer Yodha and Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer Dream Girl 2 were slated to arrive in cinemas on July 7. Both got pushed last week. Many believed that these movies were postponed as they don’t want to get in the way of the Jawan wave.”

Interestingly, Satyaprem Ki Katha, starring Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani, is scheduled to release in cinemas on June 29. As of now, there has been no confirmation whether this Nadiadwala Grandson production is moving from this date.

An industry insider lamented, “A lot of speculation and confusion are going around in the trade and industry over this aspect. I hope Shah Rukh Khan or Red Chillies Entertainment make some announcement ASAP as to whether Jawan is releasing on June 2 or being postponed.”

Directed by Atlee, Jawan also stars Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi and Sanya Malhotra along with Deepika Padukone in a special appearance.

Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh, who is the brand ambassador of the English Premier League in India, is currently in London. The actor was in attendance at Tuesday’s Arsenal vs Chelsea game at the Emirates Stadium in London. The actor, who is a massive football fan, was delighted to meet the football legends, Cesc Fabregas and Patrick Vieira.

In an interview for Sky Sports, the 83 actor spoke about his love for the sport as he was speaking alongside the football players Patrick Vieira, Cesc Fabregas and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. A video was shared by the Arsenal Football Club on social media. He said, “Honoured to be here, privileged to be on the show in such esteemed company. Mr Patrick Vieira, Cesc Fabregas and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, all my friends in India, you can reach your heart out. Since we are born in India, cricket is like a religion for us, it’s in our blood. But, after cricket, if there is anything else, it is football. Football is huge in India.”

Ranveer added, “The English Premier League came (in India) at the turn of the century, around the year 2000. A whole generation got hooked on this high-quality football. It was around then when I was watching the Invincibles play football. And that’s what made me fall in love with the sport and Arsenal.”

“When I first saw Patrick Vieira, it was down this tunnel, right here (at the Emirates Stadium). I was with my best friend, who is also an Arsenal fan for 22 years, and we were like schoolgirls. Zarina Wahab is the most relieved and thankful mother in the universe right now. Her son Sooraj was acquitted on April 28 of all charges of abetment related to the tragic death of actress Jiah Khan almost ten years ago.

“The smile is back on my son’s face. We feel like a normal family again. Otherwise for ten years we suffered all the lies in the belief that justice will finally prevail, and it did! But what about all those mothers whose sons are locked away after a failed relationship? My heart reaches out to them. No mother should suffer the way I have,” says Zarina who now wants to just enjoy the family’s freedom from the threat hovering over Sooraj’s head.

“It is not possible for a family to lead a normal life when their child is an under trial for no fault of his. What wrong did my son do that he had to be punished for ten years? We just want to be left alone now. We want to feel like a normal family after ten years,” Zarina.

A fabulous cook Zarina loves to put together meals for family and guests. She now wants to make her son’s favourite dishes. “He hasn’t eaten properly for ten years. He will now live his life again.”

Arjun Kapoor, who is currently in Europe, seems to be making the most of his time there. Arjun is known to be a cinephile and an avid fan of music. He adds, “I have been mesmerised by his brilliance in films like The Lion King, Gladiator, The Dark Knight trilogy, Inception, Man of Steel, Interstellar among others and I’m glad I got an opportunity to experience his concert.“

Arjun further says, “What makes this trip even more special for me is because this is my first trip with just my dad. We have never travelled together and it was amazing to chill with him and talk to him and enjoy the evening. He is also a fan of Hans Zimmer and thoroughly enjoyed the show. We made a plan to make this happen and I’m glad it panned out perfect.”

Arjun Kapoor will be seen exploring versatile roles in his upcoming projects. Since March this year, actor Salman Khan has made headlines once again for receiving death threats. As a result, the Mumbai police increased his security. Recently, Khan opened up on his beefed-up security while stating that inside India there is a little problem. For the unversed, Salman spoke about this during an Aap Ki Adalat episode, which was shot in Dubai. Commenting on Salman’s remark, actress Kangana Ranaut said that his security is assured by the Indian government and there’s no need to worry as the country is in safe hands.

While speaking to the media in Haridwar on Sunday, the Simran actress asserted, “We are actors. Salman Khan has been provided with security by the Centre. He is getting protection from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, then there is nothing to fear. When I was threatened, I was also given security by the government. Today the country is in safe hands. We have nothing to worry about.”

Given this, it is worth mentioning here that Salman has been provided with Y+ category security by the Mumbai Police amid the death threat. In March this year, his office received a threatening email, which Goldy Brar, an associate of Lawrence Bishnoi, a notorious gangster, allegedly sent. The threatening email came shortly after Lawrence Bishnoi publicly stated his desire to “kill Salman Khan.”

In Rajat Sharma’s talk show, Salman had said, “I am going everywhere with full security. Yahan par hoon toh kisi cheez ki zarurat bhi nahi hai, yaha pe totally safe hai. India ke andar thoda sa hai problem (When I am here there is no need for anything, it’s totally safe. Inside India there is a little problem). I know whatever is going to happen will happen no matter what you do. I believe that (points upwards, referring to God) he is there. It is not that I will start roaming freely, it is not like that. Now there are so many Sheras around me. So many guns are going around with me that I am scared these days.”

“Boycott Bollywood,” a trend that began in the wake of the Sushant Singh Rajput case, gained traction on social media in recent years, with many fans calling for a boycott of Bollywood films and actors. Among many other films, Laal Singh Chaddha starring Aamir Khan was also targeted by trolls. Actor Anupam Kher, who is known for his outspoken views on a range of topics, also spoke about the same recently and suggested a way to “kill the Boycott Bollywood” trend.

It all happened during his recent interaction with ANI. Commenting on the Boycott Bollywood trend, Kher asserted, “I personally feel this trend will not affect a film. If your film is good, then it will work but if your film is bad, then it will affect it but not because of the trend. Everybody has freedom of expression. If an actor, actress, or film person has the right to say anything about any situation, then he/she should also be brave enough to sort of go through the situation.”

Talking in the context of Aamir Khan’s film Laal Singh Chaddha's poor performance at the box office, Anupam said, “Laal Singh Chaddha was not a great film. If it was a great film then no power would've stopped it. Aamir's PK worked really well. The point is that you need to accept the truth.”

Suggesting how to end the trend, the Saaransh actor further added, “I am not for boycott trends, not at all but you can't stop somebody from doing what they want to do. But if your product is good, it will find its audience. In fact, they will go with a vengeance. And the only way to kill this trend is to make brilliant work.”

Aryan Khan, son of superstar Shah Rukh Khan, is all set to make his directorial debut with an advertisement film featuring his father. For the unversed, Aryan directed an ad film to kick-start the campaign for the luxury streetwear brand D'Yavol X. While a section of fans showered love on the father-son duo, Aryan recently opened up on working with his father.

In an interaction with Harper’s Bazaar India, the young director said, “Working with my father is never challenging, because, with his experience and dedication, he makes everyone’s job easier on set.” Aryan further added, “He also makes the entire crew feel at ease and has tremendous respect for everyone. When he’s on set, I always make sure to pay extra attention, so I don’t miss out on anything I can learn.”

As the conversation progressed further, Aryan was asked if Shah Rukh shared any input on the set, he said, “Of course, he did, and everyone involved in the project gave their input in some way. And it is important to at least listen to them because filmmaking is a collaborative effort.” He continued, “If my dad's input is different from mine, and if both seem valid, you can always shoot it both ways; but don’t tell my producer.”

The Supreme Court of India is presently considering a petition advocating for same-sex marriage in the country, with the central government opposing the petition. The Queen actress, on Sunday, visited Haridwar to offer prayers at Dakshin Kali temple and also participated in the Ganga Aarti. During her visit, she shared her thoughts on various topics including same-sex marriage. She said, “Jo shaadi hoti hai, woh dil ke rishte hote hai. Jab logo ke dil mil gaye hai baaki kuchh logo ki jo preference hai, usme hum kya bol sakte hai (Marriage is a matter of the heart. When hearts have met what can I say about their preferences?)”

I can no longer walk on the street alone, go cycling… But I do have a problem with this (amped-up security). When we are in traffic, there is so much security, and vehicles, which causes inconvenience to other people, who give me a look, saying, ‘Achcha, you have now become a star.’ There are some threats, which is why the security is there. I am doing whatever I have been asked to do. I have got to be very careful… I go everywhere with full security.”

Adding further, the 57-year-old actor said, “Jo hone waala hai woh ho ke rahega, aap kuch bhi koshish kar lo. I believe that he (God) is there, so that’s it. Of course, it doesn’t mean that just because God is there, I will start behaving carelessly. I have many Sheras now (referring to his loyal bodyguard, Shera). There are so many guns (gunmen) that walk with me that khud darr lagta hai aaj kal.”

The Bharat actor continued, “They walk with guns pointed at all directors. I do get looks from people though. Like when you see a minister in his laal batti with a siren, I get the same look. So I have told them that I don’t want any sound of siren, that they should drive at a very slow pace.”

During the interview, Rajat Sharma suggested that the threats may have stemmed from the Blackbuck case. To this, Salman Khan chuckled and replied, “I genuinely have no idea about that, sir. I really don't. Our legal system is competent, and they will make the necessary judgement. Whatever their verdict, we will accept it.”

Coming to the professional front, Salman recently gave a treat on Eid to his fans with his film Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. Directed by Farhad Samji, it also features Pooja Hegde as the leading lady. Kyunke jab ek jaati hai toh fault unme tha, doosri jaati hai toh fault unme hee hai, teesri jaati hai toh unhi mein hai…chauthi mein thora doubt aata hai, ke fault unme hain ya mujhe hai? Paanchvi mein bhi.. 60-40 ka. Usse zyada jab jaane lagti hai tab woh confirm kar jati hai ke fault mera hee tha. Mera hee tha. Toh isme kisika dosh nehi hai. Mera hee dosh hai. Shayad ek fear ka ho ke main unko woh zindagi, woh sukh na de pau jo ki unke dimaag mein hai. I’m sure sab apni apni jagah bahut khush hai. (All my previous girlfriends were good, the fault lies in me. When the first one left, it could have been her fault, when the second one and then the third one left, there could be faults with them, but with the fourth one, doubt creeps in whether fault lies with them or me. In the fifth case, it could have been 60:40. But when more left, it is then confirmed that it was my fault. None of them had any fault. It is only my fault. Probably a kind of fear in their mind that I may not be able to give them happiness in life. I am sure they are all happy wherever they are)”

Salman Khan had been romantically linked to various women in the entertainment industry such as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Katrina Kaif, Iulia Vantur, and Zareen Khan, among others.

Coming to the professional front, the 57-year-old star was last seen in Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, which was released recently on the occasion of Eid 2023. Helmed by Farhad Samji, it also starred Pooja Hegde along with Jassie Gill, Palak Tiwari, Raghav Juyal, Shehnaaz Gill, Siddharth Nigam, Venkatesh Daggubati, and Vinali Bhatnagar. He will be next seen in Tiger VS Pathaan.

One of the greatest courtroom dramas of all time, Damini (1993), completed 30 glorious years on April 30. Starring Rishi Kapoor, Sunny Deol, Meenakshi Seshadri, Amrish Puri and others, the film was loved for tackling sensitive issues, its bravura performances and of course for Sunny’s iconic ‘tareekh pe tareekh’ dialogue.

As Damini celebrates its 30th anniversary, Bollywood Hungama spoke exclusively to director Rajkumar Santoshi about the film and a lot more.

As per the trivia on IMDb, it is mentioned that Dimple Kapadia and Sridevi were the original choices for the role of Damini and not Meenakshi Seshadri. Is it true? Not at all. Since its inception, Meenakshi Seshadri was a part of the film.

It’s also said that Om Puri was considered for the role that was eventually played by Sunny Deol… Yes, we had the thought of bringing in Om Puri and show his confrontation with Amrish Puri. Sunny had become a very big hero after Ghayal (1990). He was supposed to do another action-packed film, Ghatak (1996), with me. And the character in Damini comes in reel no 12. Hence, we thought that instead of Sunny, we should bring in Om Puri. However, the producer and Om Puri’s secretary had some misunderstanding over the fees. Then I thought of trying Sunny. And he came on board gladly.

Since Sunny Deol was a big star at that point, were you or the producers tempted to bring him into the narrative earlier or before the interval? Everything in the film was instinctive. I don’t believe in corrupting the process or harming the script. Jis character ki jahan zaroorat hai, wahin hona chahiye.

It is also said that you were not happy that the makers of Damini came up with solo posters of Sunny Deol… Once I direct a film, then it’s the producer who takes care of the marketing and other aspects. Uska paisa laga hai. If I were the producer, I will have a say. Or else, I won’t.

Did you visit cinema halls to check the audience feedback? Sunny and I visited Bandra Talkies. The response was fantastic.

The ‘tareekh pe tareekh’ dialogue is iconic and even today, gives goosebumps. At the same time, it is saddening to see that it is relevant even today, 30 years after the film’s release. This means that the justice system is still largely flawed in our society as it was in 1993. Your thoughts? Not really. These dialogues were written from the heart. I had a personal experience involving courts. My mother and grandmother had to visit the court regularly as our flat in Thane was a disputed property. This is when I saw that paise waale paison ka use karke taarekh lete rehte the. I knew the pain of the common man and how he can be harassed.

How many years did the court case go on? It went on for 4-5 years.

Damini won the Filmfare Award for Best Direction, Best Supporting Actor (Sunny Deol), Best Story (Sutanu Gupta) and Best Sound (Rakesh Ranjan). Shockingly, it didn’t win the award for Best Dialogues though it had several hard-hitting one-liners. Did that sadden you? Why would I be sad? For my first film Ghayal, I won so many awards, from National Awards to Filmfare. Awards are secondary. Log aapke dialogues ko yaad rakhte hai, dialogues pe taali bajate hai, khush hote hai aapki film dekh ke…yehi important hai.

We are living in an era of remakes. Have you ever thought of remaking Damini? There are so many new stories waiting to be told.

And what about a sequel to Damini? Ghayal also had a sequel, Ghayal Once Again (2016). Do you think the character of Advocate Govind Srivastava, played by Sunny Deol, can be taken forward? We had thought about it but nothing materialized.
